Sins of the Father: Notes from the author
*This is a first draft and I really need to do a second, with more exposition.
*William Adama says, "Father, how could you let so many die?" In this case, the "father" he is referring to is not his parent, but rather God.
*William is an atheist on the outside, but a troubled soul on the inside who is desperate for a sign that God does exist.
*William Adama's father was a historian and collector of antiquities.
*Adama's family tree, "The House of Adam", is meant to be a reference to Adam (of Adam & Eve). The inference here is that Adama's ancestors were the first to colonize Earth and actually members of the 13th tribe.
*Adama believes himself to be a sinner of the worst kind. He makes major decisions without pause and leads others to believe in him at any cost. He believes he is responsible for the deaths of Illya and Zac and someday the 50,000 survivors. Those are his sins and he does not know what guides his soul to make these decisions.
*The Earth coordinates on his fathers' scrap paper are from the Classic show's episode, "War of the Gods." Adama doesn't really believe they're real. His decision to follow them is more of a ---"Oh, what the heck."
