This is based on the crippling tragic love story of both Xia and Eltrio. One with no happy ending.

The way Dragon Quest VIII would have been if Eight had been raised by Chen Mui in the Dragovian Sanctuary. When Dhoulmagus steals the scepter and casts the curse on Trodain, Eight and Chen Mui (as Munchie) is sent down to help protect the world from the Darkness is bound to come. Eris was always different from any other Celestrian, the only things keeping her from being practically a mortal being her wings, halo, and powers. She's smaller than them, the size of a adolescent mortal. She has a bit more emotion than the others, but not much. For all these things, she was surprised she's even a guardian. But now she doubts if she was even meant to be one.

Tammy has always been able to see things no mortal should be able to, like ghosts and faeries and even Celestrians. But on the night of a terrifying earthquake, the sight of a dark light and golden comets lets her know that something big is coming. And she knows she's going to be in it deep.

Marcello has a lovely Dragon Cane. He calls it a "stick", but it does the same thing. These kinds of canes are the worst kind and actually CAN cause signifigant damage if used too much on someone. Angelo is mentioned quite a bit.

Prince Kendrick is a jerk, but one wonders if he realises that his attitude is an exasperating source of any loneliness he might feel. I guess it's Kendrick/ Hero's Daughter but it's not really prominent. More a character study of Kendrick and an allegory for a different couple in-game. Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride universe and timeline, set post-game.
