Author's Note: The orange Inkling's name is Marmalade, mostly because I am downright sick and tired of just referring to her as "Inkling." Y'know what? Characters with names such as "Villager," "Pokemon Trainer," and "Wii Fit Trainer" will have names, I guess. Also, this is my first overall actual work that isn't too short, so I guess you could say this has a plot now...

This was inspired by a story I read on InkBunny/AO3 titled Dreams of a Beautiful Blue. Please give it a read sometime soon.

Marmalade woke up to the sudden flash of amber and gold inside of her closed eyes, the light of the morning sun shining brightly behind the curtains of her bedroom inside the Ultimate pod. The little Inkling ruffled her slimy tentacle-like hair with only her hands as she had risen out of her blankets and settled her own two feet down on the cold, wooden floor, causing her to flinch slightly in response.

Marmalade stretched her arms and yawned, exposing her shiny white teeth to the dusk scarlet colored scenery of the room. Regaining her vision from her morning stretches, the orange Inkling looked around her at the walls, the massive collage of paintings surrounding her with the images of innocent little ducklings, butterflies, and kittens. Casting a loving smile on her beautiful pale face, Marmalade rose up from her perch on the bed, walked up to her mirror, and was met with the pleasant reflection of her young body in a frilly white nightgown, giving her the innocent appearance of a doll of some sorts.

Brushing the bottom of the nightgown's skirt, Marmalade was quick to slip it off with one hand, ran to her closet, and changed into her common Inkling clothes consisting of a white T-shirt and black shorts with white streaks on the sides. As she exited her bedroom in tune to the other Ultimate Fighters, the orange colored Inkling was met with the somewhat delightful smell of breakfast being cooked by none other than the Sm4sh Fighters doing their usual morning routine again.

'Good to know it's always the professionals that do their job well around here,' Marmalade thought positively as she took the stairs down to the dining hall and was met with the pleasant image of every fighter from the 64 era to Ultimate sitting at their respective tables, either talking away or joking around and laughing. On her way to her own table, her chair seated beside Ridley to the left, Marmalade had realized that the two chairs that were beside King K. Rool's left were... empty.

This was odd for an entire group of newcomers to come face to face with as they usually had someone sitting at their table, filling their seats to the brim with people. The orange Inkling, turning her head in different directions, turned to the reptilian space pirate and asked, "w-where's Simon and Richter? Are they still sleeping in?"

"Mario is about to give an announcement!" Isabelle replied, her voice low and quiet, "we have to listen."

The dining hall fell silent once more as the only sounds that could be heard were the Wireframe and Fighting Alloy butlers handing each Fighter their breakfast plates and with the Sm4sh Fighters serving them one by one on each row. Meanwhile with the Smash Veterans, they were hesitant on something, as Marmalade could already see, but about what?

Marmalade noticed Mario wiping his forehead with a spare napkin as well as Fox and Pikachu comforting each other and Luigi taking deep breaths, which made the Inkling suspicious like never before. Her pointy ears twitching slightly, she realized that something had been off for the past couple of weeks; the two chairs that were empty and the Smash Veterans acting unusual in the morning. Because of this sudden change in emotional pressure, Marmalade had felt a slight twinge in her brain as she let out a startled yelp and placed both of her hands down onto the sides of her head, shaking it mildly.

Ridey, taking notice of his friend acting out, turned to her and asked, "is everything okay, Marm?"

"O-Oh, yeah!" She replied, "I just had a small migraine, that's all."

Her head clearing up a bit, the orange Inkling looked up to see the Veterans finishing off on comforting each other before they started to stand up, but Mario gave them a simple wave of his hand to make them sit back down, but left the red plumber standing in his fullest height, his eyebrows furrowed into a sad expression. He surveyed the entire dining hall around him, his mind already drifting into another depressing part of its deepest corners. All he could do was wait and watch for the right moment to make the announcement as each and every group of the Smash House enjoyed themselves blissfully, unaware of the incoming harsh announcement their leaders had for them instead this morning.

The Smash Veterans, however, were watching Mario from below their seats as he stopped in place, his chest heaving in and out in complete fear of what the results of his words may be; he would be met with the horrid reactions of his housemates crying and all bursting into a cacophony of tears or they would express outright anger and genuine hatred towards the creators of their world, but he knew deep down that no choice had been given to this event.

Marmalade was still frozen in her seat as she kept her gaze close onto Mario, watching his every move whenever she could. The dining hall had almost died down to a silent hush as Fox was seen handing a small piece of orange hard candy to his red friend and watched as he popped it into his mouth and sucked on it reluctantly. Before long, Mario lifted up an empty glass cup, took a spoon, and clanked it against the rim of the cup, alerting the attention of the entire house.

The Brawlers, Sm4sh and Ultimate fighters all turned their attention towards the Veteran as he sighed deeply and gulped a vicious knot down his throat. Without a second thought Mario had begun his announcement.

"It has come to our attention today that there are rumors that have been going around about two specific fighters from the Ultimate house," he declared, pointing a single finger at the two chairs that Marmalade and Ridley were seated beside. Everyone else casted their glances at the empty chairs, their stares blank.

"I'm here to put those rumors to rest... They are true."

The entire crowd fell into a chorus of gasps, their eyes widening at this sudden news.

"It comes with great condolences to inform you all that two fighters, answering to the names Simon and Richter Belmont, did not make it in their first round. Unfortunately, during their Classic Route, there was an accident that happened where they were killed by unknown circumstances. We were previously forbidden from disclosing this information to any of you to avoid starting a panic, but it was a tough decision to make. It wasn't our choice, but it's looks as though... we never had one."

Marmalade felt her entire body freeze up like ice at the touch of those words. Unlike most of her housemates, who were showing signs of remorse and expressing their guilt, Marmalade showed other signs. This was merely different from any form of sadness or grief that any person could experience; it was genuine heartbreak. That was what the little orange Inkling could feel. She had always loved the vampire hunters in many ways she could never fathom, but Simon was by far her favorite.

Getting up from her chair, Marmalade dashed off to the Belmonts' bedroom and slammed the door open, only to find that the room was completely empty. Her face in total shock and gasping for air, the Inkling girl was close to breaking down and crying as she hiccuped short sounding sniffles and wiped at her blurry eyes, sliding down onto the walls of the hallway and letting her cries echo throughout.

Marmalade let out a short garbled sound as she shot up from her bed and squeaked a little, her eyes widened in shock and sweat beading down from her forehead. Waking up, she was met with the friendly glow of the shining moon outside of her window as she looked around her dimly lit bedroom. After a long time of standing still in her own bed, the Inkling girl could feel herself being moved to tears at the sudden images of her nightmare. Tears successfully welling up in her beautiful blue eyes, Marmalade sniffled a little as she wiped at her face with the sleeve of her white nightgown.

Her nightmare was but a mortifying scenario regarding the Belmonts during their Classic Route, wherein they had suffered and succumbed to a tragic, yet unknown accident during a battle. As a result, Marmalade let out more garbled sobbing as she had risen out of her bed and walked out into the dark hallways, travelling to Simon's bedroom in hopes of feeling better, or at least checking to see if he was still alive. Stopping dead in her tracks in front of the door, she held out her hand to reach for the knob, but reluctantly pulled it back.

'M-Maybe he's still alive,' she thought, her mind still hazy, 'he's just a little tired, that's all.'

Thinking for a short period of time, Marmalade opened the door to find, much to her relief, Simon Belmont still in his bed and sleeping away. She sighed deeply to find him there, but at the same time, wanted to go over to his resting body and cuddle up next to him. Both him and his descendant Richter were much heavy sleepers, meaning they harbored no reaction to Marmalade opening their door. Her face already covered and eyes blurred with dried up tears, Marmalade slowly stalked up to where Simon slept, lifted up his blanket, and proceeded to bury herself inside. She was comforted by the fact that the real Simon Belmont was still alive well and kicking as she allowed her back to rub up against his muscular bare midriff, sparking new feelings inside her eyes.

Simon's toned physique was something to take note of as the little Inkling girl almost felt herself slipping away at the warm touch of the Vampire hunter's body, causing her entire face to turn red and blush. Simon was dressed in nothing but boxer shorts, meaning Marmalade was already in for what her fantasy had foretold. Jolting slightly as if out of nowhere, Marmalade felt something behind her poke at the skirt of her nightgown, making her turn her head to check what this object might be. Much to her surprise, she could almost sense that Simon had subconsciously reacted to the Inkling girl's touch, which made his member hard and erect, while also emitting a soft, low growl underneath his breath.

Meanwhile, Marmalade stopped as she came to a sudden realization about her current predicament. She looked up at Simon's sleeping face and, with a twinge of some regret inside her, ceased her rubbing and let out a worried trill. Feeling other types of feelings arise inside of her, the Inkling girl gasped as, out of nowhere, a hand had slammed down onto her soft belly. Catching a quick glance, she came to soon realize that the Vampire hunter had woken up suddenly.

What started out as a simple grab now slowly turned into gentle rubbing and stroking of her belly, but his large hands soon came to go underneath Marmalade's nightgown and onto her flat chest where he playfully pinched and rubbed her small pink nipples.

"S-Simon," Marmalade murmured shyly as she let out short high pitched garbles, indicating her pleasure from the stroking. Simon let out short grunts as he was able to wake up slightly and casted a sly, yet loving, smirk at the little Inkling, his eyes giving her a warm vibe.

"Hello there, Marmalade," he whispered, his voice low and seductive, "I know you've been dreaming about me ever since you came into our bedroom."

Marmalade stopped again as those words struck, wondering how this Vampire hunter knew that she had a dream about him, which prompted her check-in with him to make sure he was safe, or at the very least, kept from harm's way of an unknown accident. She was very hesitant of this before, but she always knew how much she loved Simon with all her heart, even to the point where she seemingly had a crush on him. Everything she thought of was going to unfold before her very eyes, and she had her nightmare to thank for that.

Without hesitation or thought, Marmalade allowed Simon to continue his groping and pinching of her small breasts, as well as stripping her of her white nightgown and throwing it down on the ground. Simon lifted his blankets off the two of them, got up from his nook on the bed, and carried the little Inkling girl by her armpits, balancing her on his knee. Marmalade let out a small squeak as she sensed the muscular Vampire hunter remove his boxer shorts and reveal his erect cock, wherein he stuck it in-between her thighs.

Marmalade looked down at the throbbing member lodged between her legs where her untouched Inkling clam was and allowed herself to fall in love with her housemate's intoxicating charisma with this, but was more than surprised to check and notice that Richter is still asleep.

"I have been dreaming about this too, my dear," Simon cooed lovingly while he slowly and firmly rubbed his cock between the Inkling's thighs, groaning and gasping as he did so. Because of Marmalade's short stature and small size, Simon was successful in stimulating his member with the use of her body, but was careful enough as to not accidentally penetrate her. Marmalade herself was emitting soft gurgling noises and purring as an indication that she was happy with the thigh job she was giving the Vampire hunter, as well as trilling quietly.

With the heat emanating from both of their bare bodies, the moon still stayed young enough for the party of two to finally be hidden in the dead of night of their current session, but regardless they were thankful that Richter was unable to react while sleeping. As if a rush of adrenaline seethed inside of Simon's veins, he leaned his head down and gave Marmalade's neck a luxurious kiss, and then ended with a lick and a bite.

The little Inkling girl gasped as she felt something else grab at her body, only to soon realize that it was only Simon's hand that somehow found a comfortable spot back on her small breasts, making her squeak silently. The only thing that resulted in this situation was little Marmalade finding herself bouncing up and down on Simon's member as he was silently groping her. Marmalade gurgled once more before she let out a quick trill to warn the Vampire hunter about his near climax.

"S-Simon~!" She cooed, "y-you're close!"

"I know," Simon responded, his teeth clenched, "I'm this close... to unloading the seed all over your sweet, luscious body..."

"P-Please~! Don't hold baaack~!!"

The morning time had arrived when Marmalade shot up out of her bed and yelped a little, her eyes widening in shock, repeating the dream the night prior to her first ever nightmare. Breathing heavily, Marmalade looked around her and then turned to gaze at her clock. Picking it up and examining it, she sighed in relief to the numbers shown in its analog state.

7:30 AM. She managed to sleep well, bright and early. However, the only thing that had been keeping her in bed was the sudden shift in the feel of her blanket, which now felt damp as well as the inside of her nightgown. Marmalade took this time to look down and notice that there was a wet spot sprawled across the bed, which caused an itching sensation beneath her private parts. Slightly shivering a bit, the orange Inkling carefully pulled herself out of bed, rolled the bedsheets into a giant ball, and placed them in the corner of her bedroom while she went to her closet to change into her evening wear.

Dressing up similarly to the nightmare she had before, Marmalade tried her best to make sure that it actually was a nightmare and not the real thing. Amidst the silent murmurs of the other Ultimate fighters behind her door, Marmalade proceeded to clean herself up of the nightly mess she made unknowingly.

'Although, that dream with me and Simon is kinda magical to think about, anyway,' she thought innocently, her entire pale face turning into a deep red color at that sudden realization. Following the tune of her housemates leaving to the main lobby, Marmalade exited her bedroom and headed downstairs, trailing behind King K. Rool and Isabelle. That was until Marmalade remembered that this was exactly how her first dream had played out in this exact same way; the favorable scent of breakfast hovering heavily in the air, the constant chatter of the Smash House, but the Smash Veterans... they were behaving normally as usual.

Raising an eyebrow at this sudden change in scenery, Marmalade slowly padded up to the buffet line and was able to ask Rosalina about the Belmonts.

"Hey, do you know if anyone did their Classic Routes yesterday?" The Inkling asked, her voice low.

"Well, there was myself and Bowser Jr. who were doing it, but other than that, no one else came after us," Rosalina answered as she placed breakfast onto Marmalade's tray and dismissed her. Carrying her food to the Ultimate table and sitting down, she tried her best to calculate the exact time the Belmonts had been absent from the dining hall, which meant she had to constantly gaze at the two empty chairs seated beside her and Ridley.

'Oh no. Please don't tell me they're actually-'

"It's about time you two woke up!" She heard Mario's voice say from far away at the Veteran's table, catching her attention and proving her assumptions wrong. A sense of joy rising inside her heart, Marmalade was at least relieved to know that both Simon and Richter were still alive, but she kept her eyes fixed on Simon only.

"Yeah, it was difficult to get this old geezer out of bed," Richter replied as he playfully nudged his ancestor's shoulder.

"Hmph. I was undergoing a lovely dream sequence with me and a sweetheart," Simon explained as he turned to face Marmalade's direction, causing her to reluctantly break eye contact. Looking down at her plate of half eaten french toast, Marmalade waited until the Belmonts walked to the table and sat down, but not until they had gotten their fill of food yet. She silently watched as they headed to the buffet line and were served by the Sm4sh Fighters.

Marmalade continued looking down at her plate, but was silently overjoyed at the Belmonts for being alive and well as they sat down and carried their conversation onwards.

"Morning, brethren!" Simon exclaimed happily as he waved at the other Ultimate fighters, following with them waving and sharing greetings.

"Greatest of mornings, Marmalade," the Vampire hunter cooed lovingly as he sat down and kissed the Inkling on the cheek, causing her to blush. Marmalade was quick enough to look away from Simon and wear away her sudden burst of feelings, but what she was unaware of was the sudden change in pressure from that dream she had earlier that night. She shifted her attention to Simon and Richter as they were chatting and eating breakfast, hoping to shake off these newfound feelings.

'Oh man... Don't tell me Simon was dreaming of me too...'
