A story I have been uploading elsewhere, but wanted to share here, as well. An AU world featuring mermaids and pirates, while borrowing the Steven Universe characters. Pearl is a nameless, dangerous pirate well known for chasing Diamond Authority ships. Jasper is a mergem. Crazy adventure ensues.

No matter how kind and fun Peridot is, Lapis is unable to reciprocate her feelings. After all, her heart is reserved for someone else. And no matter how hard Lapis tries not to, she keeps coming back to that monster of a gem.

After her lashing out at the Diamonds offer, Steven tries to connect with Spinel in a desperate hope to save her life and form a bridge back to redemption. But maybe it's not just Spinel that needs help. Maybe everyone is hurting.

A Human. A Gem. An alien that's both. Traveling through worlds with an impossible objective, our friend befriends the Crystal Gems and decides to stay over to see how life lives. However,the continuity is a little... broken. Follow our friend as situations left and right become just a little more twisted up.

"Something wrong, Steven?" Lapis asked uncertainly. Yes, something was wrong! Why did she possibly say that? No, wait, nothing was actually wrong at all. There was just something Steven was about to discover that Lapis wasn't sure she was prepared to tell him.

Steven heals a corrupted gem one day in a battle. Only problem is that this gem, Pyrite, can't be trusted. While she's not exactly diehard for Homeworld, she's a master pick pocket. The Crystal Gems leave Pyrite in the barn so Lapis and Peridot can watch her, but will they survive her thieving ways? Will they become accomplinces?

Their adventures on Earth having come to a close (for now), the Ruby Squad is redeployed to a communications station where a new adventure begins...
