Nara Yoshino was a patient woman whenever she wanted to be but not whenever her baby was 15 minutes late for her genin exam results. "Nara Amaya, you better have a good excuse for…" She never finished her sentence as she noticed the bed was empty and a small note was on top of it.
Taking a deep breath and trying not to freak out, she grabbed the note and read it. "Kaa-san, and or Tou-san, by the time you read this note I will be outside of Hi no Kuni. I left because my fate was sealed within the village. I was destined to be a breeding stock for my mutation. Yes, I know about the elder's plans for me.
Speaking of the elders, they should be found dead by the time you read this. I didn't kill them but Naruto-kun did, it seems the idiot has feelings for me and didn't like the idea of them hurting me. From what he told me, he put shuriken inside the lungs of each elder before disemboweling them. I know it seems brutal but the bastards had it coming.
Anyways, don't try to find me because you won't be able to. Love, your daughter" Yoshino didn't know whether to cry about how her baby was gone or be proud about how well she hid it from them. The older Nara didn't pick and went to tell her husband.
*Hokage's office*
The Sandaime was pacing in front of his desk, waiting for the tracking unit's report. It had been roughly 2 hours since Naruto was discovered missing and the previous night, the scroll of seals had also gone missing.
Finally, an ANBU appeared in a bow. "Hokage-sama." The man said. "Report. Now." The man nodded at his leader. "The tracking unit hasn't found a trace. If someone took him they didn't even leave a chakra trail. Whatever scent was there was blown away by last night's high winds and whatever tracks they left have been covered in leaves."
Hiruzen slammed his hand down onto his desk, causing a spider web crack. "Hokage-sama!" A man yelled running into the room. When Hiruzen looked at him, he appeared to be a Nara. "What's so important that you barge into my office like this?" Hiruzen asked, holding in his anger.
"The Nara elders have been found dead and the heiress is gone." The man said. Hiruzen resisted the urge to break something and took a deep breath. "So we're missing two high level assets and a chunin with no clue about what happened?" Hiruzen asked.
"No sir, Yoshino-sama found a note from her daughter saying that she was leaving with Naruto and that he killed the elders. I do not know if you knew this but the elders were planning on making the heiress a breeding stock for her mutated Kekkei Genkai the moment she became 13. I don't know about that chunin though."
Hiruzen began rubbing his temples. "Were the brains of the elders destroyed? If not, get Inoichi over there to check their memories." The old man ordered. The Nara bowed and rushed out of the room.
"You, go back to the barracks. I need some time to think." The ANBU nodded and shunshined away.
*On a ferry*
The two Konoha escapees sat in the back of the ferry under henges. They'd gotten to the port town a little after 11 and had to wait for the ferry which left at 6 the next morning. It seemed that none of the crew knew that the civil war was fake as they only took people to Kiri who gave them enough money.
They didn't have any problem taking people out of Kiri though. The whole system was idiotic to Naruto but he kept it to himself. Another thought hit Naruto. How did Kiri do their mission system if the whole world thought they were in a civil war? Did they only get missions from the rest of Mizu no Kuni?
"What are you about to burst a blood vessel over?" Amaya asked from the seat beside him. "I'm just trying to think about how Kiri gets their revenue. Are they self-sustaining with the rest of Mizu no Kuni?" Naruto asked.
"I don't know but how about you ask the Mizukage once we get to Kiri in about 4 hours. Just go to sleep and don't burst a blood vessel." She said before dozing off. Naruto soon followed her and they both started snoring lightly.
*Four hours later*
One of the crew walked through the ship shouting. "We're here. Grab your luggage and report to the right side of the ship for deboarding." The two shinobi woke up fairly quickly once he started shouting and walked to the right exit.
They walked down the plank type thing until they got to the dock. From there they just headed toward land. Once they were in the port city, they began to look around for locals who looked knowledgeable.
They found an older woman working a fruit stand and decided to ask her for directions. "Excuse me ma'am but do you know how to get to Kirigakure from here?" She nodded at them. "Buy some mangoes and I'll tell you. They're one ryo for two." It seemed like a good deal to Naruto so he paid the lady.
After receiving their fruit, she told them directions. "I'd suggest getting yourself a compass and heading straight east until you see giant mountains. Those mountains mark the surroundings of Kiri. Also, don't stray from the roads. There's some ravines here and there so you have to take the roads." Naruto nodded and thanked the lady before they ran off. They got down the road a fair bit and quickly released their henges now that no one was around.
"I take it you've got a compass?" Amaya asked, taking a bite out of her mango. The boy nodded and pulled it out of his supply pouch. After tapping it a few times, the compass finally worked. East was to their direct left.
"We'll just head down this road until it forks left then." Amaya said, starting her walk. Naruto followed her and decided to start some small talk. "Hey Amaya-chan, your affinities are Katon and Doton, right?"
The Nara nodded. "Ashina-jiji said that if you get really good at two elements you can combine them into sub elements. So if you get good enough at your Katon and Doton, you can mix them and make Lava." The redhead said.
"That's interesting. Is it supposed to work with every element no matter if they're your natural affinities?" She asked. "Yep, it doesn't matter but from what the sword genie, as you call him, said mixing two elements is really difficult. It's like trying to dual wield swords in a battle, use ninjutsu, and read at the same time." The Uzumaki spotted the road leading to their left and they took it.
"You use two elements at the same time all the time." She pointed out. "I've seen you use both of your swords with added elemental chakra at the same time." Naruto shook his head. "It's not that simple though. Pushing elemental chakra into a blade is a whole lot different than mixing two elements in your mouth and spitting them out. With the blades, I can just set the right side of my body to Suiton and my left to Katon."
Amaya disagreed. "I want you to try and perform Katon: Ryuka no jutsu and Suiton: Mizurappa at the same time. Just do the hand seals for both one after another." Naruto sighed and did as she said.
It took him a few minutes but he went through hand seals and puffed his cheeks. When he opened his mouth, a small squirt of boiling water came out. It was so pathetic that it landed on Naruto's foot, scolding him.
While the redhead jumped up and down while blowing on his foot, Amaya laughed. "It's like you shot a cheap squirt gun. Oh, that's what I'm calling that jutsu. Futton: Shi no mizudeppō(Boil release: squirt gun of death)" Naruto glared at her.
"I want to see you try to mix Doton and Katon chakra in your mouth right now." The redhead fumed. The Nara smirked at him and flicked his nose. "No, I don't want to burn myself." She said before continuing to walk.
*Konoha, academy*
The students sat in the room without an instructor present. "What happened? It's noon and we haven't gotten our results yet!" One student raged. In the back, Chouji sat with Ino and they were talking about why Ayame wasn't there.
"Knowing her, she probably overslept or stopped on the way to watch the clouds." Ino said, earning a nod from the heavy set boy. "I wonder where Naruto is." The Akimichi said. "I don't know, those two always seem to be joined at the hip so he probably joined her in cloud watching." Chouji chuckled at her joke.
"They have seemed kind of close these last few years. Do you think they're a thing?" Chouji asked. Ino actually laughed out loud at that statement. "No, Amaya-chan considers boys troublesome and a waste of time. I think she's just asexual or something. That's the only explanation for how she ignores Sasuke-kun's charm." The fangirl returned to her basic instinct and fluttered her eyes at the emo.
"Or she saw how much of a downer he is." Chouji muttered under his breath. Ino turned to him with a death glare. "What did you say?" The girl said in a menacing manner. "I uh said that it's a downer that we've waited this long." Ino nodded at him.
"Yeah, hopefully Iruka-sensei will get here soon." As if it was magic, Iruka walked in a moment after. The man seemed quite tired and sad as well.
"I'm terribly sorry class but Mizuki disappeared last night and none of his papers were graded so I had to grade them. There's also an entire thing going down at the Nara compound. Hokage-sama wanted every chunin and above to be briefed."
The Nara part peeked Ino's interest. "What happened at the Nara compound?" The platinum blonde asked, raising her voice over everyone else's. "Hokage-sama didn't tell us to keep it from the civilians so I guess it's okay. This morning, the 4 Nara clan elders were found dead and Amaya-chan was gone.
Her mother found a note on her bed saying that she was leaving Konoha and that they'd find the bodies of the elders but she didn't do it. The motive is unknown but apparently Naruto-kun killed the elders before fleeing the village with Amaya-chan."
The class was shocked, not only about the class dobe killing 4 elders and fleeing the village but the lazy girl fleeing with him. "From what I understand, your father is going through the memories of the elder's now, Ino-chan. However, none of this matters and we must get back on track."
*Mizu no Kuni, a few hours later*
It was around 3 whenever the duo saw a giant wall and giant towers. "So this is Kirigakure." Naruto said, looking around and giving a quick spin. "I swear it's like your dobe act isn't an act." Amaya said.
"That hurts Amaya-chan." The boy said, clutching at his heart. It took them a few more minutes to get within sight of the gate. "Store your weapons pouch in your shadow. Also, let your hair down. The pineapple gives it away." Naruto said, turning his kunai and supply pouch to smoke, they drifted into his legs through the open bottom.
Amaya let down her hair and dropped her shinobi supplies into her shadow.
Now they just looked like a pair of kids that tried playing ninja dress up instead of actual shinobi. Whenever they reached the gate, the chunin gave them weird looks. "What do you two want?" the taller man asked.
"I'm trying to find a lost relative of mine." Naruto said, giving a sad look. "You see, my parents died when I was born and she's the only relative I know of. She wrote to me saying she was in Kiri."
The short man asked the next question. "Okay so who's the girl? And why are you two dressed like shinobi?" Amaya answered the question. "I'm his best friend, I go anywhere he goes. As for the outfit, we find that traveling while dressed like this means that less bandits go after you." She said, giving a goofy smile at the end.
"Do you know if your relative is a shinobi? Maybe we know her." The taller one asked. "Yeah, she's a jounin. She's got my red hair." Naruto said, grabbing a fist full of his locks. The two chunin paled at that.
"What's her name?" They asked with gulps. "Terumi Mei." The redhead said. "Uhm, follow me kids. I'm gonna take you to the Mizukage." The taller one said, leaving his shorter comrade at the gate.
While the three walked through the village and the two children looked around. "Why were you two so afraid of Oba-san?" Naruto asked. The chunin gave a dry chuckle. "You Oba-san is a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen. She wields the Hiramekarei and fear surrounds her name because of how she got Mangetsu to surrender, the previous owner of the Hiramekarei." The chunin said.
"What'd she do?" Amaya asked. "Well Mangetsu had the ability to turn his body into water so he was a pretty difficult opponent. Your Oba-san trapped him in a barrier and threatened to boil him with Katon jutsu. She became even more deadly once she unlocked her two Kekkei Genkai." The chunin stopped talking as they walked into a tall building.
He looked at the receptionist with a smile. "I'd like to speak with Mizukage-sama. The redhead behind me claims to be related to Mei-sama and I want to make sure it isn't a lie." The receptionist smiled at him.
"Well you're in luck, Mei-sama and Zabuza-sama are both in Mizukage-sama's office. Just head in." The chunin thanked her and walked up some stairs with the kids behind him. He got to a giant metal door and knocked on it.
"Come in." A voice shouted. The chunin opened the door and walked in with the kids. "Mizukage-sama, I intercepted these two at the gates. The redheaded boy claims to be the nephew of Mei-sama." The chunin said, standing billboard straight.
While the chunin spoke, the two tweens studied the three new people. The first person was a redheaded woman, Mei, they presumed. She had a dark blue long sleeve shirt covered with an ANBU flak jacket. The flak jacket was a slate gray and had extended shoulder pads that had the Kirigakure symbol on it.
From the looks of it, the jacket was held together by straps on the side. Her legs were covered by a long blue skirt with a slit down the side. Covering her feet were some slate gray high heeled sandals. Her headband around her forehead with a band the same color as her shirt. On her back was a two handled sword wrapped in bandages.
Standing beside her was a tall black haired man with bandages covering his face. They guessed this was Zabuza. His outfit consisted of a black long sleeved shirt covered with the same flak jacket as Mei. He had black anbu pants leading down to black sandals. Hanging on his back was a giant sword.
Lastly, the Mizukage. He was a young looking man, late twenties, the two guessed. The Mizukage had messay gray hair and he wore the common Kage robes without the hat. "It took you long enough, Naruto-chan." Mei said, squeezing the life out of the boy.
After sending the chunin out, Yagura spoke to Mei. "Mei-chan, stop choking the boy. We haven't even heard why he's here yet." Mei dropped the boy and spoke. "He's here because he left Konoha obviously. Oooo, Naruto-chan, you brought a girlfriend too?" Mei squeaked.
Off to the side, Yagura leaned to Zabuza. "I fear the day she ever has a child." The dark haired man nodded to his Kage. Mei was still squealing over Amaya so Naruto took the chance to speak. "As Oba-san said oh so graciously, I left Konoha. I was done with the discrimination and torture. I brought Amaya-chan with me because her clan was going to turn her into a breeding stock."
Yagura didn't even need to ask the source of Naruto's torture, Isobu was already informing him of his brother's presence. "So you seek solace in Kiri because your Oba-san is here?" Yagura asked, earning a nod.
"Plus I figured you wouldn't mind two new Kekkei Genkai." The redhead said. Yagura's face didn't change from its diplomatic form. Naruto didn't speak but instead just turned himself into a cloud of smoke before turning back.
Seeing her opportunity, Amaya sunk into Mei's shadow and came out of Naruto's. "I have complete control over my shadows. I can store things in them, turn them solid, or hide in them to travel anywhere." The girl said, before Mei draped over her shoulders.
"So how'd you meet my little Naruto-chan?" The woman asked. "Mei-chan, go over there." Yagura pointed over to Zabuza and the woman followed his order. "I swear she's like a housecat that doesn't get enough love. Anyways, continue." The Kage said.
Naruto chuckled a little. "Well as you can see, I can turn my body into smoke. While in my smoke form I can pretty much travel anywhere without being too conspicuous. The only problem about that form being that if too strong winds hit me then I'll die.
Other than that, I can turn objects into smoke and store them in my body." He released one of his kunai from his wrist. "While it's in smoke form I can control it and when I want to…" He turned it into a real kunai that dropped in his palm. "I can turn it back to normal. I can also control the smoke that comes from cigarettes, wood fires, or smoke bombs."
Yagura hummed. "I take it Amaya is a Nara then?" Said ravenette nodded. "The previous heiress to be exact." She said. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot." Naruto said, slipping his flak jacket off.
While the adults were trying to ignore the scars on his chest and stomach, they saw a giant cloud of smoke come from Naruto's back. It moved onto Yagura's desk and turned into a giant scroll.
"We stole Konoha's scroll of seals for ya." The male Uzumaki said, throwing his jacket back on. Yagura looked over the scroll at the two. "So you two managed to steal the scroll of the seals and escape from Konoha without alerting anyone, considering you two aren't dead?" Naruto shook his head.
"I also killed the 4 clan elders that were planning to make her a breeding stock but they were pretty easy to kill." The redhead said. Zabuza grinned at that part. "Now that we've got that out of the way, are you going to make us take a genin exam?" Amaya asked.
Yagura burst out laughing. "No no, I think the fact you're here with this scroll is fact enough that you're worthy to be shinobi." The Kage said, reaching into his desk and grabbing two headbands.
Both were clothed with the standard Kiri state gray. He threw them at the two who caught them. Naruto wrapped his around his forehead and Amaya wrapped hers around her left bicep. "I'm going to place you both on a genin team under Zabuza. Now before you say anything Mei, I'm just putting them under Zabuza officially. You can help them all you want. As I'm sure you two don't know, in Kiri we have a tradition with genin teams.
The genin have to live with their sensei so they can all get acquainted outside of the field. It's shown to be quite effective over the years. Anyways, I'll release you 4 to whatever. Just be back here tomorrow morning at 8 for mission assignments." The four bowed and walked out of the office.
Once they were outside of the building, Amaya started putting her hair back up when Mei stopped her. "Keep it down, you probably look better with it down." Mei said before leaning down and whispering in the girl's ear.
"Naruto-chan seems to like it. He's been sneaking peeks at you for a while now." Amaya forced her blush down and kept an eye on Naruto. By the end of the day, she'd catch him looking quite a few times.
"Alright kids, before we show you home, we gotta get you out of that Konoha attire and into some real Kirigakure style. Zabuza-kun, I want you to take care of Naruto-chan when we get there." The tall shinobi grunted at her.
"So you two a thing?" Naruto asked. Mei nodded enthusiastically, "Yep, that hunk is my fiance." She fluttered her eyes at the man. "Please never call him a hunk again. I feel like I'm gonna hurl." The redheaded male said, getting a chuckle from Zabuza.
"I'm gonna be blunt with you two, I have no idea who you are and why Yagura let you join us so easily. I don't trust either of you but if I must then I will train you." The eyebrow less man said. The two tweens shrugged at him, "Wouldn't expect anything less. We just got into kiri not even thirty minutes ago."
Mei spoke next, "Let's introduce ourselves later. Right now, it's time to shop. We'll meet you at Okami's." The redhead woman pulled away the girl and they disappeared into the crowd of the market. Naruto looked up at Zabuza.
"Does she always seem to be on drugs?" The Kiri nin nodded at him. "Yeah, I swear there's something wrong with her head but don't tell her I said that. I got a question about your Kekkei Genkai, so you can pull out objects from your skin and I'm guessing that's why you don't have anything under that flak jacket."
Naruto nodded. "Why don't you just wear fishnet or chainmail? It has holes for the smoke to go through and it's better armor than nothing." The older shinobi asked. The Uzumaki beside him facepalmed.
"I can't believe I didn't think of that. Let's go find some."
*With the women*
Mei was shoving clothing item after clothing item into Amaya's arms before the girl simply put them down. "Mei-san, please stop giving me items and let me look for myself." The redhead reluctantly agreed and followed the Nara around.
The ravenette stopped walking in front of the shoe section. "If you're getting new shoes, I suggest these high heeled sandals. They hurt like hell to be kicked by." Mei said, grabbing a shoe and showing the bottom.
"Are they difficult to walk in?" Amaya questioned. "Nope, they're just a little slimmer than normal sandals so it's not that bad." Mei said. The shadow user thought about it for a little before grabbing a pair that were her size.
"Where's the top section?"
*A little later at Okami's swords*
Naruto, in his new outfit, stood in front of the sword wall. Said new outfit consisted of a long sleeve heavy mesh top, it was a shinobi version of heavy mesh meaning it was cut proof and actually functioned as a top, with a flak jacket over it.
The flak jacket was a slate gray with two scroll pouches on the lower left side, a pocket on the right chest, a built-in pouch on the lower back, a neck guard, an extension to protect the lower stomach, and was fastened by a covered zipper. There was only minimal padding on the sides. The village's symbol was embedded on the back.
His lower half was covered in Kiri slate gray striped pants with his black sandals covering his feet. The Kiri headband was still around his forehead. Beside him was Zabuza who was also looking at the wall.
"So I take it you're gonna force us to learn kenjutsu?" Naruto asked the man beside him. "It would hurt my honor as a swordsman if my own students couldn't handle one." The redhead understood that.
"You're in luck, I already know kenjutsu." Naruto said, releasing both of his swords. Zabuza admired the craftsmanship of them. "They're nice but having them doesn't mean you know how to use them. I'm sure Okami wouldn't mind us using his training field while we wait on the women." Zabuza said, his aura turning feral.
"Keep your sword on your back." Mei said, walking into the store. The two males turned around and Naruto's eyes stayed on Amaya's form. She had a Kiri gray striped hoodie with the same flak jacket as his covering it. Covering her legs were a dark blue pair of ANBU pants leading down to the gray high heeled sandals.
It seemed that Mei influenced her as her headband was around her forehead and she still had her hair down. Something about her mid back length hair made Naruto go stupid. Zabuza nudged him to stop his staring.
The boy did indeed stop and the two girls joined them looking at the weapons. "I already told Amaya-chan how we're gonna force them to learn kenjutsu. She should find a sword soon enough." The older Uzumaki said to her fiance.
"Naruto already has swords. Apparently the brat can dual wield." Zabuza said, his tone showing he didn't believe it. "What kind of sword are you trying to get for her?" Naruto asked, standing in front of the two.
"A good starter that can also be used for years." Mei said, looking around for the shop owner. He seemed to be in the back or something so they were on their own. "Amaya-chan, come over here for a second." The redhead male said, reaching into his vest pocket and producing a small scroll.
He flipped out the scroll, opening it and releasing the seal on it. In a puff of smoke, one of his scabbards was in his hand and the scroll was back in the pocket. "Retraction seal, it puts the scroll back in its place after chakra enters it." Naruto answered Mei's unasked question while putting his fire sword into the scabbard.
"Here." He said, handing the sword to Amaya. "Take this, it's a better sword than any on that wall." The Nara grabbed the scabbard and looked at him. "You sure?" Naruto nodded at her.
"Yeah. Sorry you two but there's only one style that works with these swords. I'm the only one alive to teach it." Zabuza snorted. "Oh yeah? And why are you the only one alive to teach it?" Naruto stared him directly in the eye.
"Because I'm the last of the Uzumaki royal family."
