*So uh...I got another story idea...It won't impede on this story because I refuse to stop this one until I reach a certain point but keep an eye out for it.
Also, I just wanted to remind you all that this is a strict Naruto x Amaya. Don't try and get me to add another girl because I won't. Also, the shunshin explanation in this chapter is my variation of it combining all I've seen written about it in fanfiction and such so don't go saying it's incorrect*
Naruto went through taijutsu kata in the backyard in shorts and no top. It had been two days since they were released from the hospital and they'd been prevented from training by Zabuza and Mei. Mostly Mei though, she was overprotective as hell when she wanted to be.
He heard the backdoor slide open and someone step outside but continued his kata. "You know if Mei-chan saw you then she'd hurt the both of us." Zabuza said, walking to the side of the boy. "I know but I can't stay cooped up in the house all the time. I have too much energy for that." The redhead responded.
"I can understand that. So, would you be able to sense when Mei-chan gets home?" Naruto knew where he was going with this. "Yeah, if I turn on my sensing field and yes, a spar does sound fun."
Zabuza smirked, showing off his shark-like teeth. That's when Naruto noticed the man didn't have his mask on. "You have to wash it?" A nod was his only answer. The smoke escaped Naruto's arm and his sword materialized.
Zabuza pulled Kubikirbocho off his back and widened his stance. "No ninjutsu, everything else is fair game." The ninja swordsman said. Naruto slipped his right foot back and his left forward. After bending his knees a little, he held his sword with his left hand and pointed it at Zabuza.
"Hajime." The two swordsmen launched at each other with Zabuza performing a downward slash. Naruto slid to the side and thrust his sword at Zabuza's stomach. Using his earlier slash momentum, the Kiri jounin swept diagonal to hit Naruto's blade.
Naruto took advantage and swirled with his sword to the side. While in the whirlpool like movement, he crouched down and allowed his blade to slice at Zabuza. The tall man jumped back and chuckled.
"We should've spared sooner. I hope you're holding back." Naruto smirked at his elder. "The name of my style has nin in it, meaning that it's supposed to be used with ninjutsu." The redhead said while shooting forward to the man.
Zabuza held up his sword and Naruto met him for a blade lock battle of strength. The winner of the strength battle was picked the moment it began. Not only was Zabuza older, stronger, and bigger but he knew exactly how to push on his sword.
Even though all was against him, Naruto smirked through the blades. The fact that Zabuza didn't know why the boy was smirking scared him. The eyebrowless shinobi hardly saw the senbon shoot out of Naruto's mouth at high speeds.
Zabuza didn't dare to move his neck, the senbon was moving too fast for him to properly dodge. He felt the senbon pierce his skin a little right of his Adam's apple. His eyelids grew heavy and he dropped like a rock.
"The good old Matsukaze always comes through." Naruto commented while pulling out the metal needle. It was then that he felt Mei enter his field, she was a few feet from the front door. Cursing, he turned both swords into smoke and placed them in his body with Kubikiribocho in his neck and back.
Grabbing Zabuza, he pushed chakra into his arms and legs to push off onto the balcony like roof. Using his open window, he climbed in with the man and ran to Zabuza's(and Mei's) room. He set the man on the bed and began casually walking out as he felt Mei on the stairs.
"Damn lazy bum." Naruto said, adding a fake annoyance to it as Mei got to the top of the stairs. "What? Is Zabuza-kun still asleep?" The woman asked. Naruto nodded, "Yeah, I was gonna ask him to teach Amaya-chan and I the shunshin so we don't have to constantly use our Kekkei Genkai."
The female redhead nodded. "I'll teach you two, let's let him sleep." She closed the door and walked to Amaya's room. After knocking on the door, she walked straight in. The Nara in the room was laying on her bed reading a book.
"Come on." Mei said before walking out. The Terumi began to walk down the stairs and shouted when she got halfway. "Oh and get properly dressed. I'm not letting you leave my house in that." Hoping to see something good, again, Naruto slid into Amaya's room.
Much to his disappointment, the girl was wearing some sweats and a hoodie. Playing it off, he spoke. "That seems proper enough to me." It seemed Mei had super hearing as she responded to him.
"I was talking to you mister."
*A little later*
Naruto and Amaya, now in their normal shinobi garb, walked beside Mei down the street. The three had already passed the usual training grounds for them so Naruto asked. "Where are we going?"
Mei didn't respond for a few moments until she stopped in front of a building that said Academy. "Well, I know I said I'd teach you but I figured you might want to see the other variations of the shunshin and I don't know them all. One of the chunin instructors here knows three variations and could probably teach you better."
It seemed reasonable to the kids and they followed her in. They walked into the main office and Mei began speaking to the receptionist. "Hello, do you know if Haku-chan is available right now?"
The woman at the desk looked at a schedule and nodded. "She should be in the training room right now. She's on her break." Mei thanked her and the three began walking down hallways. They got to a door and Mei pushed it open.
Inside, they found a giant pool and a girl walking around on the water. She had long black hair and a striped long sleeve meeting striped pants. Over her shirt was a Kiri vest like the genin's with a clan symbol on the back although the genin couldn't see it. "Hey Haku-chan!" Mei shouted, getting the girl's attention.
The girl walked over to the group and greeted them. "Hello Mei-san. Your students?" Haku asked. Naruto stepped forward with his hand out. "Uzumaki Naruto." She shook his hand and turned to Amaya who also had her hand out.
"Nara Amaya." After both hands were shook, she gave her name. "Yuki Haku, nice to meet the both of you." The Yuki said with a bow. "So, what brings you to the academy? You two need to learn the water walking exercise?"
Both genin shook their heads at her. "I want them to learn the shunshin and figured you're the best to teach it." The younger girl nodded at her. "Alright then, would you two like to learn the Mizu Shunshin, The Kiri Shunshin, or a normal Shunshin?"
Amaya answered. "Is there a performance difference?" Haku shook her head. "No, the only variation is what you cover yourself with whenever you use it. The Mizu Shunshin leaves water where you were, the Kiri Shunshin leaves some mist, and the normal leaves a smoke cloud."
The tweens debated it a bit in their minds before answering. "The Mizu would be best because enemies would think we were a Mizu bunshin but could we learn to do it without anything being left so Mei won't hurt us if we use it in her house?"
The Yuki giggled at it and nodded. "Yeah, people just prefer to use it with something covering it so people can confuse it with something else. Anyways, the jutsu is pretty simple. Form a half tiger seal and pump chakra to your calf and thigh muscles. While you're doing that, imagine the place you want to go and you'll go there. To do the Mizu version, secrete some Suiton chakra from your skin to form the puddle."
The two genin tried it and vanished with a puddle forming where they were. "Very good." A moment later Amaya appeared without anything, just appearing. "That's very good for the first use. I do wonder where your comrade is though."
A few minutes passed and Naruto appeared with a bag of takeout. "Where the hell did you get that?" Mei asked. "Eria's sushi. She was really nice." The boy said while looking in the bag. "Eria's place is on the other side of the village. There's no way you could travel that far with a single shunshin. Shunshins are meant for short travel and quick succession for long distances." Haku said.
Naruto's response was to hand her a plastic container of sushi. "Spider rolls, hope you like." Amaya looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Where's ours?" Naruto looked at her with a blank face.
"In the bag, you get it when we get home." Mei laughed out loud with Haku joining her. "Keep it up and your shadow might accidentally get solidified into a spike." Naruto waved off her threat. "Anyways, thanks Haku-san. That's my thanks as well." The older ravenette shook her head in amusement and bowed.
"You're welcome. Now, I better get ready for my next class unless you three want to help?" Mei had already answered before either genin could. "Sorry but I have a lazy fiance to wake up." Haku nodded in understanding.
"It was nice meeting you two. Have a nice day." With that, the three walked out of the room. "Hey Mei, how far is the shunshin supposed to max out at?" Amaya asked. "I think it's like 30 meters. I've never tested it out." The redhead woman said.
*A little later at their house*
Whenever Mei opened the door and they entered the kitchen, they found Zabuza holding some ice to his neck. "The hell happened to you?" Mei asked. "Midori bit my neck, it didn't leave a mark but it hurts like hell." The man said.
His fiance walked over and moved the ice over to look. "I'm sorry he did that but you need to be a man about it." Naruto laughed at him for that while setting all the sushi down. Making sure Mei wasn't looking, Zabuza subtly launched the earlier senbon at Naruto.
The small needle would've hit the boy in the neck if he didn't turn it to smoke. With a smug smirk, Naruto popped a piece of sushi in his mouth. "Little bastard." Zabuza muttered. "What was that?" Zabuza shook his head. "Nothing."
The four sat down and ate the sushi. After they were done eating, Zabuza stood and began walking to the backyard. "C'mon, I want to show you two another jutsu that's very useful." The two genin followed him.
Once in the backyard, Zabuza shot some water onto the ground and moved on top of it. "This is called the 'Hiding In Water Technique'. You basically merge yourselves with the water to hide. This is usually used with respirators to stay in for long periods of time." The man said while slowly sinking into the puddle.
"So how do you do it?" Amaya asked just as Zabuza fully entered the puddle. "You have to displace the water in the puddle by absorbing it into your own body. The thing is that you have to leave enough water to cover your head from anyone walking by." Mei said, pointing at the puddle and how it looks normal.
Suddenly, Zabuza jumped out and ran at the three. He stopped just a little in front of them and laughed. "As you can see, it's very effective." The two genin nodded. "You'll train in this for a couple days before we refine your other jutsu."
*A week later*
Naruto and Amaya walked down the main road, looking for a place to eat lunch when they noticed a group of shinobi outside a cafe. Figuring they'd see what the commotion was about, they walked over.
It seemed that some genin had just returned from their first C-rank and tried to enter the shinobi cafe/bar. The guard at the door had stopped them and the genin had fought him. While the team tried to fight him, another genin team showed up, trying to stop the fight.
It seemed that the teams' sensei were very amused with the sight if the two jounin watching told them anything. Team Zabuza took the opportunity and studied each of them, starting with the two jounin.
There was a male and a female. The male had short white hair, purple eyes, and a rounded chin. His clothing was the same as Zabuza's with a few changes. Kubikiribochi being replaced with a standard katana, a clan symbol sitting on the man's shoulder beside the Kiri symbol, the sleeves being gone, and a water battle on his belt.
The female had long dark purple hair, pale gray eyes, and a pointy face. Her outfit consisted of a striped long sleeve top and pants with a version of the flak jacket. It was slate gray and very thin, with a zipper in the middle.
Moving to the genin, there were 6 in total with 4 females and 2 males. The male on the fighting side had short black hair, hazel eyes, and a pointy face. His outfit was a dark green striped baggy long sleeve, black pants, and the same flak jacket as the woman.
The other male had a striking resemblance to the male jounin, his facial structure and appearance were pretty much exactly the same. His outfit was a red sleeveless top, camouflage pants, and the same flak jacket as Naruto with the same clan marking as the jounin on his back. He also carried a water bottle on his belt.
The four female genin seemed to be evenly split between the two teams. Team Zabuza started on the fighting team's females. One had long black hair with white streaks and a zigzag up the middle, two red dots above her blue eyes, and a rounded face.
Her outfit was a baggy white kimono type thing with the same flak jacket as Naruto and a clan symbol on her back. She seemed to be the one who started the fight. The other attacking female had short black hair, small black eyes, and a pointy chin.
Her outfit looked like a formal black kimono with a slit on the leg for movement. She also had the same flak jacket as Naruto with a different clan symbol on her back. Moving to the last two females, they both certainly looked unique.
One had long gray hair, light purple eyes, and a pointy face. She had an all black Hakama with a shorter bottom as it stopped just below her knees. Covering her chest was another Naruto styled flak jacket with a different clan symbol on it.
The last female was very different. She had long dark blue hair, bluish skin with gill marks under her green eyes, and a heart shaped face. Her outfit was very simplistic. It was a black t-shirt covered by a Naruto style flak jacket with another clan symbol.
Her bottom was covered in some tight dark blue pants. (A/N: They all have black sandals on and black clothed headbands around the forehead.) Naruto looked over to his teammate and held up two fingers. Naruto turned to smoke as the girl walked over.
"Hey, what seems to be the problem?" Amaya asked, surprisingly gaining everyone's attention. "Your fellow pipsqueeks are trying to get into a bar because they think they're hot shit. I suggest getting them out of here before they get hurt." The guard said.
Amaya smiled at him and cracked her neck to the side. "I believe it's you who's gonna be hurt." Her shadow rose up his legs and locked him in place as Naruto returned to his human form behind him.
With a punch to the neck, the man was unconscious. Amaya let her shadow return and the man fell. Without a word, Team Zabuza walked into the cafe, leaving the other two teams stunned. After a few moments, Naruto popped his head out the door.
"Well come on, the guard won't be unconscious for long." The 6 other genin scurried in with their sensei behind them. After getting a giant table from the waitress, they all sat down at a big rectangle table. Team Zabuza sat with the jounin opposite to their other genin.
"So who're you two?" The white haired male genin asked. "It is rude to ask for names without giving yours first." Amaya said, looking at her menu. "Hozuki Suigetsu, now yours?" Naruto spoke next.
"We'll give ours whenever we get everyone else's names. Including the jounin." The white haired jounin smirked at the boy. He looked at the genin and held out his hand. "Go ahead, you don't want to be rude." His voice was very amused.
A chain reaction started going down the table, starting with the shark girl. "Hoshigaki Miki." The next was Suigetsu so he got passed. The gray haired female was next. "Karatachi Chiyomi." The black and white haired kunoichi spoke next. "Kaguya Yamishi."
There were two genin left. The black haired male spoke his name. "Yuki Tsukirai." The short haired ravenette was last. "Nagisa Mizuko." All genin eyes moved to the jounin. The male spoke first. "Hozuki Mangetsu at your service." He even did a little head tilt.
The female jounin scoffed at her male counterpart before speaking. "Shimizu Umi." Team Zabuza nodded and ordered some drinks when the waitress came by. After a few minutes passed, Suigetsu got impatient.
"Well come on, we've told you our names." The two genin under Zabuza were trying their best to keep a smirk off their faces. After a little longer, Naruto finally gave in. "Uzumaki Naruto." Amaya sighed and gave in as well. "Nara Amaya."
Suigetsu groaned and slammed his head against the table. "Are you two chunin?" Mizuko asked. They shook their heads. "I don't remember you from the academy and you're too young to be jounin. So how are you genin?" The girl asked.
"We stole a very important scroll from Konoha and gave it to Mizukage-sama. He gave us the rank of genin and a home in return." Naruto answered. Mangetsu laughed at that. "He also made you the apprentices of Zabuza. One thing he didn't do was make you Mei's nephew."
Naruto let a smirk play at his lips as he looked at the older swordsman. "You're correct. Although the lazy bastard hasn't taught us much in the past two and a half weeks we've been here." That got a smile from Mangetsu.
"Zabuza has always been a lousy teacher. I take it he sent you two out for lunch?" Amaya shook her head. "No, Mei sent us for groceries but we figured meeting our fellow genin would be a good enough excuse not to do it."
Many of the shinobi were amused by that. "Well let's give you two a better reason." Mangetsu said, calling over the waitress. "Can we get some sake please?"
