It was the beginning of June when Marinette Dupain-Cheng was looking out across the bank of the Seine. But her attention was drawn to a certain part of landmass that was protruding from the water. And on that landmass was a big construction crew that was currently building a future project: Arkham Asylum. Ever since the announcement back in January, Marinette had spent a lot of time watching the crew make the prison. For she knew that when it was finished, they would be sending the prisoners of Blackgate here. Currently the crew had laid concrete on the foundation and were making the frame of what prison.
"Do you always have to be here?" A voice snapped Marinette out of her thoughts. She turned and saw her girlfriend, Chloé Bourgeois.
It had been a few months since they both started dating each other. Even they don't know how it happened. Chloé always knew she was a lesbian but she never thought she would be with Marinette, even after what she had done to her. In Marinette's mind, she still remembers how they got together.
A few months earlier
It was Spring Break when Marinette received a text from Chloé. She asked Marinette if she could come over. Confused, Marinette replied yes and then waited for Chloé to come over. Suddenly, she heard a knock on her balcony door. She opened it and saw Chloé standing there and she invited her in.
"Hey Chloé." Marinette said. "What did you want to talk about."
"I've got something to say, I just don't know how to say it." Chloé said.
"Just think about it carefully." Marinette said. She looked at Chloé and saw that she was nervous.
"Only a few people know this." Chloé said. "My parents, Sabrina, Adrien, even my butler. They showed their support, but it's still hard."
"What?" Marinette asked. Chloé took a deep breath and revealed what she was hiding.
"I'm a lesbian." Chloé said, before looking away, bracing herself for what Marinette would say.
"That's it?" Marinette asked, confused. And that in turn confused Chloé.
"You don't think it's weird?" Chloé asked.
"Why would I?" Marinette asked, before adding. "If it makes you feel better, I'm bisexual." That surprised Chloé.
"You are?" Chloé asked, shocked that Marinette told her that.
"Yep." Marinette confirmed. "I pretty much discovered it when I was 13 years old. I always thought boys were cute and handsome and girls were beautiful and gorgeous. I asked my parents about it and they explained it to me. Did you discover your sexuality at that age too?"
"Yeah." Chloé said. "Whenever I was around boys, I could never get that feeling of love from them. I tried that with Adrien before but I don't think he was interested, and that's my fault. But whenever I was around girls, I would always get this feeling like my heart would break out of my chest."
"Nice to know that you're a lesbian, Chloé." Marinette said. "Is that what you wanted to tell me?"
"Partly." Chloé said. "The reason I wanted to come over is because..." Chloé took a deep breath. "there's a girl I've had my eye on for sometime, but I don't think she would ever want to go out with me."
"C'mon Chloé." Marinette said. "Have a little faith. I'm sure this girl is interested in you just as much as you are with her. Besides I've seen how much a better person you've become. I'm sure she'll say yes."
"Thanks for the advice, Marinette," Chloé said, "but I don't think that it'll work."
"Why?" Marinette asked. Chloé look at Marinette and said.
"Because she's sitting in front to me." Chloé said. Marinette's eyes widened, realizing that Chloé's crush was her.
"Me?" Marinette asked, to which Chloé nodded. "How? When?"
"I don't know exactly how." Chloé said. "But I guess, in some ways, I've always had a thing for you. You're so strong and steadfast. You don't let yourself fall victim to Akuma's, brave, pretty cute, and there are a lot of other things about you that make me go crazy thinking about."
With each complement Chloé gave, Marinette felt her heart beat faster and faster as if it would burst from her chest. She also reminisced on how much Chloé meant to her. A lot of times was mainly on when Chloé was a bully, causing a lot of Akuma's left and right. But then she reminded herself of the nice things that Chloé did ever since she gave her back her Miraculous. All the good things she done, how she showed remorse for her actions, and how much time she and Chloé spent together as friends instead of enemies. That's when she realized that she was in love with Chloé. Then she looked up and saw Chloé's face that now held sadness.
"But as I think about how much I love you, I'm also reminded of what I've done to you and others in the past." Chloé said, with sadness. "I'm sorry. Coming here was a mistake after all. I don't deserve your love." She stood up and walked up to the balcony.
Just as she was about to transform and fly away, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her stomach. She turned her head and saw Marinette, her chin resting on her shoulder.
"Please don't leave, Chloé." Marinette said. "I know what you've done in the past. All the people you hurt, all the Akuma's you caused. But I have chosen to forgive it and give you a second chance when I gave you back your Miraculous, and you are living up to this second chance. But the one thing you do not get to decide is whether or not I deserve your love. That's my choice, and right now I choose to give you my heart." She finished as she hands were now on Chloé's shoulders making an x on her chest.
This made Chloé's heart warm up as the one girl who she wanted to be with for so long said that she was choosing to love her back. She turned around in the embrace and placed her hands on Marinette's hips.
"C-can I... kiss you?" Chloé asked nervously.
"Y-yes." Marinette said, just as nervous.
Their foreheads were touching as their lips were lightly touching before they fully met. Both of them felt like they were on Cloud 9. Marinette felt Chloé's tongue poke at her mouth and she granted her access. After about a minute or two of making out, they separated and looked into each other's eyes lovingly.
"Can I be your girlfriend?" Chloé asked.
"Only if I can be yours." Marinette replied.
They both giggled at their questions before they agreed. Marinette rested her head on Chloé's chest as Chloé stroked her hair.
Present Day
"How much longer?" Marinette asked, looking at the currently being built prison and Chloé sighed.
"Daddy said that the frame and exterior will be finished by the end of the year." Chloé said. "And the interior and medical supplies will take another year." At this point, their Kwami's came out and rested on their shoulders.
"Wow, that looks like it's gonna be a huge prison." Pollen said.
"I'm surprised Paris even had the space to build it." Tikki replied.
"I'm surprised that it actually was accepted." Marinette said.
"Marinette," Chloé began, "I know how you feel about this. Trust me, everyone does. But right now, in the moments that it's not operational, instead of worrying about what will come, we focus on the time we have with everyone."
Marinette thought about it for a moment and realized that her girlfriend was right.
"You're right, Chloé." Marinette said. "I should be focusing on the good times with everyone, including you." She finished as she snuggled into Chloé's neck.
"Good." Chloé said. "Now, c'mon. Max had sent a text to everyone about some things he had been working on for a while since Gotham. I agreed for us to meet in my room since we have a bigger team than before. And after that, I've set a dinner reservation for us two."
"Aw Chloé, you didn't have to do that." Marinette said.
"I know, but I wanted to." Chloé said. "Besides, it's been a bit since we had a date."
They turned to walked away but Marinette looked back at the construction site one more time. She was determined to protect Paris, now more than ever.
Chloé's room
"So what have you been working on, Max?" Alya asked.
All the heroes were sitting on the couch, the floor, or were standing while their Kwami's were on the coffee table.
"As you all know," Max began, "our little trip to Gotham back on Winter Break was eventful, to say the least."
"That's an understatement." Trixx mumbled under her breath, but the other Kwami's heard her.
"But ever since then, I've been working on the equipment that Batman had given us." Max said.
"That's so cool." Alix said. "I still can't believe that you guys worked alongside the Batman."
"That's like super cool or whatever." Juleka said. Whenever she was out of costume, Juleka was still shy.
"Like I said," Max began, "I've been working on the gadgets Batman gave us. I have been working hard to make more for those of us who didn't any."
"Wow Max." Adrien said. "Sounds like you put a lot of effort into this."
"Yep." Max said. "But sadly, our glue grenades are out of commission." This surprised everyone.
"What?" Everyone but Max asked.
"Apparently, the compound that Batman found to complete it was unstable." Max said, holding a glue grenade capsule. "I tried my best to make sure it still works, but what was left of it degraded into dust."
"Aww man." Kim whined. "I liked using them."
"I know, and finding a suitable replacement has proven difficult." Max said.
"Well, I'm sure we can find something else in the meantime." Marinette said. "Speaking of which, have you been able to unlock any more secrets from the photos of the grimoire I sent you?"
"Partially." Max said. "How you managed to get your hands on something like these is beyond me."
"I have my ways." Marinette said.
"Yes, well I have been able to unlock a new power up for us." Max said, showing a photo of a past Ladybug in armor with what appeared to be fire on her hands. Everyone was amazed.
"The thermal power up." Tikki said. "That hasn't been used since the Ice Age."
"What does it do?" Rose asked.
"It allows the user to overheat and break any form of ice, from snow to icicles." Wayzz said. "In addition, it can also superheat your weapons and fists and feet should any of you fight close combat."
"Sadly, it doesn't appear to bust through thicker forms of ice like glaciers and huge walls." Tikki informed.
"Well, I'm certain that could be a useful power up in our future." Sabrina said.
"But it needs time to be made and a bit more to make enough for all of us." Max said.
"You'll get it." Marinette said.
"Well, if there's nothing else, I need to get ready for my date tonight with my boo." Chloé said, wrapping an arm around Marinette's waist.
"Chloé." Marinette whined, embarrassingly.
"It's cool, we get it." Ivan said
Everyone except Chloé and Marinette who stayed behind for a bit, went to the balcony and transformed into their costume.
"I still find it weird how those two got together." Rena Rouge said.
"C'mon Alya." Carapace said. "Everyone said that we would support them."
"I know, still weird though." Rena said. Then everyone took off.
Back inside, Marinette and Chloé were laying on the couch in a lover's embrace as they were talking. It's moments like this that Marinette realized how much more buff Chloé became. Not as much as the boys but enough. In fact, all of them had gotten a bit more muscular bye to training and working out outside the costume.
"Do...do you think we'll last for a long time?" Marinette asked, questioning their future together.
"Well, we literally save Paris together all the time, along with the others." Chloé said. "I think that's a decent indicator for compatibility."
That made Marinette smile. "I guess it is." Marinette said. Then she got up and walked to the balcony and transformed into Ladybug.
"I'll see you tonight for our date, sweetheart." Ladybug said, blowing a kiss.
"See you, baby." Chloé said. "Wear something nice."
Ladybug rolled her eyes as if she wasn't going to. Then she swung home to get ready for her date. As she was swinging, she still couldn't get her mind off the asylum that was being built. But for now, she would get ready for her date. Nothing will go wrong.
Unknown Location, 6 months later
A woman was being put in a tube and put into cryofreeze. A gloved hand lightly touched glass that separated the woman from the outside world. The gloved hand belong to someone who was in a suit that kept him alive as his skin was dark blue and cold to the touch. He pulled back his hand and vowed to make the person that didn't hold up his end of the deal they made before walking away.
Le Grand Paris, New Year's Eve
Currently, Chloé, who was in yellow dress with black highlights around the skirt along with some jewelry, was waiting for her girlfriend to show up. She had invited Marinette to an event for New Year's that her parents were hosting along with an award ceremony for a special individual.
"Hurry Marinette." Chloé muttered. "I know you have a reputation for being late, but damn."
"Sorry I'm late. Ran into some complications." A voice said behind her. Chloé turned and saw Marinette wearing a black suit and tie instead of a dress.
"Nice suit, Marinette." Chloé complemented.
"I had messed up the dress you gave me and I didn't have enough time to fix, so I had rent a tuxedo by mistake and..." Marinette tried to explain but was cut off by Chloé giving her a peck on her lips.
"It's fine." Chloé said. "Besides, you look great in a tux anyway."
"Thank you." Marinette replied. "You look cute in that dress."
"Thank you." Chloé said. "Now c'mon, it's time for the announcement."
"What is it?" Marinette asked.
"You'll see." Chloé said, as she led them to the ballroom.
A man was standing on a pedestal holding an award for humanitarian. This was Ferris Boyle, CEO of Gothcorp and had one built in Paris.
"People caring for people." Ferris said. "Compassion. That's the foundation that both my homeland of Gotham and Paris was built on. And I have proudly built GothCorp for Paris on that same foundation. That's why we're called, the People Company." There are cheers from the crowd as Ferris gets down. "Thank you so much. Please. No, thank you."
"So, who is he?" Marinette asked Chloé.
"That is Ferris Boyle." Chloé said. "Apparently, he helped with inventing cryo cooled technology that can preserve anything. Some have even called him a humanitarian."
"Wow." Marinette said.
"Indeed." A voice said. Marinette turned and saw Chloé's parents next to her. "We could always use more people like him."
"Ah, Mr. Mayor." Ferris said, coming up to the group and shaking the mayor's hand. "I want to thank you for hosting this event at your fabulous hotel."
"Thank you, Ferris for all you plan to do to help others."
"Ah, this must be your lovely wife, Audrey." Ferris said, kissing Audrey's hand.
"Indeed." Audrey said.
"And your daughter, Chloé." Ferris said, shaking hands with the younger Bourgeois. "And... who is this?" He asked, looking at Marinette.
"This is Marinette Dupain-Cheng, my girlfriend." Chloé said.
"Hello." Marinette said, waving her hand.
"Dupain-Cheng." Ferris wondered but remembered. "Does your family own a local bakery?"
"Yeah, my parents are the owners." Marinette confirmed.
"I went there the other day." Ferris said. "Best bread I ever had."
"Yeah, I hear that a lot." Marinette said.
"Well, it was good to meet you, Marinette." Ferris said, before walking off. Then, a lady was talking.
"All right, folks." The lady said. "It's 8 pm, four more hours until midnight, now grab yourself a partner because it's time to slow dance." She finished as she put on a slow song. Marinette and Chloé joined the crowd to dance as well. Marinette placed her hands on Chloé's hips and she placed her hands around Marinette's neck as they slowly started to sway back and forth.
"Thank you for coming, Marinette." Chloé said. "I'm sorry if things like this aren't you're thing, but I didn't want to spend it without you."
"It's fine." Marinette said. "So long as I'm with you, I can handle anything."
"Anything you say?" Chloé questioned, which Marinette nodded. Then Chloé whispered in her ear. "In that case, when it hits midnight, what do say you and me go to my room for some fun for the rest of the night?" Marinette's face was redder than a tomato at what just suggested. Before she could reply, she felt a cold breeze.
"Did your dad forget to turn on the heat?" Marinette said, shivering as she wrap her arms around herself to keep warm.
"No, I feel it too." Chloé said, shivering as well. She look around. "And we're not the only ones." Everyone had the same reaction.
"Did you forget to pay your heating bill, Mr. Mayor?" A woman on the podium asked.
Suddenly, there is a flash behind a group, throwing everyone back. Ice shards form as everyone scuttles away, screaming and running in panic. And then, men carrying guns began firing them off.
"Happy New Year everybody." One man said. His friends began rounding up guests.
From the same hole, a blue skinned man wearing a big suit and armed with some weapon walking inside. He swatted one man away, making him fly before aiming his gun and firing a blast of ice that froze him midair.
"Bring me Ferris Boyle!" The man said.
"Yes, Mr. Freeze." A thug said.
Both Marinette and Chloé saw this as a means to bring out their alter egos. They nodded at each other and quickly made their way to the elevator and quickly pressed the button to Chloé's floor. Mr. Freeze saw this and fired his freeze gun, but it was too late as the door closed in time with the ice hitting the door freezing it shut.
"Find whoever is in that elevator." Mr. Freeze ordered.
"Yes sir." The lead thug said. "You three, with me." They ran to the stairs to capture the girls.
I'm back, folks. So after careful consideration, I have chosen to do the Arkham Origins: Cold, Cold, Heart DLC. I wasn't going to originally, but people have been begging for it and I'm not pointing any fingers.
Also, yes. I made Marinette and Chloé a couple. Why? Reason 1: it's my story and I tells it how I want to. Reason 2: I've read another fanfic that had Marinette and Chloé as the couple and it got me real interested.
Another thing I wanted to point out. Sadly, Batman and a slew of other characters famous in the franchise will rarely appear or be mentioned. The only ones who will make constant appearances are the Gotham villains. Mainly because I want Team Miraculous to be the main heroes. If the way the rest of the series unfolds, then I will bring in a character or two for a story.
Silver lining, Batman will appear at the last chapter of the story along with someone who appeared in Arkham Knight: Season of Infamy missions. Try and guess who by the time of the final chapter and that someone will be mentioned.
So, here's the first chapter. I'll try not to make this story as long as my other.
As always, let me know your thoughts.
