Summary: Izuku Midoriya gets The Gamer ability. He gets a Harry Dresden File DLC. Chaos ensues.

"Nope." The green fluffy haired thirteen-year-old boy said cheerfully. "It's not real. Not happening. Goodbye figment of my imagination."

He swiped his hand through a holographic illusion only he could see. It rippled like a body of water before disappearing into the air in pixels. Another ripple and it appeared again.

Annoyance flashed across his face before he sighed. "Quirks are bullshit. I should be happy, but knowing my luck..."

His head rolled on the pillow and stared at his shelf. Thirteen journals sat there innocently. A headache was starting to form.

He laid there on his bed and looked at the screen in front of him. A white screen with black lettering with a green border faced him. He sat up and it moved with him so he could easily see them.

Congratulations!

Your Quirk Awakened!

You are 13!

Reluctantly Izuku attempted to hit a small x in the upper right corner and his finger went through it. A small amount of pressure was applied to his finger. Another message popped up.

Would you like to accept the

Tutorial Manual!

Yes? No?

Izuku pressed the Yes button and yelped as a thick journal appeared in his lap without warning.

"What the Katsudon? Is this real?" The boy muttered as he poked the book.

He could feel the texture of the cardboard cover and the paper in his hands as he flipped to the first page. The smell of a new book hit him. Then his finger started to sting.

A light papercut formed on his right pointer finger. He rubbed his thumb and pointer together. The pain was real.

He grabbed the book in his left hand and got up carefully not wanting any blood to drip on his All Might sheets. The boy slowly staggered to his desk tiredly before placing the book down and getting a band aid in a small filing cabinet by his desk. Izuku sat at his desk for a moment.

His alarm for school would go off in six more hours. The sun had set only a few short hours ago after having a birthday dinner with his mom. Now he couldn't sleep even if he tried.

It wasn't even a consideration. A new Quirk to study? His own Quirk at that? How would he be able to sleep without answers.

The light from the streets were just enough to get to the desk. Not enough to write though so he twisted the small knob to a desk lamp on. A light hum escaped his lips as he pulled out an extra journal that he labeled Quirk Notes 1.

The first page was an index that held the titles of different chapters. Before he could flip through the pages and read, he was startled by another notification. The boy yelped.

Due to your Parents, you have Unlocked the following:

Gravity Magic, Fire Magic

Spells: Push, Pull, Ignite

Due to your Natural Luck Stat, you have Unlocked and Installed:

The Harry Dresden File DLC

Magic Manipulation, Mind Magic

Spells: Third Sight, Magic EMP,

Magical Senses, Soul Gaze

Green eyes widened and Izuku smiled. He had gained something from his parents. It was a welcome surprise.

He frowned. Did he just jinx himself earlier? Maybe it was a good thing? Somehow, he doubted that.

It took a moment to clear the thoughts from his head before he put the book down. He turned on his computer for a moment before he smelled smoke. Izuku's eyes lit up as his computer started to smoke and the light bulb flickered.

The teen rushed to his window and lifted it up. Slowly the smoke left and Izuku stared with annoyance. He stared at his phone with worry.

It wasn't like his phone would break also. Right? That was when he saw he saw the sparks and he could smell the stench of burning wire.

Everyone who saw him, even his family and former childhood friend knew him to be positive. Of course, he attempted to be positive. That was all when and good until he spiraled in his thoughts of being a Deku and everybody passing by him on the road of life.

So naturally he was a pessimistic person who forced himself to show a optimistic vibe. As some people say: Fake it till you make it.

Like when he seriously thought about how much Katsuki Bakugou would never be a Hero because of his narcissistic, egotistical, God complex that made him bully anything below him yet still was proclaimed to be the best. Or how he passed the mock exams, and everyone laughed at the possibility that he could get into U.A.

Maybe he shouldn't think along those thoughts anymore.

Maybe he woke up on the wrong side of the bed today...Who was he kidding? He always had this cynical side to himself.

"Yup. Quirks are crazy. I should probably wait until daylight." He winced as his phone screen glitched before dying.

The boy muttered up a storm as a headache started to form. "Maybe I should read a little more. What if this electric problem is because of the DLC? That would make sense. I can't just have a Quirk without a consequence. It should be relatively simple right? Maybe it's within a radius or is it a diameter? "

He sighed. He walked to the wall and unplugged the cord to his phone. "I wonder if this Dresden person challenges or tempts fate?"

Pinching the bridge of his nose he decided to grab the Tutorial Manual before also grabbing his chair so he could sit next to the window. He would have to take notes tomorrow he thought as he let out a yawn.

The first page made him blink. It had twelve chapters labeled in the Index. The Status Menu, Skills, Magic, Inventory, Garage, Shop, Map, Dungeons, Quests, Faction Notes, Monster Notes, and last but not least was a section highlighted called Relations.

Turning the Index page had him looking at a page that had the word Warning in bold black letters. Izuku turned the next page to see that it was a very short summary of The Harry Dresden Files.

The Harry Dresden File DLC Summary:

Fight your way through powerful foes that Harry Dresden fought as you Investigate the world

You can find yourself battling The Faerie courts, Werewolves, Vampire Courts, Ghouls, Necromancers, and more.

Izuku stared at it. "Well. That definitely does not have some very ominous tones as to what my Quirk is trying to tell me."

A quick look through at the Stats Menu chapter was easy enough to understand.

Stats could be upgraded at any time. Any level up, when fatally wounded or just injured, would heal any injury or disease. He could use his mind or summon the menu through speech. Each level up he would gain three Status Points.

In battle three bars would show. A Health, Mana, and Stamina bar would be to his right side. They would have the colors red, blue, and yellow respectively.

Health Points would be given each level up and through titles. Over time they would naturally regenerate slowly unless he gained a Skill or Title.

Mana was something that was affected by two other Stats, both Wisdom and Intelligence. Intelligence increased the amount of Mana. Wisdom dealt with an increase of the growth rate of magic.

Stamina was simply a byproduct of a Stat called Endurance.

The other stats were exactly what he thought they were. Strength, Speed, and Luck.

Lucks description made him groan.

Luck: This helps with the chance to do critical hits, earn treasure chests and rewards, while also likely finding higher leveled Bosses, Monsters, Villains, and Criminals in different places.

Skills were separate from Magic for a reason. Skills would drain Stamina. Each Skill had a rank that could be given to it ranging from Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic.

They could be taught from others or learnt through Skill Books. Skill Books would be destroyed if used to directly integrate knowledge into the user. All Skills could be leveled up to a hundred which was the max.

When he got to the section for Magic, he grew excited. Magic was separated into a wide variety of areas. Magic sections branched out due to the number of Spells mastered to level one hundred.

Magic was not able to be taught. It was dangerous due to it being able to affect Health, Mana, and Stamina. Magic could come from the environment or from within.

The only way to unlock Magic sections was to complete Dungeons. Spells could be gained from fallen enemies within Dungeons.

Most Spells could be done using Mana, or rather the energy that he could hold from the environment. Stamina could be used with or separate from Mana to overcharge or focus Spells. If both Mana and Stamina were drained it would decrease Health and gain a status effect.

Spells, after certain levels could gain Ranks. Those Ranks were Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert, and Master. Each Rank up of a Spell would increase potency he would be able to summon with Mana and Stamina along with the ways he could utilize the Spell.

Izuku took a moment to wrap his head around the concept. Each Spell he gained could potentially be extremely powerful in its own right. He needed to look at the Spells he had in his arsenal when he didn't have a headache.

The Inventory had two sections. The first was a Quick Select option that would replace his clothes with the selected equipment. It allowed him to save an outfit he wore.

The other section was a basic Inventory in RPG games that had three tabs that housed ten by ten slots. Nothing living could enter. Food items would not degrade.

The Garage was simple. If he gained vehicles, he could place them in the Garage. If it needed repairs and was placed in the Garage, it would not allow him to take it out until a set time until it was repaired.

The Shop was interesting. Items could be bought in the Shop as long as it was from money given by Quests or Dungeons. It was separated into the Gamer Shop and DLC shop.

He skipped over the Map chapter and went straight into the Dungeons chapter.

Dungeons, he read, were not simple. Well, in theory they were. Each Dungeon would have a theme with certain monsters. If he beat enough Dungeons of a certain type, he could potentially go against the people Harry Dresden faced. Unfortunately, there wasn't a way to find out if he had faced enough Dungeons.

Dungeons could be hidden anywhere. When entering Dungeons, the perception of time could be stretched inside. The outside world would see it as if he glitched out of existence and reappeared.

No one else could enter a Dungeon. Wounds, injuries, destroyed materials on Izuku's person, his physical state, would show as he appeared from the Dungeon. He would also be trapped in there until he cleared the Dungeon.

That, Izuku realized, was a problem. Depending on the place that could leave him with some very unwanted questions. From locals, police, or even his own mother.

Following that line of thinking Izuku started to pale. His Quirk was different. It had too many possibilities and potentials. His eyes widened.

That would mean he needed to find a way to explain his Quirk. Magic would be simple. It would be an energy he could harness in multiple ways. Same with Skills.

The only way he could see himself entering Dungeons without anyone completely realizing something was amiss... He shuddered.

He would have to find Dungeons and wait for Villain attacks to enter them. That would be rather slow. Unless he got a note from a Quirk doctor saying that it was a unfortunate Quirk consequence he couldn't control, and anyone would be able to figure out that something wasn't adding up the way it should.

After a few minutes pondering it he thought of a very easy solution. Go find Dungeons in places nobody or very few people go to. Areas seperate from the public and switch his clothes from regular clothes to fighting clothes.

At the very least it was a solid enough plan, and he could always look for Villain attacks for an opportunity to use the more public locations.

He closed the Tutorial Manual. Leaning back, he tilted his head to stare out the window. He could learn more tomorrow.

The sky was dark. A cool breeze wafted in. His eyes were heavy now.

Slowly he shut the window, placed the Manual near his computer, and then walking to his bed. When his head touched the pillow he sank into its softness. Darkness claimed him.

Inko Midoriya was a mother. She also had a close relationship with her son. That meant she had a supernatural sense whenever something was wrong with her little baby boy.

Nine years ago she had cried apologies to her son when he asked if he could be a Hero. All because of a lack of the thing society called a Quirk. It had made her stress eat and wound up overweight.

This did not stop her anxiety the day of her boys birthday which she allowed him to take off school, and for her to stay home, just so they could stay with each other during the day as a family where she would video call her husband and they would be all together.

So, when she felt the need to stay awake past midnight, she listened to it. She had opened the door slightly to check up on her child and was shocked.

She watched as he yelped. How a notebook journal appeared out of nowhere and his yelp. The moment the bulb flickered, the computer fried, and how he muttered quietly to himself.

A small smile came to the shy woman's lips. Izuku would learn more about his Quirk more than she ever could. Carefully she walked back to her room.

In a few hours she would wake up and get a good breakfast ready. She would let him rest. It was lucky that his school was closed for the next day due to a maintenance issue and they had sent a notice a couple days ago.

It was the sunlight through the window that lit his room up. A groan escaped Izuku's lips. His head pounded.

The smell of bacon and eggs reached his nose. His ears could slightly hear the sizzle of grease in the pan. That was when he sleepily remembered last nights event.

His birthday. The Quirk. The Manual.

Emerald eyes went wide. His heart started to beat faster. He shoved the sheets off and got up a quick glance around let him see that his lightbulbs were blackened. Burnt out just like his lamp.

His eyes zoned in on the Tutorial Manual. In the better daylight he noticed that it was a black covered journal. Izuku rushed to it and almost stumbled.

He skimmed through the pages. A grin split his face. Laughter bubbled up from his mouth.

"Status Menu!" He nearly shouted.

A Status Sheet appeared with an emerald border.

Title: Deku

A knock at his door had his head jerk to it. The journal was slammed shut. His mother's voice went through the door. "It's time to eat breakfast. We need to talk."

Izuku peered out from behind his door. He could see a stern look upon her face. "What's wrong?"

His mother looked pointedly at the book in his hand. A soft smile appeared on her face that didn't reach her eyes. Her eyes watered. "My baby boy has a Quirk now."

Shock covered his face. "Oh."

They walked to the dining room table in an awkward silence.

"Hey Mom?" Izuku said softly.

"Yes Izuku?" His mother looked at him.

"Have you ever heard of The Harry Dresden Files?" His eyes meet hers and felt a pull. He jerked his eyes away. Something in his gut told him that it wouldn't end well if he continued to gaze into her eyes.

"I have. The stories were...interesting. Why?" He could hear the curiosity in her voice.

He hesitated. There was a gut feeling that the stories weren't exactly his type. Something, maybe the hesitation before her saying "interesting" made him wary.

Izuku sighed. "It's nothing. I think my Quirk lets me use energy to manipulate natural forces." A lie escaped his lips. "I don't know what it can do."

Inko's eyes watered. Her voice became a whisper. "You're not telling me quite a bit."

The teens eyes hardened. "I don't think I should let anyone know about what it can do. In fact,..." He looked at the journal before making a mental command and inserted his journal into the Inventory. "I don't think anyone will. All you need to know is I can make small fires and use similar abilities to your Quirk. It's not that I don't trust you, but I don't really trust anyone else around you."

A notification popped up. His Wisdom had increased.

Izuku stood up. "I'm going to go for a walk. Clear my head. Figure out a few things."
