AN: okay I got this idea from a picture on here's the site to check it out. I got permission from the artist to do a one shot fanfic for this picture cause I thought it was so cute. Anyway.. Here it is.

It was Valentine's Day and Shikamaru was searching all over the village for Ino. He didn't want to admit it but he had something to give her. Sighing he was about to give up he turned and came face to face with Ino herself.
"Hiya, Shika. What are you doing?" she asked.
Shikamaru rubbed the back of his head. "I have… something to give you. Here," he said as he placed a gold heart shaped locket in her hand. On the surface of the locket, Ino, was engraved into the gold.
"Shikamaru… this is beautiful. Thank you," said Ino as she looked at the necklace.
Shikamaru looked away a slight blush on his cheeks. "Yeah, well… Normally I think gift giving is a drag… Buy I was walking down the street and just happened to walk into this store and just happened to have the exact amount of money and it coincidentally had your name on it…" He was such a bad liar.
Ino giggled and pulled out a box. "Here," she said as she handed it to him.
"You… got me something?" asked Shikamaru.
Ino smiled. "Yeah, I've been meaning to give it to you for a while. Just open it."
Shikamaru took the box from her and opened it only… the box was empty.
"Uh… Ino? I know you're a blonde and all," started Shikamaru and Ino twitched at the statement, "but did you even realize," he looked up at her, "this box is empt-"
Ino smirked at him and quickly kissed Shikamaru without warning and before he could finish his statement. Shikamaru out of pure shock dropped the box as his face turn beat read. Ino pulled back and smiled at him.
"Happy Valentine's day Shika," smiled Ino and hugged him.
Shikamaru scratched his cheek. "Heh, troublesome," he said but hugged her back none the less.
