Chapter 6

Let's Go! Towards Adventure!

"Ash it's time for bed. You need to get up early tomorrow for your starter and Pokédex." Delia said, walking in on Ash and Pikachu watching through some of her old recordings when she was still a battler.

She wondered for a moment what her team was up to know. Did they have children of their own? She pushed the thought aside for now. Coming back to reality she barely caught the apology from Ash and what she understood was an apology from Pikachu.

She was at first surprised to find out that Pikachu was the Pichu Ash kept talking about when he came home after the summer camp. She wondered if it was fate that led the two to each other again.

She, again pushed the thought aside for now.

"Goodnight Pikachu." Ash said as he climbed on the ladder that led up to his bed.

"Goodnight Ash." Pikachu replied, patting a soft pillow on the shelf.

The two then drifted off to sleep.

Ash groggily stood up, he was no longer in his room, instead he was In some blue and glowing platform that seemed to be floating in the void.

He looked around a bit, realizing he was a Mew in the process of looking.

'This has got to be dream.' He thought to himself.

'It technically is.' Ash flinched back and looked around trying to find the source of the reply, to no avail.

Ash then found the source standing right in front of him.

'Hello, Ash Ketchum. I am what humans call Arceus. You may call me as such.'

"Uhm, hello Arceus." Ash said quietly. "I'm sorry! It's just I wasn't really expecting to see much less talk to you."

'Well, I have come with a purpose.'

"And what would that be?"

Arceus bowed, Ash wasn't expecting that.

'I would like to formally apologize for the situation you find yourself in. I was angry, angry at someone who didn't even do anything wrong and because of that I let someone as innocent as you undergo such a traumatic experience, I can never forgive myself for such cruelty.' Arceus said, still bowing.

"Wait, wait, wait! You don't have to apologize, it wasn't your fault, okay? And plus there's so many positives to this. I can understand Pokémon now, I can actually use moves, and I got to meet an old friend." Ash floated forward. "It's alright we all make mistakes sometimes." Ash tried to reassure Arceus that it wasn't their fault, even though the creator of all wasn't having any of it.

'It was a mistake that could have robbed you of everything you have ever known and loved! That is not something to just sweep aside like it is nothing!' Arceus sighed. 'How about this, the Eevee that is currently in the care of Samuel Oak is special, a personal creation of mine I asked Dialga to plant for you.'

"You don't have to do that. Like I said you don't have to apologize, everything worked out in the end so it's fine."

'It is not fine, I allowed this event to take place so atleast let me fix it.'

"Okay, okay, fine. I get it. Just don't beat yourself up for it, it's fine." Ash tapped Arceus in the hoof

'I thank you for understanding.' Arceus closed their eyes and moved their head back up to position.

'Oh, and you should wake up soon. It is now morning.' Arceus said before the entire space was engulfed in light.

'Ash, wake up. We still need to get our starters. Please!'

"Hmm?" Ash said his eyes fluttering to fix his blurry vision. He then realized what day it is today.

Ash rubbed his eyes clear and checked his alarm clock.

'Oh thank Arceus. I'm not late.' He thought to himself.

'You will be if you don't get ready soon.' Ash heard Mewtwo's voice. He ran out of his room going straight to the bathroom.

Once he was done with the shower, he ate a quick breakfast and changed clothes.

Once ready the two made their way to Oak's Lab.

"So where's Pikachu Anyway?"

'He had something to take care of first'

Once the two were at the door to the lab they knocked, waiting for an answer.

The door opened a few seconds later, Gary was the one who opened it.

"Ash, you're here. Well here are your starting supplies, and also can you give me your trainer card." Oak said as the two of them came in.

Ash did as instructed.

Oak scanned it and typed a few things on his computer, Ash couldn't really get a good look.

Oak then gave back his trainer card after putting in some kind of card reader.

"Well then, let's go meet your starters." Oak said as he walked upstairs.

Ash, Gary, Oak, and Mewtwo made their way into a room with 4 Poké Balls behind glass.

Oak pressed a button in his pocket and the glass case opened. Each Poké Ball had a different marking on the top half of the device. 3 of them had a fire, water, and grass symbol. While the final one had a white circle inside of a gray circle.

'This one is definitely Eevee's.' Ash thought to himself.

"Well then, go on. choose the one you want."

Ash went for the normal type and Mewtwo went for the fire type, And Gary picked the water type.

"Surprised, I said way back on the first day of summer camp that I wanted a Squirtle. That still hasn't changed."

"Oh how ignorant of me, I forgot." Ash said, clearly faking. "But enough of that, let's battle!"

"Oh you are on."

"Kids these days." Oak said to himself.

'I'm going to go and watch with Charmander.'

"Okay Mewtwo, maybe you could even learn a thing or two." Oak said placing the remaining Poké Ball back in the case.

"Those two may be a bit hyperactive, but when it comes to battles they're just some switch that turns on in their brains."

'Human brains have switches?'

"It's a figure of speech, Mewtwo" Mewtwo made an 'Oh' face.

When Mewtwo made it outside, he was surprised. The Aura the two emitted was that of pure focus. Nothing was going to interrupt this match.

"They were like even in the summer camp, they dominated the competitions that involved Pokémon knowledge and battling." Mewtwo looked at the source of the voice, finding out that the Professor was eagerly waiting for the battle to begin.

Both Ash and Gary checked their Pokédex's for info on their starter's current move set and abilities, once that was over they readied their Poké Balls.

Ash and Gary then threw their Poké Balls in unison.

Squirtle looked a very bold.

Eevee looked very calm and determined.

"Let's do this, Eevee! Start with sand attack!" Eevee ran up to her opponent reading her forepaw for the attack.

"Not a chance! Squirtle, aqua jet!" Ash's eyes widened, squirtle was enveloped in water.

"Eevee! Dodge and use double kick!" Eevee dodged at the last second.

"Dodge, Quick!" Gary ordered, to no avail. Squirtle was hit by double kick, knocking the small turtle across the battlefield.

"Tail whip, then Covet. We're almost there."

Eevee's tail glowed white and she swatted Squirtle with it disorienting the turtle even more, but the little turtle wasn't giving up, he used withdraw and water gun in a combo, knocking Eevee away from him.

Both Pokémon were panting heavily, clearly exhausted. Their trainers even knew that.

With a sigh Ash and Gary declared the match a draw.

'Well that was something.'

"Their strategies are already so advanced for their age, they will make fine trainers in the near future." Oak looked at Mewtwo. "Think you can catch up."

'I'll do my best.'

Once Oak checked them over and gave to okay, Gary said his goodbyes to his gramps and to Ash. He still had a flight to catch.

Ash meanwhile was talking with Eevee.

"Hey that was amazing battling over there. It's a bit of a bummer we didn't win, but it was a chance to get to know you. And your battling style."

"Thanks I guess."

'Ash could you help me with Charmander's Pokémon food, I'm not sure which one's right.' Eevee was startled by the telepathic message.

"Alright Mewtwo, I'll be right there. Wait here okay, I'll be quick." Ash said walking to the other room in the lab.

"Mewtwo? Who's that supposed to be?" Eevee asked herself.

True to Ash's word he came back, though this time he had a Pikachu on his shoulder. Eevee wondered who he was.

"Well, Pikachu. Here she is, our new team Member. Ee- wait actually I forgot to ask. Do you have a name?" Pikachu slapped Ash in the back of the head for being forgetful.

"Sorry for him, he's sometimes a bit of an airhead, but he's one heck of a battler."

"I... noticed... anyway I'm Elaine. How about you."

"just Pikachu, I never had a name and never needed one."

"And I'm Ash Ketchum, nice to meet you Elaine."

Elaine blinked, did she hear wrong.

"Sorry, what?"

Pikachu laughed at her reaction, It was priceless. Ash also joined in the laughter.

"Hey!" Eevee said, regaining the attention of Ash and Pikachu.

"Sorry it's just your face. It's to funny."

"I second that."

After a few moments the laughter calmed down and Ash and Pikachu were finally able to explain things to Elaine.

"Alright so this is the gist of it. My trainer is a Mew and if you're going to ask, yes, the Professor knows."

Ash transformed into his Mew form just to prove Pikachu's point.

"I-I just... I just can't believe it." Elaine said, still in utter shock.

"I know it's weird but, it's just how things are at the moment." Ash said still in his Mew form. "But," Ash smiled softly. "Welcome to the team, Elaine."

Elaine also smiled, it was strange of course, but she had a feeling joining up with Ash will bring lots of exciting adventures into her life, and she was all for adventure.
