Here is chapter four.
I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock. I check my phone and I let out a groan as I saw it was Monday. I really didn't feel like going back to school. But I know I have too. Especially since I have to do that math test.
My eyes went wide. Oh crap! I've been worrying so much about Cat that I have completely forgot to study!
I quickly packed my stuff into my backpack, ate some cereal, had a cup of coffee, and was out the door in a flash.
Sometime later
It was difficult for me to focus. Yeah lacking sleep will do that to you. I couldn't even recognize the symbols. Well to be fair math isn't my strong suit. I barley managed to get C's on math for the semester back in Sherwood.
After what felt like hours I finally finished. After another 20 minutes of waiting the bell rang. But before I can walk out the door Mr. Davenport said my name.
"You got an F." He said sternly. "I expected better from you." "I know sir but-" "No buts. This will drop your semester grade down from a D to an F."
My heart dropped. "Let me retake the test. I promise I'll do better." I pleaded. "I'm sorry Miss Vega. If I did that then I would have to give others who failed another chance."
I left the classroom and stormed over to the girls bathroom. I look at myself in the mirror as I felt the anger building inside of me.
"This is all Cat's fault" I growled in a low voice. "She just had to laugh at me. She made me do what I did. Maybe if she didn't laugh at me then I would have never take her stupid toy and chuck it out the window." My voice was getting louder. "Then she wouldn't have gone after that stupid toy and got run over." "And maybe I wouldn't be a nervous wreck. And I wouldn't be wondering whether or not if she is going to die at the hospital because I put her there!" And before I could stop myself I ended up punch and shattering the mirror.
I looked at the shattered mirror, then at my bloodied hands, then I backed up to a wall and broke down crying.
Oh my god what's wrong with me? I can't believe I was blaming Cat for putting herself in the hospital. And for what I've been going through.
"Tori? Is that you?" I looked up and saw Jade standing at the door. With a concerned look on her face, which was strange, even for her.
"You look like crap." I glared at her. "Yeah. No shit!" I shouted. "Jeez. Calm down Vega." Jade shouted back.
She then walked towards me. "Get up. I'll take you to see the nurse." "It's okay. I'm okay." I said, my voice still a little shaky. "No. You're clearly not okay. Seeing how your hands are they need to be bandaged."
After getting both of my hands bandaged up the nurse told me I should go home and rest. Clearly she can tell how I look and feel.
Jade offered to take me home. I was too tired to argue.
Soon after we were on the road I kinda nodded off. "Wake up Vega!"
I jolted awake. Then I looked out the window and saw Jade standing by my door.
I figured we're at my house already. I opened the car door and stepped out. The sun was too bright for me to make out the environment.
I finally manage to see clearly, and saw were at a desert. Before I could ask Jade where we are I'm being thrown to the ground.
Before I can react I felt a boot crushing my chest. "Jade..." I barely got out. "You put Cat in the hospital?" she questioned me. I saw a horrified look on her face. I've seen Jade mad before, but this was something far worse.
Apparently she heard my anger outburst in the bathroom.
I struggled to breath. "I'm sorry. I didn't-" She put more pressure on me. "All I want to hear is either a yes or no!" She shouted at me.
"Yes." I breathed. "How could you do such a horrible thing?" She wondered. "I got mad at her for laughing at me. So I took her purple giraffe and threw it out the window. But I swear to god I didn't intend on Cat getting hurt."
"You said it was her own fault she got herself hurt!" "I was wrong to say that. It was my fault. My fault! That's what you want to hear right? Please don't hurt me!" I pleaded.
After several moments of silence she took her foot off my chest. I got up and dusted myself off before getting back in her car.
We didn't say anything for the rest of the trip. It was when she stopped in front of my house.
"Look. I know you care about Cat. Just as much as I do." "And because of how you've been a good friend to her, and you didn't intend on her getting hurt, I won't tell anyone what you told me. You're secret is safe with me."
I was relieved for a moment before she leaned forward towards me till our faces were mere inches from each other. "But let me make myself clear. If Cat doesn't survive..." I stayed silent, waiting for her to continue. "Let's just say what I'll do to you, it won't be pretty. Now get out of my sight."
I quickly got of her car. She sped off. I was petrified. What did she mean by that? If Cat dies, will she kill me? I didn't want to think about it right now as I hurried into my house.
