Sup guys? Lighting Wolf here, back with another story, this one about Red vs Blue. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own RvB, Rooster Teeth does.
Carolina was used to death. She had killed PLENTY of people in her time as a Freelancer.
"Epsilon?" Carolina questioned to her AI as she slowly swept her BR across the snow-covered battlefield.
There were several bodies laid down in the snow. She could tell several were the 'Space Pirates' that she had been hunting. Their grey armor was a dead giveaway.
"Damn, this was a blood bath." Epsilon said and hummed a moment, cracking his fingers. "I'm detecting about a dozen armor signatures… Most of them dead, one isn't." Epsilon stated while Carolina brought up her rifle.
She advanced towards the signature on her radar. She made sure the majority of the dead bodies stayed dead on the ground. Carolina sighed seeing the natives laid across the floor. Epsilon had told her these soldiers were in a civil war which the pirates were involved in.
"Native or pirate?" Epsilon heard Carolina questioned while she took cover against a burning warthog. "Who is it, Church? There's about a dozen different bodies here." Carolina stated, stopping to check everything around her.
Epsilon was silent a moment. The signature had to be falsified, a pirate trick to confuse the natives during battle. The signature was both one of the native and mixed with one from Project Freelancer.
Maybe something slipped, a moment later the signal was sent to Carolina's HUD. She blinked and then vaulted over the warthog while exchanging her rifle for her magnum. The weapon was her signature armament, lightweight, easy to aim, a decent clip size and it would put a hole clean through someone's helmet.
She was quite curious as to what another freelancer was doing here. The project was dead, was it Wash? No. Carolina had heard the radio chatter which indicated the natives didn't know where their prisoners were. She intercepted a small transmission which told her that they had captured Wash and some of her friends.
But that still begged the question of WHAT another freelancer was doing with these natives. She had checked and there were still at least 33 agents unaccounted for besides her and Wash.
"Epsilon, tell me this is a joke." Carolina stated as she looked around at the various bodies. "Tell me that isn't a right signature." Carolina added while she took cover at the wall.
"It's freelancer, Carolina." Epsilon said while letting out an electronic hum at this. "I just don't know WHAT it is, it seems modified with the native's signature. I don't know if it's because he's trying to blend in or they hired it. Damn, it's odd." Epsilon stated with a blink which caused his visor to flash with a blue light.
Carolina looked at the bodies of the natives. A freelancer among them? Had the pirates recruited one for their forces? A special soldier was equal to dozens of regular ones. It was why they were hired as mercenaries. STILL? What the hell was one doing here besides Wash and her?
"Epsilon… Church, where is it?" Carolina questioned before pausing to shoot a pirate that looked like they were grabbing their rifle. "Activate camouflage." Carolina ordered as she peeked out of cover.
"Straight ahead, I can see it fading slightly." Carolina heard from Epsilon. "It's wounded, pirates must have found him before…" Epsilon stated before Carolina blinked.
A glint of light was heard while the object rolled towards her. Carolina rolled to the side as it exploded, showering the area with shrapnel all over the area. Carolina turned and rushed forward, Epsilon automatically kicking in her sprint module at the moment.
A bullet rang out across the makeshift graveyard, showing her a glint of a rifle. The shooter was wounded and the bullet went several yards to the right. Carolina could tell that the shooter was still good enough to suppress her.
She had a thousand different thoughts in her mind, curious about where this wayward soldier had been when she thought more on it. Still? She couldn't allow those thoughts on the matter to get herself killed.
Another shot, only for her to turn and see that it had been directed at a shape behind her. Carolina vaulted up to the ledge and was greeted by the wounded Freelancer who she was surrounded by several native soldiers.
