Set after series finale. Spoilers. T for language. Caliban rescues a strange, injured girl, Emily(from AU), who washes up on the bank of the Thames. They talk and befriend each other, with Caliban even getting a glimpse of what his fate could have once been. Later, Caliban must face an enemy he thought dead. Emily must decide if one friendship could ever be worth more than another.

A short rewrite of the scene in the final episode of Penny Dreadful where Marjorie tells John/Caliban to come back with their son alive or not at all. It really rubbed me the wrong way and seemed out of character for a woman who was so happy to be reunited with her husband to tell him to get lost. If someone in this show deserved a happy ending it was Caliban, dammit.

My attempt at an alternate ending to Ep. 3x09, in which Ethan does pull the trigger, but not how Vanessa thought he would. He swore she would not die while he lived and he is not willing to give up on that promise. And the woman he loves. (Ethan/Vanessa, rated T for mild cursing, descriptions of pain, just to be sure. As Vanessa's true plan to defeat Dracula is revealed, she and her friends find themselves on an epic quest that involves the living and dead alike.

Starts at 3x09. Because we all deserved better, but especially Miss Ives and Mr. Chandler. Original story arch complete. I will probably post more chapters but not in a chronological order.
