I stepped back, coughing up the foul smoke. The dark room of my basement was full of the red clouds, which seemed to emit from the pentagram that was in the center of the room. The pentagram was glowing the same color of blood, and had five candles at each point, with the offering of blood resting just outside of the middle. The bowl of blood was my own, and it had come from my own forearm. That weird book I had read said human blood worked best.
I couldn't really see the center of the pentagram, where the lines of the star came together and formed a pentagon, but I could make out a figure lurking inside. It seemed the demon I had summoned was waiting for me to approach, and make a deal. Swallowing down the lump of fear in my throat, I stood up tall and marched over.
A low chuckle came from the figure in the fog, it's teeth flashing like the light of a radio. Whatever this thing was, it sounded like one of those voices you her on a radio, static surrounding the sounds that came forth from it's throat. Through the darkness of the fog and the basement, I swear I could almost make out radio dials hovering above the flashing yellow teeth. I realized that I was about to step over the edge of the pentagram, and stopped dead in my tracks. As long as the demon was in there, and I was out here, I was safe.
The demon laughed and raised it's hands, almost invitingly. Suddenly, all of the fog seemed to get sucked into the demon, like it was a strange vacuum. I watched in wonder as the fog disappeared, and the light from the candles grew significantly. I finally got my first good look at the demon I summoned, and it was...a deer?
"Hello my charming fellow! My name is Alastor, and what shall I call you?" I was to dumbfounded to answer. The strange deer demon was pretty tall, and had tuffs of red hair protruding from his head, like the ears of a deer. His ears were also tipped black, like the ends of his chin length hair. Alastor wore a suit that was a deep crimson, and that ended around his thighs. The deer demon also wore dark dress paint trimmed with light red, and shoes that looked like cloven hooves. A monocle rested on his right eye.
He also had an air to him that radiated confidence and power. A smile took up a large portion of his face, and he seemed have all the time in the world. Had this guy not been looking at me like I was going to be his next meal, he would have looked kind of hot.
"I believe I asked you a question?" Alastor didn't speak in an annoyed tone, more of one of amusement.
"A-Anthony!" I quickly responded.
"Anthony? I don't believe I've ever been summoned by an Anthony before." Alastor seemed to be talking more to himself then to me.
"Are you the radio demon?" I could hear my voice shaking as I asked, of course he was. I tugged at my sandy blonde hair, feeling like an idiot.
"Why yes! Now dear Anthony, maybe you can let me out of this pentagram? It would be nice if we could chat somewhere less...dismal." For a minute, I actually reached out to smug the outer line of the symbol he stood in, which would break the spell and set him free. Something about the way he spoke made me want to let him go, even though I knew all hell would rain down on my ass. Fortunately, I came to my senses and stood back up before I could make that fatal mistake. I crossed my arms, almost hurt that the demon I summoned was trying to get away before we could do business.
"Nice try, but you ain't trickin' me that easily." I let out a defiant huff and and stared him down, ignoring the fear welling in my gut.
"Well, well, well, it appears I've been summoned by one of the smarter humans." Alastor smiled at me gleefully, showing that he was appreciative that I wasn't a total idiot, "Now Anthony, what is it you have summoned me for?" He swooped down and picked up the bowl which held my blood, slowly tipping it up to his mouth as he stared at me.
I felt something hard and cold drop into my stomach. How could I be choking now? I had done all of this planning without a single thought, now that what I had been planning for was happening, I was having second thoughts. No way, I didn't do all this crap for nothing!
"I want you to kill my dad." When the words came out, I felt nothing but hatred for that man.
"Well now," Alastor's eyes brightened like a kid on Christmas at the purpose behind his summoning, "this is going to be very entertaining, very entertaining indeed."
