Chapter 5: Making Plans
Unknown to Harry, Ron stood by his dorm window watching him. He had first noticed Harry walking the perimeter two days ago. What was he doing? Was this truly a normal walk or did he have something planned? Ron watched as Harry slowly made his way around the back perimeter. He wished he was able to read minds, not just prevent his from being read.
Now that he had found his best friend, he needed a way to escape with him. Ron ran through different plans in his head. A few minutes later, Ron watched as Harry returned to the building.
Return? The word echoed in Ron's head as a plan began to form. He knew he wouldn't be able to make the whole plan himself and needed an excuse to disappear for awhile. Ron sighed, letting his forehead hit the window. He closed his eyes.
Tonight there was a raid he would be part of. The last few raids he had been a part of involved fighting members of the Order. What if he was "accidentally" captured? True he'd have to prove who he was quickly, since only Hermione knew what he looked like. Once captured he would have to convince the Order to attack the force shield. Ron knew they wouldn't be able to break it, but maybe weaken it. Perhaps that's what Harry was doing every day, looking for a weak spot.

An hour later, Ron stood in the banquet hall once again. He knelt with his Death Eaters mask with several other members. He listened as Voldemort explained their objective. Moments after he finished the Death Eaters apprevated. Ron landed next to other masked Death Eaters and began to walk towards Hogsmeade. He noticed a Death Eater in front of him set a random tree on fire, seemingly just for fun. Ron decided to copy him, to avoid looking suspicious. He heard a chuckle next to him.
"Impatient? Don't worry, we'll have lots of fun soon." Ron hated the tone of his voice. This would not be fun, it was possible innocent people would be killed tonight.
As they approached their objective, Ron noticed a flicker of movement behind a building. He did not voice his discovery, instead he moved farther away. He was sure it was Mad Eye he had seen. He did not want to fight Mad Eye as he knew he wouldn't be taken captive, but killed instead.
Suddenly a blast of fire hit the ground a few feet from Ron. The force knocked him and a few others back. He jumped up immediately to come face to face with Kingsley Shacklebolt. Perfect, he thought. Ron and Kingsley fought against each other as the battle whirled around them. Unknowingly to Kingsley, Ron was stepping away from the Death Eaters. He needed an excuse to not make it back tonight. Surely the Death Eaters would report his disappearance to Lord Voldemort.
To their left came a large explosion as a building went up in flames. Ron was unsure who had set the fire, but once the building was engulfed the Death Eaters began disappearing. Ron lifted his arm, pretending to attack Kingsley again. Kingsley whipped around and blasted him against a brick wall. Ron's head hit the wall and he blacked out.

An unknown amount of time later Ron woke to the sounds of arguing. He immediately recognized one of the voices as Hermione's. When he tried to move he quickly realized he was strapped to a kitchen chair. After a few minutes Ron heard the metal thumping of Mad Eye's fake leg as he entered the room.
"He's awake!" He shouted over his shoulder. From behind him Hermione came flying out of the kitchen.
"Ron!" She shouted. She cupped her hand around his cheek.
"I'm ok, I swear." Hermione nodded, her mouth slightly open as she looked into Ron's eyes, the only piece of him that was truly original.
"Prove it's him." Ron heard Kingsley say next to Mad Eye. Without him realizing, almost the whole Order had appeared.
"I'm Ron Weasley, I -"
"Ron is dead." Mad Eye interrupted.
"No, I faked my death so I could disguise myself as a Death Eater to find Harry." Ron looked around at his family to find Ginny. She looked hopeful as she made eye contact with him.
"He's alive." Ron heard a few members gasp. Ron couldn't tell how his sister felt; relieved, happy, upset, so he kept going. He's Voldemort's prisoner at a mansion by some woods."
For the following minutes Ron answered every question thrown at him to prove he wasn't an imposter. Soon Mad Eye released him of his bonds and the group began planning an attack on the mansion.
