Chapter 1: Promotions and Broken Heels

In a society whose population mostly consists of super powered individuals, these superpowers are called quirks and those who use them for the sake of justice are called heroes. The reason for this tirade is because today was the day that a young hero in training would be receiving the honor of the title of sidekick giving them the authority to work alongside a pro hero while receiving pay and benefits of getting a headstart towards becoming a pro hero.

However this isn't to say that these types of opportunities fall into the laps of just any student without some kind of catch, this was exactly what our hero in training was going to learn as one of his many lessons along the way to this promotion.

To quote in classic hero fashion, with great power comes great responsibility.

Here's hoping that he'll understand that point by the end of this.

A huff was heard as an ash-blonde haired boy walked down the corridor toward the office of the principal of the esteemed hero school, in his hand was a silver briefcase inside of it were the precious documents that would finally liberate him the ranks of just being another hero in training to a huge step closer to a full fledged pro.

The boy certainly wasn't excited about the label of sidekick but you get in where you fit in and make the most of your situation, knowing himself he knew that he wasn't going to be stuck as a sidekick for long especially with how strong he was.

His red eyes narrowed as the smirk on his face grew at the thought, he was just beginning his 2nd year and he was already at this level. A certain green haired boy would have to step up his game by a lot to even compare to him at this current point, he had to stifle his chuckle at the thought of his childhood rival not being promoted yet.

The boy finally made it to the doors of the office right on time, he wanted to come earlier but the thought of waiting for any amount of time before getting his sidekick registration would have been akin to hell itself.

So here he was ready to take his destiny head on.

The blonde swung the doors open revealing a small white animal with a small scar over his eye in a nice suit vest and slacks to match, also in the room was tried looking man trying to stifle a yawn holding his hand over his mouth using his other one to rub at the eye patch on his left eye.

The man's name was Shouta Aizawa he is also known as the pro hero Eraserhead, while the principal himself was Nezu no known last name but had a tendency to be mysterious. Nezu smiled widely watching the young man enter the room, while Aizawa looked at the boy with slight amusement while the boy looked directly at the principal.

"Ah, I almost thought you were going to be late. I was almost surprised, however we were expecting you nonetheless. Do you have all of your documentation?"

Nezu asked while the young man rolled his eyes, "Got everything right here, can we get on with this? I want to get to work as soon as possible." The boy said impatiently while Aizawa turned his head away stifling a laugh while Nezu never broke eye contact giving a smile.

"I can imagine, trust me you'll have plenty to do once we get done here. Bring your documents here, I promise this will be quick."

Nezu said as Katsuki obliged, setting his briefcase on the desk of the principal who opened it before he started taking a look at each document. The boy looked at the principal trying to hold back his excitement watching every head nod and smile coming from the individual in front of him.

"Katsuki Bakugo, aged 16, Quirk Explosion, one of the top three in his class quickly approaching one of the Big Three status, as well as your multiple achievements in our most recent conflict against Shigaraki. You have an excellent resume and we as teachers are proud to properly award you for your efforts as you continue to grow in our curriculum."
Nezu said while Katsuki looked at the principal who pulled out a form and a pen setting it in front of where the boy was standing, "Now if you'll quickly read over the document going over important information for the next steps you-" Nezu was cut off by Katsuki skimming the page before signing it at the bottom with his signature.

"I get it, it's just the typical safety bullshit as well as any info that's needed for actually being a sidekick. Nothing I don't already know so let's get on with it."

Katsuki said while Nezu nodded his head gracefully before pulling out a card, "As expected from you, you never were one for ceremony looking back on the Sports Festival." Nezu said while passing Katsuki the card, the blonde took the card quickly, cheering in his head.

This was it, it was his moment. He finally would be taking his step away from the extras and into the world of the pros where he would leave them all in his dust as well while he reached the very top the the ranks.

Nezu smiled gently while Aizawa struggled to keep his composure, "You ever heard of actually reading a document before signing it Bakugo?" Aizawa said while Katsuki gave the older man a glare. "It's just the same nonsense as always so why bother wasting any time whatsoever going over any information I already know." Katsuki growled while Aizawa shook his head before pointing at the card.

The blonde raised an eyebrow before looking at the card he currently had in his hand before his eyes widened, "Wait…" Katsuki said while inspecting the card. Instead of sidekick it read Temporary Hero Activity causing Katsuki to look back up toward the principal with a surprised look on his face.

"We actually have a holomessage from Best Jeanist regarding your current situation so before you explode let's watch that together shall we?"

Nezu said while Katsuki kept gaping at the card in his head before he looked up toward the whine of the holo message starting up revealing the image of a tall blonde man clad in denim looking directly at the blonde boy.

"Katsuki Bakugo, first let me start off my message today with congratulations. Like I promised I am more than ready to begin working with you to become my sidekick to help shape you into the best hero you can be. However before we start the working process there is something else we have to address."

Best Jeanist said over the holomessage as Katsuki kept looking at the message in utter surprise while the taller blonde man continued, "What exactly does it mean to be a hero? I once asked you this question and you answered with defeating villains and being the best, you're still young so I figured with time you'd figure out your own answer to this question. Even after all of this time it still appears that you don't understand it as much as I thought you would have so as the hero you'll be working with I'm going to give you a chance to help yourself learn." Best Jeanist explained while Katsuki kept his eyes on the message.

"You'll be performing the duty of HHS, this stands for Hero Help Specialist. With this role you'll be in charge assisting your fellow heroes in training with their multiple issues as well as other pros if they need any assistance as well no matter how big or small their problem. The license you were given gives you specific rights to perform actions of a pro hero this way when other pros call for assistance they'll have little to no issues worrying about the logistics of having a student helping them. You'll be helping students and other pros alike with anything they need throughout the rest of your school year as a 2nd year with your minimum quota of services being at least 50 requests handled properly."

Best Jeanist continued to explain while Katsuki's face molded into one of disbelief and horror while Best Jeanist smiled with his eyes, "I genuinely hope that through these experiences that you'll grow to learn more about what it means to be a hero, I have high hopes for you and I'm looking forward to working with you by the time all is said in done. I'll be checking in soon, take care Bakugo." Best Jeanist said while the Holomessage cut off leaving the boy still in a state of shock while Aizawa finally cracked chuckling at the face of the boy.

"There you have it, from now until the end of your 2nd year or until all 50 requests are completed you'll be assistant staff here at U. A. I'll have the key to your new office sent to you during your lunch break. I look forward to working with you Mr. Bakugo."

Nezu said with an amused look on his face while Aizawa regained a little of his composure as well bowing toward Katsuki, "I look forward to working with you as well, Mr. Bakugo." Aizawa said while Katsuki continued to look at the card before a small growl almost a whimper escaping his throat as he looked toward the ceiling.

"FUCK!"

{...}{...}{...}

This shit couldn't have been real.

Katsuki looked around his new office that was once the office of All Might, the brown desk was in front of the front wall that had a classic blackboard on it. The room was mostly white with a large window on the left wall revealing a beautiful view of the rest of the school area from that angle as well as the view of the city in the distance, there was a coffee table that had a coffee maker on it supplied with cups, an office warming gift from the principal himself.

Katsuki dropped his bag by his new desk, before plopping in his chair letting out a groan before glaring at the back wall. He was supposed to be a sidekick going out into the streets kicking ass and forgetting names so how in the blue fucking hell did he end up a Help Specialist?!

"What does it mean to be a hero my fucking ass, you just wanted me to look like a goddamn idiot didn't you? Damn old man. I should've let you turn to dust back when we were fighting that fuckass Shigaraki!"

Katsuki growled while slamming his head against the wood of the desk before feeling a pang in his chest, he remembered All Might's last smile that he gave on that day before looking at the desk somberly using his hand to rub at the place he just slammed his head.

"Whatever, it's just 50 requests right? I'll just get all 50 dumbass requests done and then I'll be back out on the streets in no time."

Katsuki reassured himself, if he was going to be stuck in this shitty situation then the least he could do is look on the bright side, push comes to shove they were all high schoolers. It's not like any of the situations were going to be super complicated, at least nothing that he couldn't handle. Another huge plus was, now that he had his own space he didn't have to worry about any of the extras bothering him during class.

Katsuki went to sigh but the sound of knocking broke him out of his fragile peace before the door swung open revealing a small group of students, "Yo, Kacchan!" the bright blonde haired boy yelled out while Katsuki slammed his head back down on his desk.

'Fuck you universe and the dipshit writing it too.'

Katsuki thought to himself as the self named Bakusquad entered into his new office, Denki Kaminari, Eijirou Kirishima, Kyoka Jirou, Hanta Sero, and Mina Ashido entered the room with varying levels of gusto while Sero around the room.

"Woah, nice digs!"

Sero exclaimed while Kyoka instantly found her way to the couch in front of the coffee table making herself comfortable on it's softness, "Nice place indeed." Kyoka said in a relaxed manner while Kirisihima walked up to the blond boy at his desk.

"Bakubro, congrats on the position man! I think that it's super manly that you'll be helping out those in need. It's like you're already a pro!"

Kirishima said while Kaminari shook his head, "It's not Sidekick but it still sounds pretty cool to be able to have this kind of job." Kaminari said with a nod while Mina shook her head in agreement, "I agree! Best part is that now Bakubro here will have to help us out with whatever we want whenever we request it." Mina said in a teasing tone while Kaminari grinned mischievously.

"Oh yeah that's right…"

Kaminari said while rubbing his hands together while Katsuki growled at the boy, "Fucking try it Dunce Face, I'll shove my foot so far up your ass that everything you sneeze you'll tie my boot!" Katsuki yelled as Kaminari sweatdropped at the boy.

"Easy Bakubro, I'm sure that no one here is going to request anything weird… maybe."

Kirishima tried to reassure Katsuki only to receive a groan as an answer from the boy, "I've got a small gig coming up in the park near the school. I could always use a drummer."

Kyoka said almost teasingly while Katsuki rolled his eyes, "Oh! I could totally use a dance partner! I have a few moves I've been practicing and with your physique you'd be perfect!" Mina gushed while Katauki narrowed his eyes at her.

"I ain't fucking arm candy Raccoon Eyes!"

Katsuki shot back while Sero rubbed his chin, "You know, now that I think about it. It's pretty awesome that you of all people got this job. You're stupidly good at a crap ton of things despite your attitude I'm sure that some people could actually benefit from your help." Sero said while Katsuki quirked an eyebrow toward the black haired boy as Kaminari started laughing loudly.

"I could totally use someone to do my homework for me!"

Kaminari exclaimed while laughing causing Katsuki to glare at the boy before grabbing him by the collar, "If you ain't here to put in a legit request then fuck off, unfortunately I have better things to be doing." Katsuki said while letting go of the blonde haired boy's collar.

"Sure, I'll take any forms you got and I'll fill one out."

Kyoka said while Kirishima lifted a finger while smiling, "Yeah, I'll take one too!" Kirishima said as Kaminari nodded his head rapidly. "Count me in." the blonde said while Katsuki pulled out the forms from his desk.

"I better not see any dumbass requests."

Katsuki warned while Mina rolled her eyes while grinning, "What are you going to do, reject them?" Mina teased while Katsuki growled, "I'll fucking bury you out back that's what I'll do!" Katsuki yelled while Kirishima waved his hands.

"Relax bro, I'm sure our requests are going to be legit, no need to worry about it."

Kirishima said while Katsuki gave the boy a look, "Who said I was worried, Shitty Hair?" Katsuki growled while the red haired boy sweatdropped.

"After all this time… You know we still have the same kind of haircut right?"

Kirishima asked while Katsuki's eyes rolled to the back of his head while seething, "I'll get a haircut just because you said that!" Katsuki yelled while Kyoka and Kaminari looked at each other while sweat dropping.

"So petty…"

They both said at the same time while Kirishima merely laughed at the boy before throwing an arm over his shoulder using his other hand to rub his own red hair, "You know, you may be onto something bro. We totally should get haircuts! Let me know when you want to do that and I'll get one too!" Kirishima exclaimed excitedly while Katsuki continued growling. He was about to yell but the sound of the bell grabbed the attention of all of the students.

"That's the bell, we gotta scramble but we'll be seeing you in class later right?"

Sero asked while Katsuki just huffed in response, "Cool see ya there!" Sero said while he began exiting the room followed by the rest, "Don't worry I'll keep your seat warm." Kyoka said with a smirk before leaving while Katsuki plopped back in his seat.

If there was a hell he was certainly in it, these fifty requests better come quickly or he's not going to be able to make it to the end of this in one piece or anyone else for that matter. Katsuki rubbed a hand on his face before looking back down at his desk.

"Shit."

{...}{...}{...}

Momo Yaoyoruzu was the pinnacle of what the average person would call brillant.

The young woman had been a stellar example of a hero in training, the top of her class in academics with a quirk that some consider extremely overpowered that was only able to be utilized because of the high intelligence of the young woman. She practiced grace in all of her actions while having a stunning determination, her leadership skills were also those she had been known for to the point where she even led her own unit during the conflict.

And despite all of these things, she was currently a nervous wreck.

The black haired young woman spaced out in her seat while the rest of her class bustled around her in activity, while a part of her was glad that they managed to find some normalcy in this recovery period another part of her found it a little overwhelming while she tried to get her own thoughts together regarding her issue.

"Yaoyorozu."

A voice said, snapping her out of her thoughts causing the young woman to look up toward a boy with heterochromia paired with red and white hair split evenly down the middle a scar over his left eye as he gave the girl a curious look.

"Oh, Todoroki. My apologies, I was just thinking about some things."

The young woman said while the boy nodded, taking a seat at his desk next to hers, "Penny for your thoughts… or that's at least how I think that goes." Shoto Todoroki said while Momo smiled at her friend's slowly but surely improving social skills.

"Well, it's just that, my family is going to be hosting an event tonight in preparation for our golden week festivities company wide. This is acting as a sort of preliminary event announcing the changes being made as well as any updates…"

Momo trailed off realizing she had begun to over explain while Shoto nodded his head at the girl, "I see, that's exciting. I'm not the biggest fan of my own family's type of events but I can kind of relate to the jitters that come with it." Shoto said, trying to reassure the girl who gave him a sheepish look.

"Well… The event itself is fine and all that's definitely not the issue I'm having. My big issue with the event in the first place is that my parents personally elected me to give the opening speech to start the event off."

Momo said while Shoto nodded his head again, "That's… rough." Shoto said while Momo gave the boy a worried look, "I know it's not a big deal but I still worry that I'm going to find some kind of way to screw it up." Momo said while Shoto sighed before giving the girl a look.

"Yaoyorozu, I've known you for some time now so I'm pretty sure I can say this confidently. You won't screw up, working under pressure is something you've been excelling at recently. You can't let some family event break you down even a little, you're going to be fine."

Shoto reassured allowing the girl to relax a little as she took a breath. The boy was right, something like this shouldn't get her so worked up. Something like a brief opening speech was nothing compared to the things she's seen throughout her time as a hero in training so she just had to be fine…

Right?

Being a hero in training is one thing but her family's business was a whole other matter, she was going to be in front of multiple leaders of other businesses as well as their families. She was going to be standing in front of all of them alone representing her family, the very thought made her shiver. She began to feel sick to her stomach slightly thinking about all of their stares while she fumbled with her words on stage.

What if…

Those two words were currently haunting the girl as she took in breaths trying to relax her racing mind to no avail while she was listening to the voices of her classmates all around her the volume of their voices continued to rise while she continued trying to breathe.

"Yaoyorozu?"

Shoto asked while the girl stayed silent the voices of the class were getting louder and louder while they slowly became murmurs that her imagination was conjuring up of the other families and business heads talking about her, laughing at her fumbles and mistakes. It made her head hurt while she resisted the urge to pull at her hair, she was stressing out and it was apparent her breathing wasn't helping at all and a part of her wanted to say something to her peers about their conversation volume but she just couldn't bring herself to say anything to them.

It wasn't their fault after all.

That left Momo stuck however, she wanted to find some kind of alleviation for what she was feeling but there was nothing that she could do in that moment but bear it no matter how it made her feel it was only fair to everyone around her.

Still that made her feel small and even a little helpless.

Her thought process was suddenly broken by a door sliding closed to their classroom, snapping her out of her stupor as she looked up.

"Oi dumbfucks! Anybody ever tell y'all you're loud as shit!? Quiet down already, some people actually have a class to pay attention to!"

A yell from the blonde boy at the front of the classroom fully caught her attention while the rest of the class made comments about him yelling as usual much to the chagrin of the boy who was walking over to his seat.

Katsuki Bakugo, one of the many sources of inspiration for her own goals as well as being one of the biggest. His drive was unmatched when it came to dedicating himself to becoming number one to be the best that he could be, that was the type of energy that she wanted to have for herself.

Sterling gray met Crimson red as their eyes made contact, Momo stared at the boy for a moment while the boy stared back his expression was strange to her. It was almost unreadable in a sense, there were hints of different types of emotion but she couldn't pick up which ones he was displaying. All that she knew was that his eyes were telling her something.

The boy quickly looked away realizing he was staring before looking out of the window while Kyoka leaned over to talk to him from her seat, that was the moment Momo realized that it had gotten quiet, those voices had disappeared and her breathing was finally able to even out.

Momo looked at the boy curiously.

Did he know?

She was bothered by the noise clearly and the boy had quickly quieted them down the moment things started getting worse for her, it had to be coincidence Katsuki yelling at the class to be quiet was a common occurrence but the look in his eyes earlier said something different.

Was he trying to help her?

"Yaoyorozu are you ok?"

Shoto asked with slight concern while Momo looked at the boy giving him a calm smile, "Yes actually…. I'm fine, thank you for asking." Momo said while Shoto nodded his head toward her while Aizawa walked into the classroom while yawning.

"Good morning."

The man said tiredly as the class greeted the teacher back, it was about time for class to start and even for a few seconds.

Momo felt that everything was going to be fine.

{...}{...}{...}

In what one could call a twisted bit of fate everything was not fine.

Katsuki found himself in his office getting acclimated to his newly found paperwork for his new position as HHS and it was freaking awful, seriously an entire packet worth of crap just to tell him things that seemed pretty obvious from the get go.

Permissions, information about requests, what types of requests the boy could take, what counted toward what a request was and how to report them in. All of these pieces of paperwork all to tell him that he needed to help people and get signed off on it, the boy groaned as he looked at the 15th piece of signed paper.

Best Jeanist was fucking with him, he abosultely had to be.

The boy sighed in frustration before throwing down his pen standing up out of his chair.

He needed some air.

The boy had walked out of the school building and toward a random direction that ended up leading him into the city, the sight of how much was rebuilt always surprised the boy no matter how many times he saw it.

The amount of effort put in by the citizens and heroes of the city was always something he secretly admired, they had been through a lot since the destruction of half of the city. A lot of them lost their homes, a lot of them lost people that they loved or had connections with, and yet instead of conceding and lurking in the past they took the responsibility into their own hands and rebuilt for the future a future that heroes had to secure.

That made the blonde think as he kept moving through the streets listening to the laughing of civilians and the sounds of construction.

What exactly was it in him that made it hard for anyone to see him as a hero?

He knew what this paperwork and this job was about, he wasn't worthy. He was a ball of destruction and irresponsibility in the eyes of those around him, granted he wasn't the most pleasant to be around at times and he doesn't exactly have the best track record but still…

Being a hero was something he was serious about and at this rate he didn't stand a damn chance.

They want him to clean up his act and slowly create an image for himself that they can make profit as much as heroics has to do with just good acts. It has as much to do with images as well, Best Jeanist was crafting him into a 'perfect hero.' like he was some kind of pet project.

He hated it.

The blonde boy clenched his fist really hard while gritting his teeth with a glare on his face making his red eyes gleam while moving more into a stomp while moving forward.
He wasn't some shitty villain, he was Katsuki Bakugo the one who was going to take the spot of number one hero and best all of the originals and stand at the top. So why treat him as if he was some kind of threat as if he wasn't good enough as is, they chained him at the sports festival, he was teased and made fun of because of the slime villain, he also ended up being the one who…

The boy paused thinking about that moment in their conflict that he would still have dreams about.

"Why? Because I believe in you too, Young Bakugo."

All Might's voice called out inside of Katsuki's head before the boy felt a pang in his chest thinking back on the man's words.

It was the last thing that his hero had ever said to him.

Katsuki's glare faded as he came across a large statue that stood proudly in the middle of the new city center restored from the old one that had just barely made it through the first onslaught, Katsuki's eyes softened as he looked at the statue it was of the man that the city loved, the man the city called the symbol of peace.

All Might.

The man that Katsuki Bakugo managed to destroy twice.

He averted his eyes away from the restored statue that read 'I'm Still Here.' on the carved brass plate, just seeing the flowers around the statue alone reminded Katsuki of his weakness on that day, if he had just moved a little faster than All Might would still be here wouldn't he?

If it had been him that had taken that final hit from Shigraki's decay to save All Might… Would that have made the citizens of this world happier? He just couldn't get it, why was it always him that caused the bad things to happen?

Maybe it was his punishment, for acting all high and mighty throughout his years for not being a good person. His punishment for that was his dreams and everything else around him would turn to dust whenever he came into contact with it… Ironically making him similar to Shigaraki in a metaphorical sense.

He should just quit this little job.

What the hell was he supposed to do to help others when he couldn't even help himself? All for a chance to just become a sidekick and potentially screw things up there too? He couldn't deal with that, he couldn't even think about dealing with that.

Why was this so damn hard?

Katsuki looked at the statue ready to yell something at it before the sounds of footsteps interrupted his yell.

"Did you know him?"

A woman's voice said while Katsuki slowly looked back toward a short light brown haired woman stood there with flowers in her hand and a small smile on her face, she looked tired behind the glasses she wore but tried to stay even a little energetic in this moment.

The boy said nothing as the woman set down the flowers in her hand in front of the statue, before walking back to stand next to the boy, "Everyone knew him, but that look on your face suggests something more personal… If you don't mind me asking, I don't mean to be rude." the woman said politely while Katsuki stood there silently for a few moments before opening his mouth.

"He was my teacher…"

Katsuki said simply while the woman smiled, "That's great, I'm really glad he got into teaching, especially at U.A. from the time I was a young girl I had watched the man flew through the air saving the day but he really didn't become a hero to me until he became a teacher… After that point whenever he saved the day it felt more personal even when he saved me that night when he fought that masked man when I was trapped in rubble." the woman explained while Katsuki listened to her silently but completely.

"He shined brightly since then, hell it even inspired me to become a teacher myself. I have to give it to the man, high schoolers are not an easy task… no offense." the woman said with a chuckle while Katsuki kept silent looking down.

"Though I can imagine that doesn't sound like the case with you. You're a good kid."

The woman said, causing Katsuki to look up and make eye contact with the woman's own blues in slightly frustration.

"Good kid? You don't even know who the hell I am lady and if you did, the last words you would be using to describe me is 'good kid'."

Katsuki said while turning around to walk away while the woman smiled, "Do you want to know how I know Mr. Bakugo?" the woman asked, causing the boy to stop in his tracks before he slowly turned back toward the smiling woman.

"Because anyone who was bad wouldn't be making that kind of face while looking at this statue."

The woman said while Katsuki's eyes widened realizing his face rather than one twisted with anger was a somber one almost sad, he felt his body relax as he walked a little closer toward the woman again, "So you do know me." Katsuki merely commented while the brown haired woman nodded.

"I don't think anyone is going to forget that Sports Festival, you were amazing and even a little scary sometimes. However you're a kid it's not fair of us as adults to judge you harshly when you're right, we don't know anything about you."

The woman explained while Katsuki kept looking at her as she took a step closer to the boy, "But I want to." the brown haired woman said while Katsuki kept looking into her calm blue orbs as he resisted a scoff.

"Why the hell would you want to get to know me? I ain't anything special lady."

Katsuki said, shoving his hands in his pockets while looking away before the woman smiled again.

"Because I believe in you."

The woman said while Katsuki's eyes widened looking at the woman again, "You make your own path Mr. Bakugo, I can tell that you haven't really given up yet. This is just a brief sad moment and those are totally ok, but I know that if you looked up to him as much as I did or even more to make that kind of face filled with guilt then you have more than enough reasons to become the best version of yourself no matter what comes your way." the woman explained while Katsuki looked at the woman surprised before chuckling.

"Who the hell are you? My spirit guide?"

Katsuki joked while the woman closed her eyes and smiled, "Nope I'm Sachi Mizaume, high school teacher for 2nd years and one of the heads of the city construction committee. Now… who the hell are you?" the woman asked Katsuki before he simply turned around walking away while the woman gave him a confused look as he pointed a finger into the air.

"I'm the goddamn number one hero, don't let a single bastard wear out my name in the meantime lady!"

Katsuki yelled, sounding a bit more confident, causing Sachi to smile as she cupped her hands around her mouth, "Have a good night hero!" Sachi yelled back before she turned around to look at the statue again.

"You too."

Sachi heard coming from before her prompting her to turn around toward the boy to give him a surprised look but he was already gone, back into the darkening evening before a light smile graced her features.

{...}{...}{...}

Katsuki had somehow felt lighter when he was walking back this time, who'd think that the words of some random person could feel so reassuring? Not to say that she blew away all of Katsuki's burdens or anything like that but she certainly opened his eyes to things he didn't think of before.

It certainly helped however, once more another thing that Katsuki would never admit out loud to anyone if they asked.

He was still thinking about what exactly he was going to do about this whole HHS thing, he could just drop it and continue to move forward ahead of his class working even harder. It would be easier that way, helping people just wasn't something that he was good at doing they'd be better off with him not helping them.

Katsuki walked ahead toward the crossway across the street before he heard a frustrated growl and saw a broken red heel bouncing toward his direction, the boy picked up the piece of footwear before looking up toward where it's owner had been sitting.

Her jet black hair was pulled up into a spiky ponytail, her red dress lightly hugged her features as she looked toward the ground her face was frowning almost to the point of crying her gray eyes without their sterling color he was used to seeing. The beautiful class vice representative Momo Yayoyorozu was standing merely meters away as she looked ready to quit, Katsuki looked at her with his own unreadable expression.

'It's none of my business.'

Katsuki thought to himself as he went to turn away to walk across the crosswalk but his grip tightened on the heel in his hand instead of dropping it as he had originally planned, he thought about the look on her face again noticing how it was so similar to his own not too long ago.

"Goddamn it."

Katsuki swore to himself as he started walking toward Momo's direction, he held the heel up toward her as she looked at the boy spooked, jumping slightly as she registered him standing there, "Bakugo?" Momo asked while Katsuki gave her a look.

"Y'know if you're going to throw shoes at a guy you should at least tell him what's wrong."

Katsuki said while Momo flushed slightly before bowing her head, "No, I wasn't throwing my shoe at you in particular. I didn't even know you were there!" Momo exclaimed apologetically while Katsuki sighed looking at the girl.

"What's got you throwing shoes in the first place Ponytail?"

Katsuki asked while Momo gave the boy a look, "You saw then? You must be thinking how pathetic huh? Momo Yaoyorozu having a tantrum in the middle of the sidewalk. How unbecoming of me." Momo said while Katsuki merely looked at the girl.

"It really shouldn't be as big of a deal as it is but this whole day has just been going so wrong, I thought that I had my thoughts together during class but instead they almost seemed to get worse all of the sudden"

Momo explained beginning to vent while Katsuki listened to the young woman in front of him, "My mother called me and told me that they wouldn't be able to get me a car so I had to call a rideshare and to my awful luck they didn't come so I had to walk. While walking I realized I neglected to call my mother to let her know where I was only to find out my phone had died so I have no way of getting into contact with her at all or anyone for that matter then one of my heels broke while I was walking and…" Momo trailed off the frustration building up while Katsuki kept looking at the girl as she clenched her hand into a fist.

"I just feel so weak! I hate it, I hate it so much. They're going to laugh at me, all of these important business partners and yet they pick me to open up the event. I'm representing the whole family at this moment and I'm ready to collapse and make a fool out of myself, I'm just wondering why am I such a failure? Why would they pick me when I can barely be a hero in training or even a good leader for those who need me to be? I can feel all of that weighing on me and it makes me feel sick and I just want to not worry about it but I have to because it's my responsibility!"

Momo almost yelled frustrated while breathing after her rant, Katsuki kept looking at the girl while the frustration subsided turning into a feeling of sorrow. "Now I'm going to be late, with broken heels and a half baked opening speech." Momo said while looking down sadly.

Katsuki dug into his pockets before crouching and messing with his ankles, his black dress pants being pushed up while Momo looked at the boy in the white button down shirt noticing the scars on his forearms that were obviously from the conflict on his exposed arms from his rolled up sleeves.

"Right, you didn't ask for all of that. I'm sorry, I'll be on my way. It was rude of me to just suddenly push all of my problems on you all of the sudden… if it's any consultation then I really appreciate you at least sticking around to listen to me even if it was by mere coincidence. Thank you Bakugo, I hope you have a good night."

Momo said while resigning herself to her fate, turning around to walk away right as the blonde haired boy stood back up looking at her retreating form, "So… your issue is that you broke your heel, your cell phone is dead, and you need a ride right?" Katsuki asked while Momo turned around looking at the boy curiously while she raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, but what does that have to do with anythi-"

Momo was cut off by Katsuki suddenly sweeping her off of her feet into his arms holding her bridal style as a confident red met a surprised gray, Momo failed to find any words while looking at the boy who looked down at her with a serious expression on his face.

"Hang on, Princess."

Katsuki said while stomping a foot to the ground suddenly launching the pair of teens into the air causing Momo to yelp at the sudden air they had just gotten, Katsuki narrowed his eyes as he blasted forward using the devices he had attached to his leg to send out explosions made from his stored sweat to send them flying forward.

Momo pressed her face into Katsuki chest as the wind whipped through her face and into their faces as Katsuki blasted through the air again sending them clear over most smaller buildings and over the streets of the city the lights glowing brightly as Katsuki looked ahead toward the largest building in the area belonging to the Yaoyorozu conglomerate.

The two free fell for a moment before Katsuki looked at the girl in his arms, "It's the big ass building right?! Your family's?" Katsuki asked while Momo peeked her head out just enough to look at Katsuki's face nodding her head.

"Good, hang on!"

Katsuki yelled while blasting forward again sending them flying back upward while blasting forward, the boy maneuvered past any street lamps and cranes in their way while they flew forward his hold on the girl never faltering as they flew through the air.

Momo had peeked her head back out again, noticing the boy's face as he blasted forward. He was clearly tired but he was determined to get her to the place she needed to be, she looked at him surprised while he blasted forward again.

They got really close to a building but Katsuki quickly recovered running along the side of it using their momentum before kicking off of it blasting higher into the air, Momo fully peeked her head out getting a bird's eye view of the city below her taking in it's beauty of all of the lights shining brightly back at them.

This brought a smile on Momo's face as she looked back up toward Katsuki who clicked the devices together using his legs propelling them forward in one large blast forward causing Momo to almost cheer as the wind whipped past them.

She felt so free flying through the air with Katsuki, it was as if her worries were melting away as she closed her eyes to feel the wind whipping past her smiling face, Katsuki noticed fighting off his own little smirk at the girl in his arms enjoying the sensation.

"Having fun?"

Katsuki asked while blasting forward again while Momo flushed trying to regain her calm composure while the boy chuckled at her. This little trip was coming to an end soon with time to spare as the building got really close, Katsuki released one more large blast launching them closer to the building as they were practically right in front of it.
They began to free fall causing Momo to press her face into Katsuki's chest again bracing for impact as the boy switched his hold on Momo to a one handed one keeping her close to him as he stuck a palm outward toward the quickly approaching ground.

He fired off another explosion slowing them down considerably as they landed safely right at the bottom of the second set of stone stairs in front of the building. Momo kept her eyes closed and continued holding onto the boy, almost afraid to open her eyes as Katsuki looked at the girl flushing slightly at their closeness.

"Oi, we're alive and at your stop. You can let go now."

Katsuki said while Momo quickly let the boy go before regaining her composure, shaking away the flush of red on her face while smiling, "T-thank you. You really didn't have to." Momo said while Katsuki shrugged.

"You're right, I didn't. Yet here you are. You need to get going, you don't want to be late."

Katsuki said while Momo looked at the building apprehensively before he looked down at the ground before looking back at the girl.

"When did you get a second quirk?"

Katsuki asked simply while Momo gave the boy a look, "I never did." Momo responded answering his question while he narrowed his eyes at her, "Then if you can't read minds then don't assume you know what I'm thinking." Katsuki said while Momo had a confused expression on her face.

"I never thought for a single second that you were pathetic."

Katsuki said, causing Momo's eyes to open while the boy looked back at her, "You're human, we make mistakes and like to think we're special then act like the world ends whenever life reminds us that we aren't, but that's no excuse for any of us." Katsuki said while Momo looked at the boy as he pointed toward the girl.

"You annoyed me, you know, that's not a surprise. However the reason why you annoyed me so much was because of how intelligent and strong you were and yet you tried to be perfect no matter what I thought you were an idiot for that because you sounded like me."

Katsuki admitted while Momo looked at the boy with a surprised look on her face.

"That back there was the most human I've seen you ever, that's nothing to feel bad about as a matter of fact it makes you strong. Keep that up and you may actually be bearable to hang around, don't forget that Ponytail."

Katsuki said while turning around to leave as Momo clenched her fist, "What if they do laugh? What if they believe in me? What if I get up there and my family name is ruined because of me? What about their expectations of me?" Momo asked genuinely as Katsuki turned back around, his red eyes gleaming determined.

"Fuck their expectations."

Katsuki said clearly, causing Momo to feel a tingling sensation run through her body while Katsuki looked back at the girl.

"The person who's standing up isn't any of those other fucks or even your mom or dad or grandpa. The only person standing up there is you, they don't define you, you define yourself. We aren't born special if we want to be then we've got to grit our teeth and do it ourselves. Go up as yourself not as their figurehead Ponytail. You'll do fine."

Katsuki said while Momo looked at the boy with a small smile on her face before raising an eyebrow, "If you figured it was none of your business then why is it that you helped me tonight?" Momo asked curiously while Katsuki looked at her before rolling his eyes.

"It's a hero's job to meddle in the business of others, besides…"

Katsuki said while turning around walking down the stairs leaving the girl in the red dress standing there watching him walk away.

"You looked like you were asking for help."

Katsuki said thinking back on when Izuku Midoriya, his childhood friend, once told him something similar back when he ran in to rescue him from the sludge villain.

"Knock them dead Ponytail."

Katsuki said while walking away before he blasted off into the air again leaving the black haired girl to watch him fly away the light reflecting off the boy causing him to shine while Momo smiled, he had been exactly what she had needed and for that she was gracious.

"Thank you… Katsuki."

Momo said to herself as she quickly made an adhesive to fix her heel while making sure it was good to walk on before she put it back on walking toward the building with a new fired up look on her face as she entered the building.

That night the entire room would never forget the bite that Momo Yaoyorozu had in her speech during the opening.

{...}{...}{...}

Katsuki found himself back in his office finishing the paperwork that he needed to start his new position, it was going to be a pain in the ass but if it was something that was tasked for him to do then he would rip the band-aid off and do it.

He was tired of waiting for a handout just because he worked hard, if anything was going to change about his current situation then it was something that he had to complete himself. Any task that would come his way was something that he was going to complete, with ease at the point 50 requests didn't mean a damn thing to him.

Katsuki left the packet in his folder slot right outside of the door where he caught a glimpse of the name plate that had yet to be updated that read 'All Might.' Katsuki looked at the tag before he walked away from the room.

"Don't you worry old man, this time… It's my turn."
