EPOV

I would have married her if it weren't for Maria.

Where do I begin. Maria was powerful, with her dark eyes drawing in anyone that dare look into them.

It was the eve before my wedding to the love of my life. My Bella. With her beautiful chocolate eyes that held so much love. So much innocence. Too much innocence.

I was at my brother Jasper's house sitting on the couch with a beer, babbling about how excited I was for my future with my soon to be wife. When Maria showed up.

Now you see, Maria was dating Jasper. So at first we didn't think anything of her showing up. It was at first assumed that Maria was there for a quickie with Jasper, as they usually do this.

This time was different.

When Maria walked in this time, a tall man with a blonde pony tail and scorching blue eyes followed behind her towing a small young girl with black hair. Jasper and I stood up, not knowing what to thing at this moment.

"Maria, what are you doing here?" Jasper asked calmly. But I could tell he was anything but calm by how tense he stood. His hands were twitching, as if he was wanting to reach out to something.

It turned out that something was someone.

"Oh sweet, sweet Jasper. You didn't think I would find out about you and your little friend here" Maria replied, yanking the small girl forward out of James hands. Maria's eyes were dark and filled with fire and fury.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about", Jasper spoke with a stutter, his eyes going back and forth between Maria and the small girl.

I just stood there, as still as I could. I didn't know what to think or what to do at this point.

"Lucky for you, I don't need your lies Jasper. You see, your girl Alice here told me everything." Maria smiled, "James, tie all of them up for me".

James smirked and inched forward with such a predatory walk. I took a step back, not knowing what to do. Surely this is a joke.

Jasper however became enraged at this point and lunged forward with such a crazed look in his eyes. My brother has never been known to be an angry person. Always the one with the calm waves and able to get everyone out of any situation without argument.

Not this time. I should have held him back. Or snuck somewhere and called the police. But I just continued to back up until I fell back into sitting on the couch.

Jasper and this James guy then tackled eachother. Fighting.

"What is going on Maria, why are you doing this?" I had finally found my voice. It was definitely not as strong as I had hoped it would sound.

"Oh Eddie, didn't you know. Your dear dear brother has been having an affair with lovely Alice here" She replied, stroking Alice's hair. Alice flinched at the contact. She just started at me, her eyes speaking a million words. "Now, I didn't realise you were going to be here Eddie boy, you weren't supposed to be here."

Maria pulled out a knife from out of nowhere.

"STOP! JASPER, STOP. SHE HAS A KNIFE" I yelled. This was another mistake I made. In yelling this, Jasper did indeed stop his attack on James. But this then gave James the upper hand in pinning Jasper down. Holding his head up to look at Alice.

I swear time slowed or stopped in this next moment. Or was it the shock of what happened next, I am unsure.

The next thing I knew, Maria had plunged the knife behind Alice's back. Didn't even give the poor girl any warning. Alice's eyes went wide as she dropped to the floor, blood surrounding her instantly. Maria just stood there, staring at Alice who was now screaming, smiling the widest most sadistic smile I had ever seen.

"You're next" Maria moved towards Jasper.

This is where I felt the adrenaline of what was happening, and I lurched forward and tackled Maria, pushing the knife out of the way. This was enough to distract James, and allowed Jasper to get the upper hand and tackle him back.

I am not sure what happened next or how it happened. But next thing I knew, everything had gone dark.

Just for a minute.

"There I think that will do James. Jasper will just have to suffer with losing two people instead of one." Was that Maria, why was she here?

I heard a door slam shut and the loud noise of a car tearing away.

Where was I.

"Hello, 911, yes my brother and a girl were attacked in my house!" Jasper? "Please hurry, I think. I think she's dead. But my brother, he's still breathing, but it's shallow. Please, he's supposed to be getting married tomorrow!"

I could hear Jasper sobbing, pushing down on my chest somewhere. I didn't understand.

"Jasper" I whispered.

"Oh Edward, I am so sorry!" He sobbed.

"Bella?" I asked weakly.

"She's at home, with Rose remember, itching to marry you tomorrow!" He said between sobs.

"Tell her, I love her" I sputtered in between my gasps for breath.

Why was everything getting dark? Why was Jasper's screaming voice fading? What were those loud sirens? Is there a fire?

All of a sudden, I was sucked into a room. A black room.

"Hello?" I yelled out. Nothing.

Suddenly a bright light came out of nowhere. A window of sorts. I walked over and looked out the window. It showed a room with white walls, and a bed in the middle. A body laid there. Movement caught the corner of my eye. Bella?

"How long doc, how long will he be in this coma?" Bella asked.

Who? Who is in the coma?

"There's no saying. We just have to keep hope" The doctor replied.

I would have married her if it weren't for Maria. But instead, I am here in a dark room, not knowing where I was, watching my fiancé through a window knowing no matter how much I yelled, I would not be heard.
