A Light In The Darkness...

There was a hush in the voices as Shizuka entered the classroom. There always was...
"Late again, ." The teacher huffed with a shift of his reflective glasses and the taunting voices began-
"OoOoOoOoOoH~!" followed by the multitudes of laughter and snickering.
"Yes, I understand but I assure you, there's a good reason-"
"Reason or not does not excuse you to to be late to my class as often as you are." the teacher huffed with a heavy sigh, "Should you be late again- I'm afraid I simply must give you detention. It's unfair to other stidents otherwise..."
"I- But-"
"Take your seat please."
"Ah...yes sir..."
Shamefully she hung her head, a dusting of crimson to her cheeks as the students all took to a fit of giggling.
There were a few students however..., a small group of friends, that never did.
"Jeez...that Shizuka girl is kinda weird isn't she?" Tristan mumbled.
"Yeah and she's always late too." said Joey, I wonder what the heck it is that keeps her so late all the time."
"You guys are really rude! Shh!" Tea hushed them.
"Yeah come on guys, everyone has their own troubles, you know." Yugi chuckled, "I bet she's nice if we just take the chance to talk to her."
"Yeah...IF she gives us the chance to talk to her..." Joey mumbled and Tristan nodded in agreement. Yugi couldn't help a sheepish smile...though they weren't completely off base. Shizuka wasn't really one for much talking or socializing. Her wine colored hair was long and draped over half her face, making it hard to see, but she always had exhaustion in her clear blue eyes...Not many people noticed...since she kept to herself and wasn't really close to anyone in her class...
Though...
There was one student who always did.

"Ms. Shizuka!" A soft accented fellow approached the girl during the recess as she hid away by the vending machince sipping her matcha. She blinked and gave a slight glance to acknowlege the voice who called to her.
"Oh, hey you're...The new student." she said softly and blinked, "Bakura Ryou...right?"
"Hey, that's right!" he smiled softly.
Ryou Bakura was a new student and was already making an impression on the girls at school. Not that Shizuka could blame them, even she found him to be rather handsome. Perhaps it was due to him being foreign...who's to say? But as popular as he was already...he was talking to her, and Shizuka hadn't the foggiest why.
But he always seemed to make the time.
"Ah...what's this?" She asked softly as he handed over a notebook."
"These are the notes you missed while you were running late today." he said to her softly, "I took extra, and copied some for you, so you wouldn't fall behind."
"I see..." she said softly, "Thank you..."
A commotion began from outside the classroom.
"Looks like Yugi and Joey are going to duel again!" they muttered, "Let's go watch."
"Ah- Yugi and Joey are at it again, I see." Bakura chuckled and turned to her, this time offering out his hand, "Come on then, want to come watch?"
"Oh- Ah..." she blushed softly. She thought for a moment, about taking it, but in a matter of moments, decided against it.
"No...that's okay." she said softly, "I actually have somewhere I need to be soon...I wouldn't want to get lost in the rush and forget about my appointment."
"Oh...I see." Bakura blinked and gave a soft sigh, "No, I suppose you're right, we indeed wouldn't want that, would we?" he said and granted her a soft smile, though, he seemed disappointed, "Though Ms. Shizuka...pardo my saying so- but you look fairly exhausted." he said to her, "Do try to take care of yourself, hm?"
She couldn't help herself, feeling a soft heat in her cheeks. It wasn't often that anyone showed much kindness to her...
"I will..." she said softly, "Thank you for the notes."
Bakura didn't say anything after that. He just simply smiled at her, appreciating her gratitude as he watched her turn away.

Bakura did wind up joing the pow-wow surrounding around Yugi and Joey as they played a card game.
Duel Monsters.
Yugi seemed to be teaching Joey how to play, and the blonde was catching on fairly quickly...however, while everyone was getting excited watching the small student crush the tall blonde in another round. Bakura's head wasn't really on the game. Instead...it was focused on the girl he spoke with earlier that day...
The Geek.
The Freak.
The Girl That Has No Friends...
The very same girl that he caught through the class room window, all but running her way out of the school gate.
"Huh?" Bakura blinked as he continued to watch her, "Where is she going so fast? And...why is she in such a hurry?"
He wondered this out loud- though no one heard him. That was the thing with Bakura. He could be the center of everyone's attention, but at the same time, he can be just as invisible. It made slipping away unnoticed a fairly easy feat.
Where is she going?
He wondered as he followed from a safe distance behind.
Could it be the reason she's always so late all the time...?
He kept his distance, so she wouldn't notice him, with curiosity as his compass, he followed her all the way to her destination...that of which, took him by surprise.
A soft gasp of shock and awe escaped him as he watched her wander into the looming building before her.
"Why on earth...would Ms. Shizuka, be rushing off to a Hospital...?"
