After what felt like an eternity, Jake Park finally managed to get the exit gate open. Both his girlfriend and his best friend were waiting anxiously behind him, keeping lookout for the killer, and now he waved them forward. Their host was probably busy getting well acquainted with the new guy. Jake and his friends were home free.
"Wait, what about Adam?" Feng asked as they were leaving.
"Who cares?" Sid replied before Jake could answer. "He's a doctor, he can take care of himself."
Jake stopped walking. Adam wasn't necessarily a bad guy, he thought to himself. Quite the opposite. But risking his life or the lives of his loved ones to rescue a complete and total stranger from a serial killer wasn't exactly the sanest thought he'd ever had. Then again, could any of this be considered sane?
Sid said to him, "No way man, I know that look. Don't do anything stupid. Let's just get out of here and–"
Jake spun on his heel and sprinted back into the junkyard without a word.
