John Proudstar is just trying to fight "the good fight" at the expense of abandoning his Apache heritage until an old legend handed down by tribal leaders begins stalking him in the night. James Proudstar is on a mission to find his excommunicated brother and mend old wounds at the wishes of their dying mother while being stalked by a young Gyspy woman with ties to the X-Men.

"When Marcos agreed to leave the cartel and follow Lorna, he'd done so assuming he'd get shot at less. He was very, very wrong." When a mission goes awry, Marcos learns just what kind of damage Lorna Dane is really capable of. A pre-series fic set shortly after Marcos joins the mutant underground.

It's Halloween at the Mutant Underground HQ, and John, Lorna, and Marcos are trying to make the best of it for the kids.

"Life had never afforded her any special considerations, no free passes or basic human decency need apply. She had learned, over time, that you had two choices to pick from on any given day. On bad days you managed to survive, and it was on the rare good days you might actually get a chance to live." Lorna and Marcos talk, amongst other things, after she returns home.

The Struckers thought that they would be okay if they could just get their father back. They didn't realize that by saving him, they would be putting their lives in even more danger. They're exposed, and now there is no going back...

"The mutant underground was all John and Lorna had, the only family they had, and now they were risking all of it to save the life of one of their own. They had to try, because if they didn't, all of the lives of the people they cared for would be at stake." John and Lorna look for help in an unlikely place.
