*These chunin exams differ from canon, they hold many of the same bases with modifications while some pieces are of my own mind.*
Okami and Yagura stood in front of the 8 Kirigakure genin with a smile on their faces. They were in Okami's shop, both adults standing in front of the cloth covered counter.
"It's been a long 3 weeks for the 8 of you and I've got a reward for each of you, courtesy of Okami." Yagura moved to the side and yanked the cloth off the counter, revealing eight identical Katana.
They all had a slate gray Saya, a black circle Tsuba, a slate gray Ito with a red Same underneath, and finally the Kashira was black with the Kiri symbol engraved on them. Okami grabbed the one closest to him and removed the blade from the Saya.
The blade itself was black and curved like a normal Katana. "These swords are what you all will be using during the Chunin Exams. Each has a chakra converter in the handle so just channel regular chakra into it and it will convert it to Futon." The forger explained.
Suigetsu was amazed. "How long did it take to make all of these?" The Hozuki asked. "Well, they're all just regular ANBU issue Katana with a few modifications so they took me a week and a half."
Okami put away the blade and clapped his hands. "I wish you all luck in the exams." With that, the retired shinobi retreated into the back of his shop. Yagura handed out all the swords with a satisfied grin.
"Each of you go home and pack for a trip to Konoha. We'll all meet up at the main gate in 4 hours." Each genin bowed and began to leave. "Naruto, Amaya, your masks." Yagura said, throwing two scrolls at the genin.
"The brown one is Naruto's. You can guess who the other belongs to." Yagura said before leaving in a shunshin. The genin deposited the scrolls into their pouches and walked out. "It's going to be weird seeing them all again." Naruto said, looking up into the misty sky.
Amaya just nodded her agreement and they walked their way home, holding their new swords in their hands. Once entering the home, they went to their rooms to pack. It only took them 30 minutes to pack and they were in the living room lounging.
Whenever the adults walked in, Naruto was adjusting the Saya holder for his armor's back while Amaya was helping him. "You two got your swords?" Zabuza asked, getting nods. "Your masks?" Mei asked, sitting on the couch beside them.
They gave her the scrolls from their pouches and continued their work on the armor vest. Mei opened the black scroll and out came a plain white Kiri ANBU mask. After opening the other, she deemed them exact copies despite one being slimmer for Amaya's face.
By the time she was done doing that, the two genin finished setting up the vest. Naruto put it on and did a couple practice draws. When he stopped, Mei threw the masks at them. "Go ahead and put them on, we gotta show you two how to control the seals within."
The two genin slid the masks on and their hair colors instantly changed. Amaya became a blonde and Naruto became a ravenette. "The hair color is a preset but the voice modulator is chakra activated. Place some chakra into your lips, it'll activate the seal.
Adding more chakra will make your voice higher and sucking the chakra out the seal makes it deeper. Not channeling or taking any chakra will result in your normal voice." Zabuza instructed, leaning against the door frame.
The two genin were glad they were taught the Chakra Absorption Technique from Kisame and tested out different voices. Whenever they were done playing with it, they decided on what to do.
Amaya chose to go with a higher voice, one that sounded a lot like Kushimaru, while Naruto went with a slightly deeper one very reminiscent of his sensei. Zabuza pushed off of the wall and nodded at the two.
"It's good you two decided to model your voices off someone, it makes giving you false names a lot easier." The swordsman said. "So, Amaya-chan, Kuriarare Akua is good for you. Naruto-kun, Momochi Arashi."
They looked at each other and shook their heads. "You're terrible at naming Zabuza-sensei. Water and Storm aren't exactly the greatest names." Amaya commented. Their sensei waved her off and spoke.
"Whenever we get close to Konoha, I want the both of you to hide your chakra. We don't need you getting recognized by it." Zabuza said.
*A couple days later*
Sarutobi Hiruzen sat in his office, thinking about the letter he got from the Mizukage. It said that he was sending three genin teams and that he wished the Hokage's genin luck as they'd need it.
Although he'd wanted to just put it as arrogance, he couldn't ignore his gut feeling that it wasn't. An ANBU suddenly appeared in front of his desk. "The genin from Kirigakure have reached the main gate, Hokage-sama."
The old Kage nodded and got out of his chair. Without a word, he shunshined to the main gate to greet the Kiri nin. He fully expected them to be no one noteworthy considering the Civil War going on in Kiri.
Once at the gate, he saw that his expectation was wrong. Out of the three sensei, all three were in the bingo book with fairly high bounties. Momochi Zabuza, The Kirigakure no Kijin. Hozuki Mangetsu, The Kijin no Sairai. Finally, Shimizu Umi, The Inazuma no ken(lightning fist).
Even the genin seemed to be noteworthy. Just from a glance, he saw of Hoshigaki, another Hozuki, a Karatachi, a Kaguya, and what he assumed to be a Yuki. Add in the two masked genin and he didn't know what to think.
"Welcome to Konohagakure no Sato. You 11 have arrived a little early so the exams don't start for another three days. Feel free to explore my village and take a gander at our local businesses. Now, If you'll excuse me."
The Hokage had left just as soon as he appeared. His welcome was short, sweet, and to the point which none of the shinobi minded. An ANBU appeared in front of the 11 Kirigakure ninja. "Follow me to your lodgings."
*Nami no Kuni*
In the newly constructed town hall, Yagura sat across from Tsunami who sat at a desk. "I can see you've done very well with your new position." The Mizukage commented. "Yes, well under a threat you can accomplish pretty much anything." Tsunami said, obviously not enthused about his presence.
"I've decided to come visit you and your village to give an offer." Yagura stood and walked to the window to look out. "What is your offer?" Yagura turned to her. "To change your village from a simple fishing village into a branch of Kirigakure, pretty much making you a part of a hidden village."
Tsunami placed her hands under her chin. "What is the point in doing this? From what I know, shinobi only cause death." Yagura had to agree with that. "First, it would make your village immune to someone like Gato ever happening again. Second, your economy would grow with Kirigakure. Third, you get more allies to trade with."
Tsunami's face told nothing of what she was thinking. "I would like to speak with my villagers about it. At the end of the day, it's their decision." Yagura nodded at her. "I will be in your motel with my swordsmen if needed."
*Back in Konoha*
The three Kirigakure teams, minus their sensei, walked down the main road of Konoha. They'd already got their stuff settled into their hotel rooms so they had nothing else better to do. As much as they didn't want to, they had to stay away from the places Naruto and Amaya used to frequent.
As they walked, they were just looking at what they passed. Suigetsu decided to drag the other two males away into a flower shop. Once inside, he placed a hand on both of their shoulders. "We gotta get flowers for the girls. Maybe one of em might show interest in us." Suigetsu said.
"I don't know about you two but I already got a girlfriend. I'll just get flowers for her." Naruto said, earning glares. They heard someone clear their throat and turned to a blonde girl behind the counter.
"If you three are just going to stand there then get out but if you'd like something then please ask." Ino said. The three males walked over and Suigetsu spoke for them. "We need flowers for some girls."
Tsukirai smirked at the boy. "You mean you want to get flowers for Miki." Suigetsu gave the Yuki the finger. Ino giggled and shook her head in amusement. "Do you know what type of flowers she would like?"
Suigetsu rubbed the back of his neck, leaving Tsukirai to answer. "I saw her looking at some Ocean Pearls during a mission." The boy supplied. "We got a few of those, what about you two?" Ino asked.
"I'll take some black and white roses." Naruto said, getting a nod. "Some white lilies?" Tsukirai said. It was more of a question since he didn't know much about flowers. "I'll be back in a few minutes with your flowers."
The girl left and returned a little later with all three bouquets. "150 ryo for it all." Naruto paid for them and they were about to leave when Ino started asking them things. "So, you three here for the chunin exams?"
The three males nodded. "Are you two from clans?" She asked. The Yuki and Hozuki nodded. "Do you wear that mask for a reason? Is your face really messed up?" Naruto would've happily forgotten the girl's chatterness.
"Yes, I wear it for a reason. No, my face is not messed up. Now, excuse us." He pulled his fellow males out with the flowers. Once outside, they quickly found the girls. It was quite easy considering they were getting harassed by some Konoha genin.
Naruto grabbed both of his male friends and pointed at the group. "Perhaps the tree huggers need to learn how to leave our women alone."
The group of women all stood with aggravated faces. In front of them were three Konoha genin, two males and a pink haired female. One of the males was practically sexually harassing them with his eyes while the other started trying to convince them into joining Konoha once finding out they were from clans.
The three male Kiri genin quickly got in front of their comrades. "Fuck off before I show you how far I can shove my sword up your asses." Suigetsu threatened, his Katana in hand. Naruto chuckled at that.
"Just leave our comrades alone and we won't cripple you." Naruto said, releasing some KI. He laughed when all three Konoha genin practically crumbled. Turning back to the girls, Suigetsu asked the question in the male's minds.
"Why didn't you just threaten them? I know we didn't have to do that for you." The females shrugged. "I thought it was funny that they thought they had a chance." Miki suggested, getting nods.
Naruto let up on his KI output and that proved to be the wrong thing to do. Sasuke had jumped up and attempted to stab Naruto with his kunai while Kiba had done the same with Suigetsu. Naruto looked down at the kunai protruding his smoky chest and turned around with it still there.
With a quick headbutt, the Uchiha was on the ground with a broken nose. Suigetsu on the other hand preferred to go for the jugular and gave a jab to Kiba's. When both males hit the ground, the female got up and checked on Sasuke.
'I see you haven't changed a bit, Sakura.' Naruto thought. "We better stay here until the ANBU arrive. We need to make sure that they know we weren't in the wrong." Naruto said.
*That night*
The 8 Kirigakure genin sat in a room, each one lounging on a different piece of furniture. "So, who were those dicks from earlier, Naruto?" Suigetsu asked. Naruto, whose mask was on his belt, finished his drink before speaking.
"The brunette was Inuzuka Kiba, the heir of the Inuzuka clan. He's a horndog pervert that thinks everyone is below him. The duck ass was Uchiha Sasuke, he's also a dick that thinks everyone is below him."
Amaya decided to include information about the girl. "The pink haired girl was Haruno Sakura, she's a standard talentless fangirl." All the Kunoichi groaned, they hated fangirls. "Y'all have fun, I'm gonna go." Naruto walked towards the door while putting his mask on.
"Where are you going?" Suigetsu asked. "Out, I'll see you all in the morning." He walked through the door and into the hallway. Once in the hallway, he quickly shunshined out.
The now ravenette male appeared on top of a roof in the south of the village. Across from the building he was on was a gate. On the gate was an Uzumaki swirl. Jumping off the roof, he landed in front of the gate.
After identifying the swirl lock on the gate as a blood seal, he used his blood to open it. The gate opened just a tiny bit and Naruto walked in before closing it. There was a barrier around the compound, a mini version of the one surrounding Konoha with extra defence purposes and an invisibility for the whole compound.
The compound was a small town with a single big home in the middle. The Uzumaki knew that wasn't the place he was after though. All Uzumaki towns/villages followed the same rules. Put all of the important jutsu and information in a small building as far away from the biggest as possible.
Naruto made a left turn towards the smallest building, it was a ramen stand to be exact. Pushing open the door, he lept the counter and went into the back. After moving the fridge, he saw the small swirl.
Placing chakra into the swirl caused a small opening to open. It was a little more than a chakra activated trap door with a ladder. Dropping down the hole, he was met with a dark hallway. He pulled out a chakra conductive kunai and channel Katon into it.
Using the kunai as a light source, he walked in the needed pattern to avoid the traps. He was met with another blood seal at the end of the hall to which he bypassed with blood. The double doors were pushed open with minimal effort.
The lights in the room were activated as soon as the doors opened. Surprisingly, there wasn't much in the room. It was small with a single table in the middle. On the table was a web type structure with scrolls in the holes.
There were only three scrolls. Naruto knew what each one was as well. The boy turned them to smoke and inserted them into his left arm. The Uzumaki turned and shunshined away.
*A few days later*
Naruto followed a chunin to the first exam. They'd come to the hotel in a group to escort them all away to the first exam but had split them up. As Naruto followed the chunin, he took notice of where they were going. They were heading in the direction of the academy which confused him slightly.
If they were gonna do a written exam then why break apart the genin? He shrugged it off as some weird rule and continued to follow. Soon enough, they arrived at the academy where the chunin led Naruto onto the training grounds.
Naruto immediately noticed something, the normal time trial obstacle course had been changed. Upon getting closer, he felt the small waver in his chakra. Genjutsu, the course wasn't altered, there was a genjutsu on it.
After dispelling it, the former redhead looked at the proctor with disinterest, if this was the first exam then Konoha had fallen. "You must get to the end of the course within 30 seconds. No jutsu allowed. Get ready on that line." The chunin instructed.
Naruto went onto the line and got ready. "3 2 1 begin!" The Uzumaki launched off, he leapt both bars with a single jump, cleared the monkey bars, leapt over the wall, and finally climbed over the net wall.
"10 seconds, very impressive. Head into the building and go to room 304." Naruto walked into the academy and up a flight of stairs when he saw a room labeled as 304. He shook his head at it and walked up another flight to the real 304.
Once entering, he was met with 6 Konoha genin. He saw three of them were from his own class and the others were from a year above. If he remembered names correctly, Rock Lee, Tenten, and Neji were the ones above.
The ones of his year just had to be Ino, Sasuke, and Sakura. As he saw the three, a thought came to mind. 'Why was Kiba with them? He wasn't with them at Nami. I wonder if I could tell them that it was my team at Nami.'
The 6 genin quickly caught onto him and Lee ran over. "Excuse me Kiri-nin-san but did you perhaps beat Sasuke-san the other day?" Naruto couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah, he was harassing my comrades so I told him to back off. I only broke his nose when he tried to stab me."
Ino and Sakura both ran over to cover for their precious Sasuke-kun. "No, you just attacked him from behind you baka." Sakura screeched. Even Ino cringed at the high frequency. "You were there, you should know that he attacked me from behind." Naruto said blandly.
Lee gave a very enthusiastic gasp. "How unyouthful." Naruto decided to change the subject, perhaps scare his former classmates. "I do wonder why the Inuzuka was with you two. He isn't on your team." Sakura seemed confused.
"How would you know who's on our team?" Naruto smirked under his mask. "Hm, wouldn't you like to know pinky?" Seeing that all the genin under Kakashi seemed annoyed, he decided to throw a bone.
"I believe your sensei was the first to tell you about our presence. I certainly know it wasn't Gato's men." With that, the masked boy walked off to an isolated corner while a train of new genin entered.
