I DO NOT OWN SPARTACUS: GODS OF THE ARENA. SHOUTOUT TO NIMLOTH OF THAY FOR ALWAYS LEAVING A REVIEW.
House Of Batiatus. A Few Days Later.
After his meeting with Quintus Lentulus Batiatus, Flavius completely threw himself into his gladiator training. He continued to spar with Ashur while Dagan wisely kept his distance. The Syrian was in no hurry to get his ass handed to him by the Roman in front of the entire Ludus; again. The days were hot and hard and they passed slowly. Flavius trained his heart out, but he was disheartened to hear no word from Batiatus about the search for his beloved sister. The waiting for news pained him like you would not believe. It was noticed by Ashur as they sparred under the hot sun of Capua.
"What troubles you, good Flavius?" Ashur asked as the Syrian struck a blow that the Roman rarely blocked.
"Almost a week has passed and I hear no word from Dominus." Flavius replied as Ashur lowered his sword.
"Surly the Dominus has other matters that occupy his thoughts besides your sister and the Legatus who sold her for a slave." the Syrian pointed out.
"I do not." the Roman pointed out in return. Despite his worry, Flavius continued to spar with Ashur until Doctore cracked his whip.
"Halt...eat and rest!" the man with the scar commanded as the men dropped their swords and shields and made their way to the tables were their daily gruel was being served. Before they could get their bowls however, Barca and Actus covered their portions of gruel in spit. The recruits sighed because they knew that the gladiators could do whatever they wished to the recruits and suffer no consequences.
"Jupiter's cock!" Indus gripped as the men threw their bowls on the floor and sat in their usual corner.
"How long must we suffer like this?" Crixus asked out loud.
"Once we pass the test and earn the mark of the brotherhood so that respect might finally be ours." Ashur insisted as Indus laid his head in his hands. As Flavius tried to ignore his stomach, he saw Diona coming to the bars once again. He slowly stood up and moved over to her.
"You have come again." Flavius said as Diona offered him a small smile.
"I had to see you." She replied as her tone turned serious. "I overheard the bargain you struck with Dominus."
"Yes a bargain was struck, but I fear it has been forgotten." the Roman replied. "Many days have past and no word from him has graced my ear."
"Nor shall it for many days more." the slave girl warned. "Dominus was set upon some days ago in the city and has been ordered by the medicus to remain at rest."
"Did a rival lanista do him injury?"
"Vettius certainly gave his blessing, but it was the Legatus whose hand struck our dominus." This caught Flavius off guard. Augurnus could never leave him alone, even in slavery.
"Septimus did this?" he asked enraged.
"He desired your blood to be spilled in the arena, Dominus deprived him of this and it has infuriated him beyond reason." she answered as he slammed his hand against the wall.
"Jupiter's cock, why does he delight in torturing me?" Flavius asked in fury. Diona reached out and touched his hand through the bars.
"Know that I and others stand with you, good Flavius." She assured him as he squeezed her hand.
"The sentiment is well received Diona." He said as he stepped away from the bars. Flavius stepped outside of the shade and looked up at the sky.
"Gods of Olympus," he prayed. "When the time comes for revenge...let my hand strike Septimus!"
NEXT TIME, WE WILL FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO GOOD BATIATUS DURING HIS MEETING WITH SEPTIMUS. REVIEWS NEEDED AND APPRECIATED.
