Episode 12: The Reunion Special
It was a cloudy evening in the big city, and at the Starling Mansion, Tom and Jerry were watching a good cartoon show with their dear little owner and friend Robyn Starling. Nibbles was there as well, for he had been staying with his uncle Jerry for the weekend. For a while, the four friends sat there enjoying the show as well as each other's company. Jerry then asked, "So, Nibbles, what do you think of our new home?"
"I think you've got it made, Uncle Jerry," replied Nibbles as he finished another cheese block. "This place is amazing, and Robyn's so nice. I'm glad she took you and Tom in so openly."
Robyn beamed at Nibbles and said, "I've always wanted a pet, Nibbles, and I was so glad to consider having two pets who could talk to me and understand me. I hope I get to spend all the time I can have with Tom and your uncle Jerry."
"And Jerry and I wouldn't trade our time together for all the houses in the world," added Tom.
"We love you, Robyn," finished Jerry. And then he hopped into Robyn's palm and she held him up to give her face a warm hug. The group continued watching their show until they heard a knock on the entrance to Jerry's mousehole.
"Who could that be?" Robyn wondered.
"I'll find out," Jerry said encouragingly. He hopped off the couch and headed for his mousehole. He opened the entrance door and what a surprise! The visitors were his cousin, Muscles Mouse, and his western-style Uncle Pecos!
"Uncle! Cousin!" cried Jerry with happiness as he hugged them both. "What are you guys doing here?"
"We came here to see you, cuz," replied Muscles with his usual smug yet loving air.
"It's a little family re-re-unity… re-reunited… uh, family get-together," explained Uncle Pecos.
"Well, that's great!" cheered Jerry. Then he called to Tom, Robyn, and Nibbles, "Hey, guys! It's my uncle and cousin!"
Tom was the first to greet Muscles and Uncle Pecos, and for once, Muscles gave Tom a smile. "Good to see ya, buddy," he said with a grin.
"Uh… thanks," replied Tom sheepishly.
Uncle Pecos hugged Nibbles and gave him a gold pebble that he had managed to salvage from his travels. Then he and Muscles noticed Robyn beaming at them, and the two mice tipped their hats.
"Well, hello," Muscles said with a smile. "Who might this be?"
Robyn smiled and introduced herself. "I'm Robyn. Robyn Starling."
Uncle Pecos tipped his cowboy hat and said, "W-w-well, how very charm… uh, lovely… ni-nice to meet you, Miss Robyn."
Robyn giggled and replied, "Just Robyn."
Muscles bowed and kissed the girl's hand, saying, "Delighted to make your acquaintance."
Then Jerry led his relations to the kitchen, where Robyn's father was having his evening tea. When he saw Jerry's relatives, a grin stretched across his face.
"Company of our pets visiting, Robyn?" he inquired.
Robyn nodded and then introduced her father to Muscles and Uncle Pecos, and then she introduced him to Nibbles as he had not met Nibbles after the incident of the raided fridge. Uncle Pecos tipped his hat to Mr. Starling while Nibbles gave a little wave, and Musclesgave a bow which had the effect of making Robyn's father laugh a bit. Then when Robyn explained the reasons for Jerry's relatives coming over, Mr. Starling said, "Well, far be it from me to fail to satisfy guests! This calls for a regular reunion special meal tonight!"
And that's just what happened. About a half-hour later, Mr. Starling had cooked a remarkable dinner for himself and Robyn that would be shared between Tom, Jerry, and Jerry's relatives. The meal consisted of ham, bread, cheese, fruit, and a very delightful fruitcake. Muscles and Uncle Pecos were enthralled as Tom and Jerry explained how they had met Robyn and reunited her with her missing father, thereby saving her and her fortune from Pristine Figg. Robyn's cheerful banter made Muscles smile, and Uncle Pecos was thrilled to know that Tom and Jerry were her pets and she took such good care of them.
"I gotta hand it to you, Jerry. You're one lucky mouse," said Muscles to his cousin.
"I'm betting it was something more that convinced Robyn to take Tom and me in, cousin," said Jerry modestly.
"It must have been love," Tom thought out loud. "Robyn's too kind to turn away anyone who needs uplifting."
Robyn picked Tom up and then held Jerry in her little hand, and she said, "I needed you too, I suppose. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known that my father survived that avalanche and wouldn't have gone to look for him."
A hand on her shoulder told Robyn that her father was smiling even more than usual, and he said to her, "Even if you hadn't found the truth then, you would still find it. I was on my way back to the States after I learned of Figg's plan. I would never let anyone harm you, Robyn, family or not."
Robyn hugged her father and kissed his cheek, and Muscles proposed a toast. "To Cousin Jerry and his buddy Tom, who saved this young lady from her money-grubbing guardians and restored her papa's kingdom of the household."
"To Tom and Jerry!" the group reiterated.
This was the happiest night Tom and Jerry had known, and it wasn't over yet. For the new few hours, Tom and Jerry showed Jerry's relations around Starling Mansion and they enjoyed games and books and activities of various kinds, and Robyn even allowed Jerry's cousin and uncle to spend the night as the mansion had plenty of room. No evening could have been happier for Tom and Jerry, and they looked forward to more happy times with friends, family, and with their beloved friend and owner Robyn Starling and her father.
