I'm back! I figured I've had this chapter prepared for a while but I never published it! But from now on, I'll work on making a schedule for publishing another chapter for all of my stories! What if I don't forget that is.
But anyway, enjoy!
"I haven't had morning sickness so far, and with Greyson I did," she said. "Well some women have morning sickness with their pregnancies and some don't," Carina said. Carina finished up after 5 minutes. She printed off a few copies for Andy to have and Andy left. She tucked the ultrasounds away in her pocket and walked out of Grey Sloan and drove off in the car back to the station. Luckily, when she got back the others weren't back yet. She tucked the ultrasounds into the desk until Jack got back, which wasn't going to be for about another hour. When she was looking at something on her computer, he arrived back.
"Did you get it done?" he asked. "Yeah, she says I'm due May 1st," she said, pulling the ultrasounds out. She handed him the ultrasounds and he looked at them. "Wow, we're going to be a family of 4," he said. "We went through this once, let's do it again," she said, standing up and kissing him. Weeks went by, they both told the others when she was halfway through her pregnancy. They found out the gender, a little girl but they were stuck on what they were going to name her. Greyson turned 1 and was already walking around the house. They decided on her name when Andy was about 2 weeks away from giving birth. And a week before she was due on April 27th, Rowan Quinn Gibson was born at 9:45 am at 8 lbs and 2 ounces. Jack and Andy were both sitting on Andy's bed later that night with Andy holding Rowan.
"Well, I say that her name fits her perfectly," he said, grabbing her little finger. "At least we both agreed," she said. "And she looks more like you, with the nose," he said. "And, we get to introduce Greyson to her tomorrow; Jess texted me earlier saying that Greyson keeps saying baby, so I think he's ready as well," he added on. "Well, now we have to create another routine," she said. "But, Rowan is loved already by everyone," he said. They went to sleep later that night after he swaddled Rowan and laid her down, putting that Grey Sloan provided, Andy was up with her throughout the night back and forth. She fed Rowan and Jack changed her diaper because since they welcomed Rowan, he would be sleeping lightly. That next morning, they all were awake and Andy decided to take a shower 24 hours post-birth while Rowan was sleeping on Jack, who was sitting in the lounge chair.
She got done with her shower in 25 minutes, it felt good when the warm water would hit against her sore muscles from sitting in the uncomfortable hospital bed. She changed into her clothes and a postpartum pad that was in a more comfortable fitting than the hospital gown. She let her hair down after and blew dried it. She grabbed the bag that she had put hygiene supplies in and walked out. She put the bag back in the hospital bag. Jack got a text from Jess. "They're here, want me to go get them?" he asked. "Yeah, Jess I think hasn't been here before," she said, taking Rowan and sitting on the bed.
Rowan had a full head of hair, just like Greyson did when he was born. Rowan didn't care if she was swaddled or not, but usually, later in the night, she would want to be swaddled. She currently wasn't swaddled so she was laying on Andy's lap, with the boppy underneath raising her head to the normal position. She drank some water out of her cup and heard the door open and saw Jack walking in, holding Greyson and Jess behind him. "Greyson, who's that?" he asked, pointing to Rowan. "Baby," Greyson said. "Want to hold her buddy?" She asked. He shook his head yes. Jack sat him on the edge and came towards Andy. "Come here bud, I missed you," Andy said, holding her arms out slightly.
He went into her arms so he could sit on her lap. She picked up Rowan and put her on Greyson's lap, but she helped keep her head up. Jack sat on the edge. Jess got to hold her, and Jack was sitting down; with Greyson on his lap. They were there for about another hour and Jack walked down with her and a sleeping Greyson in his arms. He came back to the room after 5 minutes. "He surprisingly did better than I thought he would," she said, bouncing Rowan. "Exactly, now I think we both should get some rest," he said, now taking Rowan from her arms and laying down and putting her on his chest. They both went to sleep and were asleep for about a couple of hours. They were discharged that afternoon. Jess had elected to keep Greyson for at least another day so they could get settled. They walked through the door and Jack put Rowan down on the couch.
Andy went into the kitchen to refill her cup of water and put ice in it. She went back to the couch and unbuckled Rowan and picked her up. Jack had gone back to the car to get the bags that were both for him and her. She walked upstairs to grab the wrap and put Rowan in it. After 10 minutes she finally figured it out and carefully put Rowan in there. Jack had come back inside when she came back downstairs. "Did you get everything?" she asked, grabbing her cup. "I think I did," he said. "Now, we'll be situated later down the road; but I can tell that you're tired. So, go upstairs and take a nap. I'm not tired right now but I probably will be later." she said, kissing his temple. He walked upstairs to go take a nap and Andy decided to sit on the couch since she needed to rest some.
She heard her phone buzz and it was a text from Maya. "You up for visitors?" The message read. "I just sent Jack up to take a nap since he's been in and out of the house so maybe tomorrow. I still need to take a nap as well. Holding baby at the moment." she typed back. They hadn't told the others the gender or Rowan's name yet since they were keeping it a secret till birth from them at least. "Alright, isn't Greyson still with Jess?" Maya typed back. "He'll be back tomorrow sometime. I don't know when she is bringing him back," she said.
"The team is thinking about coming over sometime tomorrow. Maybe I could stop by her place and get him?" Maya asked. "That'll work perfectly. I think Jess mentioned she has to work at 2:00. Maybe pick him up at noon and come here at 1:30, since it is an off day for the station. You all can come over. I can talk things over with Jack and we can get lunch situated if none of you eat before coming." she said. "I can tell the others that we can come over at 1:30. I'll pick up Greyson for you. Can't wait to meet my niece or nephew!" Maya said. "Ok, see you," she said. She put her phone down and decided to put Rowan in her swing that was used previously by Greyson but they kept to be on the safe side.
After about 3 hours, she heard Jack coming down the stairs. "Well, good morning beautiful," she said, planting a kiss on his lips. "Maybe you were right, I needed that nap," he said. "Maya texted earlier. She said she and the team were thinking about coming over tomorrow. She also offered to pick up Grey at noon from Jess." she said. "What time were they thinking about?" he said, walking into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water. "I said they could come at 1:30. But we have to discuss lunch if they don't eat before they come here," she said, walking to the kitchen to grab a snack. "I'm fine with that," he said, opening the back door. She heard Rowan fussing in her swing. "Well, someone is hungry," she said, walking towards her swing. She picked her up and fed and burped her. Jack had come back inside from whatever he was doing outside.
"Where'd you go?" she asked, sitting Rowan back in the swing. "Had to water the flowers, I came back whenever you had Rowan after about 2 hours after you were asleep," he said. "Alright, I was just wondering," she said. She took a nap later in the day and Jack was outside with Rowan, who was in her bouncer that was previously used by Greyson as well. They both had elected to have Andy breastfeed along with breast milk in a bottle. They had wanted to get Rowan adapted to the bottle. They winded down for the rest of the night. Andy was up all night, but Jack also was as well. She up first that next morning, she had taken a shower; while Rowan was still asleep. he woke up next and took a shower and started on breakfast.
They ate and he started to clean the living room before the team got here. Right as scheduled, they heard the door knock. "They're here," he said, from the kitchen. She had been outside, getting the chairs positioned, he had already put the table out so she had to put the tables out. He was finishing up mixing the salad. He finished with the salad and handed it to her and went and opened the door. And as promised, Maya had Greyson. "Andy's outback, baby's in the swing," he said. They walked in and Maya put Greyson on the floor, who was walking towards the back door. Andy spotted Greyson. "Hey buddy, come here," she said, extending her arms. "So, are you ready to meet the baby?" she said, now putting Greyson down on the ground.
"Well, we wouldn't be here if we weren't ready," Dean said. She walked back inside and closed the door so they wouldn't hear them and saw Jack getting Rowan. "You got her?" she asked, grabbing the salad. "Yeah, I have her. Have to flip the burgers when I get out there though," he said. She opened the sliding door and set the salad on the table. "So, after 9 months of keeping the gender and name a secret; I would like to introduce Rowan Quinn Gibson," she said. "And, before you ask who gets to hold her first, technically it was Carina who held her first," he said, as he was passing Rowan to Hughes, who wanted to hold her first. "And, I think this name fits her," Hughes said. "Well, we split the picking. I picked the middle name and Andy picked the first name," he said, now flipping the burgers. "And, we both wanted something unique. Something that had meaning," she said. "Enough about Rowan, Hughes, how was the 2nd date?" he asked. "Well, let's just say that it was worse," Hughes said. "How! How can it be that bad?" Montgomery said.
"Well, he decided to take me to get drinks; and never did dinner. Which shocked me but I didn't say anything about it," she said. "Hey, to be honest, I think it'll be better if you're single." Dean chuckled. "Ok, so you think it's funny?" she said, hitting his shoulder. "Vic, you better watch it." Jack chuckled, putting the burgers on the plate. "I know that," Hughes said. "And, Vic, you seem happier when you're single; except for when you get mad at Montgomery," Maya said. "Now, that seems fair," Montgomery said. Warren had been the one holding Rowan by now. "Now, quit talking about me. Dean here mentioned that he's going on a date tonight." Hughes said.
"Woah, I never did say it was a date; it's just an old friend from high school that came to town and she wants to meet up," he said, holding his hands up. "You do know that these two think of it as a date right?" Andy said, pointing at Vic and Travis. "I know that," he said. They started to eat until Greyson started to get sleepy. "Well, I think the little man here is ready for his nap," Jack said, picking him up. His head was laying against Jack's shoulder which showed that he was tired. He walked inside and grabbed one of his sippy cups and poured milk into it. He walked upstairs and sat in the rocking chair and gave Greyson his cup. It usually took him about 30 minutes to fall asleep. But for some reason, it took him almost 45 minutes to.
He eventually went to sleep, so Jack laid him down in his crib, put the blanket he always had over him, and put a duck he had attached to next to him. He turned the sound machine on and walked out the door, closing it softly. He walked back down the stairs and back outside. "Well, that took him longer to go down," he said, sitting down and eating his food. "Probably because he knows that people are here and doesn't want to sleep," Warren said. "I know, but he was getting tired. I could tell by the way he was next to me," he said.
"Well, at least we get to enjoy the food still," Miller said. "Hey, and you get to make fun of us as well," Hughes said. "Now, you better watch it there," Jack said, pointing his fork at her. They were there for about another hour and they all left. Jack started to clean up the tables after everyone ate and left. And that's when Andy got a text, one that she didn't want to get. Sullivan had left her 3 years ago. She was an emotional wreck when he left her. And now she was happy with Jack, being married for 2 years. She didn't care where he went, she was happier than she was. She had a perfect life now and she loved it. She braved up and decided to read the text. "Andy, I know that I left you 3 years ago, and I regret that. Can't we just try again? Always know that I'll love you." the text said. "Robert, I've moved on. You hurt me, I'm happier than I was with you. I have a family.
I don't want to try again. As I said, I've moved on. I'm happy, I have a 1-year-old son and a 2-day old daughter. I'm married, there's a whole lot of things that you missed out on." she typed.
"I know I hurt you, I know. But I've been thinking, but the only person I am thinking about is you." the text said. "Robert, you don't understand. I'm with Gibson now. I'm happy, happier than I ever was with you. I have a family with him, we're both happy. I've moved on, I think it's time you do so as well, just don't message me again." she typed. She laid her phone on the counter and rubbed her face. Jack had come back inside, from cleaning the grill. "Hey, babe," he said, turning the sink on. And that's when he noticed her face. "You okay?" he asked, running his hands under the running water. "Robert reached out, he wants to get back together. But I told him that I was married and that I had a family," she said. "Sullivan needs to realize that he needs to move on," he said, drying his hands. "I told him that. I have, it's time for him to do so as well. He hurt me. But you don't because your perfect, just like our family is." she said. "And, always know that I'll love you more than he did," he said, planting a gentle kiss on her cheek.
He walked back outside because he had to finish putting the chairs back where they were. She put her phone on the charger and went to sit on the couch. She had been up since 5 am this morning and she was starting to get tired but she knew that she couldn't go to sleep because her upper back had been starting to bother her. He had come back inside, after about 15 minutes. He spotted her on the couch, rubbing her neck. "You alright?" he asked, sliding the back door closed. "Honestly, I'm just tired and sore," she said. "Well, I think I can fix that," he said, walking to the couch. He sat down behind her and started to rub her shoulders. "Maybe this will help," he whispered, massaging her shoulders. He started to rub her shoulders, with Andy moving her neck every so often.
"Ok, enlighten me. Give reasons why I chose to marry you," she said, leaning her head against his hand. "Well, you loved me and I loved you. And we both wanted to start a family; and that I treat you fair, and right," he whispered. Rowan started to cry, so that meant she was hungry and they both knew that Greyson would be up soon, since he usually napped for 2-3 hours, depending on how tired he would be. The team had left an hour ago, but it was slowly approaching 2 hours. Andy tried to get up but Jack said, "Stay right there. I'll get her." "Babe, you know I can get her myself," she said. "Well, your 2 days post-birth, you should be resting. But you are stubborn," he said, bending down to pick up Rowan out of the swing. "Ok fine, I did do it overboard today anyway," she said, relaxing back onto the couch.
He handed her the crying Rowan and sat down on the couch. Rowan was overall a quiet baby, who liked being held and bounced 24/7. Once she was fed, Andy handed her to Jack; because he was usually the better one at burping her. Once she was burped and changed he put her back in the swing and sat on the couch, putting his head on her shoulder. "You know, I think we should have at least one more," he said. "Well, we were planning on 2-3 kids; and we already have 2," she said. "We could discuss future names for a boy and girl," he said. "We could. We could also wait until we expect another," she said. "We could pick an R name for a boy and a G name for a girl, but that's if you want the R and G train going," he said. "No, I want to change it up," she said.
"I've always had a weird idea of naming a son of mine Wilder, Wilder Alexander," he said. "I've thought that as well, I was thinking names when I was with Robert 3 years ago, but he never wanted to have kids. He didn't even want to try and take on the responsibility. He never did." she said, running her fingers against his arms. "Well, now you have me. We're here, in this house as a family of four," he said. "I always liked the name Charlotte for a girl, but I never got stuck with a middle name that would go along with it," she said. "You know, my great grandma's middle name was Marie; which has come down from many of her generations, ending in my sister having the middle name since she was the only girl that my mom ever had, even if she is my stepmom; I consider her mom because I had a rough childhood," he said. "So, Wilder Alexander for a boy, and Charlotte Marie for a girl," she said. "I think that saves us the struggles of having to wait until the new little one is born," he said. "Now, I think I could use a nap," she said. "Well, you can go upstairs and take a nap and I can stay down here; until Greyson wakes up that is," he said.
She stood up, walked upstairs, and pulled the covers back, and laid down in their bedroom. After about a couple of minutes, she was asleep. He had decided it would be time to get the dishes done. He never did them when he came back in from cleaning outside because he had to get everything straightened out there. He had surprisingly not been tired, he usually had a lot of energy, but that usually wasn't all the time. He wouldn't have a lot of energy because Rowan was keeping them both up all night. He heard a cry coming from the baby monitor. And he looked at it and saw Greyson was now awake. He knew that he would have to get him to stop crying because he wanted Andy and Rowan to both at least get some rest, especially Andy.
But he also knew that Rowan would be up again if she was hungry. He slowly walked upstairs and into Greyson's room. He quietly opened the door and turned on the light. "Hey buddy, did you have a nice nap?" he said, turning off the white sound machine. "Baby?" Greyson said. "Baby's downstairs, but you have to be quiet. Mommy's asleep," he said, picking up Greyson out of his crib. "Now, let's get a fresh diaper on you and we'll go down and see baby," he said, laying Greyson down on the changing table. He grabbed a clean diaper and the wipes. Greyson still had ahold of his dog that he had since he was born.
He finished up changing his diaper and put back on his shorts, picked him up, and put him on the ground. Greyson walked out into the hallway and walked the short way to the stairs. He slid his way down them, with Jack following closely behind. "You hungry buddy?" he said, sitting on the floor. Greyson shook his head yes, so that meant he was hungry. He stood up and went to the kitchen. He looked in the fridge and he figured he would give him a few leftovers from when the team was over earlier.
He knew that he would have to cut the steak into smaller pieces because it would be a choking hazard if he gave them to Greyson in full pieces. They had all eaten the salad, surprisingly. But he decided to give him a little bit of yogurt to put in for the salad. He knew that Greyson had a kick for apples, so he grabbed an apple out of the fruit basket sitting on the island and cut it. He also knew that he would have to put a vegetable with it or Andy would get mad a little if he didn't.
He grabbed the baby carrots that were in the drawer in the fridge and put a few of them in with the apples. He plopped a couple of scoops of yogurt on the other side and put the now warm steak on the bigger part of the small plate. He knew that Greyson wasn't a huge fan of ketchup yet, so he didn't even attempt to put some on his plate. But he did put a side of ranch for the carrots. He grabbed the plate and walked back into the living room. "Here you go buddy," he said, sitting the plate on the coffee table. He heard Rowan, getting either fussy or getting hungry again.
He walked over to the swing and picked her up and laid her against his chest. She had calmed down and was fast asleep again. He sat down on the couch and watched Greyson, who was still eating his food. After 15 minutes, Greyson had been finally done with his food, just leaving a few pieces of steak. He grabbed his plate and walked into the kitchen, still holding Rowan, putting the plate in the sink, cleaning it off, and putting it in the dishwasher. He knew that he would have to put Rowan in the wrap sooner or later because his arms would get tired. And so he grabbed the wrap, which was sitting next to the swing on the floor.
He picked it up and, sat Rowan in her swing for 30 seconds so he could get the wrap put on properly. Once he got it on, he picked her back up, gently put her in the wrap, and went outside; Greyson followed closely behind him. Greyson found his outside toys in the corner of the patio, and he grabbed some of them and started to play with them. Jack took in the fresh smell of flowers that he and Andy both planted last year that would come back every year. Dogs were barking around them, but they got used to that by now because dogs would bark at everything there was. Andy had been asleep an hour so far, which was the rest she needed; and Jack knew that. He still had Rowan in the wrap, who was still sleeping away.
Greyson had now started to play in the sandbox that Jack built a while back before Rowan was born. Greyson was almost a spitting image of what Jack looked like when he was around his age. They would have to determine who Rowan would look like when she was a little bit older. The wind decided to blow, which was a heavy gust. "Greyson, let's go inside," he said, standing up from the chair he was sitting in. Greyson dropped the plastic shovel he had and walked inside, surprisingly very easily. It was usually harder to get him inside because he loved being outside.
Jack was running out of ideas on what to do. He had taken Greyson outside and let him play for a couple of hours and he played inside for a couple of hours. Andy had also been sleeping a couple of hours, which would probably lead to sleeping more. He could bake a cake, but he wasn't the best at cooking bakery-type items yet, not now at least. Rowan was still sleeping, in the wrap. He knew that she would be up again if she was hungry. That's when he heard his phone ring.
