After Kaoru has found out that her sweet and gentle fiancé is an assassin, the Hitokiri Battousai, she decides to cut him out of her life. However, Kenshin won't allow that to happen, and will go to any lengths to insure she is his. In fact, he decides to create a mini game for both of their benefit.

It is autumn, as Kenshin makes his way towards Kyoto to fight Shishio. In a forest filled with red leaves, he can't help but immerse himself in the surroundings and think about what he left behind.

Yahiko and Kenji are the only reason she doesn't give up. After spying Kaoru visiting Tomoe's grave, Enishi follows her home and decides to stick around to help with some home improvements.
