After their "Mission of Gold", many people besides Amanda are affected by their reactions to her near death. Note: I have rated this story as "M", not for my usual reasons, but because of a certain humorous storyline that may *possibly* offend.

I found this on my hard drive and thought I'd post it here. This is an answer to a challenge on a now defunct Yahoo group. It was written around this time in 2005. The challenge was to interpret the statement: "The most painful way to miss someone is to see them everyday, knowing you can't have them."

Sundance AU series #3. Despite the title, a K-rated story! A response to the FB Fanfic challenge for a Valentine's story. We know someone started at the Agency in 1983 - how did they end up there? A prequel story set in my Sundance AU, although reading others in the series is not a requirement.

Response to the following challenge: Write a story which contains this dialogue: "I said we're safer, not safe." Word limit 1000 or less. Set late season 4 during mystery marriage while Lee and Amanda try to find some much-needed "alone time." M-rated for a reason.
