More Than Meets The Eye: A Harry Potter/Transformers Crossover Fanfiction

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or any of its associated characters: all rights belong to JK Rowling. I do not own Transformers or any of their associated characters: all rights belong to Hasbro and Michael Bay. I do not own any other crossover references used in the story: all rights belong to their original creators. I do own any OC spells explained at the end of a chapter.

Plot: First, there was a freak lightning strike. Then, a child unlike any other. Finally, a Saviour who seemed to be normal, but behind his emerald-green eyes, there lies a power beyond any human understanding. A power that is more than meets the eye.

Author's Note: So, as you might be able to guess from the title and disclaimer, this story is mostly set in a SERIOUS AU of the Bayverse, but without a HELL of a lot of things that, quite frankly, let down the whole franchise – and that not just the all-screaming Shia Le-Poof as the hero: I mean, really, Mike? You couldn't have done a better job and picked someone better-suited?

Anyway, enjoy if you can and if you can't…

Well, you know the rest.

Prologue: Bolt Out of the Blue

It started with a lightning strike.

And, even for a world where almost anything was made possible, where people could turn into animals, metal could be made from rubber and there were potions that could do in seconds what Muggle sciences took weeks, even months to undo, it was admitted by those who witnessed it.

This particular lightning strike was a really freaky lightning strike.

For Lily and James Potter, life was a pretty simple affair.

After graduating at the top of their class at Hogwarts, both with their respective masteries as part of their next step, Lily and James took the time to get closer until, as all humans did – or those lucky enough, anyway – they wound up getting engaged, then married and, as nature intended, they even ended up trying for a child.

However, there was one thing that stopped them.

The War!

The seemingly-endless battle between the forces of Good – primarily represented by the Order of the Phoenix – and the forces of Evil – primarily represented by the Death Eaters and their sadistic master, Lord Voldemort – for absolute supremacy over the Magical World.

On three separate occasions, Lily and James, both of whom had felt like they were strong-armed into joining the War instead of settling down, had managed to overcome adversity and survive encounters with the Big Bad, Lord Voldemort himself. After the third encounter, during which Lily found herself wondering if this was all there was, the two decided to try and snatch some feeling of normality from the jaws of unconditional struggle.

This was where the bolt came into it.

"Look at it, Jay…the moon…the stars…"

"The blood?"

"Thanks," drawled Lily, reapplying another layer of salve to her arm, where a cursed wound had recently reopened; as she wrapped another Healer's bandage around her arm, Lily looked up as James smiled at her, earning a scoff from the redhead. "Don't think you're going to get lucky just because you've ruined the mood of what is supposed to be our wedding anniversary."

"Ah…" said James, earning a scoff from Lily as she recognised a look on his face as one that wives all over the world knew, especially when James groaned as he added, "Right…yeah…of course, our…our anniversary…um…Lils…baby…"

"Good thing I'm not an impatient sort," laughed Lily, leaning back on her makeshift bed as she added, "Tell you what: if you let me enjoy this calm beach at night scene and quietly slip away, I might just be able to pretend to be surprised and happy, instead of PO'd that you forgot…again!"

Her reward was a kiss from her husband, followed by an almost-silent pop.

As Lily scoffed again, she reached back over her head, using her good arm to prop herself up while she looked down at her bandaged arm, silently cursing herself for lowering her guard this time.

Had it not been for James' quick reflexes, and the emergency Portkey, she might not have survived this time.

And that?

That would be terrible.

As Lily let her bandaged arm rest across her trim stomach, she looked up to the skies; as she did so, however, Lily's eyes narrowed when she noticed how, all of a sudden, the peaceful night sky and the starlight scene seemed to have vanished. In its place was what could only be described as the weirdest clouds that Lily had ever seen.

Thick, dark clouds, which weren't all that weird, but, what did make them weird was the fact that these particular clouds seemed to be shimmering with different shades of bluish-coloured light, sort of like a one-colour spectacle of the Northern Lights.

"What in Magic…"

As Lily went to lift herself up, however, her eyes widened, her heart stopped and her whole body tensed up.

And all thanks to a single bolt of bluish-silvery lightning that seemed to seek her out, judging by how it slammed straight into her, sending Lily's body into a whirlwind of frenzied emotions, fear, pain, surprise, disbelief and amazement.

Then, all she knew went black…

Eye

"Lily? Lily! LILY: OH MY GODS, LILY!"

"J…James?" asked Lily, opening her eyes; when she saw her husband crouched over her, his wand drawn in readiness, Lily scoffed and pushed it away as she added, "Don't look so dour, Jay-Jay…I…I'm fine…"

"Thank Merlin!"

"Yeah," said Lily, before she smiled coyly as she added, "Hey, guess what?"

James gave her a look.

"I've changed my mind…"

James barely had a moment to speak before his brain went south, as did his blood, as his wife embraced him, the two of them sharing their love and passion there and then on the beach.

9 Months Later

"Congratulations, Lady Potter: it's a boy!"

"You did it, Lils," said James, smiling proudly as he watched his wife proceed to nurse their newborn son, while James kissed Lily's forehead and, with his free hand, he reached out and gently caressed the suckling infant with a single finger.

"Welcome to the world…Harry James Potter…"

13 Years Later

"YOU BRING HER BACK! YOU BRING HER BACK NOW AND YOU PUT HER RIGHT!"

"No!" insisted thirteen-year-old Harry James Potter, his green eyes – which many had always said were so much like his Mother's – shining with fire and fury, even as Uncle Vernon went to tackle him.

Though not before Harry reminded him why he was always going to be better than the fat man, namely thanks to the piece of wood he shoved in Vernon's face as he growled, "Oh no, you don't: you keep away from me!"

"Ha! You're not allowed to do magic outside of school…"

"Yeah? Try me," insisted Harry, earning a sneer from Vernon.

"They'll never let you back now…you've nowhere to go…"

"Want to bet?"

As Vernon stared in disbelief, Harry marched out of the house, making sure to accidentally slam the door hard – so hard, in fact, it caused the windows at the front of the house to smash loudly, attracting the wrong sort of attention to the Dursleys – before he walked away from Number Four, snarling under his breath while, at the edge of his hearing, the sound of Large Marge's shrieks put a smile on his face.

That and the fact that, now he was thirteen, he didn't have to go back to Durzkaban ever again.

Not thanks to a promise.

Turning off Privet Drive, Harry headed for the nearby playground where, as he walked past the car park close by the underpass, a smile touched his lips when, at the edge of his hearing, he heard a low, odd-sounding rumble, followed by the idling sound of a motor.

"Right on time again," smiled Harry, setting his trunk down in an empty spot in the car park, before he turned.

Just in time to see a strange, but comfortable-looking camper van, decked out in shades of red, blue and silver pull up alongside him, the design so memorable because it could have resembled flames along the side of the cab and the living space on the back. On the front of the cab's engine, a humanoid-like face was mounted where the van's maker insignia would be placed while, below it, the cab had a licence plate set in a series of unusual-looking symbols, which, in the past, Harry remembered, had always made people think the owner eccentric and weird.

'If only they knew,' thought Harry, watching as the camper revved up again before, nodding once, Harry smiled as the door opened, allowing him to climb into the living space at the back of the van.

"Nice to see you too…Dad…"

Wow, talk about a WEIRD beginning: so, a freak lightning strike, the child they wanted so much and, now, 13 years on, an unusual, but oddly-familiar event leads to a meeting with an oddly-familiar-coloured vehicle: mmm…I think this Harry is definitely more than meets the eye, don't you?

Even so, why in the name of sanity is he calling a fancy-looking camper van his Dad?
