"Alright Peter," Rhodes began as Peter landed on a rooftop in Hell's Kitchen, "is everyone linked up?"
"I think so." Peter answered tapping his comms device. "Ned, are you here?"
"Yeah, ready to go. War Machine I've sent you three locations to go check out. Spider-Man has the other three." Ned answered as a map popped up in Peter's HUD.
"Let's get a move on. If you find or see anything I'll be on my way."
"Sounds good." Peter replied jumping from the roof and he swung towards the closest building. It was only a couple blocks away so he could make it in good time. "Ned, can you access the cameras to any of the buildings?"
"I'm not a master hacker, but I'll try," Ned was silent as he typed away, "there's no cameras in any of them." More typing. "It's possible a crime syndicate might not want cameras."
"Possibly kid," Rhodes cut in as Peter landed on his first building, "but just get what you can. If we can eliminate any along the way, then tonight will be a lot faster."
"Got it." Ned replied as Peter began to tune them out. He couldn't make anything out and the building was dark.
"This place is empty man." Peter noted opening a window and crawling inside. "I'll see if I can find any clues." He crawled along the ceiling not spotting anyone, so he allowed himself to fall to the ground. He landed and began to search.
Tables stood around the building, but all of them had practically nothing. "I'm moving on to my next building. Found nothing here." Rhodes announced as Peter finally found something. It was a notebook that had large writing on the front page. It simply read: "ITS ALL COMING TOGETHER".
"Guys," Peter said flipping through the notebook and it had a bunch of nonsense, "I got something. Could be someone crazy, but it's interesting."
"What is it?" Rhodes asked as Peter took pictures of the notebook. He sent the pictures to the others so they could examine it. "It's all coming together?" He asked reading the pictures. "Any ideas kids?"
"I don't know." Ned mused as Peter left the building. "I'll look into it. See if I can convince your AI to do some type of handwriting scan."
"Is that a thing?" Peter asked taking a deep breath as he swung towards his next building.
"No," Rhodes replied with a light laugh, "but I'm sure if you bring it up to Tony it could be."
"Dibs!" Peter called with a defeated Ned in the background. He landed on the side of the next building, and it was pitch black inside. Like no light could even exist inside. "Alright, I'm going in number two."
"Keep us updated." Rhodes ordered as Peter made his way into a vent. He crawled through and found his way into the building.
"Got it." Peter replied hanging from the ceiling. "It's so hard to see in this place." He slowly dropped down onto the floor and looked for any kind of evidence. When he touched the ground the lights in the building shot on nearly blinding Peter in a moment. He blinked it away and when he could see the building was impeccably clear. The floor and walls were spotless white marble. "What is this place?" He asked before his hair shot up. He knew that feeling.
"Pete get out!" He heard Rhodes yell before the lights in the building turned on. It was like a dozen spotlights hitting him at once and it blinded him. He couldn't see and his ears rang from the sudden sensation, whatever was happening was bad. The hair on his body stood up all at once and the ringing in the back of his head shot up.
He reached up and closed his eyes to try to make it feel better, but he heard a loud crash from behind. He blinked away the blinding feeling as he turned around. He had made the 180 turn before getting hit by something that hit like a train. He went flying backwards through the air trying to figure out what just happened.
Peter flew into a wall, and everything went blurry again. "Ow." He moaned as he blinked over and over. He needed to regain his senses immediately. He shook his head and looked at the source of the attack and stood a giant rhino?
The 10-foot-tall and six-foot-wide beast towered in front of him.. It looked like a robotic rhino standing there glaring. No emotion came through, but the thing looked angry. It's horn was deadly sharp, and the lights shined off of it.. "What the hell is that?" Peter asked getting up against the wall. It was massive and stronger than anything he had been hit by before.
"You're dead little spider!" The voice was deep and robotic. It began to charge towards Peter making him jump to the side to avoid it. The rhino like robot swiftly turned and continued to charge.
"Hey guys!" Peter called shooting a web onto the ceiling and swung away from the charging beast. "I need backup now!"
"I'm on my way!" Rhodes yelled as Peter looked back towards the rhino. It was walking towards him, like it was waiting for its prey to get tired.
"Alright," he said swinging towards the rhino, "I'll keep this thing busy." He went on the attack as he swung past the rhino. The thing swung its arm at him trying to knock him out of the air, but Peter sailed past him. He went behind the rhino and immediately shot a web on its back.
He pulled with all his strength and the thing didn't even budge. He quickly let the web go as it turned around to face him. Only 10 feet apart stood the rhino and the spider, and it wasn't looking good for Peter.
"I don't know how to beat this thing." He whispered to himself as the rhino began to charge. It dropped its arms and charged with its head straight ahead. Peter jumped to the side feeling the wind that the rhino created. Peter jumped up onto the wall getting above the reach of the large beast.
The Rhino stopped charging and looked back at Peter. "Get down here little spider!" It yelled approaching the wall. When it looked up Peter attempted to look inside. Maybe there was a mask or a window he could see someone but there was nothing. The lit-up eyes were the only source of a face on the robot.
"Only when you stop trying to kill me!" Peter yelled back. The rhino just laughed at him, so Peter shot a web to the ceiling and swung to the other side of the room. As the rhino turned around Peter let go of his web and shot two more webs on the wall behind the rhino. Peter pulled himself and shot himself putting his feet out.
He kicked the Rhino in the chest and knocked it backwards. It banged against the wall and the wall cracked all the way up to the ceiling. Peter shot a web onto it's horn and pulled down with all its might. The Rhino's head shot down towards the ground, but he pulled his neck back and glared.
The Rhino grabbed the web and pulled Peter in. He punched Peter in the gut and knocked him to the ground. The air was sucked out of Peter's lungs, and he couldn't breathe from the punch. Peter groaned in pain as he slowly pushed himself back up.
"Little spider." Rhino began to say as he slowly stomped towards him. "Did you really think that we didn't know how to get you here?"
"What're you talking about?" Peter groaned looking up. He strained his neck backwards to look up as his entire body shook and ached.
"I guess," Rhino said as he got right in front of Peter, "you'll never know." Rhino lifted his foot up above Peter, he stared down with his cold metallic eyes. As he began to lower his foot Peter dropped to the ground and flipped to his back. He shot his hands up and met the large foot halfway.
His arms burned and screamed at him as he held the thousand-pound foot off of him. He felt a guttural scream start to emit from him as he pushed it off. Rhino pushed down harder so Peter pushed back up harder.
He held it for a few more seconds before he gave one final push and rolled out of the way. He shot a web to the ceiling and pulled himself as fast as possible. He landed on the ceiling and looked down at the Rhino who stared back at him.
He was weirdly quiet as he craned his neck to stare up. Peter stared back at him catching his breath, he didn't know how to beat this thing. The Rhino slowly looked down and turned around, he moved slowly and didn't even acknowledge Peter.
"Where do you think you're going?" Peter called out making Rhino come to a stop. He slowly looked back at Peter before he turned around and charged. He burst through the wall of the building, crashing through the wall, and shaking the entire building. "What the?"
Peter dropped down to the ground and slowly approached the giant hole in the wall. Rhino was gone, he was already out of the alleyway, but Peter could hear his giant footsteps. It pounded and echoed through the alleys and road. Peter walked outside and ran up the building to get to the roof trying to figure out what was happening. Why did he have a new villain that was just running away?
He jumped off the roof and began swinging following the sound of Rhino running. He slowly began to catch up as Rhino went through different alleyways. Every time Peter would start to get close Rhino would change directions or run through a building. He was quick for a guy wearing that big of a metal suit.
Eventually they got out of Queen's and passed through the city. Peter would get close, and Rhino would continue running. Peter stayed up with him until they went into Hell's Kitchen. A small district in New York, what were they doing out here? Rhino ran into a warehouse district and began to run between them before running inside of one.
Peter let out a deep breath as he shot a web towards the building. Something was going on and he wasn't excited to find out what it was.
