Chapter Two
In a few hours, they reached the Mos Eisley Cantina, because of course, Spike and Jet couldn't go anywhere without having a celebratory drink.
Their booth in the back where they usually sat was taken by a man and a Wookie, and neither of them was stupid enough to deal with a Wookie. So they settled for a place at the bar. It was unusually crowded. Jet looked over at the two, and he was about to turn back to order a drink, when he took a good look at the man next to the Wookie. "Aw, hell. Spike, take a good look at the two who took our booth."
Spike looked over his shoulder, then turned back to Jet. "He never mentioned anything about a Wookie. The price just got higher."
"Yep." Jet said. He was about to go back to his drink when a brash looking young man bumped into him. Jet's drink spilled down his throat. "Hey," He yelled, "watch where you're doing!"
The Towheaded farm boy looked at him, and muttered some kind of apology, then scooted down to the other side of the bar where he could watch the old man he the boy had come in with. Jet shrugged. Youth these days, no respect whatsoever. Jet turned to his partner, and said, "So, do we take him now, or do we wait to make our moves?"
Spike didn't or him, or didn't care to hear him either. He had spotted a woman alone. He couldn't see her face-her back was to him-but anything had to be better than present company. Spike liked Jet and all, but sometimes, there was need of a pretty face. "Talk later Jet, I see a lady who needs some company. Take the bountyhead if you like, but I want to know why we weren't told about the Wookie first." He got up, and headed toward the woman in the corner of the bar.
Outside the bar, a very worried looking protocol droid stood next to a landspeeder, occasionally staring down at the astromech droid that was his companion. "Mistress Edward, do you think it's wise to be fiddling with Master Luke's landspeeder? As far as I'm concerned, it's running quite well for one of the older models."
"Lukey Luke's floaty car goes too slow, so Ed is going to make it go faster, isn't that right, Ein?" A young girl popped up from under the landspeeder. She bright orange hair stuck out at all angles, and she could pass for a boy if she wanted to, and more often than not she was mistaken for one. The mutt that followed her around wasn't much to look at, just your average welsh corgi At least, on Earth, it was an average dog.here in this galaxy, dogs were rare enough, and the corgis were some of the rarest.
The protocol droid-whose designation was C-3PO-could not figure the pair out, or how they had reached this place. He couldn't be sure where they came from, but threepio knew they were not from this galaxy. The talk and dress didn't match any information he had of over six million cultures.
The little astromech beeped at his taller companion. "What is it, Artoo?" The golden droid asked. Artoo Deetoo beeped some more, and acted as if in a panic. "Oh dear. Mistress Edward," he said, turning to the young girl, "It seems that Imperials have taken an interest in us. I suggest we go somewhere.less conspicuous to wait for Master Luke and Master Kenobi to return."
Edward wasn't sure what the Golden Man was talking about, but the Animate Trashcan was definitely wanting to hide away from the men in white. She nodded, and picked up her dog. Not for the first time did she wish that Spike-person and Jet-person were here. She wasn't even sure how she ended up here, only that Spike-person and Jet-person had left her and Faye- Faye behind, and when the girls went to find the boys.something happened, and Ed was waking up on the farm near Toche Station with no sign of Faye- Faye. At least she had Ein with her, otherwise she would be alone in this strange new universe.
As Spike approached the lonely woman, he checked his breath, and straightened his green hair. Then he tapped her on the shoulder, and said, "Excuse me, I couldn't help to notice that you were alone, lovely lady, and I thought you could use a bit of company."
"Sorry, Cowboy, but I've given up on men in the Sol System. I only date Imperial Officers. Are you an Imperial Officer, Spike Spiegel?" The woman turned around, and smiled up at the shocked Bounty Hunter.
Spike sputtered. The purple-haired woman had that arrogant look that she always had when she was right, or doing something stupid. "F-Faye?!" he stuttered. "How the hell did you end up in this God-Forsaken place?" He narrowed his eyes. "Are you here to steal my bounty?"
"Silly little Cowboy. I don't hunt for bounties anymore. I work for the Empire, now, and I'm here looking for some droids that.well, let's just say that they're important to the Empire."
Spike shook his head. "You're more than likely getting in over your head, Faye, and this time, Jet and I will not be there to bail you out." He walked away and back to Jet.
