In the cold dead of night, eight year old Naruto Namikaze is running as fast as he could, away from that place he used to call home. The boy had tears falling from his eyes, tears that were full of anger and sadness.

But why was he running away from his home and crying such tears?

It's because he's tired of it. He's tired of all of it. All the ridicules and insults, the talking behind his back, the bullying, being called a failure. He's sick and tired of the torment that he's been forced to endure for so long and it was time for him to get away from it…away from them.

See eight years ago, four children were born on the same day of October 10th, two boys and two girls. These children were quadruplets and Naruto was one of them. After they were born, a masked man came in and extracted the Nine-Tailed Fox out of his mother and used it to nearly destroy the village along with its people. But thankfully, his father, the Fourth Hokage, tried his hardest to stop it. He was planning to sacrifice his life to seal the beast into one of his children. However, the Third Hokage beat him to it and split the beast apart and sealed it in two of the quads.

In order, the quads were born as Naomi, Naruto, Menma and Natsumi. Naomi had the yin half and Menma had the yang.

After the battle, everyone was heartbroken and saddened by Lord Third's death and sacrifice for the village, but they soon broke out into cheers as two of the four children were declared heroes for saving the village and their lives.

Years passed since that battle and things were pretty good for Naruto. His family were once happy and they loved each other very much, but...after the quads turned five, things have changed. For some reason, Minato and Kushina decided to train Naomi, Natsumi, and Menma. When Naruto asked why he wasn't included, his father told him it was because they (Naomi and Menma) needed to learn how to control the demon fox's powers while Natsumi, who had awakened the Uzumaki clan's special Chakra Chains one day, had to learn how to control them.

Naruto understood it at first since he figured after they were done then they would include him.

But sadly that never happened.

After that announcement, his parents hadn't paid any attention to him. Somehow it even leaked across the village and both villagers and shinobi were giving them their full support. Everybody loves and adores the triplets.

But what about him? Naruto Namikaze?

Nothing. They acted like he didn't exist.

Slowly everyone throughout the village started to ignore Naruto in favor of his more prodigal siblings as they showed a lot more promise of being shinobi than him. Even during their sixth birthday party, everyone brought lots of presents for his siblings but not one present for him, making him feel heartbroken.

The children were then enrolled into the Ninja Academy in hopes of one day becoming ninjas. On their first day, the triplets scored an excellent score during their very first ninja course and of course gained popularity among the children.

Naruto however, didn't get an excellent score like his siblings. He got an average but he was close to becoming dead-last, making nearly everyone, even his siblings, laugh at him. He never could make any friends at the Ninja Academy, because his siblings were popular and he wasn't, so of course they would ignore him or make fun of him whenever he got something wrong or did something stupid.

So when he asked his parents for training once again, they told him no and went out to ignore him again, causing the pain to increase in his heart. He would then take it upon himself to train alone just so he can impress everyone with his skills. He'd even sneak into his dad's study to learn from the jutsu scrolls, of course while nobody was looking or paying attention to him.

But no matter what he did, no matter how hard he trained, he was still not able to catch up to his siblings or peers, which always made him the dead last and that made everyone believe he was not fit to be a ninja, even his own family. He was, after all, only a kid and kids needed help from those around them, but his family didn't want to help him at all. In fact, it looked like they didn't want anything to do with him.

To his parents, they act like he didn't exist and would shoo him away as if he was a fly. To his siblings, he was a disgrace and insult to their clan. In fact, there was a time when his siblings looked up to him, including Naomi despite her being the first born. It was due to how often Naruto would take charge in most situations when they were younger and they would at times follow him since he knew how to have fun and he was also very protective of them as any good sibling should.

But that changed as soon as they began their training.

It was only then during their eighth birthday party, which happened not too long ago, did things take a turn for the worst for the young Namikaze. His supposed godfather Jiraiya and his teammate Tsunade came and announced to everyone that not only will they be training them but they also got them summoning contracts.

It was announced that because they did so well at the Academy, they graduated early and officially became genin much to everyone's absolute joy and amazement as they gave them much praise and love.

Like an expensive glass vase that fell and shattered on the floor, Naruto's heart shattered into a million pieces as he watched nearly the whole village cheer for them while his parents hugged and kissed them with so much love and affection that it broke him as they never once did that to him.

It made him painfully realize...that his family didn't want him and that they really were happy without him. With tears flowing out of his eyes, he ran away from the scene. First, it was from the house, then he made his way out of the village, now here he is running throughout the forest.

He just ran, ran and ran with no destination in mind. He just wanted to get away from that painful place where knew he would never be happy. He was so focused on just running that he didn't pay attention to the person he bumped into, making him fall flat on his bottom.

"Oh?" The person, who sounded like a man, turned around to see who bumped into him, only to be surprised to see it was a crying child. He quickly crouched to his level and helped him up. "My goodness! Are you alright, lad?"

Naruto, who still had fresh tears falling from his eyes, looked up at the man he bumped into. It was an elderly man who was holding a cane. He was kinda fat, but not as fat as the Akimichi Clan. He was dressed like those guys who are good with science stuff, which consisted of a white lab coat, which was open to show him wearing a yellow buttoned up vest, red pants and brown shoes. He was also slouching slightly.

The runaway child looked at the man's face, seeing him have a big white beard and blue eyes much like his own and...the Fourth Hokage. However, unlike him, Naruto noted that the older man's eyes were filled with warmth, kindness, care and worry, emotions he wasn't quite used to.

"Y-Yeah. I-I'm fine." Naruto said, trying his hardest to wipe the tears away. He sniffed. "S-Sorry."

The older man frowned slightly as he observed the crying child before him. Blond spiky hair, blue eyes like his own, three whisker-like marks on his cheeks, a simple black shirt with a red spiral on it and white pants. This poor boy was clearly not fine. His clothes were covered in dirt, minor injuries on his knees and arms, tears were streaming down his eyes like a waterfall and what's more he was out here in the middle of the night, all by himself.

The elderly man rubbed Naruto's head softly, getting him to look up to see a gentle smile on his face. "Now, now, there's no need to cry little one." He reached into his lab coat and took out a tissue, which he used to gently wipe the tears and snot off of Naruto's face. "There we go. What's your name, if you don't mind me asking?"

Naruto sniffed again. "I'm Naruto N..." No. He didn't want to use their name. "Just Naruto."

"It's nice to meet you, Naruto. My name is Thomas Hikari." Thomas introduced himself. "Now what are you doing out here so late at night Naruto?"

"I...I…" Naruto clenched his shirt. "I ran away from home."

"You ran away? Now why on earth would you do that? Aren't your family worried sick about you?" The elderly man asked, curious to know why he ran away from his home. He was confused when Naruto shook his head and looked like he was about ready to cry again.

"My family…" Naruto sobbed. "They…they don't love me! They don't want me!"

Thomas released a shocked gasp from the answer just as Naruto began to cry once again. He frowned to himself, a lot of questions running through his head before he shook his head. No, right now this child needs help so he'll think about all that stuff later once he hears his story.

"It's okay Naruto." Thomas said as he gently grabbed Naruto's hand, getting him to stop crying once again. "Come along, let's get you inside."

Naruto blinked in confusion at that as he used his other to wipe his tears away. "Inside? Inside where?"

"My house of course." Thomas replied.

"Your...house?" Naruto now looked absolutely lost. They were in the middle of a forest, there were no houses around here. He began to wonder if this old man was senile.

Thomas let a jolly laugh escape his lips as he winked at Naruto. "Watch this."

"...huh?" Naruto noticed that a blue light started to appear right below them. He looked down to see a blue light surrounding him and the old man in a circle which startled him. "Hey! What's…!?"

A beam of blue light enveloped them and the two vanished with Naruto not knowing that his sad painful days are finally coming to an end.

Mega 1: A New Mega Hero

Cover Art: The cover art shows a grinning Naruto looking up at the sky as he holds a blue helmet in his left arm while tossing a blue orb in the other.

The story that's about to begin, actually started on the night we met. When he brought me to his home country, which is on an island away from the Shinobi Nations, and I told him my story, he immediately took me in without a second thought. I was still a bit hesitant in trusting him right off the bat, but after spending weeks with him, I started to open up to him more...and eventually I began to see him as my grandpa and myself as a Hikari.

The years I stayed with him have been the greatest years of my life. We did everything together and he also taught me a lot of things especially when it comes to technology and anything science related.

But one night, on the day of a meteor shower, that was when everything changed for me.

Little ten year old Naruto excitedly ran out of the lab with a telescope in his hand. He wore a blue shirt, with the picture of a gear piece on it, black shorts and black shoes. He looked up at the starry night, not even trying to hide his excitement as he was hopping in place. He looked back at the house.

"Grandpa! Come on, you're gonna miss it!"

A jolly laugh reached Naruto's ears as Dr. Hikari came out of the lab to join his grandson. "Now now, lad. I'm on my way. I'm not as young as I used to be."

Naruto didn't pay it no mind at all as he was too full of excitement. "Oh man! This is gonna be awesome! This will be the first time I ever see a meteor shower! I've never seen one before and I don't want to miss it!"

"I know. Truthfully, I too wish to see them as well." Dr. Hikari honestly said, taking a seat on a log. "It has been far too long since I've seen a meteor shower."

"Really? When was the last time you saw a meteor shower?" Naruto asked, sitting down next to his grandfather.

"Why, I was around your age when I saw my first meteor shower with my parents." Dr. Hikari said, looking up at the stars while stroking his beard. "Like I said, it has been too long since I last saw them so I'm feeling a bit nostalgic and happy."

"Happy to relive your childhood?" Naruto asked, rocking back and forth.

"Well, there's that. But…" Dr. Hikari looked at Naruto and gave him a wink. "I'm happy that I'm sharing this experience with my grandson."

Naruto looked as though he wasn't expecting him to say that judging by the look of surprise he gave his grandfather. But that alone didn't stop him from feeling happy to hear him say that. Even though they weren't related by blood, his grandpa truly loved him so much that he wants to share his experience with him, something the Hokage's family never even tried to do with him.

"Oh! Look! It's starting!" Thomas told Naruto, making the young blond look up before his eyes sparkled in delight.

The two saw bright streaks of light flying across the sky. Naruto stood up from the log and ran further ahead to try and get a better look at the meteors. "Wow! Awesome!"

Thomas chuckled at Naruto's amazement and wonder as he too looked up at the falling stars. He frowned worriedly as he noticed the meteors were getting close. A little too close to his liking as he felt them rumbling near them. He immediately stood up. "Naruto, I think we better head back inside."

"Huh?" Naruto turned to Thomas with a pouty face. "But the meteor shower isn't over yet, grandpa! Can't we stay for a little longer?"

"Naruto, I…" Thomas's eyes moved up to the meteor shower before his eyes widened in alarm and fear as he saw a meteor heading towards his grandson. "NARUTO! GET OUT OF THE WAY NOW!"

Naruto's eyes widened from his hearing grandpa's alarmed yelling, making him turn around. The only thing he could see was the bright light of the fireball slammed into his body before he could even let out a startled cry.

"NARUTO!" Thomas called in fear as he hurriedly went to the crater where the meteor slammed into his grandson. A gasp escaped his lips as he saw Naruto unconscious in the crater with what looked like a piece of metal fragment in his chest along with a bunch of other fragments surrounding him. "No...Health Care Units! Bring my grandson to the lab at once!"

Naruto groaned in pain as he opened his eyes, only to hear ringing in his ears. He saw his grandpa holding him as gently as he could while looking at him worriedly. "Grand...pa…" He closed his eyes just as he saw the Health Care Units heading their way.

After that meteor struck me, I've been unconscious for about two days with my grandpa watching over me to make sure I was okay. Grandpa also grabbed the fragments of the meteor to study them just to make sure that whatever that meteor was wasn't of any harm to me. But boy was he shocked when something amazing happened to me when I was asleep.

And to be honest, I was shocked as well.

"This is...truly astonishing!" Dr. Hikari was sitting on the computer as he observed the data of the metallic sphere and the energy readings it was giving off.

It had been two days since the meteor shower accident and he's been studying the fragments of the meteor, which he learned had seemed to come from some highly advanced civilization judging by the metallic material. However, as soon as the Health Care Units brought Naruto back in the house and took the shard out of his chest, the pieces of the fragments came together to form a metal ball with strange symbols on it with bluish white energy surrounding it.

Thomas linked the metal ball to his computer and began to analyze it and what he discovered stunned him greatly. He discovered the energy the metal ball was producing is stable yet more powerful than any energy on the planet. It was both stronger and cleaner than even nuclear energy itself which meant that it could even have the potential to affect the ecosystem of the planet maybe even power up an old broken machine or enhance it just like the energy did to his computer the day he linked it with the metal ball.

He decided to call this newly discovered energy; Mega Energy.

"Within the right hands, this Mega Energy could do so much good in the world." Dr. Hikari said, sitting back on his chair and placing a hand on his beard. "While at the same time, it could also be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands."

Glancing at the bed, he saw Naruto was still sound asleep. He stood up and walked over to the bed, rubbing Naruto's head softly, frowning slightly. Two days since his grandson has been in this coma and he still hasn't shown signs of waking up and he doesn't know why. Thanks to his Uzumaki genes, the wound on his chest had already healed, so what was the problem? Why hasn't he woke up yet?

Could it be that shard really in fact did something to him? If so, then what?

While Thomas focused on Naruto, he didn't see what was going on behind him. The metal ball started to shake and hum so softly that the good scientist wasn't able to hear it. The symbols on the metal ball started flashing a blue color as though it was powering itself. As if it had a mind of its own, the energy of the metal ball began to make its way inside the computer and began to gather data that was inside the system. As it dived deeper into the system, it also found some hidden data.

Data on various boys wearing blue armor.

The sphere let out a gentle hum as though it found what it was searching for and analyzed the data on these blue armored boys. Once it was finished with it's analysis, the mysterious energy returned to the sphere. A second later, the flashing lights of the metal ball stopped and remained glowing.

Thomas was about to go back to work on the metal ball until he saw something amazing happening to his grandson. "Naruto?" His body, partially the chest where the fragment was taken out off, began to emit bluish white glow, the same as the Mega Energy from the metal ball. He tried to reach out to touch him but jumped in surprise when he saw Naruto open his now glowing eyes and started floating in the air.

Naruto turned to the metal ball and reached his hands out towards it, making it vibrate before if started to float make it's way towards him. Once the metal ball reached Naruto's hands, he started to move it around as though it was a puzzle piece. Meanwhile, Thomas was watching this strange phenomenon happen with curious yet cautious eyes.

"What on earth?" The good doctor asked himself, his scientific mind trying to come up with whatever it was that was happening. He watched as Naruto stopped doing what he was doing and moved his hands away from the metal ball slightly just as it let out a loud hum.

Much to Thomas' surprise, the metal ball opened itself up, revealing a small glowing blue orb radiating a bluish white fiery aura. The orb has rings of what looked like data or energy circling around it. Inside the orb looked to be a vortex of blue lights moving around. Soon as the glowing orb revealed itself, the metal ball that contained it fell to the floor while the glowing orb remained floating between Naruto's hands.

"Incredible..." Thomas said in slight awe, making sure to observe the mysterious glowing blue orb. He began to wonder if this was the source of the Mega Energy or the energy itself gaining it's own form? Whatever it was, it's still incredible to see something like it. He turned his attention to his grandson to see what he was about to do with this...Mega Orb.

Naruto moved his hands up, bringing the Mega Orb close to his chest as it sipped inside him. Glowing blue circuit lines began to appear on Naruto's body while at the same time rings of energy appeared around him. The young blond closed his eyes and remained motionless as the rings covered his entire being with Thomas looking on in amazement.

"Naruto...what's happening to you lad?" Thomas asked out loud, looking on with wonder in his eyes.

His question will soon be answered as he saw the rings of energy landing on the floor, and were beginning to disperse. Once they were fully gone, Thomas's eyes widened in absolute shock from what he saw. In fact, he was so shocked and stunned by it that he dropped his cane.

"It...it can't be…"

Not only did Naruto grow taller than the average ten year old boy, his face looked like it lost the baby fat he once had and was more angular. He also noticed that his whisker-like marks that were on his cheeks are gone. What's more, he now wore a black spandex like suit that is decorated with blue glowing circuit lines. The suit even had blue armor plating over it which consisted of cybernetic gauntlets and matching boots with shoulder guards. The helmet has a darker blue ridge atop with glowing cyan lines and a blue diamond shape lens. Some of his hair was also sticking out from behind the helmet.

The scientist felt his eyes water slightly the longer he stared at Naruto's new form. It reminded him of someone very precious to him. Someone whom he hadn't seen in such a very long time since coming to these lands. He closed his eyes and shook his head. No, none of that reminiscing. He hurriedly walked up to Naruto, grabbing his shoulders to gently shake him.

"Naruto! Lad, are you all right?"

Naruto groaned slightly and clenched his brows together. He slowly opened his eyes and stared up at the worried Thomas. "Grandpa?"

"Oh thank heavens!" Thomas pulled Naruto into a hug, jolting him out of his stupor. "I'm so happy that you're okay my boy."

"Of course I'm okay." Naruto said, returning the hug, though he did look uncertain. "I...think."

"Naruto, tell me. Do you remember what happened to you?" Thomas asked, releasing Naruto to stare directly at him.

"I...I remember seeing a bright light but then everything went dark." Naruto answered honestly. "What happened?"

"You were hit by one of the meteors and have been in a coma for two days." Thomas answered.

"Two days!?" Naruto touched his head in shock before feeling the helmet he was wearing. "What the heck?" He looked at his hands and then looked down at his body giving off a startled yell. He turned to a mirror in the room and saw what he was wearing. "W-What happened to me?! Where did this outfit come from?"

"Calm down and listen, son." Thomas said, making Naruto stop examining himself. "I believe that meteor did something amazing to you."

Naruto looked confused. "Something amazing? What do you mean?"

Thomas smiled warmly at him before turning to the metal container making Naruto follow his gaze at it. "That meteor gave you a wonderful gift; a special kind of power that's completely new and unique only to you." He looked back at Naruto's now shocked expression. "This form that you're in is that power."

"But grandpa, what kind of power is this?" Naruto asked, looking at himself once again.

Thomas smiled fondly at him. "It's the power to become Mega Man."

"Mega...Man?" Naruto questioned, never hearing such a thing. He tilt his head to the side, looking quite confused yet also curious. "What's a Mega Man?"

"Not what. Who." Thomas stated before chuckling. "And well...it's a very long story so I'll just say this; Mega Man is a symbol. A hero who fights for justice and peace for all creatures. A hero who fights for hope. And Naruto...you have become that same Mega Man. You are the one who will bring hope to this world."

Naruto's eyes widened at hearing what his grandfather told him, too stunned by what he said to say anything. He merely looked down at his gauntlet covered hands with awe. "Mega Man…"

I know, crazy right? Gramps and I never expected something like this to happen but it did. Crazy how life can be unpredictable.

On that same day Gramps did an examination on me. The blue orb, or Mega Orb as gramps called it, had completely imprinted itself inside my body and is now a part of my system. Because of that it enhanced my body to the point where gramps believed I was passed beyond the peak of human condition.

My speed, strength, endurance, durability, even all of my senses have skyrocketed through the roof. It was as if the Mega Orb had removed the limits of my body. But gramps did tell me I still have some hidden potential in me and that potential just increased further thanks to the blue orb.

Once my examination was over, I wanted to begin my training. Grampa was a bit reluctant at first but was okay with it. After all, it's like what gramps told me during my examination; Those with great power will always be hunted by those who wish to have it for themselves. That's just how humans are.

So, for about two years, gramps has been helping me with my training via virtual training simulation. During these training sessions we learned that the Mega Orb also gave me some other powers as well, like giving me technopathy, allowing me to see a brief glance into the future among many others.

However, in the year when I was 12, grandpa fell ill. That year...would be the last time I spoke with him.

Twelve year old Naruto was walking to Dr. Hikari's room, holding a tray of food with warm tea. He changed a lot in the years he's been with Dr. Hikari and after the blue orb entered his body. He now stood at an impressive height that made it look like he was 14-15 years despite his current age. Along with the height increase, his body had gotten leaner and more muscular thanks to the incredible three year training he did. His eyes were now a deeper shade of blue that made them look like blue sapphires. His hair also changed as instead of just being yellow blond, it had blue highlights in them that look like they were glowing. While it still kept it's spiky nature, it was now softer and in short layers with swayed back bangs.

He wore a short sleeve blue jacket that had two chest pockets and regular pockets. The jacket also has a stylized white 'M' with a spiral crest behind it. Under it, he wore a black t-shirt that had a yellow circuit symbol for light. He wore light grey pants and blue shoes.

Naruto reached for his grandpa's door just as it opened automatically. "Hey Grandpa! Lunch is here!"

"Ah, thank you Naruto." Dr. Hikari said before coughing.

Naruto smiles as he walks right up to his grandpa, who is currently resting in bed and reading a book. Though he was smiling outside, inwardly Naruto was feeling both worried and scared. Dr. Hikari was not feeling better at all. If anything, he was getting weaker and more sickly. The medicine he was giving him wasn't even helping much.

The growing boy sat the food down on the table and began to grab the spoon before Thomas stopped him.

"Honestly, lad. I'm okay with feeding myself." Thomas said with a weak chuckle.

"No way. You're too sick." Naruto said.

"I may be sick, but that doesn't mean I can't move my own arms." Thomas told him as he took the spoon and began to dig into his soup.

"C'mon gramps! You've been taking care of me for so long. You should at least let me take care of you!" Naruto said with a pouty face which made Thomas rub his hair softly.

"I know and I very much appreciate it, but there's no need to help feed me as if I'm some newborn baby." Thomas said with Naruto turning away and scratching his cheek in a sheepish manner.

"Eh, sorry."

The rest of the day went by rather smoothly aside from the brief coughing of his grandfather. The two of them just sat in the room and talked about how their day has been going so far. It was now mid-day with Naruto and Dr. Hikari looking outside the window to watch the setting sun.

"Naruto."

"Yeah?"

"Ever since I came to these lands, I never fathered any biological children of my own mainly because I was too old." Dr. Hikari told him, bringing Naruto's attention to himself. "Because of that, I've been living all alone these past couple years...at least until you came along."

"Grandpa?" Naruto questioned.

"Meeting you that night has been truly wonderful for me." Thomas said as he turned to his grandson with a warm smile. "I was able to have a grandson of my own. One whom I was able to share all my experiences and knowledge with. Since then, everyday with you has been ever so fun."

Naruto's eyes widened a little bit before he smiled at his grandpa. "Yeah! I feel the same way about you grandpa! I love learning things from you and hearing stories about your life. To be honest, I'm glad I ran away from Konoha. If I hadn't I probably wouldn't have met you and still be...well, you know."

Thomas nodded in understanding. "This world...it doesn't deserve to have someone like you." Naruto looked confused. "You are a gentle and kind boy who always rush in to help those in trouble without asking for anything in return and care for those close to you even before you had your powers. It's truly a shame that the people of Konoha and the Namikaze Clan were unable to see this and instead treated you so horribly. Children like you shouldn't have to live such an awful childhood nor be trained to become killers to die for their village, especially those who have the Tailed Beasts sealed in them. I believe that's why the meteor gave you that power. To help change this world and make it a better place for everyone, including the Tailed Beasts who are sought out for their power."

"Grandpa…"

Music: Sadness and Sorrow [Naruto OST]

"Naruto...I've watched you grow up these past four years and I truly believe that you were born to do wonderful things for this world, which is why you alone are more worthy of being Mega Man. Never forget that kindness in your heart and don't ever change who you are no matter what happens in the near future." Thomas told him.

"W-What do ya mean, grandpa? Why are you talking like that?" Naruto asked, feeling incredibly nervous and worried. Why was gramps talking like this would be the last time he'll speak with him?

Thomas only gave his grandson a sad knowing smile which made his eyes widen at the silent confirmation that it was almost time. Naruto tried to say something, to try to deny it and reassure his grandfather that he will be fine. But after seeing his grandpa's expression of acceptance, no words came out. It made Naruto's face go stiff with his lips trembling. He looked down as he bit his bottom so that he won't sob and no tears would escape. He didn't want his grandpa to see him like this and he had to say what his grandpa wanted to hear.

"No problem, grandpa!" Naruto said, a little bit louder than necessary as he looked up to show the big smile on his face. "You didn't even have to tell me that! I'm Naruto Hikari! I never go back on my word!" He pounded his fist on his chest, grinning happily. "Just watch me, I'll become the greatest Mega Man that this world has ever seen before! You can count on it!"

Thomas smiles happily at hearing those wonderful words. But that smile was also sad as he could see his grandson was trying to fight back the tears that were no doubt starting to form. He immediately brought Naruto into a warm and gentle embrace, surprising him as he remained still.

"You truly are a kind young man, Naruto." Thomas said softly, tears of his own starting to appear in his eyes. "From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for coming into my life and making me your grandfather. I will always cherish the times we have spent together." Tears fell from his eyes and landed in Naruto's hair. "Though I am saddened that I won't be able to watch you grow up into a man, I will always be with you; in your memories, your heart and in spirit watching over you. Keep moving forward with your head held high. And lastly, never forget...I am very proud of having you as a grandson. I love you, Naruto."

By now, tears were already falling from Naruto's widened eyes and he desperately closed them to stop them even though it wasn't working. "GRANDPA!" He moved his arms and wrapped them around his grandfather as sobs escaped from his lips. The sobs grew louder as he felt his grandpa's grip on him loosen and fall which only made Naruto hug him tighter.

Dr. Thomas Hikari passed away peacefully with a smile on his face and the cries of a lone boy who lost his only family echoed throughout the whole house.

The following morning...the Health Care Units took his body away. Those who were close to my grandpa and I heard about what happened and came to comfort me. After the funeral service, Grandpa was cremated and I spread his ashes at the special place where we would always spend time together. It took me a while but I got out of my grieving phases and continued moving forward just like grandpa wanted me to do.

During that year, I decided to leave the country and travel around the Shinobi Nations. Let's just say, a lot of crazy stuff went down. What started from doing minor jobs like saving small villages and towns from bandits and rogue shinobi ended up becoming something major. I saved a minor country that was taken over by a drug dealer, I protected a princess and stopped her evil uncle from taking over her country, I stopped a civil war from within the Land of Water, the list keeps getting longer and longer.

Because of these actions, I've been known throughout the Shinobi Nations. Of course, they know me as Naruto Hikari but most if not all know me by my title Mega Man since people have seen my transformation. For some reason, these guys have also been giving me other nicknames as well and to be honest it's kinda lame.

They call me Blue Shinobi, The Mega Ninja, Mighty Kid, Ninja of the Future. These were among many names and they just getting lamer and lamer. Where the heck did that Mighty Kid name even come from?

Heck they even called me the Blue Bomber and Blue Comet. I liked the Blue Comet nickname better, don't know why they call me Blue Bomber, besides that name's already taken.

And I'm getting off tracked. Sorry guys, ignore my rambling.

*Ahem* My name is Naruto Hikari and this is my story. The story of a new Mega Man in the World of Shinobi; Mega Man Maelstrom! Let's rock it!

Author's Note: That's right! Another remake of my brother's old story is here! Mega Man Neo is now called Mega Man Maelstrom. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to remake Mega Man Neo but I found some fan artwork by someone named ultimatemaverickx and I found myself awestruck at how amazing their artstyle is. I already follow them on DeviantArt. In fact, it was their art style that got me inspired to redo Mega Man Neo! and make a newer version of it.

Of course, the first thing I wanted to do was change its name as there's another fanfic called Mega Man: Neo by MetalSonic30 and I wanted it to be different as this is a Mega Man and Naruto xover. I originally wanted to call the story Mega Man Naruto but it didn't sit right with me so instead I just stuck with Maelstrom as it's more fitting.

Next, I wanted there to be a special grandfather and grandson bond between the living Dr. Hikari and the young runaway Naruto. It's to show that Naruto has become someone who is interested in all types of science practices all thanks to Dr. Hikari teaching him things. Now before you guys, yes, I know I switched the last name for the japanese name but there is a reason for that.

This version is an amalgamation of the Thomas Light from Mega Man (Classic series) and Tadashi Hikari (Mega Man Battle Network). But this version still has memories...or at least visions of the Mega Men from different eras and worlds; how he has the data on each of them will be explained in the next chapter.

Next, the origin of how Naruto got his powers. Personally, my version makes better sense. I mean, my brother was still in high school when he first published Mega Man Neo all those years ago and after reading it over and over again, I realized that it could've been way better if he changed and fixed some stuff, like the helmet. Plus, all these Legacy Armors and him gaining all these weapons from virtual duplicates of Robot Masters and Mavericks sounds way too OP. So, I decided to not use the concept in this remake.

Also, his outfit isn't based on the Over-0 concept art like in Mega Man Neo. This is completely original and I'm thinking of requesting ultimatemaverickx to make an art on it.

Now the meteorite that crashed into Naruto, as you probably guessed already, is from an alien origin. After all, the thing did analyze the data of the different Mega Men (not including Model X and Vent/Aile) and was able to create the blue orb that gave him his powers. This doesn't mean that Naruto has all the Mega Man's powers and abilities, like Weapon Copy System and all that. He has the basic skills that every Mega Man possesses like Dashing and Mega Buster, but he has his own unique skill set to help him stand out amongst the other Mega Men, which will go into more detail as the story moves on.

That's all I got to say. Enjoy and see you all in the next chapter. Oh and the next chapter will go into more details about the country Naruto is in and how Dr. Hikari's presence affected the Naruto world.
