"It's pandas birthday, we're going out."
"Huh?" Yuta says blankly before Maki takes his hand pulling him along "It's his birthday?"
Maki nods silently.
"I didn't know that..." Yuta furrowed his brow, wondering what Panda would like.
He glances around, gripping the band going across his chest holding his sword. He doesn't go to malls or big supermarkets often, feeling a little anxious he steps back at the sheer overwhelming amount of people.
"Oi!"
He grunts getting a firm pat on his back.
"Calm down will ya. It's just a mall, now come on." Maki grabs the sleeve of his uniform pulling him along.
He sighs, after stumbling a bit he regains his footing catching up to her "You don't need to drag me around."
"If I didn't you'd still be over there."
He glances at her seeing her cheeks a faint pink.
She growls "What's the plan?"
"Eh?" He murmured in response "Plan?"
She looked over at him with a slight frown "What were you going to get him?"
He stops, his mind going blank. He was suppose to think of what he was going to panda on his way over but everything from the moment he walked into the mall just shadowed over that.
"Uh... well..." he chuckles awkwardly, sweat going down his face as he gulps.
She seethes huffing angrily "You dont know do you. The moment you go somewhere new you revert to your old shaky self."
He slowly died a little inside, and groaned "Sorry..."
She grabbed his hand holding it as she pulls him along "Fine then, guess we're going with my plan."
He blinked a few times, she wasn't pulling him as hard as before, and she's holding his hand.
"Don't complain, at least im not grabbing your uniform."
He smiled softly before walking beside her "Im not."
"So what were you going to get him?" He asked crouching beside a shelf of stuffed animals. Maki had stopped by a place similar to build a bear.
"Huh? Right, I got a few things in mind." She said snapping her fingers to get his attention.
He looks up at her before following her as she grabs a few things "What does he like?"
"You've been with us for, how long? And you don't know?" She says fiddling with this little machine.
"W-Well... Panda just feels like one of those people who you could give anything as long as it's funny." He muttered suddenly feeling down about the lack of knowledge on his friends.
She gives a firm nod "Exactly. Which is why we were think of something on the way over." She says thanking something out of the machine before moving over to a table.
"Maybe just a fun gift card?" He says messing with the little machine.
"That's boring tho. Besides what we put in the card, money? He doesn't need money." She picks up the stuffy before pushing it against his chest.
He holds it as she pulls out a couple yen "Go pay for em." She says handing him the money.
He blinks a few times nodding as he hands her the one he was working on "Just give me a moment." He says walking over to the counter.
She walks back to the table adding a few things before noticing, it's a stuffed panda and she just put a bow on his head.
"Payed for both, here's your change." He says holding out a few yen to her.
She looked up at him and took the coins before walking out.
"Uhh..." he stared confused looking down at the small tiger she had made "What were these for?" He whispered before following after her.
"A game maybe?" He asked walking behind her in a video store, glancing across the shelves at movies he's never heard of or seen before.
"Mmh? He's an outdoors guy. Inumaki might like games though." She said looking across the shelves before stopping and picking one up.
He stopped short behind her, having caught a whiff of her shampoo. He notes how different it is from her usual "Then..."
"A scary movie." She spoke handing him a case.
He looked at it seeing a graphic cover of blood "Ah." He spoke softly, not really having an opinion of horror movies.
"He might enjoy them. Though he loves comedic movies." She snaps her fingers and glances at him behind her with a devious smirk "This can be payback for all the childish things he's done to us..."
He shivered at the evil glint in her eye "Y-Yea..." he scratches his head wonder what panda had done.
She takes the movie from his hand and sets it on the counter in front of the cashier as she pulls out her wallet he puts his hand over hers.
"I'll pay." He says with a charming smile, though he's more worried about her using up her money.
She furrows her brows, backing up a little. As she waits for him to pay she brushes her thumb over her wallet, a faint blush spreading across her cheeks and the tips of her ears.
He hums as he carries the bag "Is this everything?" He asks. Seeing her look a bit sour he leans forward a little getting a better look at her face from behind her dark green hair "Maki?" He questions before feeling his face get pushed away.
"So nosy." She mutters hiding her blush behind a annoyance "I'm hungry." She groans turning away from him as she starts to walk, stuffing her hands in her pockets.
He follows her, wondering if he had done something wrong he remains silent.
In the middle of the mall is a good court. Serving all sorts of foods and drinks, tables and booths fill the center of the first floor. After ordering they say in a booth, he remained quiet as she too sat in silence.
He glances to his side, having seated the stuff tiger right beside him "So..." he broke the silence getting an immediate sigh from her.
She glanced up at him, her cheeks flushed red.
He gulps.
"So... you figured it out..." she spoke, clearly irritated but in a solemn way.
"Eh?" He tried recalling anything but he just tilted his head puzzled. "Figured what?"
She stares at him unamused "You don't have to play along anymore."
Even more weirded out he glances away, lifting his hand he rubs his neck awkwardly "I... don't know what you mean."
Her face turned even more stiff than before and like Ice it begun to melt revealing her surprise "W-Wait you didn't realize it?"
He frowned as if he was missing something "I'm sorry I don't know what you mean."
She let out a exhausted sigh as she leaned back in her seat, she took off her glasses before rubbing down her face with her hands.
He felt like he did something wrong even fiddling with his fingers under the table.
"Yuta."
He immediately sat up straight awaiting whatever came his way.
"I..." she put her hand over her mouth and groaned into it "It's not actually Pandas birthday."
"Then why-"
"Cause I'm can't even be honest with myself!" She huffed hitting her head against the table.
"Maki?!"
She let out a deep breath "I'm not used to 'this'... I'm sorry for dragging you out here. I never really expected you to come up with something and I was just planning on having fun with you, but things didn't go as planned..."
He sees her struggling and putting his hands on the table he reaches out to her hand, gently putting his over hers "So... what would you.. call this then?"
Her blush intensified "A date. I wanted to go on a date. Not that it was one, after all I used Pandas birthday as an excuse to bring you out here." She turned her palm up into his, holding his hand.
"So that explains the stuffed animals. But I had fun."
She looked at him like he was a liar, which made him chuckle.
"Maki if this was a date, then it's the best date I've ever been on."
She scoffed, but really thinking about it she blushes heavily, turning her head away "Your so cringe."
He smiled a little happy to here her enthusiasm back up.
She sighed "You may be cringe, but I like you like that."
His face turned bright red, his smile faltered as he lowered his head hiding his face behind his arm.
She stared down at his embarrassment, smiling happily as she chuckled to herself.
Leaving the mall with blushing faces, they silently walked back to Jujutsu High, their fingers curled around each others in a cute intimate moment between the two.
So it's been a few months between chapters and you can probably see the difference between first chapter Maki and this one. I'm sorry if this ruined her character from the first one. Anyway I'm sorry it had been so long, I was planning on making chapter 2 sooner but I didn't know what to do for it. If you have any recommendations on what you want to see them do together I might be willing to use some if I can't come up with anything.
