Kyo was supposed to be imprisoned for good after graduation. Tohru was supposed to accept this and move on with life. She wasn't supposed to confront Akito about it. She wasn't supposed to lose all her memories and be banished from the Sohma's for good. And Kyo, seeing what they did to her, definitely wasn't supposed to bring her back into his own life.
