La historia abarca fuera de Gensokyo, en un lugar llamado "el árbol de la vida" un árbol tan grande como una gigantesca montaña, donde Youkais de afuera vienen a vivir aquí, ya al ser desterrados o al estar sin hogar, Souta Iwakura, el y una niña mas, son los únicos humanos del árbol, sus días tranquilos acaban de terminar, al conocer a Yukari la aventura comienza.
