Anyway I'm working on chapter ten and I will start to speed things up for y'all with less detailed writing and exposition.

Chapter 8: The plan

———

Octavia had called for a gathering of her people as soon as the message had been played. They burned the food, fearing poison and she had commanded her people to stay underground. She however had a plan.

"At nightfall, a ship will come to collect anyone who wishes to defect. I expect apon hearing of my ascension no one will wish to however they don't know this. So, I will send people who Kane knows have hated me to board the ship, and I shall go with them."

"You're going to defect?" Hana asked, confusion and worry clear on her scar covered face. Out of all of her delegates, Hana was perhaps the most devoted since finding out she was commander.

"We can't March our people to the valley, the have the eye in the sky and the missiles. The only way to win this war is going to be from the inside." She said, walking over to the table which had a map of the valley. "We already have people on the inside, Murphy Emori and Raven, and knowing those three they have probably learned a lot about the enemy." She explained, looking to each of their faces for confirmation they understood. "If we can get more people in, we can exploit what they already likely know. A group of defectors will flee onto the ship, myself included, monty will set me up with comunications so that when o get there I will be able to radio back." Octavia added that last part hoping to make it seem like a smart play. It was, she just wasn't good at describing her plants. To was a warrior first, a leader second.

"They already know your face, it would be impossible for you to get on that ship," Indra said to Octavia.

"And impossible for us to win if I do not. I assume I will be able to take on the face of a past comander, if I was able to form them from nothing but my blood." She said, somehow knowing it would be true.

Gaia looked impressed, awed, while Indra just shook her head. "Even if you could, and you don't know that to be the case, how are you to make it believable?" She asked, a truly valid question. "Kane is there, he knows you would never allow your people to defect," she stated, it was true. She wouldn't have to worry about it now but before she had been comander, if her people had even thought about defecting she would have killed them.

It was truly a conundrum. It was impossible to get her people, herself, on that ship without it looking like they had allowed it.

"You could always have your people shoot them," the voice of a previous comander spoke.

Octavia shook her head, she wasn't going to kill her own people.

"Think about it," the creature moved closer, hand resting upon her shoulder, "it's the only way, in war sacrifices must be made and this is far less than you would have to make were you to March," he said honestly. It was true, only, she wouldn't trick her people and then kill them. No, if she did it she would tell them exactly what was happening.

"So we make it look like we aren't," she said, sighing, "we place to snipers on either side of the stretch and have them pick on some of the defectors."

The room was silent, everyone understood this was the only choice. It still didn't make it any less hard. "The causualitys will be far less than if we were to March, and we don't have much time before the farm dies."

The delagates around the table nodded solemnly.

"Gather the people who Kane would most expect to defect, and bring me the spy. Have them ready in two hours to meet me in the pit," Octavia said before storming from the room.

The cold water against her face did nothing at all, and after trying and trying to calm down she simply gave up. The pit in her stomach was far to deep to fill, and as she sat down on her sweetly mattress she allowed a single tear to flow from her eyes.

She had already collected Lexa and Shadheda, with her new plan she needed them with her. The had merged their bodies into hers only she still felt…. Alone…. Week…. Helpless.

"Octavia," the voice of the child, distorted but still there came through her mind. She closed her eyes, opening them once again to find herself in the strange world, the coordinate she somehow knew it to be called.

"Ymir," she said, turning to the faceless child. "If all things go according to plan the valley shall be ours by the end of the week," she promised the girl, the god.

The child nodded, aproaching closer to Octavia. Her hand reaches out to cup her cheek, Octavia wincing at the cold fingertips that felt almost dead.

"Just as you wield my power you will wear my skin," the god comander, her other hand cupping the other side of Octavia face, molding her skin.

Pain shot through every fiber of her being and Octavia shrieked. Time became lost as the pain overwhelmed her, as the girl seemed to rearrange the very atoms in her body.

Octavia opened her eyes, the pain still fresh in her mind yet gone on her flesh. She grasped her face, instantly aware that it was not her own. Her hands were far paler than her skin was, even after spending six years underground. Her fingers were more slender, her features more delicate. As she rose from the bed she found she was shorter. She walked to the bathroom, clothes sagging, far to big for her now small body.

As she stared in the mirror she saw a small, frail, frightened girl staring back. Blue eyes, white hair, pale skin. A child, no older that perhaps 13. She examined her features closely, taking note of everything. It was a strange feeling, being in someone else's body, but she didn't have enough time to ponder it.

She heard the door to her room open, in walking Three, no four people. She could tell one was Indra, the other Gaia, only the other footsteps she didn't know well enough.

"Octavia," Indra said, "the delagates have ensembles the people we worried as to why you weren't there." She informed her.

Oh no, Octavia thought, she was late. Not only that but she was going to have to explain her appearance to the people and that itself would be difficult.

"I'm fine, give me a second," the voice of a small girl came from her lips. She almost screeched, the voice sounding so different then her own.

She had never heard the true voice of Ymir, and only the voice of her mind and she wondered why. Still, a question for another day, she reminded herself as she exited the bathroom.

Waiting for her wher four people as she had expected. Gaia and Indra were among them, the other two were Bellamy and Clark. The were all shocked, confused at first, but why wouldn't they be. Octavia said nothing and began stripping of her commanders robes, not worrying that they were there. She tried to put on some of her regular clothes however they were still far to baggy.

"I'll have to barrow garments from Ethan or another child," she decided before tying up the pants and shirt. "Are we going to go to my people," she raised an eyebrow at the confusion everyone still seemed to have. This seemed to shock them out of it and they made their way to the pit.

When she entered the room she saw them, the people who had hated her the most. Many of them were flamekeepers, some of them were from the valley itself which made sense, she thought praising her delegates. Others were members of Skycrew, the same ones that had lost people due to her invasion of the bunker. And of course there were many others from different clans, people who Octavia recognized but was unaware of the anger they harbored towards her. Miller was there too, waiting for her by the spy and… Madi?

"What's she doing here?" Octavia commanded. The child, her successor, would be safer here than in the valley and everyone knew it.

"She wishes to return to her home, can you blame her," Eco said, causing Octavia, Gaia, and Clarke to shake their heads.

"She's safer here and that's why she will stay here untill I have taken the valley," Pctavia affirmed, noticing the shock on hee peoples faces when they realized this small girl was their commander.

"Octavia?" Echo questioned to which she nodded.

"I have a plan for taking the valley, a plan that is more of a gamble and you want to, on the off chance it doesn't work, sacrifice the future of our people," she asked, looking directly at Maddy.

Maddy shook her head, and Clarke rushed over to grab the girls had. She said something to her, something like "just wait a little longer" or of those lines. Maddy nodded and Clarke along with Bellamy and the girl left the room.

Octavia was now standing infront of her people, people who hated her the most out of everyone and she was forced to trust them. "I assume the delagates told you why you are here, of my plan, and I assume looking upon me you are aware of my power." It wasn't a threat, just a statement. "There is however one thing you are not aware of, you have a choice," she could feel the commanders anger, Lexas included, that she was trusting these people with the truth but she had no other choice. If she got in the ship and they realized they would have been mad enough to turn her in. So, she had to come forth and be honest, had to give them a choice. "The plan is solid and we will succeed at it," she said now that the girl wasn't here. It was a good plan, there were some variables but with her new power she would be able to overcome them. "But in order for us to do so some of you will have to die," they weren't shocked, they knew war meant sacrifice. Only, she hadn't yet told them how. "Some of you will have to die before event reaching the valley." She said, noticing her peoples confusion. "To make it seem believable we will have snipers shooting at us as we cross the final stretch to the ship, to make it seem believable some of you will not make it." She clarified. "This is why you get to choose, you can stay or March with me, possibly die before even reaching that valley." She paused watching the realization flooding their numb faces. "Those of you who wish to still go through with it will meet me tonight at the gate to polis," she said. She then ran through the plan again, knowing they had been told by the delegates but still wishing to assure they were informed. By the time they were released it was less than an hour till sunset and she still had something to do.

She found her brother sitting in the comand room with Monty and Harper, working on the coms to make sure she could comunicate with them. He looked up as he saw her walk in and smiled at her. Of course Monty and Harper were confused by her appearance but it seemed as if he had already debriefed them.

She returned Monty's awkward smile and nodded at Harper before crossing over to her brother. He was much taller than her in this form, as was everyone, and she had to crane her head upwards to see his face. "Can I speak with you?" She asked, to which he nodded and walked with her outside the room.

"What did you want to talk about O?" He asked when they had found a place far enough from listening ears to speak.

"On the off chance that my brilliant plan doesn't work, and that I don't return-" she began only to be interrupted.

"Let me stop you right there, your plan will work, there's no way for them to even predict your plan because they don't know your powers, this don't know your commander and how could they even suspect, it would be impossible." He finished, grabbing her small shoulders. And staring into her eyes.

"I know," Octavia argued, "but on the off chance it doesn't, and don't interrupt this time, there are some things I need to say and then some promises you need to make." She said, and he nodded.

"Anything O," he promised, and she spoke on.

"I just want to apologize for everything before the end of the world, for being to stubborn to see your reasons or forgive you, and for not telling you I love you," she said, attempted to keep herself from crying. Bellamy however, laughed.

"There's nothing you need to apologize for," he promised. "People forgive and move on in there own time and I was perfectly aware you never might."

"But I do," she said, wrapping her arms around his neck and allowing herself two tears as she inhaled his familiar scent.

"I love you O," he murmured into the embrace, something he wished he had gotten tos at six years ago.

"I know," she laughed, pulling back from the embrace and blinding the tears from her eyes.

"What did you need me to do?" He asked, referring to the second part of what she said.

"I need you to promise if I don't return you will watch after Ethan." She began. Bellamy had seen the maternal way his sister looked at that boy only didn't quite understand why, what it was. "His father didn't make the cut, Jaha died, Kane left, and now I'm doing the same," she said, the guilt evident in her voice. "I can't even say goodbye because if I did it would mean admitting I may never see him again and so I need you to promise, while I'm gone and if I don't return you'll take care of that child." Bellamy nodded solemnly at her, not even arguing about the fact that she would make it.

"I promise."
