Chapter Nine:

A week later:

Vanellope's eyes flickered open. She was in a white room with breezy curtains and a dry medical smell - a hospital.

"Hey kiddo,"

"Ralph?" Vanellope asked. "What happened?"

"You won," The older hero grinned. "And you're perfectly fine,"

Vanellope couldn't help but grin herself. She looked around, noticing how the room wasn't a single, but instead a wide one with three beds. Mavis was in the next one, while Onceler was in the next bed. Their hands were stretched out to the side, almost like they were reaching for each other.

There were whitest burn scars, pink around the edges, that covered the exposed skin on Mavis's body. Vanellope winced.

Ralph and Van talked a little more, before they were interrupted by a knock on the door. Ralph got up to let the visitor inside, and a tall dark haired man immediately went to Mavis.

"Mr D'Cula I assume?" Ralph said, and the man nodded.

"I'm Drac," He said. "Drac D'Cula,"

He brushed a hand over his daughters hair, smiling sadly at the teenager he hadn't seen in years.

"She's been gone so long,"

"Is it true, about the whole vampire thing?" Vanellope asked. Drac cringed, but nodded after a while.

"It's hereditary," He said. "We have an ancestor who was a super, but more of a villain. The powers are passed down, but they've been fairly dormant for the past hundred years,"

"And O'Hare triggered it," Vanellope muttered. Before things could get awkward, Mavis woke up, and the heartfelt reunion between father and daughter made everyone else forget their questions.

In the next hours, Audrey, Moana and Te-fiti joined, Onceler woke up, and the group finally sat down to talk out the past few weeks. Everyone shared, from Moana and her sister to Vanellope about the secret work she'd been conducting on O'Hare.

And soon it was time to go.

"Our flight back to Transylvania is in a few days," Drac told Mavis. "I… can add a few extra tickets though,"

"Us?" Audrey asked suddenly. "Are you sure?"

Drac just smiled.

"We're going to stay friends, right?" Ted asked.

"Of course dude," Onceler said. "I can't imagine living on my own without you guys to talk to,"

So, where have the heroes of Sugarus been since the collapse of the O'Hare building and subsequent investigation? It seems the once great team of five has changed.

Our first hero, Wrecker has stuck around, protecting the streets with his sidekick Shockwave. Surprisingly, the armored hero from the fall of O'Hare has joined them - known to the public as Lorax.

I'm sure we've all been sad to see that Empousa and the plant twins have left the city, but there have been reports of similar heroes showing up in rural Europe.

The mysterious water based super that appeared at the Sugarus Museum fire and the fall? She and the life goddess that destroyed the Cy-bugs have also vanished. Again, online reports say they'd appeared on some Hawaiian Islands, but nothing official has come out.

And as for the O'Hare Air company. New reports were recently leaked to the public, and the company has declared bankruptcy. It seems that the fall of their building wasn't the other thing to set them back. As we speak, CEO Aloysius O'Hare and head scientist K. Candy have been arrested and charged with illegal robotics and knowledge of said activities. They will be sent to San Fransokyo to be tried by the Robotics Ethics Association after the public trial here in the city.

This is Felicity Fieldmouse, reporting for Sugarus Nightly News. Stay calm and goodnight.

Authors Note: That is the end of Sugar Science Iced Tea! I hoped you all enjoyed this little detour while Omega Project continues. If you want to see these guys again, wait for the next little story in this universe - Mariposa and the Super's Convention.
