After trying to escape the Covenant using the slipspace, The Pillar of Autumn is tackled by enemy troops forcing the Marines and the Master Chief to escape into a strange ring-shaped structure. Focused on his mission, the Master Chief will protect Cortana at all costs not only from Covenant troops and the inhabitants of that world.

Installation 04 is fired by 343-Guilty Spark, and Dr. Halsey sends 25 of her SPARTANs as well as a foundling out-system on board the UNSC Athens. Seventeen SPARTANs and the foundling now survive as something entirely different, and no one will expect the impact the foundling will have to the SPARTANs and the ATHENS. Rated M for language.
