Who Am I? Mewtwo

Summary: It's weird enough winding up in the Pokemon universe, being turned into a Pokemon while Taifun's at it takes that weird factor and cranks it up to eleven. At least I'm a Psychic Type.

Pokemon Speak/Voice over radio or phone

Story Start: My House

I blinked from my bed where I had been reading fanfiction on my phone and said "I'm sorry, I must have heard you wrong, you want to turn me into a what?"

"A Pokemon." The black cloaked stranger who had suddenly appeared in my room (a ROB named Taifun apparently) stated with crossed arms, and a smirk that I just knew was in place under that hood of theirs.

I pinched the bridge of my nose and said "That's what I thought you said." Swinging my legs up then down to the side of the bed to swing my torso into a seated position, I asked "Disregarding you transplanting me from my world to a Pokemon world for a moment, why do you want to turn me into a Pokemon rather than just let me be a trainer?"

Taifun gave a chuckle and said "Because it's funny. That and it'll give you an edge, but mostly because it's funny."

I gave a weary sigh and asked "You're not turning me into a Caterpie or some other low tiered Pokemon are you?"

"Oh good heavens no! Too much risk you'd get eaten by a Pidgeotto within your first week there, thus ruining my entertainment." Taifun stated before I saw a grin of light appear under the hood as he continued "I'm going to turn you into something with a little more 'oomph' to your name."

"I don't suppose you'll tell me what this Pokemon with more 'oomph' is?" I asked, not expecting a straight answer.

"Nope!" Taifun actually chirped validating my expectations before his grin somehow seemed to become conspiratorial as he continued "I will tell you now though that you'll be a Psychic Type."

"Well that's something at least." I said with a sigh.

"Also, because it amuses me," Taifun stated before flicking a hand and the phone still in my hand, my laptop and its second monitor on my desk, the switch on the small table kept perpendicular to the regular desk, and the portable dvd player on my dresser all disappeared in simultaneous flashes of light.

"HEY!" I shouted standing up in dismay.

"Oh relax, it's not like you would have been able to take them with you, besides, I work under rules of equivalent exchange. Taking those allows me to slip a nifty little something into the back of your head that I think you'll like."

I gave him a wary look and said "You see, it's saying stuff like that which makes me want to run away screaming even though I know you would just chuck me out of this universe from wherever I've stopped running once I've tired myself out."

Taifun cackled and said "Glad to see you understand how things work. Anyways, time for you to go." The next instant, I felt something grab my shoulder from behind and the next moment it felt like I was thrown through the air like someone flicking a playing card. I only had an instant to experience that feeling though before everything went black.

Time Skip: One Month Later, World Shift: A Pokemon World (Anime)

When my eyes opened (when did I close them?) I almost didn't realize that I had done so. Blackness surrounded me. But while my eyes didn't seem to be working, my ears had no such problem, picking up scientific terms from multiple people, listening to them, it soon became clear that the science they were speaking of was a mix of medical in nature, bio engineering to be specific.

Frowning to myself, I thought 'Scientists talking about building a body, and I'm supposedly Psychic. Unless there was some Psychic type Fossil Pokemon we never learned about that they're trying to revive, I think it's pretty obvious what I am now. A 'little more 'oomph'' he says, way to understate things Taifun.'

The next moment, I jerked back in the darkness I was surrounded by as something suddenly appeared right in front of my face.

It took a moment to get over my surprised fear (the scientists I was hearing were all freaking out about my heartrate spiking for no apparent reason) but when I had calmed down, I saw what had to be a Porygon hovering in front of me.

*Greetings, it is good to see that your mind is now at a stage of growth where it is capable of higher thought once more.* The Porygon stated in a female voice. A familiar female voice. My quickly forming suspicion was confirmed a moment later as the Porygon continued *From the files that I have been given on you, I believe it is safe to say that you should recognize me as a Porygon. I have been created then assigned to aid your endeavors by the Random Omnipotent Being that goes by the name of Taifun and been given the designation 'Cortana'. I currently reside in a microchip embedded into the back of your skull which is small enough none of the scanners the scientists that created your current body have can detect. My housing chip is powered by drawing exotic energy particles from an artificial pocket dimension so you need not worry about it ever running out of power. It is quite an interesting design if I say so myself, far more advanced than anything I could find in this world, and believe me, I've done quite the thorough search while waiting for you to 'come online' as it were.*

I took all of that in for a moment before I closed my eyes and introduced my face to my hand. Honestly, why was I surprised Taifun would do this? I had already figured out he had a rather 'trolling' sort of humor. A moment later, I opened my eyes and actually looked at my new hand. For some reason, when Cortana had first appeared I began to be able to see my body, my incredibly tiny looking body. Everything else was still complete blackness around us though. Back to the hand though, it was rather strange to see three bulbous pads where fingers should be.

I flexed the digits for a moment then turned the wrist the hand was attached to for a few moments before I looked back at Cortana and said "You said you were able to perform searches of what's out there. Any chance there were other clones in this facility? There should be four, three of the Kantonian Starters and one human female." I then frowned and said "Wait, scratch that for the human, if I remember right, Ambertwo is just a ball of energy in the physical world."

*That is correct, Tac.* Cortana stated before four 'windows' appeared, showing four tanks holding orange fluid and sensor leads connected to bodies hanging in the liquid in three of the tubes. I spared a moment to frown at the unlit tail of the Charmander clone before I turned my gaze to the mass of energy in the tube holding Ambertwo's consciousness and I questioned "Do you know if there is a reason why Amber doesn't have a body like we do?"

*Multiple attempts to connect Subject Amber's consciousness to a new body have failed due to the bodies ceasing to function. Current reports state that until you and the Starter Clones remain functioning for two months no further attempts will be made.* Cortana reported.

I frowned for a moment at that and said "She's not going to last that long if things go the same way as it did in The Uncut Story of Mewtwo's Origin. Cortana, is there any way to make a digital copy of her mind and store it in your microchip until we can make a sustainable clone?"

*One moment please.* Cortana stated, her body panels overflowing with code for a few brief seconds before she returned to normal and stated *Possibility of 'Copying' Subject Amber's mind for future use is believed to be likely. Shall I begin working on that?*

I nodded and said "Yeah, start now. We might not have long before Ambertwo fades. In fact, if possible, get the Starter clones as well if you can." They might not have been someone else's child before, but letting them fade to nothing while saving Amber would have been cruel and heartless.

"Hello? Is someone there?" A child's voice sounded from the darkness.

"Speaking of." I muttered to myself before I glanced in the 'direction' the 'sound' had come from and called back "Over here!" On a hunch, I pictured a large flashlight and it faded into existence next to me, immediately turning on. The light didn't show anything in the darkness but a moment later, a green haired child was suddenly with us.

The girl smiled as she waved and said "Hi there, I'm Amber, who are you?"

"Call me Tac." I stated.

*Cortana is my designation.* Cortana added.

"Wow, you two look like Pokemon but you talk like humans!" Amber said in amazement.

I shrugged and said "Being able to speak in 'human tongue' is not unique to just humans Amber. Even ignoring telepathic communication from Psychic Types, it's possible for a Pokemon to train themselves in order to speak in a way that humans can understand. Most just don't think to try."

"Wow." Amber said before she grinned and asked "Hey, there are other Pokemon with us as well, do you think you could teach them how to talk like this?!"

*I believe that I can provide such instruction.* Cortana stated.

Amber spun on the spot and cupped her mouth with her hands as she shouted out into the darkness "HEY YOU GUYS! COME ON OVER HERE!"

As three Pokemon began to fade into 'existence' around us, I closed my eyes and lifted my right hand up to my temple to massage it as I said "The mechanics of this mental plane is starting to give me a headache."

Amber giggled and said "You're starting to sound like an old man Tac!"

I opened my right eye to give her a mock glare and said in my most over the top 'old geezer' voice "Watch your tone Youngster! Don't you know you're supposed to respect your elders you young whippersnapper?!"

Amber's giggling turned into full laughter at that, the girl clutching her ribs and 'falling' onto her back.

I blinked once, honestly a little surprised she had found that jest so amusing. Shaking my head, I turned my gaze to the three newcomers and waved as I said "Hi there."

"Hiya!" Squirtle said with a grin and a wave back, the other two giving their own greetings.

As Amber got over her laughing fit, I looked around the blackness again and decided "Okay, this place is getting really boring really fast. Let's see if we can...there we go!" A bit of targeted thought later and the blackness around us was replaced with a blue sky interspersed by clouds and San Francisco below us, the bay glittering in the strong sunlight.

"Oh, wow!" Amber gasped in amazement, the three Starters also exclaiming their awe.

"Much better to look at than that boring blackness isn't it?" I asked with a please smile.

"I'll say!" Charmander said, tail waving happily behind him.

"Come on, let's get a closer look at that giant bridge!" Amber called out before diving and the rest of us followed.

An hour later, we were 'north' of the city, now in a redwood forest weaving around the massive trunks.

"Can trees really grow this big?" Bulbasaur asked, looking around in wonder.

*There are indeed species of trees that can grow this large, and some trees grow even larger. The tallest known tree is the Tree of Life in the Rota Kingdom.* Cortana stated, pulling up a long shot photo displaying the massive tree.

"Isn't that thing made out of living crystal?" I asked with a frown.

*It is, but it's innards work just like a wooden tree does, and it's outer appearance is that of a tree, so general consensus is that it is in fact, a tree, albeit a rather unique one.* Cortana stated.

"Huh, well how about that?" I mused only to flinch as I heard Charmander say "Hey guys? I feel funny."

Whirling around, I saw blue flecks coming off of Charmander's mental avatar.

Eyes widening in alarm, I said "Crap! Cortana, what's going on?!"

*Unknown, all external systems are operating normally.* Cortana stated, a tinge of alarm in her robotic voice.

"Which means it's likely mental!" I said, feeling a spark of hope as I pictured a force field keeping Charmandertwo in one piece, also picturing the force field sending strengthening energy into the Fire Type. My eyes burned with blue fire and Charmander's body was surrounded by a blue shell of light. I immediately developed a headache but it was worth it to see the blue flecks stop coming off of the Starter.

A moment later, I spotted the flecks coming from Squirtletwo as well and I set up another force field around him. I grunted in pain as the headache doubled but fought through it as I put a third around Bulbasaurtwo next. The headache spiked again into a full out raging migraine and I gritted my teeth as I made a fourth force field around Ambertwo's mental avatar.

Now feeling like I had a railroad spike going through my head, I asked through grit teeth "Cortana, status, is it working?!"

*Brainwave patterns are still being detected. They are greatly diminished but are slowly growing back to their previous levels at .5 percent per second.* Cortana stated.

That statement was reinforced as my physical ears picked up the relief in the scientist's voices. Cortana helpfully pulled up a video feed just in time for us to see one of the scientists call out in alarm "Mewtwo's brainwaves are spiking at dangerous levels! Whatever it's doing, it won't be able to keep it up for long!"

I let out a snarl and ground out "Watch me!"

Going by how everyone in the video feed flinched, I assumed I had broadcast that to all of the scientists out there. A moment later, one of the female scientists asked uncertainly "Did that just happen?"

"You mean did the supposedly super powerful Psychic type clone who's supposed to be unconscious somehow hear us from fifty feet away while inside a container filled with liquid? Sure seems that way." one of the male scientists answered, a little touch of hysteria to his voice.

"Yes, I heard you, now shut up so I can concentrate!" I barked out causing all of the scientists to flinch again.

A moment later, a second video feed showing mine and Amber's tanks popped up showing a man I recognized as Dr. Fuji with his hand on Amber's containment tube. Amber's soft "Daddy" came just before Dr. Fuji quietly but desperately said "I don't know what you're doing Mewtwo, but please keep it up. Just until we figure out what's wrong. I can't lose her, not again!"

"Daddy." Amber said softly again, this time sadly.

I let out a grunt before I let the projection of the forest around us fade away back into the blackness of before. That helped a bit with the migraine but it still felt like my brain cavity had fire burning in it. But I was used to working through mental pain, Migraines were like that annoying cousin who thankfully lived too far away to visit more than once every few years. They didn't come often when I had still been human, but often enough I knew how to work around them. Closing my eyes (not that it kept the blue fire of my power from being seen) I sat cross legged in the darkness and put my hands in my lap, the three digits held in as close to a fist as I could make and pressed against each other.

"Mewtwo's brainwaves are still spiking, but it's not as bad now." The scientist who had first brought up said spiking said quietly enough that the only reason why I heard his words was because of the camera feed Cortana still had up and running.

"What about the others?" Dr. Fuji asked equally quietly. (I assumed he had walked over to the monitor so he didn't have to call out the question)

"Still slowly recovering, but unless we figure out what happened, there's no guarantee that this won't happen again when Mewtwo has to stop." The scientist answered and I let out a grunt at the lack of faith in my ability to keep the Psychic fields up around the other clones' minds.

A few long moments later, I heard Dr. Fuji quietly say "Contact Giovanni. Tell him we need Sabrina."

What? I opened my right eye in time to see Dr. Fuji turn away from the monitor and make his way back to Amber's tube.

'But I thought Sabrina was only a Team Rocket member in the Pokemon Special manga.' I thought in confusion. Apparently I was wrong. Still, if she could figure out how to keep the other four clones around without having to keep them wrapped up in my power, I would welcome the help. I just had to keep them around until she arrived. Closing my eye again, I put my full focus on doing just that. It was all that I could do, that and wait.

Author's Note: Now standard reminder to vote on the current poll for what I work on next. Starting next poll, I'm bringing everything I've already written back because otherwise it's going to be actual years before they can be chosen again. To counter that, I think I'm going to try and let people vote for a third of the available options rather than just ten votes. (Hopefully people actually use all of those votes rather than just voting for one or two stories.) Moving on to this story itself, this idea has come so close to wining so many times. I think there has been maybe one time where it wasn't in the second to most voted group of options. Hopefully everyone likes what I have as the starting chapter. I actually was originally going to not be able to save the Starter Clones and Amber (hence the mind copying) but I think I like this version better if only because it adds options to what I can do in upcoming chapters. But you'll have to wait for those, so until I next post something, this is Tac signing out.
