Hey everyone, it's me again with another story. I would like to thank OrangeWorldMacaw and another friend of mine for encouraging me to make this story. It has been floating around in brain for some time, but now I have it all laid out. If you want some context on Talita, then I'd recommend reading my previous entry "The Interviews". Now let's get into the start of this story then, shall we?

(Amazon Wildlife Refuge)

(3 months after the loggers are defeated)

It was a beautiful, clear morning in the Spix's Macaw territory. Most of the birds around the area were out and about, either on their duties or hanging out with their friends.

One of these birds was diffrent of course as she was a Harpy Eagle named Talita. Alongside Roberto and some of his birds, she helped keep guard of the borders from any troublemakers or predators.

"Still feels kind of weird that we're working along side an eagle." One of Roberto's birds spoke up.

"Yeah. Usually they hunts us, but now this one's hunting alongside us." Another one continued on.

"If you have a problem with me, speak to Eduardo! I'm sure he'll be happy to hear!" Talita replied in an annoyed tone.

Both of the birds instantly shut their beaks and kept flying. Roberto had a disappointed look on his face, mostly because he liked Talita being an addition to his patrol.

"Look can you guys keep the disrespect to Talita out of your beaks? She was willing to help us and I don't want her to feel down!" Roberto shouted towards his macaws.

"Sorry sir! It won't happen again!" One of his birds spoke up.

After a bit more silence and flying, Talita landed on a branch nearby, unfolding a map she took out of her hoodie's pocket. Roberto swooped in next to her while his birds took up positions above the two.

"These circles are where we saw the hostile eagle last, if we split up we might find it." Talita pointed out on the map for Roberto.

"Sounds good. Alright birds, follow me! Good luck Talita!"

"You too Roberto!"

Him and his birds split off in one direction while Talita in the other. They both hoped to find this intruder before it causes casualties.

The female scanned around the surrounding trees for any sign of the intruder. A feather, some claw marks, anything that could help her...

"SOMEBODY! PLEASE HELP ME!"

A young voice screamed out from around the left of Talita. When she looked towards where it came from, she was in partial shock. It was the Eagle she was looking for and it was currently trying to fully force its way into a tree hollow.

She instantly sprang into action, diving down towards the eagle with her talons out. Once they made contact she mercilessly scratched, tearing out feathers and making large scratches on it's skin.

"GET AWAY FROM THERE YOU SONUVA BITCH!"

"AHHHH! YOU BASTARD! THESE BIRDS ARE MY KILL, NOT YOURS!"

The Eagle's voice confirmed it was a male and he wouldn't give up without a fight. Thankfully after about a minute of ferocious talon slashing, he decided to fly away to heal his new wounds.

"YOU GOT LUCKY THIS TIME MISSY! NEXT TIME I WON'T BE CAUGHT OFF--"

He was cut off when a vine trap suddenly tangled him up. Roberto and his birds jumped in and fully made sure the eagle's beak was fully shut by tying a smaller bit of vine around it.

"We got you now you piece of shit! We'll take care of him Talita!"

The female nodded before peering into the hollow. What she was was horrible. Two dead Spix's Macaws that were recent victims for the wild Harpy. These kills were recent and Talita blamed herself, she could have gotten here sooner.

"Shit. How am I going to break this to Eduardo..." She whispered to herself, a twinge of guilt in her tone.

Something then caught her eye. A head of Spix's Macaw chick slightly peeped out of a hole in the back, looking at her. From the size it looked like they were 2-3 years old.

"Hey there little one. It's ok, the bad bird's gone." She calmly replied before getting closer.

The chick ducked her head in, it was safe to say it was terrified.

"Are you a bad bird? The voice called out, which confirmed the chick was a girl.

"No, I'm a good bird. I chased away the bad bird trying to get you. Some of my friend have caught him."

The chick fully raised her head out. She had tears streaming down her cheek, tears of utter fear...

"Come with me. I'll make sure you're safe." Talita whispered while stretching her wings out.

The chick instanly flew into her wings before being put into a hug. The little girl then started uncontrollably crying into the adult's chest. Talita carried the chick with her onto the branch outside and stood there for what seemed like ten minutes.

She pondered a hard question during that time: what was she going to do with this little chick in her wings...

What a depressing start to a story. I'll admit I kind of cried myself when I came up with this chapter. Usually stories here start off on a happy note, but not this one... Thankfully it will slowy but surely get better with the ones that follow. See you all in chapter 2!
