My first time writing something. Just for fun. I own nothing.

Private Jason Miller, a rifleman in the Australian Army. He wanted to do his duty so he enlisted and now here he was riding in a Bushmaster PMV, a four-wheeled armored truck that was currently carrying him and the rest of his section. He could hear his section commander, a sergeant, talking on the radio with the rest of the platoon command elements but he wasn't really paying attention so none of the words he spoke registered in Jason's mind. He was bored.

It had only been about over a month since they were in-country and absolutely nothing of interest had happened since then. Every day it was just sitting at the base making sure the perimeter was secure or going on one of these mounted patrols to make sure the area surrounding the base was secure. He didn't really have too much of a problem with that, though, since for something interesting to happen bullets would have to start flying and Jason wasn't very eager to have himself or his mates getting shot at.

The patrol went on, as it always did, and finally, they started heading back home. That was until Jason heard an RPG shoot past them and then the shouting of his sergeant. "DISMOUNT! 360! NOW!" the sergeant screamed as the gunner on the Bushmaster's .50 cal began firing on an enemy Jason could not yet see. He, and the rest of his section, quickly got themselves out of the vehicle and began forming a 360-degree field of fire around their Bushmaster, as did the other sections from their own bushmasters.

As Jason took his place he could see the gunner from before firing on a group of buildings in the distance alongside the gunner from the vehicle in front of them. They seem to have been doing an impressive job at suppressing the enemy because they weren't receiving any return fire.

The sergeant was speaking into his radio again, no doubt getting orders from the platoon commander as to how to proceed. Jason wasn't listening, if he had any relevant orders the sergeant would yell at him directly. Right now, he was scanning his area for any signs of movement ready to shout out and open fire on any targets that might present themselves.

"2nd section, on me! Us and 1st and gonna flush these cunts out!" yelled out the sergeant. Jason and the rest of his section quickly fell into formation and, alongside 1st section, started making their way towards the group of buildings that were still being suppressed by their gunners. It didn't take them along to cover the distance, or maybe Jason had just lost track of the time with all that adrenaline pumping through his veins.

As they neared the first building, the enemy finally presented themselves. Peeking out from the corner of the building, a man wielding an AK began firing on them. He only 3 shots off, none of them finding their targets, as a dozen rounds peppered into him and the corner he came out of. Jason and 2 others made to breach the building the insurgent had just come out of when he felt a tap on his and a surge of energy course through him. He kicked the door in and rushed himself through the doorway, making to clear the room of any hostiles when he saw another insurgent crouched in one of the corners with his AK raised. Jason squeezed his right hand and there was a series of loud bangs and the feeling of heat in his neck as his world went black. He felt himself hit the floor of that building, the last feeling he'd remember as the darkness took him.

Fuck me he thought to himself what a shit way to go. Probably didn't even kill the fucker. Ah w- Wait. What? How am I still thinking? Ah, probably caught the plate... No, wait. This isn't unconsciousness! What the fuck! he screamed inside his head as he quickly jolted up.

"Finally! You're up!" said a voice above him.

Jason groaned and looked up. "What the fuck?" he thought out loud as above him floated a... Ghost from Destiny?

"Good question..." the Ghost said, "but I don't have a clue either."

To say that Jason was confused would be the biggest understatement in his life. His very mind was simply purged of everything save for confusion. What the fuck is going on? Did I die? Where am I? Why is there a fucking Ghost from Destiny hovering here?!

"Um, first question. I do not know what is going on. Second, yeah I'm pretty sure you just died. Third, again I don't know. Third, I'd like to know myself." the reply came from the Ghost. Wait, reply?!

"Yes, I can read your mind but only because I'm your Ghost." it replied again.

Jason closed his eyes and took a moment to calm himself. It seemed he took a few moments too long because the Ghost spoke once more "No, I'm afraid this isn't a dream. You're really here." Jason took those words in and opened his eyes. He was alive, he could feel his arms and legs and see through his own two eyes, and above him floated a Ghost from Destiny. Speaking of arms and legs and felt himself being surrounded by some kind of enveloping suit. He looked down at himself and he could see... his body? It was covered in what he could only identify as... Titan armor? The same feeling surrounded his own head and he quickly grabbed the object surrounding his head and took it off.

The Vault of Glass Titan helmet? he thought to himself as he once more examined himself, now standing. I'm wearing the Vault of Glass Titan set? He looked up at the Ghost, now floating at eye level looking at him and no doubt giving time to come to his senses. The Ghost's shell followed a similar design to his armor but he could still very much tell that it was a ghost, with all the crazy Ghost shells that saw in Destiny 2. He took a few more moments to process all this information.

"Have you resurrected me to fight the Darkness?" Jason finally spoke. This is right out of one of those Isekai fanfics where the main character dies and gets resurrected by a Ghost. Fuck, I don't wanna fight Hive gods!

"That'd be simple, wouldn't it, but no actually. At least, I don't think so." the Ghost began "You died and now you're here, wherever 'here' is. Me, I was created during that process from your own psyche and now we're both here. One thing's clear, though, you have the powers of a Guardian, a Titan, from Destiny, Destiny 2 to be exact, and I'm your Ghost."

"So... are you my clone?" Jason asked.

"Not exactly. I know that my mind was somehow created from yours but I'm basically a different person... I think. Ummm, it's hard to explain." the Ghost replied.

"...Do you have my memories?" Jason asked.

"Not entirely. I think me being made from your psyche was more of a... 'blueprint' on how a... 'person' works. That being said, though, I am a supercomputer so it's not exactly the same. I have the same understanding of the world you came from as you do, which is why I can understand this whole 'Destiny' game stuff but I don't have your full memories like playing in the playground or stuff like that." the Ghost replied.

Jason just stared blankly. His feeling of overwhelming confusion was dying down but he was still left with a lot of questions. "So I'm a Guardian and you're my Ghost, huh? But we're not in the Destiny universe?" Jason managed to ask.

"Yes, and it doesn't seem so... at least, I don't think so. I've used the Light to try to find out where we are and, well, we're not in the Sol system. I detected some signals but didn't wanna do anything more, not until you were here." his Ghost replied.

Jason looked around himself. He was on a planet, that much was certain, and all around him was an arid desert soaking in the day's sun. As if on cue his Ghost chimed in "It seems that we're on a habitable arid world in a star system containing 1 orange start, similar to the Sun. There are other celestial bodies in the system but this planet seems to be the only one that is habitable. The signals I told you about earlier? A lot of it is coming from this planet, I think it's inhabited."

"This is... well... this is a lot to take in." Jason began "First, I die then I get Isekai'd into God-knows-where and now I'm a Guardian with a Ghost?" Jason exhaled a deep sigh, thinking about what to do. "Try to get into those signals but don't let yourself be detected. Try to find... I don't know, anything that might tell us what the hell is going on."

"On it." his Ghost replied quickly as it started making some mechanical noises.

Jason took the time to pick up his discarded helmet and examined it closely. There was the distinctive eye of Kabr's helmet but it wasn't glowing. Not knowing what else to do, Jason flipped the helmet around and placed it back on his head as he was greeted by the briefest darkness which was quickly overtaken by the helmet's display. No, it doesn't... feel like a display. It's like... the helmet is projecting these visuals and sounds, right into my... brain?

"Yeah, space magic. I don't really know 'how' any of this stuff works but it's like it just comes naturally to me, like I know 'what's' happening but not 'how' it's happening. Oh, I finished tapping in by the way." his Ghost approached him "The results are... interesting, to say the least."

"Go on." Jason was getting impatient with the suspense.

"Right." his Ghost began "So... basically... we're in the Mass Effect universe."

The Mass Effect universe... cool... wait... Reapers... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!

"The current year is 2172 human-standard, so 11 years before the events of Mass Effect 1." Ghost said "We're on a Turian mining colony, the nature of this world making it good for little more than the mining of metals and even then the output is unremarkable. It's a quiet system, most of the traffic happens at the system refueling station."

Jason had all but ignored the part about the system "11 years, huh. Hmmm. Wait, when we... got sent here did anyone notice our arrival?" Jason quickly asked.

"No." the Ghost replied "They've got some satellites in orbit but they're just to assist in mining operations. Still, I had a look and it seems they didn't detect our arrival. I searched out further still, don't worry I made sure I was careful, and there's been absolutely nothing of interest in this system. Even if anything got picked up, we could always turn tail and run." With that, the Ghost transmatted down a ship in front of Jason who gave the Ghost a raised eyebrow under the helmet.

Ghost made a small whirring sound. "Nope, they didn't detect that either."

The ship followed the same Vault of Glass theme Jason and his Ghost was wearing, it seems. It had the same Vex-looking appearance with its shape following that of his armor. Jason didn't give it too much thought, though.

"So..." Jason began "...you can read my thoughts?"

"The connection is a bit more than that, it's more I can feel your very emotions. Right now it's mostly confusion and curiosity." Ghost replied.

"Hmmm..." Jason thought out loud "...say, we never really introduced ourselves."

"Yeah, I guess not. I'm... I guess... 'Ghost'?" the little thing posed itself into a shrug with that little shell of his.

"Welp, I'm Jason Miller we need a better name for you." Jason introduced himself.

"I'm open to suggestions but I was thinking 'Gorgon' since we're following the whole Vault of Glass thing." Ghost said.

"I dunno, that seems a bit... edgy. How about... yeah okay, we might as well take something from Vault of Glass since it's gonna be like this." Jason looked down at his armor. "How about... Templar?"

"Ah, a strong and stoic name. I like that name." Templar replied.

"Nah, it's because he's a little bitch that 99% of raid teams 1-phase." Jason joked but Templar's only response was a beam from his eyeball to zapped Jason in his head. "Ouch! I didn't know Ghosts could do that!"

"Yeah, neither did I but I guess I can." Templar turned to the ship. "I didn't know Ghosts could transmat ships either but I guess I can."

"Speaking of technology, the Vex-theme of your armor, my shell, and the ship isn't just cosmetic. I can actually have them behave like how Mass Effect technology would. The ship can be made to use Mass Effect FTL as well as the Relays and I could make your shields behave like kinetic barriers, in case you want to stay incognito." Templar explained.

"What if I wanna throw caution to the wind and unleash by space magic?" Jason queried.

"Well, you could do that but it might draw the attention of Sovereign and the Reapers. Your Guardian powers make you powerful but I don't think you're going to fare too well against the undivided attention of a Reaper." Templar explained.

Jason thought about it for a moment and decided such a course of action made sense. Even still, he hadn't even used the powers they'd been talking about yet. "Since us being brought here didn't make any 'noise' and neither did you when you transmatted the ship, would me using my powers make any 'noise'?"

"Only one way to find out" was Templar's only reply.

With a sigh, Jason began wondering how he could even begin manifesting these powers. He started off by imagining the Titan's high lift. He bent his knees somewhat and jumped up, willing himself to go even further. Suddenly he felt a surge within his body as he was freed from the gravity of the planet and ascended higher and higher. The lift canceled after a certain distance and once more he was a slave to gravity. He landed with a solid thud as the full weight of his body and armor once more made contact with the ground but the important part was that he landed on his feet. He hadn't fallen flat on his face.

"Holy shit!" Jason exclaimed.

"Looks like that didn't get picked up either." Templar "The energy of our powers, I think, comes from the Light itself and it seems there's no way for anyone here to actually detect it."

Jason gave him a nod and returned to trying out his newfound powers. He started off with the basics, utilizing high, strafe, and catapult lifts. He progressively began using more of his Light to summon more devastating powers, going through all the supers in all the three subclasses at the Titan's disposal. There wasn't a need to 'switch' between the subclasses, though. It was all seamless to him. All throughout, Templar was keeping a vigil in case anything got picked up but just like before it did not. Eventually, Jason began using the Titan's super Sentinel Shield. Throwing it around like a frisbee at nearby rocks. Such a trance was limited and soon his Light could no longer sustain it. When his super expired, Jason felt a sense of being drained. Not physically, more like in his soul, his Light. He began building back up, though, and Jason understood this to be his super cooldown.

Eventually, after much waiting between recharges, Jason went through all the Titan's supers and was satisfied but there was one thing missing. "No stasis?"

"I guess not." Templar replied, "Stasis comes from Darkness and I don't really... hmmm... 'feel' that here?"

"I guess that makes sense. What about guns?" Jason asked.

"Well, while you were playing with your superpowers I took the time to make some tweaks to the ship, my shell, and your armor. The ship can now use Element Zero for Relay and FTL travel. If anyone scans it, it'll show up as a normal functioning ship, with a weird design. The same goes for your armor, it's like you're wearing armor straight from this universe, just odd looking. As for your weapons..." Templar continued explaining as he transmatted an unusual-looking Fatebringer straight into Jason's hand which was quickly caught "...they fire like any weapon in this universe, just a lot more powerful. If you hadn't noticed, your body is that of a superhuman so you can more than handle the recoil. I'd say your body's just about that of a Krogan in their prime."

Jason gave a quick whistle as he brought his Fatebringer to bear. "So... do I have all the weapons from Vault of Glass?" he queried.

"Yep, even the Vex Mythoclast." Templar replied, "Though, I couldn't make that one work like normal Mass Effect guns. Probably because it's 'Exotic'."

Jason aimed his hand cannon at a nearby rock, holding the gun with both hands, and he squeezed his right hand. There was a bang and a piece of metal shaving flew at impossible speeds right into the rock, turning it into small pieces of stone and that was just the bits that didn't get turned into dust. Jason then went through the rest of his arsenal before finally having the Vex Mythoclast in his hands.

"60 clears of that fucking raid and all I had to do was get shot to finally get this damned gun." Jason muttered to himself as he aimed the weapon and fired.

"So, what now?" Templar asked.

What now indeed Jason thought to himself. "Maybe we should lay as low as we can. When the Reapers came, Shepard and his team stopped them. If we try to change things, maybe that might not come to pass." Jason suggested.

"Hey, you're the boss. And yeah, that does seem like a safe strategy, but what do we do know? Unless you want to farm some moisture, I don't think you'll want to stay on this rock." Templar replied.

"Well... I'll need an ID... and an Omni-tool... and a translator?" Jason wondered out loud.

"ID's already done." Templar spoke and projected the images into Jason's helmet "Jason Miller, born on Earth. Enlisted in the Alliance military but left and became a mercenary. You also have a bank account suitable for a respectful mercenary such as yourself."

Jason raised an eyebrow and Templar started to explain himself "Don't worry, I took the credits from tax dodgers and other criminals. No one's going to ask questions. You even have a perfect history of paying your taxes."

"Forged."

"Well yeah, but I'm a supercomputer so yeah." was Templar's only reply.

"As for what now... how about a trip to the Citadel? If I'm in the Mass Effect universe, might as well see the sights, hey?" Jason proposed.

"As I said, you're the boss. But if we're going to be going to the Citadel, you're going to need some civilian clothes." With that, Templar transmatted away Jason's armor and replaced it with a pair of black pants with plenty of pockets which Jason likened to his uniform pants. A tucked dark-grey t-shirt, and a pair of black boots.

"Hmmm, I like this. Very utilitarian." Jason said.

"I thought you might. And here's this." Templar replied as he transmatted an enviro-suit on top of Jason's clothes. Again, it followed the black/dark grey aesthetic.

Templar then must have done something with the ship because a ramp lowered to the ground. Jason climbed the ramp and seems to have gotten himself in the ship's cargo hold. "Wait, what about the Omni-tool and translator?" Jason called out to Templar.

"Oh, right." Templar transmatted a simple Omni-tool into Jason's hands which he promptly placed on his wrist. "As for the translator, I fitted one into you when I changed your clothes."

"You can do that?"

"Hahaha! What can't I do? Come on, let's take this ship for a spin."
