Alice POV
The sound of a grandfather clock can be heard as a key swings from left to right.
The grandfather clock slowly fades as the sounds of pocket watches take over.
?: Come now Alice, It's only a dream.
Alice: It's not a dream, it's… a memory and It makes me sick!
I now find myself having tea with the Hatter as a mechanical tea robot gives me a serving.
The Hatter pulls a lever and now fish are swimming in the air as cards fall.
?: Now, focus. Wait… You're floating again. Weightless… a cipher…relax.
Suddenly I'm on the battlefield of the Red and White armies.
Alice: Fire! I'm in Hell!
Everything around me crumbles as the Queen of Hearts sits on her throne.
?: Forget it! Abandon that memory. It's unproductive. Go… to Wonderland.
Alice: I can't. I'm trapped… in my past.
Now I'm laying on the snow covered ground as people begin to swarm me.
?: Sergeant, this girl is badly burnt. Call for a doctor!
?: Will she be alright?
I now see my family waving at me as they are consumed by the flaming face of the Jabberwock.
?: No, Alice! Discard that Delusion. Forget it. Go to Wonderland.
Alice: I'd rather not, Doctor. My Wonderland's shattered. It's dead to me.
?: Your preference doesn't signify, girl. Now, Alice, where are you?
Alice: I'm sailing. With a friend! Hmmmm. It's different somehow. Things have changed.
It feels great to see Rabbit again but something's not right.
?: Change is good. It's the first link in the chain of forgetting.
Rabbit's starts twitching as his eyeball bulges.
Alice: What's happening? Are you mad?
?: I'm not mad.
Alice: Rabbit?
?: That's not right. What he's doing there?
Alice: Is something wrong?
Rabbit: Something wrong? Raaaather…
Suddenly his head flew from his body and started gushing out blood like a fountain.
Alice: Oh no, not that!
The blood turns black as the river becomes a sea fo black goo and porcelain doll parts.
?: Don't struggle, Alice. Let the new Wonderland emerge.
Alice: Pollution! Corruption! It's killing me. Wonderland is destroyed! My mind is in ruins!
?: Forget it, Alice. Block that dream! Wake at the sound.
The porcelain arms start grabbing at my face as I slowly submerge into the black goo.
Alice: Someone please help me! Save me! Please! Izuku!
Narrator POV
Izuku quickly shuts his eyes open as he takes deep breaths.
Izuku: [Heavily Breathing] … Alice.
My Hero In Madness
Bumby: There, Alice. Better now, aren't we?
Opening her eyes, Alice finds herself in the study of her caretaker, Argus Bumby.
Alice: My head's exploded and there's a steam hammer in my chest.
Bumby: Yes, well, the cost of forgetting is high.
Alice: My memories make me vomit. What can I…
Bumby: Remember other things.
Alice: I want to forget! Who would choose to be alone, imprisoned by their broken memories?
Bumby: I'll set you free, Alice. Memory is a curse, often a blessing.
Alice: You say that but not all memories can be curses.
Bumby furrowed his brows as Alice slowly smiled.
Bumby: You're thinking of that Izuku boy.
Alice: Yes, Doctor Bumby. It's just…
Bumby: A distraction from forgetting those memories. Alice the past must be paid for. All of the past.
Alice: Yes Doctor.
Bumby: Now, before our next session, collect those pills from our High Street chemist.
Alice: Very well, Doctor.
Alice then gets up and leaves the room as Bumby's next patient comes in.
Alice: As much as I want to forget that fire. I don't want to forget Izuku. I just hope he is doing well and that he achieved his dream.
Scene Change
Turning on the bathroom sink, Izuku splashes some water on his face. Stimulating his nerves so that he is more awake.
Izuku returns to his room full of All-Might merchandise. Turning on his laptop, he searches for Alice Liddell with the most recent news about her being her departure from Rutledge Asylum after surviving a house fire that took the lives of her parents and elder sister..
Aside from that no other information about her whereabouts have been made public.
He can still remember when he first met her.
Flashback - Years ago
Alice: So you're the lad staying with us for the week.
Looking up from his notebook Izuku sees a brown haired girl in a blue dress.
Alice: My name is Alice Liddel. Apologies for not greeting you when you arrived.
Izuku: It's o-okay,My name is Izuku Midoryia!
Alice: [giggle] That's a cute stutter you have
Izuku: U-u-h thank you!
Flashback Ends
It was a surprise to learn that she had a quirk that she kept secret from everybody. A quirk that allows the user to send their consciousness and the consciousness of others to another world.
Since then Alice became a positive influence to Izuku when his dream seemed to have shattered.
But after the fire they've lost contact and now he feels like Alice is calling out to him. Like she was in danger.
Scene Change
Walking down a foggy ally while following a white cat. Alice sees that behind her is a man with the head of the Jabberwock!
Alice: [Gasps]
She backs away only to find another Jabberwock figure behind her! Soon she is surrounded by men with Jabberwock heads.
Alice is terrified by the situation and a hand grabs her shoulder. Turning around she sees an old woman.
?: My stars and garters, Alice Liddell! Slumming again are we?
Seeing that the Jabberwock figures had disappeared, Alice engages the old woman.
Alice: Nurse Witless! What Luck. Twice in as many months.
Witless: Out on your own? You look frazzled, Dearie. Not doing well?
Alice: Not really.
Witless: Come along home, then, and look at my pigeons. Pretty birds… Like you.
Alice: I don't think so. Our last visit cost me several pounds and got me nowhere.
Witless: I might recall where your mangy rabbit got to.
Timeskip
Following the retired nurse to the rooftop where she kept her pigeons. Alice could sense that Witless had more sinister motives for bringing her there.
Alice: Nurse Witless, do you mean to harm me? To send me back to the asylum?
Witless: I won't say no… I've a thirst you could photograph… Need a drink…
Suddenly wings sprouted from her back.
Witless: More than my whistle needs wheting…
Taking up aspects of the Jabberwock, Nurse Witless roars at Alice.
Alice: No! Leave me alone!
As Alice backs away, the floor starts to crumble. Giving way and Alice falls through.
Alice: Please, help me! Izuku!
Scene Change
Alice: Please, help me! Izuku!
Izuku: Alice!
Hearing the phantom screams, Izukufrantically looked around his room.
Izuku: Alice!
Alice: Izuku!
Izuku: Alice!
The floor of his room started to crumble and gave way. The green haired boy falls.
Izuku: AHHH!
Scene Change
Expecting to fall into the floor below his room, Izuku instead finds himself in a void filled with teacups, chairs, gears and various other items.
Izuku: What's happening!
Getting his bearings together for a moment, the green haired hero notices below him a floating valley. One that he is approaching very fast.
Izuku: I need to slow down my descent!
Izuku: One For All: Full Cowl
Building up energy throughout his body. Izuku releases a shockwave and a flash of light envelops him. His clothes start to transform as now he wears a green dress shirt under a white vest, green capri pants that lead into striped socks that end in red shoes. With his hand dons leather green gloves as a ribbon tie under his neck holds a pendant of the omega symbol.
Scene Change
[Play Alice: Madness Returns OST Valley of Tears]
Opening his eyes, the slowly dissenting green haired boy now finds himself near a river that falls off the floating edge of land.
Izuku: This place… Could it be…
Alice: Very upsetting journey. But I'm rid of Pris… or whatever she's become.
Hearing the familiar voice nearby, Izuku looks over to see a woman with fair skin and black long hair. Dressed in a blue dress, striped socks and knee high boots.
Izuku: Is that really you… Alice?
The woman turns around in shock, not expecting anyone to be behind her.
Alice: Izuku.
For a moment, the two just stare at each other. Not sure what to make of the situation. All of a sudden Alice rushes into Izuku. Quickly wrapping him in her arms.
Alice: Izuku!
Izuku: Alice! Is it really you?
Alice:Of course it is! You silly green boy! You have no idea how much I missed you! Especially after…
?: As touching as this moment is. I'm afraid this will have to continue later…
Separating for a moment, Izuku and Alice see a familiar grinning cat, only instead of seeing his usual plump self. The Cheshire Cat now looks emaciated.
Izuku: Cheshire Cat?
Cheshire Cat: It has been a long time, Izuku. Alice.
Alice: Blasted cat! Don't try to bully me! I'm very on edge.
Cheshire Cat: Purrrrfect. When you're not on edge, you're taking up too much space.
Alice: You're no help at all!
Cheshire Cat: But you know I can be.
Alice: I'll frighten myself when necessary, thanks very much. I was hoping to escape from all that.
Izuku: Escape from all that?
Cheshire Cat: Abandon that hope! A new law reigns in this Wonderland, Alice. It's very rough justice all round. We're at risk here. You two… be on your guard.
He then disappears leaving a confused Izuku alone with a jaded Alice.
Izuku: New law? Rough justice? Alice what's going on? Wonderland seems so different now.
Alice: … Come along. A lot has happened since you left.
As the two make their way through the Vale of Tears. Alice begins to explain to Izuku what has happened in her last adventure in Wonderland.
Izuku: So the Queen of Hearts had ruled Wonderland in a brutal dictatorship and many of the inhabitants of this place had gone dark?.
Jumping on a floating domino piece, Alice replies with
Alice: Basically, thus I had to stop that monstrous monarch but now it seems like a new evil had taken her place.
Izuku: I still can't believe that this is Wonderland. It looks the same but feels so different.
Izuku: Could it be that her quirk doesn't send the person to another world but a world based on Alice's psyche?
Alice: I've been living with Dr. Bumby but as I was getting the prescriptions I ran into Nurse Witless. Who then tries to blackmail me into giving her money. The nerve!
Izuku: What was she trying to blackmail you with?
Alice: Um… She- Wait, we have arrived!
The pair arrive at a purple waterfall created by a giant bottle lodged in the foliage. A bottle that had the paper tag that reads "Drink Me". The Cheshire Cat appears
Cheshire Cat: Though lacking a bathing costume, a plunge in that pool is in order!
Izuku: Alice, are you sure about this?
Alice: I'm sure Izuku.
As Alice splashes the purple liquid over her and she begins to shrink.
Izuku: Oh my god! You're shrinking! Are you going to disappear!
Cheshire Cat: Almost. But the upside is that while smaller you can see things that are nearly invisible to your bigger self.
Alice then returns to her normal size.
Alice: "Forest for the trees"; just the other way 'round. Short-sighted is more than a matter of perspective. Come on now Izuku it's your turn. Just think about shrinking whenever you want the effect to take place.
Izuku: If you say so.
Repeating the actions of his companion, Izuku splashes the purple concoction on to himself and the same effect happens until he is as small as a mouse.
Quickly getting out of the pool, Izuku returns to normal size.
Izuku: So what now?
Alice: Now we go where the arrows point.
Shrinking down, they see these purple arrows that lead them to a keyhole shaped tunnel. Which they went through and discovered a blue glowing mushroom.
Alice: Ready to jump?
Grabbing her hand Izuku's the two jump on the mushroom. Which then launches them high in the sky.
Floating down once again, they land near a river that falls off the edge of land similar to where the two first landed. However the river is stained red.
Izuku: Is this blood?!
Alice stayed silent as she walks along the river bank until she and Izuku arrives at a clearing. Where the bones of the Jabberwock lie.
Izuku: A skeleton?!
Alice: Of the Jabberwock. Although he's in a different place where I last left him.
Izuku: Alice… Did you kill the Jabberwock?
Alice: Izuku… you had no idea the things I had to go through in my last visit to this world.
Noticing a family knife lodged in the skeleton, Alice approaches it as the Cheshire Cat appears.
Cheshire Cat: The Vorpal Blade is swift and keen. And always ready for service.
The blade then dislodges from the skeleton of the Jabberwock by itself and floats to Alice's hands.
Alice: I've not come back here looking for a fight.
Cheshire Cat: Really? That's a pity. One's certainly looking for you.
Then he disappears again, with his now sinister looking grin the last thing to turn invisible.
Izuku: Alice what exactly hap-
Alice: Shh! Do you hear that?
Listening to his surroundings, Izuku can hear the sounds of moving bubbling liquid.
Alice: It's coming from there.
Following Alice , Izuku finds himself in another clearing with puddles of black goo.
Puddles that suddenly begin to rise and take form with a broken porcelain baby doll face.
The insidious ruin makes themselves known. Alice then moves in front of Izuku as she brandishes the vorpal blade.
Alice: Stay behind me! I handle them!
She then starts to hear the sound of electricity and she looks behind to see green lightning surrounding Izuku's body.
Izuku: 5% Detroit Smash!
Leaping at the enemy, Izuku lands a punch that splatters it all over the ground. Soon more enemies begin to rise but Alice is still stunned at what she has witnessed.
Alice: Izuku… you have a quirk!
And that is it for the first part of chapter 1. Don't expect me to regularly update. I'm kinda busy with college but I do hope you all enjoy the story so far.
