If you have not done it yet, please go and fully read Grimm Heir written by DeadRich18. His story is fantastic and amazing. I am merely trying to keep this story alive in my own way. Now, I highly I doubt I'll be able to please everyone with my version of the story (given how I got a lot of flak when I was given the keys to the story by DeadRich18 himself and everyone didn't seem to like my take on the story).
But I am going to do my best to tell a story to all who care about this story still. I will do my absolute best to not disappoint you all.
Alright, enough talk, let's get on with the story. Please enjoy the first chapter of Grimm Wars!
Grimm Wars
Chapter One: Escaping the Vale - I
Her eyes fluttered open slowly.
There to greet her was a pale ceiling of dull blue. And the sound of something tapping on glass reached her ears. After a few more times of opening and closing her eyes, she turned her head to the source of the sound.
Yang found a cracked window with raindrops sliding down and hitting the glass as it fell from the heavens above. Gray clouds covered the sky. By her best guess by the way it looked outside, it was mid-day on a rainy day.
Yang tried sitting up, but a throbbing pain on the right side of her ribcage quickly stopped her. Thinking quickly, she channeled her Aura to numb the pain and try to heal the damage she sustained. Her mind was hazy at first, but then it all came back to her in a flash of pain in her head.
Her fight against the damned Monster, the damage she got from it, and finally her sister protecting her at the last second.
Moving her right arm to hold her left, she narrowed her eyes in frustration. She was the one who was meant to save her sister from that Monster, not the other way around.
Did Ruby make some kind of deal with the Monster? Did she promise to return to it without a fight if it spared her sister?
She sighed out her frustration. Not like she could do anything about it now…
But Gods above, it hurt her heart knowing she failed... again. Failed to keep her baby sister safe for a second time. Twice now, she had failed to keep her sister away from that Monster! She hates herself for it!
But before she could give herself a bigger mental whipping, the cold feeling she was having brought her back to the here and now. She was freezing!
And a quick look at herself told why as well.
With the blanket that was covering her fallen away, she could see that all her had on her right now were bandages. They covered her bust, her left arm, and her forehead. Looking underneath the blanket, she also saw she only had her underwear on at the moment. Someone must have stripped her to check for injuries. While she was glad someone found her, a light blush came to her face at the thought of them seeing her twins without a bra.
With her Aura now fully kicked in, she no longer felt like she needed her bandages and thus began to remove them all. She stood up from the bed and quickly got to work removing the cloth wrappings around her head, arm, and bust. It took her about two minutes to get rid of them. During that time, she took in her current state of being.
Her left arm got the most abuse from that fight. And while the cuts on her arm have fully healed thanks to her Aura and the bandages, she could already tell that there will be some noticeable scars.
Oh well. Better than having to lose the whole arm or something similar. Besides, it was the scars you couldn't see that hurt leagues more.
That just left one last question for her. Where was her savior?
Bark! Bark!
Yang's head snapped over to the sound quickly, only to find a familiar little black and white corgi wagging his tail at her. A happy smile upon his canine face.
"Zwei?" she asked, completely shocked to see the dog here.
She was about to walk over to the dog, when the sound of running feet came from the door to the room. Within seconds, the door bursts open to reveal another familiar face. There stood Rojo Toro, with concern on her face and his combat knife in hand in case something was wrong.
Within seconds, even as it seemed like time slowed to a crawl, both faces of Yang Xaio Long and Rojo Toro slowly became beat red in embarrassment. But just before a shrill scream of said embarrassment could escape the blonde's mouth, a strong hand suddenly covered her lips and silenced the scream off in an instant.
Yang's eyes popped open to see Rojo literally in front of her. To her shock, the sharpshooter was also wrapping his arm around her waist, pulling her extra close. Then, before she could fully react, Rojo pushed the blonde until they were both against the wall of the room near the window. The whole time, Yang's eyes were wide in shock and her face was flush red with embarrassment.
That was the case, until she noticed Rojo's face. While it was slightly red, his eyes were not focused on her. They were looking out the window next to the two of them. It was here that Rojo put a finger to his lips while glancing at Yang.
Quickly putting two and two together, Yang nodded her head, understanding that she needed to stay quiet. Trying to ignore the fact that her exposed breasts were pressed against the gunslinger, Yang remained silent, waiting for Rojo to release his hold on her.
After a full minute that felt like an hour, Rojo sighed and let go of the blonde while backing away from her.
He gave her a 'I'm sorry' look before he started whispering, "If you are going to pumble me for what I just did, do it later please. We gotta get out of here first." he said.
She nodded, but had to ask the question, "How bad is it outside?" she whispered back.
Rojo said nothing at first, just shook his head as his face started to turn more red. As he spoke, he placed a hand over his face, trying to cover his eyes in a semi-face palm.
"First, please put some clothes on." the marksmen said quietly.
Remembering she was basically naked, Yang quickly covered her boobs with her arms. Her own face was red as ketchup, but she had a small smile on her face. She glanced back at Rojo and saw that he had brought in two suitcases. He set them on the bed before turning his back to her again to give the girl some privacy.
"These are some clothes I found around the hotel," he said while trying to not make a loud noise, "I'm not sure if any of them fit you, but… it's better then nothing, right? Just take your pick."
Yang's smile grew slightly as she walked over to Rojo.
Then, without a second thought, she wrapped her arms around his chest and hugged him, no longer caring if her twins were touching him or not. He went stiff for a moment, but after about ten seconds, the young man relaxed and placed one of his hands over Yang's.
"That's twice you saved me now…" she said quietly, "Back at Mountain Glenn, and now here… thank you..."
They stood there like that for about a minute before Rojo stepped away and turned to face Yang. Then, he wrapped his own arms around her, pulling her into a hug of his own. They held each other for a time, neither speaking a word, yet somehow at the same time, saying all the things that needed to be said at the moment. Yang knew that Rojo was trying to apologize for the things he said to her and what he almost did to her back when she finally held Ruby for the first time.
And Yang was trying to apologize to him for abandoning her team in favor of going after her sister and the monster. That was not a smart move on her part, and she knew full well she was in for an ear-full of lectures from Weiss and a cold shoulder from Blake for a while. Maybe even a lecture from Rojo when they got out of there too. But for now, she believes this was more than enough to say: 'I'm sorry.' in a unique way.
It wasn't until a loud, but thankfully far off roar from the outside brought them back to the present.
Rojo let go and walked over to the window to look outside and check on the situation. Taking the chance, Yang got started going through the clothes Rojo provided to her. She quickly found some clothes that fit her and most importantly… found a bra her size.
She slipped it on, covering up her twins finally.
Now, despite how she liked to act, a tomboy of sorts, she had never let anyone ever see that much of her skin before in her life. Making Rojo Toro the first guy to see her boobs, ever. And oddly, she was okay with it.
She shook her head. 'Not the time for that!' she told herself mentally.
She took a pair of tight black pants and slipped them on. She then pulled a dark-orange tank top over her head and pulled it down. She then found a pair of brown boots and put them on, while throwing on a brown and tan rain jacket and a pair of brown fingerless gloves. To complete the look, she found a purple cloth and tied it around one of her legs to add some personal flair.
Now fully clothed, she turned back to her remaining gauntlet of her Ember Celica set over on a nightstand. She grabbed it and slid it over her wrist and activated it. When it took its combat form, she cocked it back once to check it over. Now she was ready. But, with one of her beloved gauntlets now gone (reduced to a crumpled-up ball of metal) she'll be on the defensive mostly.
At least she still had ammo for her weapon still.
She turned back to the marksman, who was still watching out the window.
Yang walked over to Rojo and tapped him on the shoulder, he turned to her and she nodded her head.
"I'm ready." she whispered, "What's the plan?"
Rojo glanced back to the outside as he spoke, "First, we need to get to your bike and drive. Then, we have to make one more stop before leaving Vale." he explained as quietly as possible.
When Yang raised a brow at his plan, he explained.
"I am out of ammo, aside from a single grenade." he growled out, "We have to make a pitstop at the nearest weapon shop and borrow supplies if there are any."
"And if there isn't?" she asked worryingly.
Rojo sighed, "Then I am screwed." he said bluntly.
Looking out the window, Yang managed to take in the area around the hotel. And recognition clicked with her. Now that she could see in the cloudy day light, she knew this area!
"I know where a weapon shop is around here," she told her leader, who looked at her with a shocked expression, "it's just a few blocks down the street, north from here."
Rojo's shock was replaced with a grin on his face, "Alright, you lead, I'll follow you."
Yang smiled back at him, then grew a cheeky grin of her own, "Got it, but you carry Zwei."
"Deal."

About ten minutes had passed since the trio had made it back to Yang's motorcycle, Bumblebee. Yang was driving at maximum speed, trying to avoid the ruined cars and upturned street roads. While at the same time, trying her best not to rev the Dust engine too high. Any louder and the Grimm would be able to home in on them in no time.
Although, that didn't really seem to matter too much as the Grimm seemed more interested in ripping each other to pieces.
The whole time they drove through the empty, broken streets of Vale, Grimm of all sizes were going at it with one another. Ursa, Beowolves, Nevermores, Death Stalkers, all of them were preoccupied with murdering each other and hardly if at all paying the two teens any mind.
Not saying that there weren't a few who did turn their attention to them, but they were so few and far between, Yang didn't have much trouble using her remaining gauntlet to blast them to pieces.
After about another two minutes, they finally reached their destination.
Yang brought her bike to a skidding halt right in front of the weapon shop she had told him about. Rojo glanced up at the crooked and damaged sign which stated the shop's name.
'The Dust Powder Keg'
"Well," Yang said, looking at the broken windows, "I don't think we'll find much after all… it looks pretty much raided already."
Rojo had to nod his head in agreement with the blonde.
Even from where he had got off the bike from, he could already tell that the gun displays were broken into. A lot of them were empty of weapons. However, a shop this big should have a weapon vault of some kind. And Rojo could still see some Dust ammunition inside the store on the floor. And that is exactly what he needed at the moment.
"We'll have to make sure." he said to his friend.
Yang turned to him and nodded before turning her head downward to the little black and white corgi at her feet.
"Zwei," she told the dog, "If you see any Grimm coming our way, start barking, okay?"
After getting a single bark of confirmation from the canine, Rojo and Yang entered the store carefully through the broken glass window.
Inside was a mess. To make matters worse, there were a few blood stains on the floor, indicating signs of a fight. The marksman kept his hand of his combat knife holstered on his back waist, ready for something to jump out at him. He slowly approached the end of the counter… and stopped dead in his tracks.
Even from where he stood, he saw the foot of the possible shop owner, dead. He didn't need to check any further than that. The large pool of cold blood was all the evidence he needed to know for sure.
Rojo turned his head the other way and, despite knowing that there was a body inside the store, his heart started to fill with hope, if a bit of dread to go with it on the side. There stood an untouched four-foot by three-foot ammo-locker, with a bloody handprint on the door, and a blood-stained key in the lock.
Acting on a hunch that the owner couldn't open his locker in time to save himself, Rojo swallowed a lump in his throat and turned to Yang, who was looking around the store for any other signs of weapons to use.
"Yang, can you do me a favor?" he asked, getting her attention, "Gather up all the ammo on the floor, please. We need as much as we can get right now."
With a nod, Yang got to work.
With the blonde working on gathering ammo, Rojo turned back to the locker. He walked over to it and crouched down to its level. He reached up to the key and turned it slowly, hearing it click. Now unlocked, the marksman grabs ahold of the handle and opens the metal door up.
Inside was something that made the gunman stare in awe.
On the top shelf of the inside was a large pistol, a revolver to be exact. The black grip and dark gray steel of the chamber and gun barrel shing in what little light there was. Next to the gun were three small boxes of unused Dust rounds that he had to guess had to be for the revolver. On the bottom of the locker was a mixture of different types of Dust rounds, from AP to HE rounds.
Reaching inside, Rojo pulled out the revolver and looked it over. Now getting a better look at it, he could now tell what type of gun it was. It was a fifty caliber, Five-Hundred Bone Crusher. A five-chamber revolver that was capable of blowing a Beowolf's head clean off in a single shot. Only a handful of these weapons were made before they stopped production of them nearly ten years ago. They were collectables across Remnant.
Even more rare was the custom-made muzzle flash on the end of the barrel. This thing was a rare find.
Taking a moment, Rojo glanced back at the body to his back. It was a man in his mid-thirties. But it was hard to tell, his head and chest were half eaten. Ribcage totally exposed and there was no eyeball in the left socket. But his whole attire screamed gunsmith and shop owner all rolled into one. It left Rojo with a bad test in his mouth to simply take something from the dead like this.
But he knew that if he didn't take it now, he'd die later down the road. At least it'll increase his chances of survival if he has it. So, after a moment's pause, Rojo noded to the body and sent his mental apology to the shop keeper for taking something of his.
The marksman turned back to the locker and took out the three boxes and placed them in front of him. He opened one box and loaded five rounds of armor piercing Dust shells into the revolver. Giving it the once over, he spun the revolver's chamber before clicking it closed. Once finished, he grabbed the remaining boxes and stood up.
Looking back at Yang, he found that she had a medium sized bag filled with ammunition and was holding it over her shoulder. With a sigh, she turned to him and nodded, before noticing the large revolver in his hand.
"Damn, cowboy," she said, clearly impressed, "what is that?"
Rojo smiled at her reaction, "This is a Five-Hundred Bone Crusher." he explained, holding the gun up to show the blonde, turning it one way and the other.
Yang gave a long whistle, before stopping and giving him a questionable look, "Gonna name it?" she asked.
The gunman paused for a moment at the question as he glanced at the weapon. After a moment of thinking, a name came to mind that made sense given the situation they were in.
"Well," she stated, "I was thinking something kinda like... Lawmaker."
Yang thought about the name for a moment before nodding at it, "Yeah, that sounds good." she said, smiling at her friend.
BARK! BARK! BARK!
Both tensed up and quickly spun around to look back outside at Zwei, who was barking at the sky. Rojo and Yang ran back outside and followed Zwei's gaze. At first, neither of them saw anything, but they did hear something in the distance.
Vur-vur!
The sound was far off and neither of them could see the source of the noise, but Rojo knew immediately what it was. And it made his blood run cold at the thought of running into it out here.
"Okay…" he said, getting Yang's attention, "We gotta go!"
"What? What is it?" she asked, not following what was happening.
Rojo turned to the blonde with worry on his face, "Remember when me and Blake were obsessively looking for clues on the White Fang and Grimm for those few days back at Beacon?"
She nodded.
"While I was studying an encyclopedia called 'Grimoar of Grimm', it talked about a newly discovered type of Grimm that makes that type of noise." he explained at he moved to Yang's bike, "And if we run into it here, we might be in trouble. So please, get on and start driving." he gestured to the motorcycle in a hurried manner.
Taking the sign that they needed to get out of there, Yang nodded, handed him the bag of ammo and got on, starting the engine. Rojo quickly joined her, getting on the back seat while placing the bag in front of him and loading Red Redemption as quickly as possible. Zwei jumped onto the front of Yang and as soon as he was on, Yang clutched the throttle, and they took off.
As the wind rushed past his face, Rojo shouted over the roar of the engine to give the blonde brawler directions.
"Head for Vale's northern gate! And keep going north!"
"Gotcha!" she responded, gunning the engine as far as it could go.
With that done, Rojo turned back to the sky behind them.
Vur-vur!
The sound came again and, sure enough, it was louder than last time. It was tracking them, dammit! He kept scanning the skies for-!
Vur-vur!
There! A single black shape in the sky at their eleven o-clock! It was diving in at them fast!
Quickly pulling out Red Redemption, Rojo Toro opened fire at the diving Grimm.
They were finally escaping the Fallen Kingdom of Vale.
Author's Note:
Aaaaaaaaand, cliffhanger! There will be an awesome battle scene in part two of this two-part chapter! As for what Grimm they will be fighting, I'll give you all the details in the coming chapter's Grimm Bio, but I'll leave you all a hint to work with at least.
Hint: The creature they'll be fighting was inspired by a Sci-Fi book that came out in 1990, which got adapted into a 'TV Movie' in 2005.
That's all you get for now. Have an awesome day all! Peace out!
