Chapter Three
The Mission
Part Two
Agent Brown had gotten Trowa to the control room with ease. All the people Trowa had come across were already subdued. Trowa had even questioned Heero and Roberts about it. Both had confirmed they had yet to come across someone who wasn't already unconscious. There weren't many people in the building itself, based on the number count all three had been keeping track of.
Once he neared the control room, Trowa noticed the two people lying on the floor just outside of the door. Peering into the room, he noticed some of the files were open already on the computers around the room. Approaching one of the computers, it appeared that someone was trying to do the same thing as he was there to do. They had already broken into the system and stolen whatever data was there. Trowa wasn't going to question it any more than he already was. He needed to collect the same data and with the computer system already unlocked, it made his job easier.
Slipping his hand into his Preventer black combat jacket he withdrew a flash drive. As he was about to put the stick into the computer's USB port a rumble sounded from somewhere in the building. Freezing his movements he listened again to see if another one would happen. Not even a moment later another rumble sounded but this one sounded closer. It didn't take long before a third one sounded and Heero's voice came over the commlink.
"Get out now! They're starting to detonate the remaining explosives!"
Trowa knew he didn't have time to gather the information, but they needed it. He quickly inserted the flash drive into the computer and started to download as much information as he could. Even if he had to stop short, something was better than nothing. More blasts could be heard throughout the building. He knew he was running out of time but there was only thirty percent left to download. Another blast sounded closer to the control room just as the computer read a hundred percent.
Taking the stick out and shoving it back into his pocket he made his exit. He couldn't grab the two people on his way out, he bowed his head as he left. It was wrong to leave others behind, but he needed to get out and get out alive.
Trowa turned to his left, the original way he had come in, and saw that it was being blocked by fallen debris. He had no choice but to turn and head right. Praying he'd find a way out. He ran to the end of the corridor making a left turn. He stopped when he noticed two more guards but this time they had bullet wounds to the chest and head. He turned his head back and noticed blood on the white tile floor. Deciding to follow the trail of blood, he wondered if it would lead to either an exit or the possible shooter. It might have been the same person who had been in the control room before him.
Heero had been running through the building looking for anyone who wasn't already unconscious. So far he had only come into contact with eight people. None of them were awake. But as the situation was turning worse with every minute that ticked by, Heero had no choice but to leave the men where they lay. They hadn't been in the building long before the first explosion occurred. It seemed like the blasts were coming from random locations. Heero had only made it as far as the lower levels of the building, which mainly housed offices and storage rooms. He had almost made it to the basement, or what he assumed was the basement when a blast sounded from behind the steel door.
Heero didn't think twice as he turned on his heel making his way back from where he had come from. He knew he had gotten enough of the other explosives to hopefully secure a route out of the building. As he continued to run he heard more rumbling throughout the building. Heero had quickly radioed everyone to get out. One thing that concerned him the most was the fact that the channel they were using had been silent.
Trowa continued moving swiftly through the halls. Following the trail of blood on the floor. When he came to a connecting hallway he turned left, stopping dead in his tracks. A piece of the ceiling had fallen. As he surveyed the area his eyes landed on a figure lying prone on the floor. The only difference between them and the others he had seen, was that the person wasn't wearing the same military green uniform that he had seen the other wearing. The person was dressed all in black, with their face covered by the hood of their sweatshirt.
Slowly he approached, almost as if he was drawn to the person. He lowered himself to his knees and began to push the piece of the ceiling off the mysterious person. He wasn't even sure if they were still alive, but something was telling him to check. After moving the piece of fallen debris he released something about the person lying on the ground. The body was small. If they were male he was on the shorter side. But for a female, the body would suit that of a woman better than of a man. Trowa reached out a hand and slowly slid the hood from the person's face.
Duo and Wufei had been running around the outside of the building trying to find anyone who was trying to escape. They had thought they heard something from inside the building but it wasn't until Heero had radioed for everyone to get out that their suspicions were confirmed. With the help of Sally's team, they were able to split up again. Searching for anyone who might be leaving in a hurry.
"Where the hell are they!?" Duo yelled.
"Keep your eyes sharp, Maxwell," Wufei said from a few feet away.
"I am! But where the hell are Barton, Roberts, and Yuy?"
"They'll make it out. Just keep your eyes out for someone other than them." Duo was about to say something when Wufei started heading closer to the building. "Like him," Wufei said as he took off to apprehend a guy who was running towards them.
"Yeah like him," Duo said as he followed behind.
The first thing Trowa noticed were the soft features, high cheekbones, and jawline. Not a single scare on their perfect skin. Something about the face was familiar but he couldn't put his finger on it. As his eyes traveled up the face he noticed the person's hair. Long chocolate brown hair was pulled into a ponytail. Tumbling out of the hood and onto the floor. It was a female without a doubt. Trowa's breath caught in his throat as he fully took her in. She was beautiful.
Why would someone like her be in a place like this? He wondered as he leaned forward to check and see if she was still alive. Right as his fingers grazed her neck, her eyes snapped open.
Trowa's eyes went wide as she quickly sat up, pushing herself away from him. He saw her arm move as she held a gun up in front of her. He didn't know she had one. He had been too consumed in finding out if she was alive that he didn't bother to check to see if she was armed.
Trowa willed himself to meet her eyes again. To confirm what he had seen. Those eyes... they're just like… Trowa slowly lifted his eyes. Prussian blue met his emerald green as their eyes locked in a firm gaze. His breath left him once again.
Dark brown hair, dark blue eyes, facial features that were so familiar. It was unmistakable she looked just like... her eyes narrowed at him. A flash of something passed through them before he saw the gun waver in her hand.
"You…" was all she said as she fell unconscious again. The gun tumbled from her hand.
Another blast sounded from somewhere in the building. Shaking his head, Trowa tried to clear his mind. Looking at the girl again he made a decision. Moving quickly to scoop her up into his arms, he tapped his earpiece as he started heading down the hallway. They needed to get the hell out and out fast.

And now we have three! I will eventually write some more A/N notes, but for now... let's continue.
