Hiii y'all, thanks for taking time to read this story. My other story will be on hiatus for some time, because I hate forcing myself to write something I don't want to. Again, find me on discord server Emerald Library, where I am most active in. The link is in my profile, so make sure to check that out. Special thanks to those I sprinted with in the server. Enjoy~
"Now, let's eat, and you can tell us who or what is trying to kill you this time." --Sally Jackson
As she walked to the grocery store for more raw materials, Sally Jackson got surprised. She wasn't usually surprised by odd events. She wasn't surprised when her son was attacked by the minotaur, she wasn't surprised when she got taken, and she wasn't surprised when she awoke to find Manhattan under attack from the Titans. But imagine her surprise when a teenager, about 15 years old, ran over to her, clearly excited.
"Ms. Jackson? Ms. Jackson? Hi you're Sally Jackson, the author of the novel Rubies and Roses, right?" She told her, a bit out of breath. Sally nodded, hesitant.
"Yes I am. How can I help you?" She inquired politely. The teen gave her a shocked look.
"Do you know how famous you are among my school? Your story, it changed my life. I was depressed a year ago, because of my parents' neglect. I almost ended my life," her voice dropped down to a whisper. "But my best friend, she was so worried for me. She bought me Rubies and Roses, and made me read it. And I absolutely loved it. I was able to emphasize with Julia, and the story became my savior." By then, Sally was gawking. She knew that some people liked her book, but this? If you told her her book was life-changing and saved lives before her encounter with this girl, she would have stared at you bewilderedly.
"Your book was amazing. Do you mind if you signed my copy and took a picture with me?" She asked shyly. Sally straightened up, and nodded, giving the girl her best smile.
"Of course dear. And I am so glad the book helped you," she told her as she signed the hardcover copy of the girl.
"My name is Lisa, and I am so so so grateful for your book. It has helped me realize the beauty of the the world we live in. And because of it, I'm starting to write my own short stories," said Lisa, beaming at Sally. She whipped out her phone, and took a selfie with her.
"Thanks so much Ms. Jackson! You don't know how happy this makes me." Sally gave her a warm smile.
"It's alright. I included my email in the signature, so feel free to talk to me and send me your short stories if you want someone to look them over." The girl gave a squeal at this, and nodded vigorously.
"Thank you! I have to go now, so goodbye!" And the girl ran off from where she came from, leaving Sally in her own thoughts.
Well that was interesting, she thought to herself as she made her way over to the store. But it's great to see that my book helped others.
She hummed happily as she picked out the things she needed, and payed for them. She walked back home, thinking of ideas for a new novel, inspired by the girl. Little did she know, that after that book, she would become famous across the globe, helping people in the form of words.
Thanks so much for reading! Feedback is appreciated.
