A few weeks later, the company now known as Rollins Property Developers had completed the purchase of the so-called property in downtown Des Moines. Bayley had embraced the idea of taking on the ambitious challenge of turning the former workshop turned dead space into the best coffee shop in the city, although Seth could tell she still had doubts about whether they could pull it off. He didn't though, and he looked forward to the process of doing most of the work with her, and to the coffee shop becoming a reality.

The day after the purchase was finalised, they were on site at what they were for now calling Bean Again, simply to have something to refer to the building site as in conversation. The name of the future coffee shop wasn't set in stone, but it was the strongest contender they had. In any case, naming a finished coffee shop was a lot of time, effort and money away.

There was a public parking lot just around the corner from Bean Again, offering them somewhere fairly convenient to park their van while working or delivering materials to the site. Today, they were not delivering materials, they were there while the project's very first job got underway – a contractor was replacing the dilapidated large wooden doors that currently fronted the abandoned workshop space and kept it secure from access from the sidewalk with much sturdier, more secure metal ones. The new doors would remain for the duration of the renovations, keeping the site secure and the public safe. Seth had known the date when their purchase would be finalised and had organised the door company to be there the next day. The plan had worked out perfectly, so far.

After meeting the workers from the door company, Seth and Bayley left them to do their jobs. Within minutes, the old wooden doors were removed, shedding more light on the interior of the pretty much empty space. It also helped to freshen the air, which smelled of damp and engine oil.

"Okay, the doors will be done," Bayley said. "But where do we start our work?"

"We need to speak to that architect we used on our last project," Seth said. "You had a good rapport with her, so can you call her and get her to come down here for a meeting one day next week? We need to get some drawings done for the coffee shop. I can describe it all to her and help her measure up."

"Okay," Bayley said, happy to have a role to play. Of late, she was enjoying even more being 'Business Bay', as Seth called her. "I'll call her later and see what I can set up. And let me guess, that leaves us this week and probably next to work on cleaning this place up?"

"You already know that," Seth grinned. "You know enough about renovation work that you don't need me to tell you what needs to be done. Besides, you enjoy cleaning."

She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, totally. It's my favourite thing. Anyway, and this is a serious question, how do we go about cleaning somewhere in this kind of state? The roof is covered in dirt, crap, and damp. So are the walls. And the floor is covered in dirt, oil, grease and who knows what."

"We do it with pressure washers, industrial cleaning products, and hard work. Once we get it clean, we can see where the damp is coming from, and figure out how we fix it."

"We'll start tomorrow," Bayley said, putting her reluctance aside as best she could. Doing dirty work was part of property renovation, and that was their second line of work, after wrestling. In some ways it was also their hobby. They enjoyed spending time working on projects together, and often had fun doing it.

"Yes, we will. Today we have to go buy or hire the stuff we're going to need."

A short time later, Seth and Bayley were at a large hardware store. The had loaded up a cart with various industrial cleaning products and a pressure washer. Their business already owned one, but now they were getting a second one so that they could both work on the ceiling, walls and floor of Bean Again at the same time, cutting the time it would take to get the job done in half.

"Okay, we've got all these cleaning chemicals and stuff, and we've got the pressure washer. What else do we need?" Bayley asked as they walked up an aisle, browsing.

"We're going to be filling the air with a lot of nasty crap when we start blasting those walls and the ceiling with water," Seth said. "I think we should see if they have some decent respirator masks. Not sure those cloth things would protect us from everything."

"Maybe you're right," she replied thoughtfully. "Let's look around for something like that. Who knows what's in that muck?"

It took them a couple of minutes to find what they were looking for. The store did have a small selection of full face respirator masks. Bayley picked one up that had packaging showing a clear plastic front, and a black silicone face piece that covered the nose and mouth. There was a filter cartridge on the front of it. "Something like this?" she asked, showing it to Seth. "This thing is practically like a gas mask. Not danger of breathing in anything nasty with this."

"Yeah, and they have two of them. Perfect. Let's take them."

"They're not cheap," Bayley said as she loaded them into the cart. But in the grand scheme of things she knew it was best to buy good quality stuff when it came to renovation work, particularly work that could be hazardous. Her mind drifted to something else that they had recently started to enjoy together. "I think you can get scuba masks similar to those. Pretty sure I've seen them in nature documentaries on TV."

"You can. And you can fix those ones up with comms too, so you can talk to your dive partner while you're underwater. That would be pretty cool."

"It would," she said, her eyes lighting up as she thought about it. "We should try that next time we go on vacation somewhere."

Seth smiled. "That won't be for some time, now that we're both wrestling and we have Bean Again to work on."

"True," she admitted. "Right, anything else we need to buy?"

"Not that I can think of, but let's look around anyway."

They proceeded up the aisle and down the next one, with Seth pushing the cart and Bayley browsing the stock. None of the items on offer jumped out at them as essential for the job that lay ahead of them. Then Bayley came across something of interest.

"Oh, they have a gloves section."

"Especially for you," Seth quipped.

"Very funny. But we should actually get some for this job. It's going to be dirty work."

"We should. Pick some and get two pairs."

Bayley went straight for some black rubber gloves that were heavy duty household ones according to the packaging. "Don't think I've ever had these ones before," she commented as the took three packs and dropped them into the cart.

"That's three pairs," Seth commented.

"Yep. Two for work and one for pleasure," she replied innocently.

"I see. Well, if that's why we're shopping we should have a look what tapes they have too. They've got to have something good for shutting you up in here." He could tell how much just talking about it turned Bayley on. They were quite lucky that the store wasn't busy, with no one around to overhear them.

"It makes me so excited when you talk like that," she breathed.

"I know. Let's see what we can find."

It didn't take them long to find a section where many kinds of tape were on sale. Regular duct tape, electrical tape, packing tape, there were all kinds in stock.

"I think I should choose this time," Seth said.

"Okay. But not grey or black. We have plenty of those."

"Let's go for this one," he said, picking up a partially white, partially translucent roll. The packaging described it as filament tape. He didn't know what its intended purpose was, but he didn't much care. It would no doubt do well at the purpose he wanted it for.

"Yes, that one," Bayley said eagerly. "I'm not going to be able to concentrate on working this afternoon now."

Seth looked at her sternly. "Well you had better. You only get taped up if you do good work."

Bayley stepped up to him and gave him a kiss. "I'm wet right now, honey."

"I'm sure you are," he said softly, wishing he could put his hand down her pants and find out for himself.

"Hi, guys," a staff member said, walking by them with a trolley of stock that needed to stacked onto shelves. "Can I help you with anything?"

"No, thanks," Bayley said, rapidly blushing although he hadn't overheard her. "We're just going to check-out."

Trying to get his mind out of the gutter and onto the Bean Again renovation work, Seth turned their cart around and headed for the front of the store.

By the time they got back to the work site, Seth and Bayley had managed to get their minds focused on the work they needed to do. Cleaning the dirt and grime off of the ceiling, walls and floor of their new purchase was not going to be pleasant, but it needed to be done completely before any other work could begin. As it stood, the place was a health hazard.

Seth risked parking the van right outside for a few minutes, on the main road, while they unloaded their purchases into Bean Again. When that was done, he drove off to go and park it, leaving Bayley with the workmen who were finishing up installing the new doors. They had gotten their job done fast, in her estimation

"Looks like you're almost done?" she said to the man who was in charge of the team of workers. He was a burly guy with grey hair, probably in his early fifties.

"Yes, ma'am. Another half hour or so and we'll be out of your hair. If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing with this place?"

"Turning it into a coffee shop."

He raised his eyebrows. "That's a lot of work. But you've got the location for it for sure. Could be a big earner when it's up and running."

"Yeah. And it should be worth a lot too. We're not going to sell it, but we think we'll be in a profit situation once we've done the work."

"You got much experience with this kind of thing?"

Bayley nodded. "We've had our property development business for a few years now. We've done a few houses and a coffee shop, as well as our own house."

"Well, good for you," the man said genuinely. "I'd better help the guys finish up."

"Yeah," Bayley said with a smile. The talk of coffee had made her wish they had stopped for some on the way back from the hardware store, but it was a bit late now.

She had to stand around for a few minutes before Seth returned, having parked the van. There was no point in them starting to work when the workmen were so close to completing the doors, so they stood and talked until that happened.

After a demonstration to prove that the newly-installed doors opened and closed smoothly and locked securely, two sets of keys were handed over to Seth. He and Bayley shook hands with the work supervisor and Seth signed his paperwork to confirm that he was happy with what had been done. With that, the workmen gathered up their tools and left.

"Job number one done," Bayley said. "We have a secure site at least."

"We do," Seth smiled.

"Okay, so what now?"

He stepped up to her and gave her a peck on the cheek. "Now we get to work."

A/N: The first job of many is done. But how will the place look once they clean up the roof, walls and floor? Will it be something they can easily work with?
