Voronwë started to speak in elvish, muttering to himself almost in amazement. I don't understand anything that he says, but I am in awe of the giant water figure. I rub my eyes, but it is still there when I open them. This figure must be important or powerful and maybe he can get me home.

I get up and start to walk towards the man and the figure. Voronwë follows close behind, muttering all the way. After a little while, we are close enough to hear the two speak. It sounds like the figure is giving him instructions but they are talking in elvish. As we got closer to the man I took in the figure's appearance.

His lower half was shrouded by the water but his chest was covered in a scale-like shirt. His hair was long and whipped about him like the waves. In his hair were shells and other fine jewels. His eyes were a blue-gray and his handsome face was partially covered by a beard. In one hand was a staff with a trident end that was adorned with gems and shells. This is definitely Poseidon or Lord Ulmo as they call him here.

The man and the figure spoke at length. I had no idea what they were saying but finally, the figure addressed me.

"My child, you have been brought a great distance to this world and have farther yet to go. Much lies before you before your destiny is complete. You must go with Tuor and Voronwë to Gondolin. Your path will be long and full of struggles, but will also bring great happiness.

"Yeah that's nice and all, but can you send me home. I don't want to go to Gondolin or wherever, I just want to go home," I beg.

"No, I cannot send you home. That lies beyond my power. You were brought here from Eru Ilúvatar himself and I will not go against his wishes. Yet, as much as you call your world home, you belong to this one as well. I hear small whispers of the music in my waves, but I do not know your full purpose. Perhaps you will discover it with time but I will aid you in whatever I can."

"Your destiny is woven into the very fabric of this world. I cannot undo what has already been written. You will have my blessing and should you ever need my help, I will come. However, I do not foresee our paths will cross for many years. Voronwë was spared by my hand to guide you to the hidden city. Go now, and may the rivers and waterways aid you on your journey."

I wanted to speak again, but Voronwë spoke instead to the figure in elvish. After a short while, he bowed and the figure spoke one last time to the man. This time however he gave him a cloak and bid us his final farewell. Voronwe and I did not receive anything.

"You are very important if he gives you his blessing and Eru Ilúvatar brought you to this world himself," said Voronwë in awe. He was staring at me in wonder and I was getting uncomfortable by the look. I didn't want to be special, I just wanted to be me and to go home.

So Lord Ulmo is like Poseidon. I guess I'm not in Kansas anymore. We certainly didn't have any sea gods that are real. I don't think this is a dream anymore as I just watched a water figure speak to me and disappear. I guess I really am in the world of the Lord of the Rings.

I remember my ex-boyfriend James telling me about some human man that talks to a god and goes to the hidden city. This must be him. I'm still pissed that I can't go home, but Eru brought me here and I don't think he's gonna ever take a call from me personally. Maybe some of the other Valar god people could convince him, but they are across the sea. As I was lost in my thoughts, Voronwë was talking to the man; Tuor Ulmo called him.

I turned to look at them and I waited for them to finish talking. They were speaking in rapid elvish.

"My lady, I am Tuor son of Huor," he said.

I stuck out my hand and said "Kiera daughter of Susan."

He grasped my hand and shook it. He then continued "It seems we both were given a task to go to Gondolin. I have to let King Turgon know of the future of the city. I would be honored to travel with you, but what of your husband or escort?"

Again with the husband and escort shit. "No husband or escort. I was camping with some friends, but I was separated and brought here. I am all alone." I said with a shrug.

"A lady shouldn't travel alone in these times, I am glad you are accompanying us. Voronwë has agreed to guide us, although King Turgon doesn't allow humans in his realm, I hope that with Lord Ulmo's blessing that it will be enough. We should leave quickly, as the journey is long and perilous. My rations are dwindling, but Voronwë has elvish bread that will help with the journey."

I looked at Voronwë and he smiled at me. I'm glad my new friend is leading us to his home. The city should be safe for a while, I'll have to write down what I remember from my ex-boyfriend and hope it is enough. I only remember bits and pieces from the stories.

"Come, let us leave, the journey to Gondolin will be long. I have enough food for us, though hopefully, the weather stays good. We cannot afford any delays, if we are, we must hunt and look for food. The journey should take 15 days if we don't run into trouble or are delayed," he said as he started towards the stairs.

Voronwë led us and Tuor and I followed after him. I trailed behind both, lost in thought. So this is the Lord at the Rings. Or the first age at least. James used to tell me about some of the stories. He always simplified them for me, but I got the general idea and it made him happy to talk and share them with me. I remember from the tales that this age was filled with a lot of terrible stuff and a lot of heroic events. Glorfindel was always my favorite from the stories. I stopped myself as I realized I was actually going to meet him or at least see him in Gondolin.

Voronwë and Tuor didn't notice me stopping so I hurried to catch up to them on the stairs. As I ran up the stairs I gasped when I reached the top doorway. The castle was beautiful. The white stone was built around the cliff edges and seemed like something out of a fairytale; which it kind of was. The towers and buildings were finely crafted and had empty courtyards around each.

Voronwë noticed my wandering eye "It is a beautiful city, but Gondolin is so much more. I wish we could walk around and explore, but we must keep moving."

I nodded and jogged to keep with the guys. Tuor seemed to be on a mission and the city didn't even phase him. I suppose to them this is a normal city. We snaked and walked through the empty and deserted streets until we came to the large main gate. It lay open, and we passed throughout into an open plain and an overgrown path.

Now it seemed that Tuor picked up the pace and urged Voronwë and me on. The plains spread on for miles in each direction. A long and large mountain range on one side and open plains on the other. In the far distance, I could see some trees. The sounds of the sea became less and less. We walked all afternoon, talking sometimes but mostly in silence.

Each of us is lost in our own thoughts for the day. I was making a mental list of the stories I remembered and the events that happened. A lot of the stories had already happened like Beren and Lúthien. I'll have to get a notebook or paper and make a physical list when we get to Gondolin. I also wondered at what Ulmo had said about belonging to both worlds. It didn't make any sense as my family are all humans. I brushed it off as nonsense.

When the sun started to set, we stopped to make camp. I dropped my tent and bag and flopped to the grass. We were still in the plains but Voronwë said he could see if anybody came near us. Voronwë gave us a small piece of bread and ate one himself. I pulled out my sleeping bag and one blanket and laid them in the grass. I was so tired from the day that after I took off my boots, I just crawled in and immediately fell asleep.
