Hello People of Fanfiction!

This story is starting to get troublesome for me, but thankfully I finished this hard chapter,

it's called reconciliation, guess you know what it's about :)

I hope you enjoy and please review after you finish, it really helps me develop my style of writing

Thank you :)

"You have to believe me, Toph.. I didn't know Katara was flirting with me to annoy Azula. If I knew I would have stopped her immediately, I knew only after you left and you can ask Sokka and Suki what I did afterwards." Aang explained to Azula's best friend.

Toph didn't even look at Aang when she said, "What happened has happened, you can just drop it."

Aang played with his hair out of nervousness before saying, "I'm trying to fix all of this. Please, Just listen to what I have to say."

"You shouldn't be concerned about my feelings, as long as Azula is annoyed with you, I will never forgive you." Toph said, which put Aang to a halt as he was mulling over her words.

They were sitting on a ledge that was overlooking the lake at the edge of town, it was a very peaceful place that Aang chose to converse with Toph about what happened, Toph hesitantly agreed to it, and he has been trying to convince her with his intentions ever since, she's very stubborn and she won't listen to what Aang had to say, or so Toph wanted Aang to feel, as she was very furious with him over what he did with Azula, she wasn't angry with him over what happened at the cafeteria as she knew for a fact it wasn't Aang's way to do this, but she was angry with him over the situation as a whole, which she also knew that wasn't his fault that he couldn't return Azula's feelings, she just couldn't help but feel bad for her best friend, and that made her unintentionally angry at Aang.

Aang halted for some seconds before sighing and saying, "We don't get to choose who we love."

deep down, Toph knew that Aang's words were true, she just couldn't give him the satisfaction of agreeing to them,

"Why did you make her fall in love with you then?" She asked, and she knew instantly that that was a type of questions that she wasn't used to ask, a stupid question.

Aang knew that at this point Toph was just being irrational, but he understood why so he answered, "I wish I knew."

"You'd have known if you actually cared."

"C'mon, Toph. be reasonable about this, You know I had no intentions of breaking her heart, but I couldn't just neglect my feelings for Katara, I've loved her ever since I was little, you know that. Katara has done things for me that I can never forget, not even in a million years.. she literally saved me from death, you know that." Aang concluded, his voice breaking at the last part as he didn't want to remember.

Toph felt bad for reminding him of it, "I know.." she said guiltly.

Aang composed himself and spoke again, "So you know that I'm in a difficult situation here.. I can't give Azula what she seeks, so What can I actually do?"

Toph mulled it over for a couple of seconds, "Come with me." She said as she stood up and extended a hand to Aang.

Aang took the hand and stood up as well, "Where are we going?"

"We're gonna put a stop to this madness." Toph said, walking away with a confused Aang following close by.

The encounter with her mother helped Azula a lot, mental-wise, she wasn't used to being this happy, now that the relationship with her mother has become slightly better. the better the relationship gets, the happier she becomes. She was in her room minding her own business, when her brother knocked on the door,

"Come in." Azula said, and her brother opened the door but stayed at the entrance.

"Put on some clothes, I want you to come with me." Zuko said, still standing at the entrance which made Azula confused.

Azula stood up, "What's wrong? is mother okay?" She asked, panicked.

"No.. I mean Yes, she's okay. Nothing is wrong, I just wanna take you somewhere." Zuko responded, reassuring her.

Azula sighed, "You know I don't like secrets."

"I swear you won't regret it, I'm waiting in the car, hurry up." Zuko said and then closed the door, that got Azula's attention, even though she was too lazy to get out of the house, but Zuko really intrigued her with his words, so she stood up, put on some clothes and caught up with him to the car, she took the passenger seat and Zuko started the engine.

"You look good by the way." He said and took off.

"Thank you. Now, could you please tell me where are you taking me? I'm getting really ticked off by this." she said.

"Just trust me." Her brother only said.

They got on a road that Azula knew very well, it's the way to the Jasmine Dragon Cafe, and indeed it was.

"That's the surprise? you're taking me to the cafe that I spend most of my day at?" Azula asked, irritated.

Zuko smiled at her, he unhooked his seat belt and told Azula to follow him, the girl wanted to know the end of this, so she just did as she asked and followed him, they entered the cafe and Azula wished they hadn't, Azula looked at Zuko with eyes filled with anger, she knew exactly what was happening as soon as she saw him, sitting there with Toph on the same table, Zuko only smiled at his sister and went to the table, there was no going back now, Azula had to sit with him at the same table, thanks to her idiot brother, she took a note to beat his ass as soon as they get home.

They arrived at the table that was right next to the manager's office and Zuko started the talk, "Hello, guys." Zuko greeted.

"Hey, Zuko." Toph responded, Aang was about to respond as well but the words caught up in his mouth as soon as he saw Azula, he started fidgeting and playing with his hair and Azula knew that was his sign of nervousness, which means that he didn't know it was a setup as well, which made her even more nervous.

"Did you swallow a bunch of squirrels before coming here? why are you so silent?" Zuko asked in a sarcastic manner to Aang.

Who swallowed a huge lump in his throat and returned the greeting, "Hey, Zuko."

"Say hi to Azula as well." Toph said, adding fuel to the fire.

Aang looked at Toph with irritation and then moved his face slowly towards Azula, his beautiful face.. Azula reminded herself that she was trying to get used to not having him with her, so she stopped herself from admiring his face.

"Hi, Azula." Aang greeted, and it was Azula's turn to display nervousness.

"Hey." She only responded, silence took over, until Toph broke it.

"Sit down already!" She ordered, and the two siblings did so immediately.

Toph then stood up and took Zuko with her, "Oh who are we kidding? they already know it's a setup, well.. I think that's our cue, Zuko, let's head out, I wanna take a ride around town in your car.. have fun guys." she said and departed with Zuko following close by.

Aang and Azula sat down at the table looking at everywhere but at each other, not even trying to express their irritation at Zuko and Toph, but that's exactly what they did after a while to start the conversation.

"Can you believe what they did? Why are they treating us like this?" Azula said, genuinely irritated.

Aang then got the courage to stop fidgeting and start talking, "I know, right? it's like they are dealing with a bunch of kids."

They got back to silence again, only the sound of silence filling the place for a while, before Azula took the initiative again, and started her words with an apology,

"I'm sorry." She said.

Aang was taken aback by her words, "What?" He only asked.

Azula took a deeper breath and started talking, "I'm sorry I... ruined your moment with Katara, You two deserve to be happy together, and I took that away. I'm really sorry." She finished, looking away with regretful eyes.

Aang only stared at her in shock, he couldn't believe that such words would come out of Azula's mouth, but then he composed himself and started talking seriously as well,

"You shouldn't apologize. I should be the one to do so.. If only I knew-" Aang was interrupted by Azula.

"Don't.. Please." She asked.

Aang then spoke again, "No, you please let me finish.. Please." He asked gently, and Azula nodded hesitantly.

Aang took a deep breath again, "I apologize for neglecting your feelings, if only I looked deeper, I'd have realized and discussed the issue sooner, I mean, the hints were all around me, but I never thought in my life that you would think of me that way, you are Azula.. the princess of the school, why would you think of me? or anyone for that matter?" Aang said, and Azula smiled a bit,

before Aang continued, "which brings me to the other matter, which is your feelings for me.. I tried to respond to them the best I could, but I really can't, Azula.. let's be frank, Azula. me and Katara go way back, even before you came to the city, she's loved me more than anyone did, she's gotten me out of situations that nobody else would have even bothered to get involved with.. Like.."

Aang stopped for a second, and Azula knew it was a tough matter to discuss so she offered him to stop talking, but Aang refused to decided to finally discuss it with her,

"My parents died when I was a little kid.. driving accident, nobody's fault, I was really young so I wouldn't remember, but I remember my uncle, Gyatso.. Who took me in and treated me like the child he never had, he raised me and was the best thing that ever happened to me in my life, he got me to the new school where I met Katara and Sokka and became friends with them, then the unthinkable happened.. the same thing that happened to my parents.."

Aang stopped for a second, and by the time he did, he had streaks of tears all over his cheeks, Azula really sympathized with him that she had tears in her own eyes,

Aang then took a deep breath again and continued, "Driving Accident.. but this time, my own fault." He said, and stopped talking, he covered his face out of embarrassment so that Azula doesn't see the tears, the girl gasped, and the sight of Aang made her own tears flew out.

"Please.. if it's really that painful, stop talking.. it hurts me to see you like this." She asked with a sad voice.

Aang then wiped his tears away immediately, and looked at her, "No, Please let me finish." He asked again, and she had no choice but to nod, Aang then started talking again,

"My uncle was driving me back from school and I was in the passenger seat, I forgot to fasten my seat belt even though he reminded me of it countless times, he realized it after we took off on the highway, he then decided to fasten it himself to avoid trouble.. he left the car unattended on the highway and went to fasten it, the last thing I heard was a huge crash before waking up in the hospital to know that my uncle was gone." Aang finished.

Azula gasped again, with tears in her eyes, Aang finally told her his tragic story, it was like knowing him for the first time, she thought he was finished but then he decided to get to the point of the story, the point that made him start it in the first place,

"After miraculously surviving the accident, Katara's family took me in.. Police Chief Hakoda saw me in the hospital sitting alone with nothing and no one in the world, I knew him before the accident and he knew that I'm Katara and Sokka's friend, he saw them frequently visiting me there, and so Katara asked her dad to take me in, her father, the most generous man in the world, happily accepted, I refused at first but then Katara convinced me, she told me that she had recently lost her mother and she knew exactly how I felt, we connected on an emotional level, and that's how our relationship started, she did things for me that nobody else would have done, especially someone who recently went through the same trauma, and so.. I fell in love with her."

Azula was infuriated by the last words, but then she realized that Aang would have been a senseless robot if he hadn't fallen in love with her after all that, she wished she was there when that happened and Aang had fallen in love with her instead, but then she realized that that's Life, she knew she'll come to terms with that sooner rather than later, but as for now, she only understood Aang's love for Katara.

"I understand." Azula responded, which shocked Aang.

"Huh?" He questioned.

Azula smiled at him, "I only wanted to know why you'd love her so much, and now I realize, Katara is really much more than she lets on, based on your experience with her, I'd say that I really misjudged her, she's a wonderful person, you're so lucky to have her." She said, maintaining her smile.

Aang smiled back at Azula, "Yeah.. I guess I do."

"She's lucky to have you too.. from what you're saying, I can surmise that you helped her a lot to get over her own trauma, the love between the two of you is so pure that I regret ever getting in the way of it, even if it was unintentional."

"Don't say that, You're a wonderful person too, and having you around is one of life's many blessings, I frequently came to this cafe because I knew that hanging out with you would be really fun, and indeed it was, thank you for being a part of my life, Azula. I really can't hope for a better friend."

For the first time ever, that word didn't hurt her, Azula was shocked by that.. she wasn't hurt by Aang calling her a friend, did she really come to terms with the fact that Aang has fallen for someone else that fast? she was both happy and confused at the same time, happy that she came to terms with that fact, confused that it was that fast, maybe Aang being honest with her had something to do with it.

"Thank you, Aang.. I wouldn't wish for a better friend as well.. Don't say that to Toph or it's your legs!" She threatened good-naturedly and Aang chuckled.

"Yes, M'am!" He responded, and they both laughed their struggles out. finally putting the past behind them and coming to terms with the current situation, "Thank you, Azula, for getting this huge burden off my chest, I feel much better now." Aang said.

"Me too. but I'm getting thirsty after all this talk, Lemonade?" She asked, and Aang nodded to her, smiling that she got his order right again, she just knew him too well.

"Two lemonades, Teo!"

"Right away, Princess!" The boy responded and went to grab their orders.

Aang and Azula couldn't have been happier than at this moment, they finally got over their issues, as Aang described it, they got that huge burden off their chests, and now they are on good terms again, they sat at the table to discuss other life matters over their lemonades, life couldn't have been happier, except that Aang still has one more person to come to terms with, Katara.

Who, unbeknown to them, was standing behind the door of the manager's office in the Jasmine Dragon, Sokka and Suki invited her to the place and then got out just before Aang and Toph arrived, it was all a setup to get the three friends back together, Katara realized that now, but one she never regrets as she got to know the truth,

she heard everything they said, and had tears flowing everywhere out of her eyes, she couldn't believe Aang thought of her that highly, Katara knew Aang's love to her was unquestionable , but she just couldn't believe that he would remember every bit of detail of their relationship, how it started and how it's going, she felt bad for treating Azula the way she did, she just couldn't take the initiative and try to talk to her, she promised to do so in the future, as soon as she makes up with her love, the man that was meant for her and only her, Aang.
