Summary: The Devil wants the sweet, eccentric soul of the baroness of sugar land. Will he use her heart to get to her soul?
Baroness Von Bon Bon X Sally Stageplay
Disclaimer: I do not own the Cuphead show or game... also BonBon has yellow eyes in the game and Green eyes in the show. I am going to lean on the show on this one only because when she scares Cuphead her eyes turn orange/yellow. So in my opinion her eyes changes with her mood/attitude.
Chapter 1: Sweet Like Candy
Sugar Land is always bright and pink but the baroness didn't care for the consistency. Finding new things to do was getting more and more difficult as the days flew by. Her enjoyment slipped away slowly as she took a few pinches of sprinkles, dropping them into enclosures full of animal crackers. BonBon leaned on her elbow as she watched her pets violently rip at the pieces of sugar. "There you go sweeties." She sighed softly, reaching for the castle gate switch.
A light breeze ruffled her curls, even the cake like dress swayed. Chuckles filled the air as the baroness twirled and sang. It didn't take long for her to grow tired. She has seen everything in Sugar Land, experienced everything, tasted everything. She tried to enjoy herself, but it was just her and her candy. It was always just her and her candy. Occasionally a stray child would grab her attention, but she didn't really care for it. Eating them was the best part in her opinion.
She sat near The Hot Fudge Spring later that afternoon. It had been one of the slower days for her, so she wondered if she should just jump in. It would be messy, but who would deny her? "Baroness!" A small blue gummy bear ran up to her in a huffing mess. "Good evening Berry. What's wrong?" She ask, maybe a bit too excited. The bear caught his breath before speaking. "The Devil is here to see you, my lady." Bon Bon gasped before getting up. She brushed herself off thinking to herself. 'What a con man. Like I'd give up my soul easily. Well at least his visits are rare.'
"Aw~ your lady ship. It's been a while." The Devil smiled, swirling his tail between his fingers. "I am not giving you my soul." BonBon's eyes faded from her playfully green to a strict yellow. Even her tone changed to a more regal one. A candy cane was held tightly in her right hand and the other clung to her dress. "What? I can't visit a neighboring kingdom? And I had thought you would enjoy some company." He turned to leave, but BonBon rushed forward taking his hand gently. "Oh come now. I was only stating my mind. Please come in." She curtsied as she welcomed him to her castle. "Hasn't changed one bit." The Devil snorted as he made himself comfortable. BonBon snapped and a gingerbread man came running to her side. "Yes my lady! How May I be of service?" He ask politely, bowing his head. BonBon looked over at her guest and he nodded as if he read her mind. "A couple sodas please." She waved him away before taking a seat.
Clenching her soda in one hand and cane with the other, she picked up the conversation. "What brings you out to Sugar Land?" The Devil smirked as he took a sip of the sugary drink. "I wanted to see you of course! Do I have to have a reason?" He asked slyly. "I suppose not, I do enjoy the company." She sighed in response, relaxing her shoulders and allowing herself to regain her pep. Yellow eyes shifted back to a green. "Thank you for coming by. How's The Underworld?" She bounced in her seat in anticipation. "The Underworld? I thought you would ask about the Isles." He playfully batted his eyes. "Well of course I want to know, but you are my guest so let's talk about you!"
The Devil was happy to talk about himself. It had been quite awhile sense anyone had shown any interest in his daily life, and BonBon was definitely interested. She had been practically on the edge of her seat the entire time. "You're so lucky! I may not agree with your work, but at least you can have fun doing it." BonBon pouted, laying her empty bottle down before placing her face into her hands. She grumbled in irritation as her candy heart dropped a few beats. "My dear, there is no need to be upset. I know what will lift your spirits."
BonBon lifted her head, eyes yellow with tears streaking, and a serious frown. "What are you saying?" She huffed, giving him her undivided attention. "How would you like me to tweak your curse a bit? Have a day outside confinement!" He offered holding out his hand to seal the deal. She hesitated, pulling away with her hands close to her chest. "What's the catch?" She growled. "You have been nothing less then kind today, that is payment enough."
The Baroness slowly reached for his hand. Her's shook with nervousness as their fingers touched. "I get a full 24 hours outside Sugar land just for being kind to you? No soul attached?" She asked, wanting to be sure of what she was getting herself into. "Yes. 24 hours outside. Split it up if you'd like, but do keep track. If I have to drag you back it would be embarrassing." He snarled, slowly connecting their hands. "Yes! Yes of course! I'll keep track! Thank you so much!" Her eyes widened with a green glow as she took his hands graciously.
She couldn't sleep. Her body was trembling impatiently as she attempted to get comfortable. "This can't be real! A whole 24 hours!" She giggled uncontrollably sending sheets and blankets through the air. Grabbing her pillow, she rolled around the mattress happily. Curly maroon hair ruffled, making it frizzy and tangled. "I need to sleep! Come on!"
Nothing was going to stop her. BonBon was dressed and out the door before the sun had time to peek over her Ice cream mountains. She tampered with her watch. "How long should I give myself? An hour? Maybe two?" She hopped in place, waiting for the minute hand to reach 12. "Oh come on!" She pleaded, inching toward the tree stump door. As soon as the watch struck the hour BonBon bolted to the outside world she had never seen before!
Blond hair covered it's owner's face as she stretched eagerly. "Good morning!" She yawned enthusiastically. Sally stood from her bed with one more big stretch. Looking in the mirror seemed impossible but the eccentric actress could fake her own reaction. "Oh my!? I have more drama in one little curl then my whole body combined!" She took her brush happily, even when each stroke seemed painfully impossible to control her mess of a head.
"Morning Miss Stageplay!" The owner of the diner Sally always visited welcomed her. "Morning Sol, you know you can call me Sally." She smiled, twirling her closed parasol over her shoulder. "You deserve more recognition then your given." He winked, handing her a small bag of various goodies. "Aw~ you're so sweet! How much do I owe you?" She pulled out her wallet but the man gently placed his hand on hers. "Don't worry about it. You always give me opening night seats, so this is the least I can do."
"Are you sure Sol? I greatly appreciate your kindness." She sweetly kissed his cheek before heading out the door. The bag was heavy but Sally had no issues. It helps to maintain a slim fit figure in her line of work. She slipped her hand inside the bag and pulled out a blueberry muffin. She munched on the treat before her bright eyes met with curious green ones. she paused to look at the cloaked young woman. Maroon hair and bright pink skin was uncommon to see in humanoid residents. She was shocked when the woman pulled down the hood and ran. "Wait Miss!!" Sally reached out and stepped forward, but it was too late.
"Remember what The Devil said!" BonBon yelled to herself as she ran. "I can't get eaten!" She mumbled under her huffing breath. The Devil had given her a black cloak to hide her candy like appearance. If anyone with an appetite saw her, they may fall under the Sugar land curse. The Baroness leaned up against a tree close to her home land. She raised her watch and noticed her hour wasn't quite up yet. She had wondered into town, but as soon as she saw the munching blond she had second thoughts.
Sally had handed over the bag of goodies to her cast mates. "Here you go. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!" She beamed, pulling out her script. As the others dug into the bag, Sally couldn't help but let her mind wonder. 'I've never seen that girl around before. Is she new? Maybe I should have introduced myself...' The others noticed their leader's puzzled look and worried. "Sally? Is there something on your mind?" The tall man with light brown hair asked. He took a seat next to her while nibbling on a jelly doughnut. "I met someone new today." She started. A small sweet smile spread to her lips. "Oh? Someone who hasn't seen a show!? You should have given him a ticket. You seem to like him." He teased, taking a big bite. Sally lowered her booklet to glance up. A slight shade of pink ran across her nose and cheeks. "She." She corrected. The actor choked a bit before answering, "It was a girl?! That's not fair, you always meet beautiful girls." Sally chuckled, "What can I say? I love being apart of the world!" She announced dramatically, waving her arms and projecting clearly.
"I love being part of this world." BonBon laid on the beach. She looked up at the dark clouds forming overhead. "Two hour down... I should probably head back." She sighed, lifting herself from the shifting sand. A few small drops landed on her glove. She began to panic when the candy material started to dissolved. "Oh licorice sticks!" Her eyes turned yellow as she picked up her dress. She ran as fast as she could to the tree, but ended up taking shelter under a strange building's overhang. She sighed, taking a look at the watch. "Oh no! I'll loose time if I wait it out!" BonBon ran a hand down her dress, but by this point it was a mushy mess. She leaned against the door. A strong female voice broke into song, luring the adventurous baroness inside.
Sally closed her eyes briefly as she lifted her voice to begin the song. She belted the first verse before looking toward the Seats. Bright pink got her attention. 'It's her! Maybe I could show off. Just a little ~' A smile broke out on her face as she clinched a hand over her chest, the other reached out. Sally loved singing for a crowd, and this stranger gave her confidence. When she was done her crew clapped for her. The pink one hid behind the seat in front of her. "Alright guys, I could use a brake. Go ahead without me." Sally ordered before prancing off the stage.
"I hope she didn't see me." BonBon whispered to herself. She didn't notice the blond looking down from the seat in front. "Was I any good?" The stranger's voice ran through BonBon's eardrums. She flung back in surprise, "Sorry! I didn't mean to intrude!" The blond looked over the pink mess of runny frosting and cake. "Oh dear! Are you alright?"
"Y...yes. I wasn't prepared for rainy weather." BonBon chuckled nervously, covering herself with the cloth cloak. "I could probably find something that fits you. My name's Sally, Sally Stageplay." The blond introduced herself, holding out a hand. "I'm Baroness Von Bon Bon." BonBon blushed softly as she took the offered hand. Sally couldn't help but blush herself, "My lady~." Sally purred, kissing the jelly like glove that was still clinging to BonBon's skin. She licked her lips, "Wow, that was really sweet. Are you really wearing candy?" Sally asked, leading the drenched noble backstage. "Y...yes." She replied nervously.
BonBon looked around and saw the mostly devoured goodies Sally brought that morning. "I saw you earlier, in town right?" BonBon asked as Sally rummaged through a large trunk. "Yep. I was worried when you ran off." Sally pulled out a short pink dress and held it up to BonBon. She closed one eye and stuck out her tongue in imagination concentration. "S...sorry. I was told to be careful..." Bon Bon touched the dress gently as she continued to speak, "I'll be fine in the cloak. I should really be getting home anyway."
Sally stood up and handed over the dress. "Don't worry about it. I have worn this only a few times. Blue suits me better." Sally gently pushed a wet curl behind a pink ear. "Are you sure?" BonBon asked, examining the puffy pink fabric. Sally smiled softly, "A pretty lady like you deserves the best, plus I don't think you're current dress will make it much longer." The cake like dress heard it's cue, sending a large chunk of cake to the floor. BonBon's face flushed in embarrassment. "Fine! I'll put it on!" She growled, ripping at her jelly like gloves. Sally turned away in respect, but turned back when she heard the other grunt. "You alright Sugar?" She asked before she quickly covered her face. Her cheeks grew hot after seeing the suggestive pose Bon was stuck in. Her candy cane like tights and bodice seemed to have stuck to her skin with most of the color faded to a clear white. "Sally Stageplay... I know how this looks, but I think I'm going to need some help." Bon covered her chest with an arm and closed her legs shut. Sally took a beep breath and prepared herself for the role. "Alright, where should I start?" She asked, keeping her eyes on anything other then the exposed pink skin. "M...maybe my mid section? If you can start pulling the top up I can finish the rest." Her bright green eyes looked over Sally's determined face as the blond stared to role the candy slowly up Bon's stomach. She was careful not to pull on any skin. When the chest was reached, Bon went to pull it over her head. Sally stopped her, "Hey, It might get stuck in your hair. Maybe I can cut it!" She ran over to what looked to be a sewing kit, and pulled out a pair of scissors. She placed it over the candy that clung to Bon's back. "Ready?" She asked gripping the handle. The other nodded. Sally tried, but the candy was still too tough. She came up with another idea... but she wasn't sure if BonBon would agree to the tactic.
Sally didn't care much for candy. She really preferred a healthier option, but this candy wasn't going to give easily. "Sorry my Dear, please don't come to hate me too much." Sally pleaded. BonBon was going to question, but was startled when she felt warm breath on her skin. She felt a shiver run up her spine as the candy snapped. Sally wiped off her lips with a huff. "There, you should be able to get it off now." Sally looked down at the tight candy clinging to the noble's legs. "I... Um... don't mind helping... but do you think you can get the rest?" She stuttered, looking away with embarrassment.
Bon could hardly speak. Her entire face was now a shade brighter as she gently pulled the rest of the candy off her chest. "Yes! I mean... I can! Definitely!! Just give me a moment!" She sounded panicked as she grabbed the candy stuck to her waistline. It took her a moment to calm herself, but was given enough time by the actress. Sally looked away respectfully, trying to soothe Bon with stories and music. It worked for the most part. As soon as BonBon was able to pull off the remaining bits of candy, she slipped the nice clean dress over her head. "Miss Stageplay, I'm done." She called. "Please, call me Sally." The actress turned and was immediately stunned. The baroness let her hair curl around her shoulders casually, and the dress allowed her thin legs to show off. "You look gorgeous! I knew it would suit you." Sally checked out the lady's new look, making the other shyly look away. "Thank you Sally. I appreciate your assistance." The actress stepped forward with a smile. "It was my pleasure. I'm not one to eat a lot of candy, but you tasted alright." She winked, sending electric pulses down the pink one's body. Bon turned and began to stiffly walk out from behind the curtain. "I should probably go! I've taken too much of your time as it is." Bon grabbed her cloak and hurried herself. Sally on the other hand wasn't as eager for her to leave. "Lady Bon Bon, please stay. You'll get drenched if you go outside."
"I'm running out of time! I need to leave so I can see you again!" Bon busted out without thinking. She really liked Sally and she knew it couldn't be hidden for long. "You really mean that?" Sally hopped forward and grabbed the fleeing princess's hand. Bon quickly turned, with the free hand rested on her own cheek. The two looked into each other's eyes and sighed in unison, as well as a giggle. "Of course I do. You've been so sweet and caring, I wouldn't want to spend the rest of my time with anyone else." Bon said glancing at her watch. It had almost reached the 4 hours mark. Now she really felt rushed. Sally noticed the worry on Bon's face and wanted to comfort her, "Then let's get you home. Let me grab my umbrella."
The two women walked side by side with a bright orange umbrella looming above. The two had been silent sense they left the theater. Nether one could compose themselves in the other's company. Heartbeats played wild rhythms as they stepped along the path to the train tracks. Bon motioned Sally to a tree, and when they reached it Bon leaned forward. She wrapped her arms around the other's neck. Sally couldn't help but wrap an arm around Bon's waist. The two hugged it out for a few moments. "You live in a tree?" Sally asked in confusion, still holding the noble tightly. "Don't be silly, Its beyond the tree. Want to see?" Bon gently released her acquaintance. The two parted and Bon slowly walked into the trunk, leaving Sally speechless. She looked around and shrugged. "Why not?" She convinced herself to follow.
"Oh my..." Sally gasped at the bright sight of Sugar Land. The air tasted sweet, and the ground was soft under her blue dress shoes. "Welcome to Sugar Land! You're always welcome so don't be shy. Also I have two rules: Rule number one, don't tell anyone about Sugar Land; rule number two, don't eat my candy Castle. That's it! If you do brake a rule I can be lenient, but only for you." Bon seemed hyper as words continued to leave her mouth. Her green eyes sparkled as she took Sally's hands into her own. "Alright then? Are you alright Sugar?" Sally smirked, before twirling the pink ball of energy. The umbrella was left behind as the two began to dance among the sweet treats.
BonBon began to loose her rhythm and lazily fell into Sally's arms. Luckily Sally was able to catch her, but stumbled a bit by the sudden change of energy. "Bon are you alright?" She asked with concern. The noble lifted her head slowly to reveal bags under her pale yellow eyes. "Ya... I didn't sleep much at all last night. I took a nap on the beach, but I don't think it helped." She yawned sleepily as she leaned into the embrace. The warmth of Sally's body was so comforting, the most comfortable feeling Bon had ever felt. Safe, and almost loving. The actress used her hand to lift Bon's chin back up. "You said something about a castle, it that your house?" She asked sweetly, analyzing Bon's new eye color. The noble nodded in response. She squeaked when Sally scooped her up. Sally carried her princess style, asking occasionally what direction to take.
When they reached the pink castle Bon was already sound asleep. Sally walked up to the gate, and was startled when two large eyes looked down at her. "Hello there. I've come to bring the baroness home." She explained. The castle didn't seem to have understood the situation and growled fiercely at the young woman. Sally took a step back and Bon's eyes shot open. She tapped Sally's shoulder, silently asking to be put down. When she was placed on the ground she placed a hand on her hip and the other pointed at the angry building. "Calm down this instant! She is my guest and you will treat her kindly!" She ordered, making the castle shake and open it's gate. "Good boy. Sorry about that. He's protective of me." Bon smiled softly to Sally and gestured her inside.
The inside was decorated with candy. From the wall attire to the furniture. Sally chuckled, "Don't you get tired of candy?"
"Of course I do, but it can't be helped. I'm under an ancient curse that keeps me here, but I don't feel like talking about it right now." Bon sat down in her chair, and took off her pink candy shoes.
"I see, but you were outside. Did you brake your curse?" Sally took a seat on the sofa nearby.
"No... I was giving 24 hours of freedom from a friend. I've used a little over 4 today... but I think it was worth it." Bon blushed as she eyed her blue companion.
"Only 24? Well you should use two of those hours to see my next show. I would be honored to have you there." Sally leaned forward with pleading eyes, making Bon's heart skip a beat. "Yes, of course! I'd love to." She answered happily. Bon crossed her legs and leaned back, but it wasn't as comfortable as she remembered. Sally looked around curiously, "So, how was your morning?" Bon straightened herself before talking, "Well, it was fine up until it started raining. I walked around town and visited the beach. I had sand stuck to me for awhile." Sally couldn't help but chuckle, "Oh? Good thing it wasn't on you back." A light blush spread across both ladies's cheeks, as the moment was still fresh in their memories. "Thanks for helping me. You didn't have to." Bon started, standing up and shifting over to sit next to her guest. "It was my pleasure, I couldn't leave you a damsel in distress."
Bon moved closer, leaning in slowly. She noticed The other feeling uncomfortable so she backed away. Sally wasn't against it but her heart was pounding so loud she didn't want Bon to notice. "You have a lovely home Sugar, but I should be getting back." Sally chuckled nervously. "Alright... oh wait give me a moment." Bon got up and ran into another room. She came back with a red candy shaped like a dog. "How cute!" Sally chimed as she scratched his chin. "His name is Scraps. He can clean up my mess of a dress I left behind. Just tell him to go home when you're satisfied." Bon placed the dog on the floor, "Follow Sally and help her clean up the theatre alright? You would be doing me a huge favor my friend." She scratched his back and in response he spun and barked happily. "Thank you again for today. This has been a wonderful morning." Bon walked towards Sally and gently took her hands in hers. "Come visit me anytime." She added, before sweetly placing a kiss on the actress's cheek. Blond curls puffed up in their ponytails and eyelashes fluttered when the electric pulse of pleasure ran through Sally's nervous system. "I can't wait Sugar~" Sally purred softly.
