-Souta's Mansion-
"MAAAKKOOOO!" Reiko busts open the door to Masako's bedroom while shouting her name.
This causes her to immediately wake up from her night's rest. She involuntarily jumps and immediately sit herself up in her bed.
Once she rubs her eyes and realizes who rudely disturbed her slumber, she shouts, "Reiko! Don't you dare do that again! You nearly gave me a heart attack! What on earth possessed you to need to bust into my room like this so early in the morning?"
"Sorry Mako! I'm just so full of excitement and energy that I couldn't keep it all in anymore! Today's the day you finally get to lead the maids in battle alongside master! Do you have any idea how much of an honor that is?!"
"I'm simply doing my job, no more no less. Now, please kindly leave so that I may get dressed and prepare the maids for the day ahead."
Reiko pouts and frowns but complies with her request. Once she is done dressing, she goes down and helps assist with breakfast alongside some other maids. Following breakfast, she calls the maids that will be present in the operation for one last round of training. Meanwhile, she assigns Reiko with the task of gearing up Naru for her role.
Due to the healing maids casting healing magic on Naru for many days now, alongside the bones healing naturally, this is the first day she is able to go out without her crutches.
"This thing is really awesome! I feel like I'm in a mecha anime. I gotta ask Su to make me one of these when I get home. I hope she's doing fine over there." Naru comments as she is decked out in a red armor suit in her room. Days earlier she had discussed with Masako that her role in the operation will be that of a defender. Thus, she is issued the job of protecting the maids from harm, as they do not wear any sort of protective equipment. When Naru inquired as to why they do not wear any, Masako replied that the equipment would get in the way of them using their magic effectively.
Her red armor suit does not grant any special effects or abilities. However, it is rather durable and can endure some heavy blows before breaking. Alongside this, the armor is rather light and flexible, allowing for ease of movement. Naru mentions that it hardly weighs down on her at all.
Reiko responds to her comment on the weight of the armor, "That's to be expected of the great engineers we have. Remember, do your job properly out there. The maids are counting on you to protect them."
"Honestly, I don't feel like we'll need to fight period. If we explain what's happening to the other tenants, then they'll understand and willingly let it go. We'll all be reunited, Keitaro will no longer be manager, and Anthony and Faye will be kicked out forever. It'll be great!"
"Seems you're quite optimistic about this all going well. Just be prepared to fight in case they don't agree with just a talk, which they likely won't. Now, I gotta leave. Mako or master will instruct you further."
As she leaves, she mumbles to herself while frowning, "And make sure you break off all contact with Mako after this."
Naru barely hears her mumble, but is unable to make out any of the words she says. "Did you say something?"
Looking back, she smiles and says, "Nope! Nothing!"
Elsewhere, Masako knocks on the door to the storage room that she assigned Faye to sleep in. After hearing no reply, she impatiently knocks louder. Once again, there is no response. She knocks even louder a third time and begins to call her name in an irritated tone. As she again hears no response, she grows too impatient and throws the door open.
"Faye! You better get up now! Or else I'll…huh?" She notices that she isn't even in the room. "If she isn't here, then where could she be? The only place she'd likely want to be is…ah."
Closing the door, she makes her way for the room where Anthony is located. The door has since been replaced with a new one and she opens it to find Anthony sleeping in the tube and Faye sleeping on the floor as close to him as possible.
Called it. She sighs and walks over the Faye. Swinging her right leg back, she proceeds to kick Faye rather hard on her side. This causes her to roll on her side a few times before settling with having her body facing upwards.
The sudden momentum of her body and the pain registering in her nervous system quite forcefully wakes her up. "Ow…" She moans as she instinctively applies healing magic to herself in the afflicted area.
Looking up to see who so rudely attacked her in the middle of her sleep, she sees Masako. For some reason, her hairstyle appears to be different than yesterday. Rather than just letting it all of her golden hair down loosely, today she has it tied up in a ponytail.
"Good morning Faye. Lovely way to wake up, is it not?" She says mockingly.
Sitting up and then standing, she pats down her maid outfit to get rid of any wrinkles that could have developed over the night or from Masako's attack.
"What do you plan to do with master?" Faye asks her.
The noise awakens Anthony. As he gets up Masako replies, "Not much. He'll be coming with us to the battle though."
"I'm…I'm going to the battle?" Anthony rubs his eyes.
"Are you intending to release him and have him fight for you?" She glares at Masako. She then turns to Anthony and smiles, "Good morning master. I hope you slept well despite this awful situation you are in."
"I slept alright." He responds to her.
Masako chuckles, "Fufu…no. He's way to weak for that. Besides, if I released him, you'd just take him and escape. I obviously can't let that happen."
"Then why?" Faye asks.
"Oh, I just thought he might want to watch the battle unfold is all. See the inn destroyed with his very eyes." Which will cause him to be distressed. And if I know Faye from how she's been acting lately, she'll become distressed as well. I also have no plans to release him. Fufu…I hope you're prepared to wallow in misery Faye, knowing how helpless you'll be in saving your master.
"You really are planning to destroy that inn you jerk…" Anthony grits his teeth. Although…I can't help but admit I am excited to see the absolute look of shock and disappointment on Naru's face when she realizes the tenants no longer like her like she thinks they do. He thinks. He then says, "Does this mean I get to leave this stupid glass cylinder?"
Masako chuckles, "Fufu. Your idiocy humors me. Of course not. We're doing this instead."
She puts a hand on the cylinder and a small blue light begins to emanate around her hand. Before she can proceed any further, Faye gives her a powerful kick that sends her flying towards the wall, cracking it. Peeling from the wall and falling onto the hard concrete floor flat on her face, she groans in pain.
She slowly stands and says slowly, "Huh…I haven't seen you use that much strength in a while. Still as sharp as ever."
"No one insults master and gets away with it. Not even you Masako." Faye states with a bitter tone. "Let me remind you I am only complying with any of this at all for master's safety."
"Faye…" Anthony is once again touched by her insane care towards him. However, he is also concerned for her safety. "Thank you for saying that. It means a lot. But please don't anger her too much. I feel she hasn't really revealed what she is truly capable of."
Faye looks back and smiles at him, "Thank you for the warning master. Please be rest assured, I will take care not to aggravate her too mu-"
Her response is cut off by her suddenly getting sent flying across the room by Masako. Apparently, she has taken advantage of the distraction Anthony caused and ran up towards her. Transforming her left leg into a black ball with white spikes protruding from all directions, she kicks Faye rather brutally with it.
This causes Faye to be punctured with at least three major wounds. One in her stomach, and one in each arm.
"FAYE!" Anthony cries out to her.
Without saying a word, Masako again comes up to the tube and places her right hand on it. The blue light begins to emanate from her hand again. "Cover your eyes unless you want to be blind for life." She tells Anthony. He fearfully complies. The light grows larger and brighter as it begins to encapsulate the entire tube, as well as the machinery behind it. It does not appear to include the monitors hanging above on the wall or the computer sitting on a desk to the right of the machine.
All of a sudden, Masako teleports. Taking with her is the tube, the machine, and Anthony who is still inside the cylinder.
During that entire process, Faye spends the time to heal herself of her wounds. As she had blood gushing from all three of them, she had no choice but to deal with those first and foremost. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to assist Anthony.
Looking up, she notices his absence, as well that the tube, machine, and Masako are gone as well.
Running out of the room, she mumbles, "Where did that jerk take him…" I heard him shout my name in worry. Thank you for worrying about me master. I love you for that, but you're in a way more dangerous situation than I am.
Meanwhile, Masako and everything else teleport onto a flat, thick wooden board placed outside the mansion. Below the board are four large black wheels.
"Ugh…I really hate being teleported." Anthony holds his head as he feels that familiar wave of dizziness he felt yesterday when he was teleported to the mansion. Taking a look around, he spots the mansion, as well as the sun rising in the east.
He suddenly remembers what happened a moment before and yells at Masako, "What in the world did you do to Faye just now?! Did you kill her?! Explain yourself NOW!"
"You're that worried about her? Interesting. Well, you certainly saw it, no? I simply retaliated against her attack. Nothing more, nothing less. She won't die. She'll simply heal herself up with that unnatural healing ability of hers."
"Even if that's true, you went way too far! You didn't need to attack her like that!" He shouts.
She raises an eyebrow and gives him an accusing look, "Oh? And you're saying that it's perfectly reasonable for her to attack me simply because I called you out on your idiocy? You're certainly biased towards her. You're sounding a bit like Naru."
"Don't lump me in with that wretch!" He shouts. "I'm nothing like her! Unlike her I can actually use reasoning and understand that what you're saying is right and that she should've had more self-restraint! At the same time, I'm fairly certain, and I'm sure you know as well, that she has a lot of pent-up anger right now because you kidnapped me. So honestly, you're bringing about her irritated and violent side upon yourself, just like how Naru brought her problems upon herself.
"No." Masako refutes, "She started it first. She's the one that allowed one of my dearest friends to die." A small tear escapes her eye as she lowers her head and trembles slightly, "You would never understand the feeling of losing a person you loved. Especially if that loss could've been prevented but wasn't due to pure selfishness. You have absolutely no right to judge me for what I'm doing."
"I believe I do, considering the fact that you are directly involving me in your issues. That is really selfish of you. In any case, I do understand that feeling, at least a little. I've been separated from my family for a week now. Granted, it's not been a year like in your-"
"A week? A week?" She sneers. "That's the equivalent of going on vacation! You can go back to them anytime you want! I can't see Asuka ever again! Don't you even try to spout crap about understanding me with a petty example like that." She then mumbles in a small voice that Anthony barely hears, "A week. Tch."
He sighs, "Now you're just jumping to conclusions. I have no idea if I'll be ever to see them again. My situation is-"
"Master!" Faye calls out to him as she busts open the front doors to the mansion. "Are you alright?!"
As Faye attempts to approach him, Masako catches her by the arm and tugs her in the opposite direction. "He's fine. Come on, we have some final preparations to do."
"I don't take orders from you Masako." She states coldly as she successfully breaks free from her grip.
"If you don't come, I will suck some more of Anthony's Ki out of him and put him in torturous pain."
Gritting her teeth, Faye has no choice but to go along with her. Turning her head around she frowns at Anthony, having an apologetic look on her face. Anthony nods indicating his understanding of the situation. He asks, "Are you feeling alright after…that?"
She nods while her head is still turned and responds, "Yes. Thank you for asking."
As they head up the steps to the mansion, Masako thinks over what Anthony last said to her. That was unexpected. He seemed so serious when he said he wasn't sure if he'd see his family ever again. I'm slightly curious as to what happened. Maybe he's having family problems? Ugh, get it together Masako! Why are you worrying about that guy anyway? Your mission is to cause as much pain for Faye as possible! He's simply a victim in all of this, nothing more.
Half an hour later, Souta makes an appearance before all the maids and Naru to give one final speech before the attack.
"Hello everyone, as you all know, we are about to march towards Hinata Inn in preparation to overtake it. For the maids remaining here, continue to look after the place. I expect everything to be done on time, even if the workforce is smaller than usual today. As for the ones travelling with us, put that training you all have done with Masako to good use. That will be the key to our victory. Remember, the goal is to take control of the Hinata Inn. If you encounter one of the tenants, you are free to capture them or knock them unconscious. Do NOT kill them, I'm not going to deal with the legal mess that comes with that."
"What?! You bastard! You were actually thinking of KILLING THEM?!" Naru shouts, appalled.
"Of course not. You're misunderstanding things." He responds to her. He then again addresses the group, "Masako is your primary commander in this battle. While I will attend, I will simply be observing and overseeing the battle, giving orders if needed. One final thing, we have a last-minute recruit. Faye, make your way up here."
The crowd gasps upon hearing her name. Many people begin to make various comments:
"She's that extraordinary healer isn't she?!"
"She's so cool! I wish I was friends with her."
"Big deal, she can heal people, I can do that too."
"I remember she was a fairly quiet girl in our class."
"Why is she here? Did master pick her up as well?"
Faye doesn't budge and continues to stand at her current position, which is in the front line closest to Souta.
Spotting her after doing a quick scan of the room and noticing she isn't moving, Souta calls out to her again in a more authoritarian tone, "Faye, come up here, now."
She again does not answer nor moves from her location.
Growing more agitated with her as she is not following his orders, he begins to threaten her, "Faye, if you don't get your butt up here now, I swear I'll-"
He cuts himself off as she finally begins to walk towards him. Standing next to and in front of the pedestal he is using, she announces to everyone, "Let it be known that I simply came up here by my own will. I'm irritated that this speech isn't over already. Just let me get back to master already."
The maids begin to murmur among themselves that she's already next to her master. She is able to pick up a few lines that they are saying, "There's clearly a misunderstanding, so let me clear it up. Souta is not my master. I'm only here because of some certain circumstances. I am simply a healer. That is all. So just come to me if you're hurt yourself. I believe that is all you wanted to tell them, right Souta?" She then walks back to her original place, but not before giving Masako a harsh glance.
Souta is very annoyed at Faye's rebellious attitude, but he takes a deep breath to calm himself down. They've already come this far. No need to add any further complications. "That is correct. She will be your primary healer if you have any major injuries. Now then, are there any final questions before we head out?"
Naru raises her hand.
"Yes Naru?"
"We will be attempting to talk to them one more time before taking over the inn, right? I want this to go over peacefully if possible. I can't imagine that they will resist the idea of Masako taking over as manager. After all, she isn't a dirty pervert like Keitaro."
He responds, "If you wish to talk them into letting us seize the inn, then go for it. However, if they refuse, we will resort to force."
"I understand. Thank you."
"Anything else?"
Silence fills the room, giving the answer he needed. "Alright then, let's do this. Maids, positions!"
"Understood master!" Comes a uniformed reply from everyone except Naru and Faye. They proceed to enter the formation that has been agreed upon beforehand.
Yui and Reiko being given charge of moving the platform Anthony is on, they begin to march through a forest to reach Hinata Inn. While taking the sidewalks would've been a more direct route, Souta does not want the army to bring any attention to itself. Thus, they decide to go through the nearby forest to conceal themselves from the public.
-Hoshiko's Home-
Hoshiko puts on some shoes as she prepares to leave her house. She carries a brown purse over her right shoulder. Not wearing a maid outfit outside of school, she is instead wearing a red shirt with black tights. In her hand she is holding a piece of paper containing the address for Souta's mansion on it.
"Time to give the diary to them. I certainly would like to hear an explanation from Reiko as to why she did this."
Saying that to herself, she exits her house.
-Hinata Inn-
Down in the kitchen, Shinobu hastily prepares cup ramen for everyone to eat. While it is not a very healthy breakfast, she does not have time to prepare anything else quickly and efficiently. They don't even bother sitting down to eat and instead just eat it standing up. Everyone except for Motoko are present.
"My step-sister is really doing this, I still can't believe she'd stoop this low." Mei sips on some tea at the kitchen table. She came last night with the intention of staying over the weekend in case the attack occurred then. "I'm glad I was able to come. I really want to knock some sense into her. I hope Anthony and Faye are alright."
"If they've done anything to either of them, especially Anthony, I swear I'll throw a million pieces of ancient pottery at them!" Sarah announces.
"Now now Sarah, didn't you say you'd stop doing those sorts of things?" Keitaro smiles while playfully pulling on her ear.
"Ow Keitaro! That hurts! I'm sorry! I won't do that sort of thing! I'm just really worried…"
He lets go and tells her, "We all are Sarah. However, I think they can pull through whatever trials await them there."
"You sure are an optimistic individual." Tsuruko comments, "That's a nice trait to have. Although don't expect things to have gone that smoothly over there. If that was the case, they would've likely been back by now."
"What do you think happened to them?!" Shinobu asks her with a worried tone.
"I can't know for sure of course, but I get a sneaking suspicion that blackmail is involved here. Judging from the letter Masako wrote, she was clearly directly aiming to kidnap Anthony and not any of the rest of us. If what you guys have told me about Faye is true, then all Masako has to do is threaten Anthony with harm and presuming Faye could not save him herself, she'd be forced to cater to her whims."
Keitaro gasps slightly, "I never even thought of it that way. Is it possible Faye may actually go against us today?!"
Tsuruko nods, "It is indeed possible, depending on what Masako told her to do."
"But couldn't Anthony stop her? She's clearly shown she'll only do what he tells her to do." He counters.
Mitsune chimes in, "Faye cares far more for Anthony than for any of us. If Masako threatened his life, then I believe she'll do anything to save him, even if that means being forced to disobey him and attack us. I mean, that's what I would do in her situation."
"But isn't she like, crazy strong?" He asks.
She responds, "Yes, but remember what she said? All the maids over there have trained in martial arts just like her. Assuming Masako is just as good at it as she is, then she's likely to have a rough time. Additionally, it seems like Masako's mystery magic has offensive capabilities, unlike Faye's healing magic, which is completely defensive as far as I can tell. As sad as I am to say this, it wouldn't surprise me if Faye got backed into a corner by her."
"What are you all discussing about?" Motoko asks as she enters the kitchen, she was the only one not present.
Keitaro brings her up to speed on what they were discussing.
"I completely agree with Mitsune, that maid will do anything to keep him from getting harmed. I know firsthand." She lightly chuckles at herself.
"Did you make the phone call I asked you to make?" Shinobu asks her.
She nods, "Yes. They said they will be here in about 10 minutes."
"What phone call?" Keitaro asks both of them.
Shinobu gives him a smile, "You'll see shortly. I likewise placed a call not too long ago."
Ten minutes later, there is a knock at the door. Motoko goes to answer it. On the other side of the door are three girls who each appear to be carrying a large brown bag behind them.
"Thank you three for coming on such short notice, especially with the situation at hand." She says.
Emi and Sachiyo shake their heads, The former says, "No, thank you for contacting us so quickly. We said before we wish to help you all out with this. So we intend to give it our all! Right Sachiyo?"
"Right!" She responds and grins.
The third person, Haruka says, "Thanks for letting me know as well. I've closed up the teashop for the day and sent my employees home. Do you have a place for all the stuff we've brought? It's the remaining items from the teashop I couldn't remove until today. Since I'm unsure if the teashop will get destroyed as well, I've already sent most of my personal belongings to a friend of mine for now."
She replies, "Yes, we've brought most of our belongings to the basement, where it should be the most secure. We can send your items down there as well."
Motoko turns her head to the other two girls and asks, "Are your parents alright with you two being out this early in the morning?"
Emi replies, "Yeah, mine are cool with it. My parents are pretty lax about us being out. As long as I am back by lunchtime, there should be no problems. So hopefully this fight doesn't take super long to resolve. Although, if it does, then I don't mind staying out longer as necessary."
"Same here with my parents. I'm also willing to stay out past lunchtime if needed." Sachiyo says.
Motoko bows to them both, "Again, my deepest thanks for doing this."
Letting them in, they head down the basement while being led by Motoko. Going into an unused room where the rest of the belongings are stored, their bags are placed in there. They return upstairs.
Around 15 minutes later, Su makes an announcement to everyone in the living room, "Alright everyone, they will be here in about 5 minutes. Keitaro, would you like to say any final words before we head to our designated positions?"
He nods and begins a final speech, "As we've discussed, you are allowed to attack and knock the maids unconscious if necessary. Absolutely NO killing is allowed. If you do, then you will be reported to the authorities. You will also be immediately evicted if you are a tenant. Torturing is also forbidden. Do I make myself clear?"
Everyone nods in understanding.
"If you see Anthony and/or Faye, try your absolute hardest to talk to them and figure out what is fully going on. If Faye attacks, then simply dodge and reflect her attacks. Only retaliate if absolutely necessary. I do not want any harm to come to a friend of ours."
Everyone again nods in understanding.
"That's all I have to say then. Distribute the weapons Su. I hope everyone is able to come out of this unscathed. We will show Souta, Masako, and all the others what happens when they attempt to do a forceful takeover of our inn and home!"
With a round of vigorous agreeance to Keitaro's words, Su does as she's told since all of the weapons they will carry on hand are in the living room already. The inhabitants are about to begin walking to their designated locations when a loud voice is heard out about 100 yards away from the inn.
"Hey everyone, can one of you come out here and speak with me for a moment please?"
Everyone's eyes widen upon hearing the voice.
"My step-sister…is here" Mei slowly says.
"And she wants to speak with one of us." Sarah adds.
"*W-who will go out and talk with h-her?*" Nyamo nervously asks the group.
"I will." Motoko proudly proclaims.
"Are you sure Motoko?" Keitaro asks.
She nods to him, "Yes. Since we once shared a similar mindset regarding males, I believe I'm the best candidate for potentially changing her mind on males.
He nods in understanding, "Alright, you do that then. I wish you the best of luck. Everyone else, to your positions."
"I'm really proud of you sister." Tsuruko gives a warm smile to her.
She is surprised at what she said, but also feels really happy to be praised by her own sister. Moreover, she called her "sister". This is quite rare and she is usually only called that when Tsuruko is feeling particularly proud of her.
"I-It's nothing sister. But…thank you." She smiles back at her while looking slightly embarrassed.
The girls and Keitaro begin to scramble to their assigned locations. Motoko takes a deep breath.
Alright Motoko, you can do this. You can get through to her. With that thought in mind and nodding slightly to herself at the same time, she bravely opens the door and finds Naru standing at the top of the stairs by herself.
Motoko immediately notices the armor she is wearing and thinks it looks crazy on her. She also sees a red and white megaphone in her right hand.
Seeing Motoko, Naru runs up to her and greets her excitedly, "Motoko! It's been a bit! How've you been?"
She nonchalantly replies, "I've been doing much better these days. How was your vacation with Su? Where is she? Also, what is up with this ridiculous armor you're wearing?"
Naru clams up and begins to slightly sweat at hearing these questions. Additionally, she didn't seem as excited to see her as she thought she would be. "Um…about that. Well…there…was a change of…plans." She begins to laugh nervously. "B-but nevermind that! I have great news!"
"And what exactly would this news be?" She asks as she crosses her arms.
"We can finally replace Keitaro as our manager with a female manager! Additionally, we can also kick out that perverted Anthony and his stupid maid Faye! Purity will finally be restored to our inn! All we have to do is give the inn to a company called RubyCorp!" She announces with enthusiasm.
"Naru, come here, and take your helmet off." Motoko commands as she points to the ground right in front of her.
"Huh? Ok…" She replies with a confused voice as she does as she's told.
SMACK!
Raising her right hand, Motoko delivers the hardest slap she's ever given to a person. Directly striking her left cheek, she tumbles slightly to the right while trying to maintain balance.
"Motoko…?" Naru mutters as a couple tears escape her eyes from how much the pain stings. "Why…why did you just…"
"How utterly shameless." She starts in a low tone, "You escape out of jail, which is quite a dishonorable act on its own as you were unwilling to complete your punishment. You lie about going on vacation and take Su with you. And finally, you are completely willing to betray the residents by trying to have RubyCorp forcefully overtake the inn!"
"Y-you're taking this the wrong way!" Naru says while still rubbing her cheek. "I was wrongfully taken to jail. Keitaro was completely unwilling to help me with getting past those officers and he had the utter nerve to walk out on me when I was being tackled by the officers. If he had helped me, then I would've taken the test normally and none of this would've happened. I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from, right? Despite that unfortunate event, an opportunity sprung from it. A girl named Masako freed me and in exchange for that freedom she requested me to help her take over the inn. This meant I would be free and we would finally get a female manager! It's a win-win situation! I don't know why you think I'm betraying everyone. I'm simply trying to improve our conditions."
Motoko narrows her eyes and gives Naru a frown, "If you were speaking to me about this 4 days ago, then yes, I would've likely agreed with you."
She widens her eyes, "Huh? What are you saying?"
"My eyes have been opened Naru." She declares.
"What do you mean?"
"Listen carefully to what I'm about to say, as it's very important. First of all, Masako and the others are not going to do what they told you they would do. Masako isn't going to take over as manager of the inn."
She stutters in shock, "W-w-what? Why? How would you even know that if you haven't met her?"
"I'm unsure if you've had the chance to speak with Anthony on this or not but Souta came by some days ago and offered to buy the inn. The reason for that is he aims to tear down the inn and build a jewelry store in its place."
"That's…that's exactly what Anthony told me." She says slowly.
"Sounds like he did talk with you after all."
"We did talk, though it was more like we argued. He had the absolute gall to tell me I'm a violent psychopath AND he berated me for how I've acted towards him and Keitaro!"
"He's correct about that." She states flatly.
This statement causes Naru to drop her megaphone and look at her in a mix of bewilderment and shock.
"I…I don't think I heard you right. Can you repeat that?"
"He's correct about that." She repeats. "You have acted absolutely horribly to them both, especially Urashima."
"Are…are you drunk? Do you even know what you're saying? You know they deserved to be punished for their perverted behavior!"
"I do know what I'm saying. I told you Naru, my eyes have been opened. Urashima and Anthony are not perverted. Sure, Urashima may have had many unfortunate accidents in the past, but they were never intentional. Even if it was intentional, we were WAY too harsh. You would've probably killed Anthony that day if it wasn't for Faye saving him. I am utterly ashamed for how I've behaved towards them all this time and I seek to make things right. You should realize this as well and make reparations towards them."
"Motoko." She calls her name in a serious and slightly concerned tone, "Did Keitaro, Anthony, and/or Faye manipulate you into saying these things? What have they done to you? I know you were struggling against Faye earlier, but there's no way you actually submitted to her, have you?"
"Absolutely not! To both of those things!" She shouts. "They did not manipulate me. If anything, Anthony and Faye helped me see where I went so wrong. Faye still frightens me, but I'm by no means her servant or anything. I have nothing but respect for them both. Urashima too, has fully earned my respect. He has done so many things for us when we have done nothing but ridicule and assume the worst of him."
Naru takes a step back in horror, "No…no. How could this be. There's no way you could be Motoko. The real Motoko would never say such things! You hated males! You called them vile, disgusting, perverts, idiots, and many other things! How could you say you respect them now?! What in the world would cause you to change to such a dramatic degree! I thought…we had the same views Motoko."
"A variety of events happened that have allowed me to change my worldview. It would take too long to explain now, but let me tell you this. Some males are indeed vile and disgusting, like that male who tried to rape Mitsune."
"A male tried to rape my best friend?!" She yells furiously. "Show me where that bastard is and I'll send him so far into the stratosphere that I'll-"
"He's already in prison. Besides, that would kill him, and that would be too harsh a punishment. A long prison sentence is just fine. Anyway, while guys like him are awful, there are other males who are absolutely sweet and not perverted. Urashima and Anthony are fine examples of males who fit in that category. I realize this now. Urashima is the best manager we have ever had."
"I…I can't believe you Motoko. I really can't. Are you seriously basically saying you'd rather have Keitaro be our manager than a female?!"
She nods, "Yes. I don't believe anyone else is better suited for the role than him. He takes care of cleaning, he fixes anything from stairs to electric wires, and he comes to our aid whenever one of us is in trouble. He's went above and beyond for each and every one of us. He has given us nothing but kindness and love from the bottom of his heart. While all we've done is cause him grief and misery in return. He could've easily terminated any of our leases at the snap of a finger, yet he never did that. This is what I have come to realize Naru, and I believe it would do you good to come to this realization too."
"So even you have forsaken me, is that right Motoko?" She says in a low tone that is filled with disappointment for her former partner in the pervert patrol force.
"I didn't say that, I simply meant-"
Naru holds up a hand and cuts her off, "No Motoko. I've heard quite enough from you. I'm feeling quite betrayed by you right now. I'm not sure what exactly is blinding you from seeing the truth, but rest assured having Masako as our new manager will ultimately be a great thing, I promise you."
Motoko scoffs, "You feel betrayed by me? We ALL feel betrayed by you!"
She raises an eyebrow in confusion, "All?"
She nods, "That's right, every last person in that inn right now is feeling very betrayed by you. We all know what you have been up to this whole time. You never bothered to ask if we even wanted this. You never explained what was going on the day you escaped the jail and came back here. You even tricked Su into your plans. Everyone is sorely disappointed in you. Even Mitsune and your step-sister, Mei. You're doing this for no one but yourself."
"Mei is here?!" She shouts shocked. "Why?!"
"Long story. Anyway, you better go back and tell Souta, Masako, and the others that we will not give up the inn willingly like this. If you and the others attack, we will retaliate."
"You're…you're kidding me."
"Does it look like I'm joking?" Motoko points to her unamused face. "Now go back and tell them immediately what I told you. If you do not leave, then I will make you do so by force, you traitor."
"I…there's no way you'd actually do that. I'm not trying to betray any of you! I'm really trying to improve our living conditions!"
"Want to try me?" She starts to unsheathe her wooden katana.
Naru finally understands that she is being dead serious. She begins to slowly back away, "F-Fine! You'll regret choosing this path Motoko! Don't come crying to me when you are about to be molested by a male because you let your guard down!" She turns around and begins to run back the way she came, but not before picking up the megaphone.
"One last thing!" Motoko calls out to her which causes her to turn around. "Anthony and Faye better be safe over there right now! If they aren't…" She points to her wooden katana that is partially unsheathed."
Naru does not respond and instead turns back around and runs into the distance.
"Who knew she would fall so low. I can only hope therapy and a long time spent in prison might help clear her mind." Motoko sadly says to herself as she begins to climb the steps to the porch of the inn."
"Failure, I presume? I could hear the shouting from here." Tsuruko asks her as she comes up the steps. Both her and Kanako are standing on either side of the door. Motoko makes her way towards her sister and stands next to her.
"Unfortunately so. It wasn't unexpected. Naru is one of the most stubborn people I have ever met."
Tsuruko gives a slightly devious smile at her, "Reminds me of a certain someone I know."
"S-shut up!" Motoko turns her head away in embarrassment. The other two girls chuckle at her expense.
"I'm really looking forward to giving that girl a taste of her own medicine. I'll show her just what happens when she incurs my wrath by attacking my older brother all these years!" Kanako proudly smiles.
"You definitely…look enthusiastic about beating her up." Motoko replies nervously.
"Oh, I had originally planned to do this to you too you know." She responds while holding up a fist, "But considering you seem to have changed your ways and are now willing to help my big brother, I don't see much of a reason to hurt you anymore. Although, I still really hate you for what you've done all these years to big brother. I'm not sure I can ever forgive you for that."
She sweats a little, "Well…I appreciate what little mercy you're willing to give me."
"Hmph." Kanako turns her head away from Motoko and frowns. Deep down though, Kanako appreciates Motoko at least a little for being willing to assist in this operation.
Meanwhile, Naru returns to the forest right outside the inn where all the maids are lying in wait. She tells them that they won't hand over the inn willingly. She is not shy of expressing her absolute shock that they weren't willing to hand it over. She clearly was not expecting to have to fight at all.
After hearing Naru's report, Souta announces, "Begin Operation Demolishing Hinata Inn!"
"Huh?! What? You're going to demolish the inn on purpose?!" Naru asks while in a state of disbelief.
No one answers her as one of the maids holding a bazooka fires one of the bombs Su made at the mansion towards the inn.
"Bomb incoming!" Mitsune shouts into a radio she is holding in her right hand. Each resident was given a radio by Su for easy, instant communication between each other.
"On it!" Su's voice responds. She is in her room sitting at her main computer. On the main screen are the video feeds of various security cameras that have been installed both inside and outside the inn so that she can keep tabs on everything that is going on. Despite the cameras capturing many different angles, they couldn't keep track of every single square inch of the Hinata Inn premises. That's why Mitsune is on the roof keeping a lookout for anything dangerous coming straight for them.
Grabbing a bazooka of her own and quickly opening the window in her room. She aims and fires a missile towards the sky. These specially made missiles are equipped with a tiny camera to detect any bombs within a hundred feet in front of it. If a bomb is spotted, then the missile will automatically home in on the bomb in an attempt to collide head on with it. The goal of these missiles is to quickly detonate any bombs currently flying through the air before they could reach their destinations. Despite being called missiles, they don't actually hold anything explosive within them.
The missile Su sends out flies through the air. It quickly finds and locks onto the bomb. Changing its trajectory immediately and flawlessly, the missile speeds towards the bomb and quickly collides with it. Thankfully the bomb blows up far enough away from the inn that it suffers no damage. Mitsune and the girls down by the entrance feel a wave of heat come by which causes them to sweat a little, but ultimately does not hurt or harm any of them.
"Tch. They must've found out about our operation beforehand. Su must've told them. I should've just locked her up when I had the chance rather than set her free. I knew I shouldn't have trusted Naru on what she was like." Masako gives a dark glare to Naru. "No matter, we have the numbers advantage. Our maids are also better trained in the martial arts than they are."
Masako commands six of the maids to go out towards the inn. Three of them will go to the front and distract the three individuals protecting that section and the other three will sneak around to the right side and begin to blast at it with their magic.
Meanwhile, Naru is in the middle of an existential crisis. After seeing the bomb they launched, she is starting to realize just how far they are willing to go
Why?! Why are they purposefully trying to demolish the inn?! I thought all we were doing is forcing Keitaro, Anthony, and Faye out of here and then replacing Keitaro with Masako as manager! Why is this all happening?! She then remembers what both Anthony and Motoko told her about Masako's true intentions. Were they…not lying? But they've never even met her!
She then remembers what Anthony told her about Souta coming and trying to buy the inn. Even if he did come here to buy the inn. Why now? Why didn't he try sooner? I know he wanted Faye as well. Wait. She suddenly has a revelation. Maybe he came because he somehow knew Faye was here and wanted take both the inn and her for himself? If only Faye wasn't here, then all this wouldn't have happened. If Anthony wasn't here, Faye wouldn't be here. And if Keitaro hadn't allowed Anthony to live here due to his stupid excuse of amnesia, then neither of them would be here. Keitaro…this is all your fault!
Gritting her teeth and clenching her fists, she makes a declaration in her mind. Keitaro, it is high time for you to pay for what you've done to me. I wouldn't have gone through ANY of this humiliation if you hadn't accepted Anthony into the inn. Prepare yourself…because I'm not going to send you to the next town this time around. I'm going to send you halfway across the freaking world! That way, you can never show your stupid, idiotic, and perverted self to us ever again! My friends will realize just how much they don't need him!
Finishing this thought, she nods to herself and then begins to race off towards the inn. One of the maids calls out to her to tell her to stop and come back, as it wasn't part of the plan, but she doesn't listen. Masako tells her, "Let her go. As long as she knocks the tenants out, I don't really care what she does." She then turns to the maid with the bazooka, "Now, fire!"
Back at the inn, Su launches another unloaded missile to intercede the bomb, which it successfully does. Down at the ground, Naru zooms past the three maids set to begin attacking the tenants guarding the front side of the inn.
The three tenants ready themselves for action. What they aren't exactly ready for is the speed at which Naru goes. Being fueled by rage, she uses her leg muscles to their absolute limits. Busting down the door before anyone can properly react, she begins her search for Keitaro inside the inn.
"Oh no you don't." Kanako mumbles in a threatening tone while turning around. She then darts after her, nearly matching her speed in an instant. This leaves only Motoko and Tsuruko to defend the front.
The three maids get about thirty feet in front of them. One of the maids says while opening and aiming the palms of her hands towards the inn, "Sorry, nothing personal, but we'll be destroying this inn for the sake of our master. Then, we'll build a jewelry store right over it."
Upon saying that, she launches a small fireball towards the second story of the inn. The fire immediately sets the wood which makes up the outer wall on fire.
Motoko snickers and brings out her wooden katana, "Well, then we'll simply do all we can to prevent that."
Running out into the yard, she cries out "Air-Splitting Sword!" and aims her katana at the maid who used the fire magic.
Tsuruko brings up her radio and reports the fire. A confirmation is heard by Su and a moment later a mecha-tama flies over to the front of the inn. Spotting the fire, the mecha-tama opens its metallic mouth and proceeds to spray water all over the flames. They instantly extinguish, but the wood is left with a slightly charred look.
Bringing out her wooden katana as well, Tsuruko charges towards the 3 maids and begins to assist her sister.
-Hinata Town-
Hotaru is currently moping along one of the many sidewalks in Hinata Town. Today is the deadline for arresting Naru. If he does not arrest her by the end of the day, then the chief is going to fire him. If that happens, he will have little hope of ever coming back to work there. His multiple leads have all failed or backfired in one way or another, and he has been unable to get another warrant to search Souta's private estate again.
Feeling at the end of his rope, after going to a local breakfast shop to eat he is seriously considering handing in his resignation letter early and saving himself the embarrassment of being fired.
Just as he is considering this, he hears a bang in the distance. Turning his head towards the source of the noise, he spots the Hinata Inn in the distance.
"What…what in the world is going on up there?! I have to investigate!"
Turning around, he begins to jog toward the inn. He wishes to get there quickly but at the same time he does not want to exert all of his energy just to get there. Along the way, he calls for some other officers to meet up with him.
Meanwhile, in another section of Hinata Town, Hoshiko is making her way towards the mansion when she also hears the giant explosions.
"Could this be the attack Anthony and Faye were talking about? If that's so, then they aren't at the mansion. Time to switch destinations." Turning around, she begins to set forth for Hinata Inn.
-Hinata Inn-
"No one is on this side, we should be all clear. Let's fire away." A maid says to her two comrades. This group of three maids have made their way to the west side of the inn. Planning to start tearing down this side, the maid who spoke raises her hands and before she can fire at the building, a cry is heard.
"HIIIYAAA!" Sarah suddenly bursts out of a hidden contraption and lands right on the maid's face.
"W-what the?!" The other two maids shout in confusion. They raise their hands and are about to attack the instigator when Shinobu launches out from a second trapdoor and slams into another maid.
"Owww…" Shinobu moans in pain. "That was more painful than I thought it would be…"
Sarah tries to offer her some advice, "Oh come on, you just gotta make sure your nerves don't get hit and you won't feel any pain!"
"Easy for you to say." She sighs. "Let's just do this quickly, I don't want to do this anymore than I have to."
Suddenly, a fairly large water ball is thrown at Shinobu by the only maid who is still standing. As the water splashes all over her legs and clothes, as well as the maid she is currently sitting on, the water specifically on Shinobu slowly starts to freeze over. She begins to shiver uncontrollably, and the maid under her quickly makes her escape.
"S-s-s-s-s-oooo c-c-cold…" She mumbles out while her teeth are chattering.
Meanwhile, Sarah is able to quickly lock the maid she is on into a chokehold and is successfully able to make her unconscious without much effort.
"Phew, she shouldn't be getting up anytime soon."
"What did you do to her?!" One of the other maids shouts at her, shocked at seeing the lifeless body of her comrade.
"Relax, she isn't dead. She's just gonna be out for a little while. I should ask what you two have done to HER!" She points rather aggressively at Shinobu.
She breathes a sigh of relief knowing she isn't dead, "I simply had to render her immobile, more or less. At least until our job is finished. Now then, you're up next."
Sarah smirks as she arranges herself into a battle pose, "Alright, try me!"
The maid who fired the water ball earlier begins to attack again, this time charging up an ice ball and launching it at her. She manages to dodge it rather easily. She manages to see the maids seemingly communicate with one another for a brief moment as the one who fired the ice ball runs perpendicular to Sarah's current position.
The maid in front of Sarah holds out her palms and a gush of wind springs forth from them. It's a fairly strong wind. It's strong enough to push her back and forces her to change the direction she is running.
Meanwhile the other maid fires off several more ice balls, all of which fail to hit her. She begins to climb a tree at a speed that would rival Su. The maids barely get the time to look up before Sarah comes crashing down, holding a large circular artifact and slamming it right on the water maid's face. This instantly knocks her unconscious.
"C-Crap!" The last maid utters realizing the situation she is in now. "H-how did she do that?!" She then runs off in the direction she originally came from.
Sarah has a quick thought of chasing after her, but quickly ditches the idea as she is reminded of the situation Shinobu is in by the loud chattering of her teeth, as well as groaning.
"Shinobu! Are you alright?!" She runs to her full of concern.
"S-s-s-s-ooooo c-c-c-c-cold…." Is all she is able to mumble. Her legs are slowly going numb as she tries to get the ice off of herself. Unfortunately, her fingers are constantly shaking from the cold and she is unable to gain any sort of grip on the ice and break it apart.
Bringing out her radio, she quickly says into it, "Mei! I need you here right now! Shinobu is covered in ice! We are on the west side of the inn!"
"Coming!" is the reply. The voice is undoubtedly Mei's.
Meanwhile, inside the inn.
"Where is that idiot? He needs to come out and face me like a man." Naru grumbles as she searches high and low for Keitaro. Interestingly, she has failed to run into anyone else as well. When she goes to check the laundry room, she seemingly finds a huge hole in the wall. Upon closer inspection, she realizes there is a trapdoor right beside it that is colored the exact same color as the rest of the wall.
"What is this?" She asks herself, never seeing passageway before. She wonders if Keitaro may have gone in here, thus she begins crawling in the small, narrow passageway. It is dark and cramped, which causes her to become a little frightened. She occasionally has second thoughts about continuing further. However, her drive to find Keitaro overrides all fears she has about traveling through it, so she trudges on. Eventually, she comes upon a small room. It is tiny, but there also appears to be a small window that allows some light to shine through. She notices that there is an individual in this room, and the light allows her to recognize the person.
"Keitaro…" She seethes.
Jumping slightly at being startled, Keitaro swiftly turns around and spots her. "N-Naru…how did you find me here? W-what in the world are you wearing?" He asks nervously upon seeing her in her armor. He definitely wasn't expecting to see her here of all places.
She replies in a slightly derogatory tone, "Someone left his tracks poorly covered. As for this" She points to her armor, "it's a long story. That isn't important. What IS important, though, is that you get out of here now."
"Why?" He flatly asks.
"You're asking WHY?! Wow, you really are dense. Do you have ANY idea what your perverted behavior has costed us all these years? Then you just had to go out and allow Anthony to live in the inn. I'm sure you're not such an idiot to know how much trouble he has caused for us since he moved in. Especially when he brought that stupid maid here."
"What has happened to those two?" He asks in a low tone.
"Of course you'd want to know what has happened to them two since they've both left the inn. Well, if you must know, Anthony is currently entrapped in a large glass tube thingy thanks to Masako. Hopefully he'll stay in there a good long time while he thinks over the times he got away with his perverted behavior. As for Faye, Masako currently has her wrapped around her little finger. Considering how much we both hate her, it's been fun watching her squirm since she can do nothing to save her beloved master." She shows a smug smile.
"Wow." He gives her a disgusted look, "I simply have no words to describe how disgusting this behavior of yours is. Were you always secretly like this?"
"No. They've both done horrible things to me, why should I care about them at all?"
"At the very least don't be happy they are suffering! You've done absolutely terrible things to me and Anthony, yet I don't wish for your suffering!"
"If you don't wish for my suffering, then why did you let Faye do all that awful stuff to me?! Why did you, her, and Anthony report me to Tokyo U for violence?! I've hardly ever acted up at school!"
"Faye was punishing you Naru. There's a major difference between needing punishment and wishing for your suffering. Also, I didn't report you. Anthony and Faye did, yes, but Haruka went with them, not me."
"Haruka really went with them…why would she…do such a thing…" She shakes her head. "I'll figure that out later. For now, it's about time I said goodbye to you. Masako is going to take over as our new manager, so there is no need for you to stick around any longer. You've served your purpose as manager for long enough. Enjoy your final punch from me, I never want to see your perverted face ever again."
Reeling up her fist for her final punch she would likely ever launch at him, Keitaro is about to try to open the window and escape from her wrath. Before either can complete their objectives, a sinister and unnerving voice is heard within the room. "Not so fast."
At seemingly lightning speed, Naru's arms are quickly pinned behind her back and tied with a rope.
"W-what the?!" Naru shouts as she realizes her hands are no longer able to be freely controlled.
"Fufu…finally. We meet again 'promise girl'."
"Woah…you saved me there Kanako. Thank you." Keitaro expresses his thankfulness.
"K-Kanako?! H-how did you find me?!" She asks in a bit of a panicked voice. Shoot! I didn't even think about her! She's obsessed with Keitaro I think!
Coming in front of Naru, she replies, "I just followed you after you oh so rudely rushed into our inn without even asking. You're quite shameless you know?" She then turns to Keitaro and says with a smile, "No need to thank me big brother. I would do anything to protect you from ungrateful bastards like her." She nudges Naru roughly.
"Kanako!" She loudly calls her name, "Why do you stick up for him like this? Since you're his sister, you should know just how much of an idiot, loser, and pervert this guy is-OW!"
Swiftly and quite forcefully taking her helmet off, Kanako gives her a fairly major punch straight on her left cheek. Blood begins to spill from her mouth and it's quite possible that her jaw is broken.
With a threatening glare and a tone to match, she states, "Say another word about how stupid he is and I'll make sure to increase your pain tenfold. I WOULD send your sorry butt flying over and past Tokyo, but I'm sure you'd die upon impact. Besides, you're currently a wanted criminal, and I'd rather see you behind bars taking a long, hard look at yourself and realizing just how twisted your thinking is. Honestly, I can't believe your brain is still functioning at this point. You betrayed everyone here and blindly believed the words of a stranger you never even met before this week. Masako isn't going to be your new female manager. Heck, she isn't even planning to keep this inn around! They intend to turn this into a stupid jewelry store! Besides, if any female is worthy of being manager of this inn, it's me!"
At that moment, a blast is heard very close by and the room shakes slightly. Keitaro looks out the window, which is located on the back side of the inn, and notices four maids. One of them appears to be manipulating a giant stone and is ramming the back wall with it.
"Dang, I wasn't expecting this many to be back here." Keitaro brings his thumb to his mouth and bites it slightly in worry. "Alright, Kanako, will you help me take care of them?"
She nods, "Of course. I'll do anything if it's to assist you. Although…" She points to Naru, "What do we do with her?"
With her jaw being broken, she struggles to speak and she says somewhat slowly and sounding defeated, "Just let me free. It seems what you and the others are saying about Masako is true. Seeing all that has occurred today has made me realize that. I won't hinder any of you anymore. I'll honestly help you. I don't want a jewelry store to be built anymore than you do. So please…"
Kanako just laughs, "Hahaha! So this is what happens when you reach the end of your sad little rope huh? Good riddance, just stay there and think over all the horrible things you've done. I'll make sure to call the police and have you arrested again once this is done and over with."
Keitaro sadly shakes his head, "Sorry Naru, but after seeing all that you've done, I can't trust you anymore. I'm sure the others feel the same."
With that, Keitaro and Kanako exit out the window to surprise attack the maids. Naru calls out to the former, "You idiot! Come back here and untie me! Can't you see how truthful I am?!"
They barely hear her but decide to ignore it.
"She tricked me…she tricked me! I can't believe I was stupid enough to trust her! She may not be on my side, but the others must still care about me, right?" Despite saying that, for some reason, she begins to doubt slightly that Motoko, Mitsune, Shinobu, and the rest still care about her. "I have to set this right."
Naru begins to slowly crawl her way out of the room through the same passageway she used to enter it.
Meanwhile, outside of the Hinata Inn.
I hope I can find her without being spotted… Nyamo thinks while she walks slowly and quietly into the forest. Keitaro has given her the task of trying to find Faye and/or Anthony and see if they are alright. Due to her darker complexion and also having dark blue hair, she blends in more easily with the various trees in the forest. Plus, the forest is well shaded.
Walking along, she eventually manages to spot Masako and some other maids in the frontlines. However, she sees neither of them. Hiding behind many trees and staying well out of their way, she slowly sees more of the maids. She spots around 12 from what she can see.
Finally, almost at the very back of the line, she spots Faye looking visibly annoyed. However, it's clear she's trying to hide it. She also spots Anthony nearby her stuck in a glass tube, which surprises her. Quietly and carefully, Nyamo attempts to get within their line of sight to alert them of her presence while also not alerting the other maids. Eventually, Anthony does look in her direction and she starts swinging her arms.
He notices her and is about to shout her name, but she quickly puts a finger to her mouth. She then points to Faye, and then to herself.
Realizing her intentions, he whispers to Faye to meet with her. Since they are at the back of the line and the maids are generally paying attention to what is in front of them rather than behind, she is able to slip out for at least a little bit.
"*What is your reason for coming here?*" Faye whispers to Nyamo.
She plays with her hair nervously. She is a little bit intimidated by her due to her stern expression. "*W-well…I simply wanted to see if you and Anthony were ok. Also…are you really going to help them?*"
"*Master is not fine. I'm sure you saw, but he's currently trapped in that tube thanks to that bastard Masako. I unfortunately have to comply with their wishes to some extent to keep him safe. Tell the tenants this. While I do have to heal the maids here, I will also heal any tenants I see in trouble.*"
"*I-I will, thank you. Can I ask one more question?*"
She nods.
"*Why haven't you freed Anthony yet? I've seen your strength and I-I would think you would be able to break that glass…*"
She grumbles a little, which instantly frightens Nyamo. After a moment Faye responds, "*If it was that easy, I would've already done that back when I went to the mansion. Unfortunately, it appears Masako has installed some self-destruction mechanism where if I destroy the tube or the machine connected to the tube, then it'll blow itself up and kill master. I will NOT let that happen…ever.*"
Just then, Masako's loud voice from the front of the line is heard by the both of them, "Faye, get over here now. If you don't, you know what'll happen."
Faye sighs deeply, "*I have to go.*" With that, she goes back to the maids.
Getting the answers she needed, Nyamo decides to return to the inn via the same route. Once she gets a sufficient distance away from the maids, she reports what she has learned.
Unfortunately, there is no response on the other end. The only person who can fully understand her is Keitaro. Shinobu could also possibly understand what she is saying, but it'd be much less compared to Keitaro. Hearing no response leads her to think those two are in trouble. Worried about them, she runs even faster back to the inn to see if they need help.
Back with the maids who have yet to enter the battlefield, Souta impatiently demands they speed up the process of destroying the inn. So far, they've barely made a dent into it.
Masako bows to him, "Yes, I apologize master. I did not anticipate this level of resistance from the residents of the inn. I will send out more maids immediately. The remaining ones here are also much better at martial arts than the initial few we sent out."
She then turns to Faye who has just arrived, "There is a report that 4 of the maids out there have fallen. Go out and heal them immediately."
Gritting her teeth, she begins making her way towards the maids in question. At this point, Faye is in a pretty foul mood. She absolutely despises being ordered by anyone except Anthony. Unfortunately, she has no other choice.
Beginning with the maids in front of the inn, there she finds three maids knocked out. She also finds a very tired Motoko and a slightly less fatigued Tsuruko. Both of them are covered with severe burns to both their clothes and skin.
"Looks rough here." Faye comments on the state of the battlefield.
"It…it was very tough…" Motoko pants out, almost out of breath and in terrible pain.
-Flashback-
"Air-Splitting Sword!" Motoko swings down her wooden katana at lightning speed while rushing towards the maids. Tsuruko is right behind her. Three blades of wind, capable of sending your opponent back several hundred feet depending on the strength of the wind and possibly even cutting them, are sent towards all three maids. One blade for each maid.
"Hehe." A maid chuckles as she simply swings her right hand in a 180 degree arc in front of her. This forms three equally strong wind blades of her own that completely nullify the incoming wind.
"W-wow…it was completely blocked." Motoko utters in shock.
Tsuruko attempts to strike down a separate maid but she is able to back away before the hit can connect.
The maid who dodged Tsuruko suddenly forms a fairly large fireball in her hands and throws it up into the air. The swordmasters are confused as to why she would do this when suddenly the wind maid jumps up and sends a gush of wind toward the fireball. Due to the angle at which she sent the wind, the fireball is sent on a straight course to their opponents. They jump out of the way in time. However, the fireball completely breaks apart once it hits the ground and fire is spread in all directions, catching both of their clothes on fire.
They quickly perform a very precise Air-Splitting Sword attack on each other that doesn't harm or push back either of them, but it does extinguish the fire on both of them. Unfortunately, a bit of their legs are burnt and the pain is strong.
As they continue to duel back and forth, it is evident that Tsuruko possesses superior martial arts skills compared to them. She is able to flawlessly execute numerous different types of attacks and is ultimately able to land some strong hits on them.
Motoko is able to match the maids in martial arts. She wonders how they are able to fight so well in their frilly maid outfits.
The third maid in battle is revealed to have earth magic and mostly acts as a support unit in the battle. She primarily cuts out various small parts of the ground using her mind and hurls the dirt at them with telekinesis. Both of these abilities are standard among any magic earth user.
Finally, after several grueling minutes in battle, two of the maids were able to be knocked out due to a team effort of using "Many Flowers Blooming in Profusion". The only maid left is the one with fire abilities. She is the one who has done by far the most amount of damage to them both. Hitting them both with a direct fireball at separate points during the battle, the two swordswoman have been burned quite badly.
"Now Motoko!" She calls out to her, just a moment ago they had quietly discussed a plan to take out the last maid.
"Chaotic Dance of Wind and Dust!" Motoko cries out while holding out her left hand. Multiple Ki projectiles rocket out of her hand like bullets. They aren't lethal, but they can cause serious injuries if hit by a lot of them. This is a bit much, but hopefully Anthony will allow Faye to heal them later. Or perhaps their own healers can help.
She is able to dodge them effectively, but she is unable to focus on anything else. This is when Tsuruko uses her opportunity to strike, "Crimson Lotus Fist!" She shouts as she runs behind the maid. The maid realizes just a second too late what is going on and right as she turns around to face Tsuruko she is punched right in the jaw, instantly breaking it and knocking her unconscious.
Motoko collapses to the ground from exhaustion, and Tsuruko looks visibly fatigued.
"They are well trained. Is that mansion really full of maids that are this talented at martial arts?" Tsuruko wonders out loud while panting lightly.
-Flashback End-
Motoko eyes her with weariness, "Are…you here to fight us? Or…are you here for another reason? If you are here to fight, then I'm sorry, but I'll have to take you on."
Faye shakes her head, "I could, but that isn't in my best interest. Master wishes for this inn to survive, and I intend to have that happen to the best of my ability. However, that bastard Masako will hurt master if I go against what she tells me. Thus, this is what I'm going to do."
Going towards Motoko's back, she begins the healing process for her. Every single burn mark on her skin completely disappears like they never appeared in the first place. The pain also completely goes away. Unfortunately, her clothes are unsalvageable. She repeats the same process for Tsuruko.
"Thank you Faye for doing this. We won't forget this." Tsuruko expresses her gratitude.
"Yes…thank you. I feel so much better and stronger now!" Motoko gives her a warm smile.
"Don't thank me yet. You're going to have to fight them again."
"W-what?" Motoko questions, unsure if she heard her correctly.
"I have no choice. Masako is possibly watching me. I'll compensate by not healing them quite as much as I did for you two." With that, she begins the healing process for the three maids. They quickly regain consciousness and Faye goes on her way.
Motoko sighs, "Well, it's not like I don't understand what she is going through. I guess our prediction was correct. Let's go sister."
Tsuruko nods and they once again head into battle.
Meanwhile, on the east side of the inn. Five maids are approaching the wall on that side.
"Five maids approaching the east wall!" Mitsune warns everyone through her radio.
"Thank you Mitsune. We need some people to go deal with that. Take the large mecha-tama if you need it." Su announces. A camera is mounted on the east outside wall and she is able to see them quickly approach.
Four people answer the call. Haruka, Mutsumi, Emi, and Sachiyo. As they are outnumbered, they do take her offer to bring the mecha-tama with them. They have all been given basic mecha-tama operation training, so they more or less know how to use it.
As they group up in the kitchen, they begin to hear loud banging right outside the kitchen wall. Throwing open a door in the kitchen that leads straight outside, they somehow are able to push the giant mecha-tama out the door and quickly meet the maids causing havoc.
Mutsumi, wearing the stealth suit she found in Su's room a while back, dashes her way towards the maids with her wooden katana outstretched. Thanks to the attack coming as a total surprise, she is able to successfully strike one of the girls.
Unfortunately, Mutsumi isn't all that strong in terms of pure brute strength, so while the attack does hurt the maid, it doesn't really inconvenience her all that much. It especially doesn't help that the one maid in the back of the group suddenly comes up and lays a hand on her shoulder, causing a small white light to emanate at that spot.
"Ah thank you. I feel much better now after that rude surprise attack." She then glares at Mutsumi. "Also, what the heck is that suit? You look like an alien from mars, and an ugly one at that."
She clicks her tongue, "Tch. It would be good for you to know that it's not the looks that matter, but the usefulness of it."
"Let's do this!" Emi shouts. She looks to her left and notices that a giant dent has been imprinted into the wall and that the wall is on fire.
Sachiyo notices this as well and she instantly pulls out a remote control for the mecha-tama. Guiding its head to face the fire, she has it spray a large amount of water at it. Thankfully, the fire goes out. However, the wall, severely weakened with both the burnt wood and the dents made into it, couldn't handle the pressure of the water being sprayed at it. All of a sudden, a portion of the second-floor wall fully collapsed.
"Oh no!" She cries out.
While they are distracted, the maids begin their attack.
Up on the roof, Mitsune is feeling various small vibrations from the various attacks hitting the inn. She begins to get a little worried.
"Perhaps I should head down now. I'm scared that this roof is gonna collapse at some point. I think Su can handle the surveillance of the area with her cameras well. I'm gonna see if Kei needs help."
Turning and preparing to head down the steps, she sees a somewhat disgruntled figure heading up the stairs. She recognizes the long, smooth brown hair almost immediately.
"N-Naru?!" She hesitatingly unsheathes the wooden katana she has on her person. "What is up with that armor you're wearing?!"
"M-Mitsune! I had it all wrong!" She begins to sob. She does not notice the katana Mitsune has.
"Huh?" She lowers the katana slightly once she realizes she is not about to attack.
"Masako fooled me! I thought RubyCorp was going to take over the inn and she would become the new manager. But instead she's going to tear down this inn and turn it into a jewelry store! W-what do we do?! I don't have anywhere else to live!"
"Yes you do. There's a perfect place for you to go."
"We've been through this! I can't go back to my house."
"Not there. I'm talking about prison."
Her eyebrows raise in shock. "What…? Why…do you wish I go there?"
"Do I really need to spell it out for you?" Mitsune narrows her eyes, "You should know deep down why all of us are disgusted with you."
"But…you are my best friend…you can't…"
"You used to be my best friend Naru. You were someone I could confide in about my problems, someone I could be my real self with, at least to some extent. Someone I could share a laugh with and the only person I could convince to drink with me and is at the legal age to do so."
"Used to be…?" She begins to tear up at the thought of losing Mitsune as her best friend, and maybe even as a friend in general.
"Yes. You betrayed everyone here by assisting RubyCorp with overthrowing the inn. I've realized how much of an absolute jerk you have been to Anthony, Faye, and ESPECIALLY Keitaro. How can I trust you after all you have done?"
"They deserved it Mitsune! Keitaro and Anthony have proven they are perverts. I have never tried to attack Faye, just so you know. I just don't understand why she follows Anthony so devotedly. Also, don't try to make yourself sound like you're all righteous. You constantly conned Keitaro to give you money or extensions to your rent deadline by seducing him. Finally, I wasn't betraying you guys! I was simply trying to have Keitaro replaced with a female manager! Then, we could kick him out and purity would be restored! None of us would have to worry about getting groped or molested ever again! Ow…" Naru rubs her cheeks and chin trying to soothe the pain. She forgot that her jaw is broken and used it way to roughly.
Mitsune frowns. She tilts her head down so that Naru can no longer see her eyes, which are now covered by her hair. Slowly approaching her, her head remains low as she raises her right hand.
SMACK!
"Owwww!" Naru yelps as the slap to her cheek is incredibly painful. Much more than usual. "Mit…Mitsune…?" She begins to shed new tears from the pain, "Why…? WHY?!"
Mitsune looks down on her with a condescending look, "Just listen to yourself. You sound ridiculous. I can't believe after all you've been through you still haven't realized that you brought this all upon yourself."
"What…do you mean?"
"I admit I have wronged Keitaro and Anthony, the former especially so. I admit that I have conned him out of my money numerous times. I admit that I have set him up to get attacked by you and Motoko for my amusement. And that right there is where our differences lie. I ADMIT to what I have done wrong. I know what I have done is very immoral. You, on the other hand, still believe you have been in the right all this time, even after there has been countless evidence proving Keitaro's groping and peeping incidents have been accidents. On a separate note, you never even ASKED any of us if we even wanted to replace our manager!"
"I…I assumed all of us, or at least half of us, secretly wanted a new manager. Specifically, a female one."
"You have assumed very poorly. In the past, I suppose it is probably true you, Motoko, and Sarah would've been more than happy to kick him out. I personally liked having him around. Su also really likes him, despite her extremely dangerous way of showing it. As for Shinobu, are you actually so stupid to think SHE of all people would want him gone? She was the only one who was truly kind to him this whole time!"
"I…" Naru opens her mouth to say something in response, but she can't think of anything to say. She thought Mitsune would've comforted her in her time of distress and she has gotten the complete opposite treatment. Where did the usual carefree drunk go? She hasn't seen her so serious and authoritative since before they moved into the Hinata Inn. Mitsune reminded her of Haruka from how she is acting.
"Now." Mitsune resumes, "Absolutely everyone wants Keitaro to remain as manager. That includes Motoko and Sarah."
"How? Why? Have you all been brainwashed somehow? How can this be?"
She rolls her eyes, "You missed quite a lot while you were gone. Not to worry though, it is not because of brainwashing." Pausing for a moment, she thinks of something, "Give me a moment."
She turns around and takes several steps away from Naru. Giving a quick glance back to make sure she didn't follow her, she brings out her radio.
"Su? Are you there?"
She responds, "Yes, you need something Mitsune?"
"Get the cage in your room ready. I have someone who needs to go in there. We'll be there in a couple minutes."
"Alright. Will do."
Returning the radio to her pocket, she goes back to Naru and tells her to follow her. She obeys without question.
Reaching Su's room, Naru wonders aloud, "Why are we here?"
"You'll see." Mitsune cryptically responds.
Opening the door, Naru is shocked to see how empty it is. Nearly all the plants and vegetation are completely gone. Likewise, nearly all her machines are missing too, including the nuclear reactor. All that is really left in the room is a chair and a desk with three monitors on it.
Due to the emptiness, she spots Su almost right away. She is immediately about to lash at her for the mess she put her in, but stops herself upon realizing that she looks a lot taller than normal.
"Is that you Su?"
Turning around to greet her visitors, Su says, "Ah, hello Naru. It appears that you've seen better days."
"And I wonder who's fault THAT is." She scoffs.
"Technically mine, yes. However, that was the younger version of me you were dealing with. You should've known how she acts."
Naru sighs in annoyance, "I don't wanna talk about that right now. Can you guys just please tell me why I'm here?"
"Come over here." Mitsune guides her over to the entrance of the cage. With a mighty shove, she pushes her into the cage and swiftly closes it.
"W…what?! You traitor! How could you do this?!" She shouts in both confusion and utter shock while banging on the bars. How could her best friend do this to her?!
Mitsune shakes her head, "Like I said, you betrayed us first. I don't know what else you planned over there with Masako, but better safe than sorry. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to find Keitaro and assist him."
Suddenly turning submissive, she calls out, "Wait! Come back! I'm sorry! I'll do anything you want, so please let me free!"
She ignores her pleas until she gets to the exit. Turning around to face her one last time, she along with Su notice that tears have formed in her eyes.
In a stern but noticeably somber tone, she says, "Sorry Naru, but I've lost all faith in you. We're through. Goodbye."
She softly shuts the door behind her, leaving Naru with only Su to keep her company.
The former begins to cry, "No…I didn't want this to happen. Why did she walk out on me? We were best friends for forever. Why would she abandon me at the drop of the hat like that? I don't understand…" A few moments later she mutters softly, "Mitsune…please…"
Su sighs and sits back in her chair, "Take a long, hard look at yourself and perhaps you'll find the answer as to why she did that." With that, she returns to her surveillance duty. Additionally, she continues to blast bombs out of the sky with her trustworthy bazooka.
As Naru sits in her cage sobbing, she begins to recall what Anthony had told her yesterday. He was totally right about Masako's intentions. And while he never said it directly, he sounded like he knew the tenants would not welcome her back. He was right about that too.
She pounds a fist onto the ground while a tear wets down her fist, "Dang it. That perverted idiot was actually right about those things after all…"
Back outside, Faye makes her way to the west side of the inn where the other two maids who are knocked out are. Once she reaches the area, she finds Sarah, Shinobu, Mei, and Nyamo all there.
Shinobu, currently shivering, is huddling up against Mei. The latter has made a ring of fire that surrounds them both floating in mid-air. Providing considerable warmth to Shinobu, she slowly starts to shiver less and less violently.
"Again, I'm really sorry I couldn't come sooner. Are you feeling better now?" Mei asks Shinobu.
"Y-yeah…I'm f-feeling much b-better now. Just…s-stay like this for a moment longer p-please." She chatters a bit.
"Everyone alright here?" Faye asks nonchalantly.
The three look at her and Sarah nervously gets into a poor defensive stance, unsure whether she is an enemy at the moment or not.
Faye notices the looks of concern on their faces as well as Sarah's pose. "No need to worry. As long as you bring no harm to master or get on his bad side, you are not my enemy."
Their faces relax upon hearing this comforting news.
"Now then, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I'll heal you all from any fatigue or injuries you have. So Mei, put down your fire."
Mei does as she is asked. She comes up to both her and Shinobu and places a hand on both of them. Two small glowing balls of white light begin to shine from where she is touching them. Once a few moments pass, she takes her hands off of them.
Mei feels completely rejuvenated from the healing, "Wow! It's like I never used up any mana! Thank you!"
"I also feel great!" Shinobu comments on her state of health, "The chilling feeling left almost as soon as you touched me! You're incredible. After Senpai, you're the person I want to be like the most!"
Faye does not comment on her praise and instead says, "Onto the bad news. I'll have to revive these maids here. If I don't, Masako will know and master may be harmed. Master's safety comes above all else. Thus, I have no choice."
Sarah sighs in annoyance, "That's terrible, but I understand. I don't want Anthony to be harmed under any circumstances either. So do what you have to do. Though…please do this first."
Bringing out her radio, she asks Faye to report to the tenants the state of her and Anthony. She does so as briefly and quickly as possible, as she does not have much time. Mitsune and Su acknowledge the report. They tell her that they understand their situation and as such will not fight her.
After that, Nyamo says, "*Um…is everything good here? I want to find Keitaro.*"
Shinobu smiles at her, "*Everything good. Find Senpai please. Help him.*"
With a nod and smile in return, she rushes off to the backside of the inn.
After telling the remaining two girls that she'll heal the maids only to some extent, Faye proceeds to work her magic. A few moments later, the maids regain consciousness.
"I must go. Good luck." Faye says as she follows the same path Nyamo took.
As Faye rounds the corner, she finds Keitaro completely passed out and Kanako desperately fighting against 3 maids at once and failing.
Looks like they were too much for them. Faye thinks.
She is correct in her deduction. When Keitaro and Kanako initially encountered them, they were able to get a great first strike in. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there.
Prior to this week Keitaro's fighting abilities were next to none. Sure, he had an invulnerable body, but that didn't really mean much if you didn't know how to use it effectively. It's not like he had no fighting skills whatsoever. Kanako had taught him some basic self-defense and offensive martial arts, but he didn't really feel like continuing his training due to various reasons. Now, that lack of training was really beginning to catch up to him. The rigorous training over the past few days did alleviate some of his non-combat skills. However, that could only do so much.
Facing off against these maids who have had several years of experience, he simply couldn't hold a torch to them. He got kicked, scorched, and a water maid even froze his legs for a small period of time before Kanako was forced to give him a small kick to knock the ice off.
It also didn't help that Keitaro was hesitant to attack the maids. He has always operated under the philosophy that women are weaker than men and thus need to be protected. This is despite the fact that he was living with two girls who were more than capable of defending themselves. He hated attacking women and this is a large reason why he never retaliated against Naru, Motoko, or Su's attacks.
Noticing her brother's hesitance and likely knowing why, Kanako was quick to tell him that these girls will stop at nothing to destroy the inn that he and his precious friends are living in. Would he really rather run the risk of their precious home getting demolished just so he can keep some girls from harms way? Or should he prioritize the feelings, goals, and desires of his friends?
This really strikes a chord with him and after thinking for several moments, he concludes that his friends and the feelings they hold are far more important to him. He slaps himself for hesitating like that and continues on with the battle.
Perhaps the biggest issue the two have while they battle is Keitaro's state of health. As Keitaro had not gotten attacked by any of the girls for several days, alongside all the drama that was going on, he had largely forgotten that his invincibility was slowly disappearing. The fact that this was happening suddenly hit him, quite literally. After getting attacked many times, he thought he would regenerate rather quickly. To his horror, the burns and cuts he was getting were not going away. At all. He realized that his invincibility is completely gone.
The two were able to work together and knock the healing maid unconscious. However, she was the only one they were able to take care of. It wasn't much longer after she went unconscious that Keitaro likewise did the same after exerting too much energy and being in too much pain. This infuriates Kanako to borderline murderous levels and begins a full offensive approach.
Unfortunately, while she does begin to attack much faster and aggressively, they are not strategically planned at all and are very predictable. The three maids, one using earth, another using fire, and the last using water, utilize this to their advantage and beat up Kanako to the point that she is about to fall unconscious herself. This is when Nyamo arrives.
Using her specialty of speed, she is able to launch onto the battlefield super quickly. She jumps up, turns 90 degrees, and outstretches her legs. Colliding with the earth maid, she is able to make her completely lose her footing and fly a number of feet back.
"Nyamo…? Oh…" Kanako pants and groans while slowly looking in her direction with her fully bruised and scorched face. "About time some help arrived…"
Sadly, she is unable to understand anything she is saying. Instead, she focuses her attention on the other two maids who still pose a great threat.
They try to launch fireballs and iceballs at her, but she is able to effortlessly dodge every last projectile. While she has their attention, Faye approaches Kanako.
"You look terrible gothic girl." Faye simply comments.
"Thanks captain obvious. Do you *pant* have any other helpful information for me? Like *pant* if you're going to attack us or not?" She scoffs as much as she is able to. "And stop with *pant* that awful nickname. I deserve *pant* more respect *pant* than that."
"Your attitude could use some work." She sighs, "I'm not going to attack you. Quite the opposite." Placing a hand on her shoulder, she begins the healing process.
A few moments later, Kanako looks good as new. Her energy returns as well. Examining her body for any signs of injury at all, she fails to find any. A small awe of amazement escapes her mouth, "You weren't kidding. You really can heal any injury."
"Of course." She replies with a tone that implies it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"Now, heal big brother." She demands while pointing at him.
Faye crosses her arms and gives her an annoyed look, "I don't take orders from you."
"Is now really the time for that?" She returns the look.
"He will be healed. But not because you told me to." She begins to walk over to him.
"Oh yeah? What's the reason?"
"Master desires for this inn and all of you to be safe and sound. By doing this, I'm fulfilling his desires. That is my reason."
By now the maids fighting Nyamo are getting frustrated with how swift and nimble she is. They have failed to land a single hit on her still. Shifting their focuses back to where Kanako is for a moment to see what she is doing, they notice that she seems to have miraculously recovered from her injuries. They also see Faye and a glowing light emanating where Keitaro's unconscious body is.
"Oh crap, don't tell me she's healing them?!" The fire maid exclaims worried.
"Yeah, she's not supposed to do that. Looks like she never intended to assist us in the first place. Come on, let's report this to head maid Masako and master . They'll know what to do." The water maid says.
The other two maids agree and quickly leave the area.
Nyamo, overhearing them, sees them run off as she is about to try to land an attack on them. "*Why are they running away? If only I could understand them! I should really take Japanese someday…*" She makes a mental note that when she goes back to Pararakelse island, she will enroll in a Japanese language course.
She returns to the other three and confirm that Keitaro has recovered perfectly thanks to Faye's magic.
"I…I can't believe it. My invincibility is truly gone…"
"I'm so sorry that I couldn't protect you big brother! I promise I won't make such a major mistake again!"
Keitaro smiles at her and gives her a hug, "Don't worry about it. I know you did the best you could."
"Big brother!" Her heart begins to race as she embraces him. Being able to be this intimate with him is actually rather rare. So she is definitely not going to pass up this opportunity to savor the feeling of being in direct contact with his skin.
Faye, now that her job is done here, proceeds to tell them she is going to go. All three give their thanks to her.
Continuing on her journey around the inn, she decides to peek at the east side and see what is going on. She finds that there are 9 people locked in combat.
Masako might see me from that side, unlike the back. I should stay uninvolved for now. Perhaps I should return. I do wish to be with master again. She thinks. She ultimately decides to return to Anthony. Running back, she sees Mitsune who has come out to check on Keitaro and the others.
Back on the east side, Emi and Sachiyo are very surprised to see how well these maids are fighting.
"You guys are good, I must admit." Emi states as she attempts to strike Reiko. Reiko manages to stop the katana that is swinging her way by clasping the blade carefully with both hands.
She smirks, "Why thank you. I must be at least this good so that I can make Mako happy!"
Emi asks her, "Why are all of you doing this? Don't you know how terrible this is, trying to take a home people live in by force?"
As they again exchange blows, Reiko tries to conjure up a sharp stream of water to puncture her with. Thankfully, she manages to dodge. This is when she responds, "The rest of the maids simply wish to do what Souta asks of them, more or less. As for me personally? I could care less what that idiot wants. All I want is to make Mako happy. I'll do anything to ensure she remains happy. Even if that means I have to resort to…some less than pleasing methods." She smirks and again tries to puncture Emi. "Like killing you all, for example."
The other girls gasp in horror upon hearing this. "Wow, that's really appalling. Do you have any shame?" Haruka asks. She's by far the best fighter out of girls defending the inn. Having taken a number of martial arts courses back in the day, she definitely knows how to take care of herself should the need arise. She is able to keep even with and even outplay the wind maid she is fighting against.
Reiko eyes Haruka with a look that is…disturbing, to say the least. "Eh? Appalling? You're making some pretty bold claims old lady. All I'm doing is trying to make my best friend happy by any means necessary."
"Old lady?!" She shouts, offended. "You're rather disrespectful to your elders, aren't you?"
"So what if I am? What are you gonna do about it?" She sticks her tongue out at her.
"Why you disrespectful brat!" She shouts. She thinks that Reiko's personality is very similar to Sarah's old personality. Actually, the former's behavior appears to be worse than the latter's.
At that moment, there is a loud voice that booms over the entire Hinata Inn. Reiko squeals upon hearing the voice, "That's Mako!" Fighting then ceases for the moment.
While the girls try to figure out who the heck Mako is, they hear this from the person in question:
"Attention everyone; It appears Faye has betrayed us by healing the Hinata Inn residents. Due to that, the destruction of the inn has been severely delayed. To drastically speed up the process, I will be taking this matter into my own hands. Everyone has thirty seconds to vacate the premises. If you are so foolish as to remain, then you will likely be killed on the spot. Consider this your only warning."
"What…what is she planning on doing?!" Mutsumi shouts, terrified.
"I don't know." Haruka replies, barely keeping a neutral expression. "But she sounded very serious. We need to leave now."
"But what about the others?!"
"I trust they can make it out on their own."
Over the next thirty seconds, everyone is able to vacate the premises rather easily. The only people remaining inside the inn are Su and Naru.
Naru, who at this point has just become a sobbing mess, barely notices the cage beginning to shrink. The cage is actually quite rather large and could easily fit 10 people comfortably within it. Now, it is rapidly shrinking to only just be capable of holding one person.
"Good thing I installed this shrinking device to it." Su says, holding a remote that controls the device. "I remember installing this so I could capture a variety of different sized animals.
Quickly throwing the cage onto one of the mecha-tamas in the room, Su then grabs a giant remote that is sitting on her desk. Climbing onto the back of another mecha-tama, she quickly punches a bunch of buttons on her remote. The mecha-tamas spring to life and they quickly escape through the window.
Back at ground level, Masako takes many steps forward so that she is facing the inn completely.
"Ugh." She complains to herself. "I hate using a bunch of mana like this, but I have no choice. I'll have to tap into Anthony's Ki supply as well to make this work. Faye's going to be furious with me, but I don't care, she deserves it. She will be distraught to see her master in such awful pain and know that she can do nothing about it." She smiles to herself when she imagines what sort of hopeless face she will make.
Beginning the shapeshifting process, Masako circulates a bunch of mana that is residing within her body, laying dormant all this time. Forming an image of the creature she wishes to take shape of in her mind, her body begins to slowly morph and shift.
First, her skin begins to harden and turn brown. Next, her hands shift and morph into two large, giant claws. Then, she is forced to fall flat on her face as her legs shift to look like one you would see on a scorpion or crab. Six more legs pop out in quick succession. Her face morphs into the exact shape of a scorpion. A large tail emerges from her behind and arcs itself over her back, just like a real scorpion. Finally, she maneuvers one of her new legs to push a button on a small remote that fell onto the ground as she was transforming.
As soon as she presses it, Anthony beings to shriek in pain.
"MASTER!" Faye screams in complete concern for him. She desperately tries to break down the glass barrier by kicking and punching it relentlessly. However, she begins to feel more and more hopeless as the glass refuses to show even one crack on itself.
Feeling an incredible amount of Ki flowing throughout her veins, curtesy of Anthony, Masako begins to fuel the growth of her new form. Considering the size of a normal scorpion, she was already five times the size. As she begins her growth spurt, she quickly grows six, seven, and ten times the regular size. This all happens in a matter of seconds. By the time her growth is complete, she is at least 20-30 times the size of a regular sized scorpion. Her maximum height is just slightly higher than the height of the inn.
Maneuvering herself so that her backside is facing the inn, she lowers her tail to ground level on the east side of the inn. Then, in one swift movement, she swings her body so that her tail collides with the Hinata Inn. Grazing it along the entire bottom half, the support beams and the entire first floor is completely and utterly destroyed. Without the support beams to help support it, the entire second floor comes crashing down a second later.
In just one attack, the entire inn has fallen.
"Oh my gosh…" Sarah says
"No…no way…" Mutsumi utters.
"Did…did it just…" Shinobu starts to tear up.
"My big brother's inn! No!" Kanako angrily yells.
"It actually fell." Haruka states in a monotone voice. Despite that, she is just as shocked as everyone else.
"We failed to protect it…we're so sorry." Emi and Sachiyo say simultaneously.
"I couldn't do anything again. Why does this always happen?!" Mei pounds the ground in frustration and sadness.
"Those bastards actually went and did it. They destroyed our home. Naru, are you please with how this all turned out?" Mitsune asks her with a displeasing voice despite not being with her.
"*I'm so sorry Keitaro.*" Nyamo begins to sob after seeing the wreck, "*You must be disappointed in me. I couldn't protect anything or anyone.*"
"Sister it's…it's gone. Our home…it's…gone." Motoko also begins to cry into Tsuruko's shoulders. "Why?! Why us?!"
Tsuruko silently pulls her into a hug.
"Was our entire plan a giant waste of time?" Su says somberly. She then glares at Naru with hateful eyes and asks in a condescending tone, "Well? Was it everything you ever hoped it would be?"
Still sobbing, Naru is barely able to utter a reply. "I…I never wanted this. I never wanted this." Actually, she barely even notices that the inn is demolished.
"I can't believe it… My grandmother's inn, which has stood proud for so many years, was completely annihilated just like that? Am I having a nightmare? If so, I hope I wake up soon." Keitaro says, partially unable to believe what he just saw.
-Base of Hinata Inn-
Hoshiko and Hotaru reach the beginning of the long stairway. Somewhere along the way they crossed paths and since they were going to the same location, they decided to walk together. Behind them are 6 police officers. Hotaru explains why he is coming here and asks her why she is here. The only answer she gives is that she is seeing a few friends.
Looking up they manage to catch Masako in her giant scorpion form. Due to being at the base of the giant hill, they can't see anymore than that.
"What…what in the world is that thing?!" Hotaru points in horror at the giant monstrosity. He considers running away right then and there. The officers behind him consider the same thing.
Hoshiko heavily sighs, Just what is Masako doing up there that warrants the need to transform like that? Is she an idiot?
She then responds to him, "Just follow my lead. You have an arrest you need to make, right?"
He nods timidly.
"Then let's go."
They all begin to climb the steps.
-Hinata Inn-
Everyone just stares in both horror and awe at the wreck that used to be Hinata Inn. Although, back where the glass tube is located a moaning can be heard.
"O-o-o-o-o-hhhh…t-t-that was a-awful. I c-can't believe t-t-his has h-happened t-twice now…" Anthony curls into a ball and shivers. "I-I-I want to get out of here!" He begins to freak out a little.
Faye, at his side, is doing absolutely everything in her power to comfort him.
"I completely understand master. I'll take care of this right away. I don't know how much of this will reach you, but please, take as much as you are able to."
Fine tuning her mana as much as she possibly can, a small white beam begins to form at her palms. Following a specific path, the beam travels to the top of the glass tube and slips down the tiny opening that is there so that Anthony can breathe. The magic gradually loses its effectiveness on the way down, but some of it does manage to reach Anthony. Slowly, this heals the aftereffects of the absolutely brutal pain he just went through. The soothing feeling of her healing magic running through his veins puts him to sleep.
Glad that her healing has done the trick, Faye gives him a big smile, "Rest easy master. It will all be over by the time you wake up."
Souta is very pleased about the results of the attack and is not afraid to show it, "Finally! We did it! We actually did it! Now we can-"
"Masako." The name, uttered in a loud and firm voice, dripping with venom, ripples across the battlefield, cutting him off. However, he is unsure who the owner of the voice is.
Reiko, in the eastern side of the forest, hears it as well and starts to get a bit nervous. That voice…it's filled with killing intent! Just who would want to kill my dear Mako?! I'll find whoever it is and put a stop to it right away! Even if I must kill him or her! With that, she makes her way towards the source of the voice.
Motoko and Tsuruko also notice the killing intent. Since they heard Anthony scream, it doesn't take the former long to figure out just who is enraged. Motoko says, "This…this is the nastiest aura I think I've ever encountered. Faye's filled with unrelenting rage. She could absolutely snap at any moment."
The latter replies, "That is very true. Let's hope it doesn't come to that, or that Anthony can stop her in time."
Masako, still in her giant scorpion form and feeling the killing intent, turns around and faces the individual who has just re-entered the premises of the Hinata Inn. It is exactly the person she expected to see, Faye.
Despite being in her current form, she is somehow still able to speak clearly, "Why hello down there." She tries to form the best grin that she can. "Do you have business with me?"
She is not amused in the slightest. "Cut the crap you bastard. You know exactly why I'm here." Every single word she utters is filled with venom and hatred.
Shrugging with her giant claws, she replies, "It's your fault you broke the contract."
"The contract never said I couldn't help them. And anyway, screw the contract. You went WAY to far."
"Oh, did I now? Thanks to your meddling, I was forced to transform into a giant creature that takes more mana than what I have on hand. So if you want to blame anyone for what Anthony went through, blame yourself."
Just as Faye is about to retort her reply, another voice is heard close by.
"HEY! Just what do you think you're trying to do to Mako?!" Reiko shouts as she approaches the two.
"Hello Reiko. Faye here is just being a whiny brat because I took some of Anthony's Ki and made him go through some pain."
"Is that so? I'm sorry that you have to deal with the likes of her. Especially after what she did you too you last year. I can't believe she thinks she can even still speak to you. How shameful." She turns to Faye and gives her a dirty look.
"Reiko. I suggest you stay out of our business. If you don't. I'll consider you an enemy as well." Faye threatens. She turns to Masako, "You're the one to blame for master's torture. You had no reason to resort to this."
Reiko laughs a little, not exactly feeling all that threatened, "Fufu! Is that so? What are ya gonna do if that's the case?"
"If necessary, I will kill you."
She widens her eyes. She didn't exactly expect this threat to be made, nor this seriously as well. This causes her to tense up slightly. Although she quickly realizes that Faye is only capable of martial arts and healing. She has no offensive magic at her disposal. Thus, Reiko has the clear offensive advantage.
Deciding to offer a challenge she feels she can surely win, she says "Alright, if you can get one hit in. I won't bother you two anymore."
At nearly lightning speed, Faye swoops in and punches her so hard she is sent flying back about a hundred feet before crashing straight into a tree. Everyone is shocked to see how ruthless she is.
This causes Masako to get really angry, "Not just Asuka, but Reiko too?! Do you intend to kill all my friends?! You heartless monster!" Snapping her claws, she is not far off from just attacking her.
"I never killed Asuka. Why can't your brain understand that? And you are the heartless monster for tormenting master not once, but TWICE now. Do you have ANY idea what he is going through?"
She briefly remembers the conversation she had with Anthony right outside the mansion. However, she quickly shakes her head in an attempt to forget that. "Enough with your lies!" Suddenly and swiftly, she picks up Faye with her right claw. "Now then, I think it's about time you accept your punishment for killing Asuka. Yui. Press the button."
Despite not wanting to do it at all, she timidly reaches down into her pocket and brings out a remote that looks exactly the same as the one Masako was carrying with her earlier. Mumbling, "Anthony, I'm so sorry." She presses the button.
Anthony is jolted awake by the unrelenting pain entering his body once again. Once again, a blood-curdling scream can be heard across the premises.
It is at this point that Hoshiko and Hotaru finally reach the top of the stairs and see exactly was is going on before them.
They both put their hands to their mouths as they take in the chaos. Looking up, Hoshiko realizes that Faye is in serious danger. She calls out her name, but she doesn't turn in her direction.
Faye's entire body begins to tremble. "That's it."
"As you hear his cries, you shall be crushed to death by my claw. Goodbye Faye, I hope I never see you again. Here, or in the afterlife." Masako begins to slowly close her claw.
As Faye's body begins to squeeze, unbearable pain attacks her entire body. She trembles, she shakes, and she closes her emerald green eyes. "That's it."
"Hmm? What's that? I can't hear you. Come on. Scream, cry, let me hear your agony. Don't bore me now!" She taunts.
She repeats, "That's it."
"That's it what? Give me something to work with here."
"That's it Masako. You who decided to torment Anthony, I will never forgive you. For your crimes, I will kill you."
Opening her eyes, Masako is shocked to see that her eyes have turned from emerald green to a dazzling red. The color is nearly identical to her own eye color. The shade of red is just a little bit lighter compared to hers.
On instinct, Faye raises her palms and points it directly at Masako's chest. More specifically, her heart. Channeling all her mana to her hands, a bright red light beam emanates from her palms and travels directly to her chest.
Hoshiko, who is observing this from the back, also sees the lights. Oh my goodness! She actually achieved it! If she isn't stopped, then Masako really will die! Rushing into the forest, she quickly spots Anthony towards the back, behind everyone else, stuck in a tube.
Presuming this is the only person Faye cares about, then he's the only one who can stop her! Reaching the tube, she finds that he is struggling to recover from the latest round of traumatic pain.
"Anthony! Anthony! Can you hear me?" She tries to get his attention.
"Head…mistress…?" He slowly mumbles out of his mouth. Suddenly realizing that he is being talked to, he jolts up into a sitting position. However, this causes his entire body to ache really badly. "Owww…"
After a few moments, she begins to speak, "Anthony! I don't know what exactly has happened here, but Faye needs your help!"
This gets his attention, "Huh? What?! What happened to her?! Is she hurt?!"
She quickly shakes her head, "No, she's about to kill Masako."
"WHAT?!"
"There's no time to explain. You need to get her attention now! She likely won't listen to anyone but you!"
He immediately nods, "I understand. Where is she?"
"There." She points to her in the distance near the ruined inn.
Back with Faye and Masako, the instant the red light beam pierced her, she began to feel pain that she only thought was imaginable. It is literally unbearable. In only a few seconds after the former began to pierce her with her red beam, she suddenly and quite quickly transformed back into her original self.
Due to being in midair, Faye falls and lands on her bottom rather roughly. However, this does not deter her in the slightest. Standing up again, she repositions the beam back onto her heart.
Masako tries to quickly crawl backwards in an attempt to get out of her range. While she does so, she immediately apologizes, "Listen! I'm sorry Faye! I'm sorry for tormenting Anthony! I…I just wanted to get back at you for killing my best friend! You understand that, right?!" As she continues to travel backwards, she slowly realizes that her limbs are starting to go numb. Her efforts to command her body to move becomes more difficult as time goes on.
In the distance, multiple people are yelling at them to stop fighting. Unfortunately, Faye has completely blocked them out and is only focused on her.
"Your words mean nothing to me."
"ye!"
"Just suffer the same amount of pain Anthony went through at your hands."
"aye!"
"Maybe in the afterlife, you'll repent of your sins."
"Faye!"
She recognizes the voice who is trying to call her name. Turning towards the source, she can see Anthony in the distance. They are well over 100 feet away from each other at the moment.
"…master?"
Upon saying that, Faye's red irises disappear and are replaced with her usual emerald green ones.
Anthony smile in relief, "Oh thank goodness! You're back!"
She begins to run towards him.
Once she arrives, he continues, "I understand you're furious with her. I thank you for getting mad with her on my behalf. However," His smiles turns into a frown, "Killing her is NOT the answer. I know Masako mistakenly believes you killed Asuka, but there has to be a way to make her understand that without you two killing each other."
"I'm…I'm so sorry master!" She begins to cry a little. She was about to kill someone, and she knew that he would never approve of that. "I was just so consumed with rage knowing she willingly tormented you that I-"
"I know." He says. After a moment, he begins to shake violently he remembers where he is. He quickly starts to panic, "Please please please get me out of here! I-I can't stand yet another moment in this tormenting prison! Get me out!" He suddenly stands up and begins banging the glass in desperation.
Faye is horrified at what Masako's torment has done to him. "Y-Yes master! Right away!"
Knowing she is unable to break it, she instead makes the logical decision to go to Masako. In the meantime, many of the residents walk over to him and try to comfort him as best as they can.
"Hey, it's gonna be alright. You won't be in there much longer. I wish I could get you out myself, but I know Faye will find a way to help you." Sarah tries to encourage him.
"I'm not sure if you want to hear anything from a former man-hater such as myself, but let it be known that once you are free, if you are still struggling with anything within you, like your stress or fear, then you are free to come to me and we can talk about it. Think of it like counseling." Motoko offers with a humble voice.
Their words of encouragement manage to calm him down slightly and he internally thanks them for their kind words.
"Hey. You scumbag." Faye derogatorily addresses Masako. "Tell me how to release master. Now."
As she has been sitting on her back, her limbs have become more and more numb with time. Unable to prop herself up anymore, she falls onto her side. The pain throughout her body has decreased to some extent as she has become more numb, but it is still very much there.
She has no strength to resist. Even if she did, she is way to terrified to do so. She had no idea that Faye contained such a terrifying ability within her. This was never discussed at Maid High Academy! Feeling like her rage is what possibly caused her to unleash her power, Masako is completely unwilling to enrage her any more than she already is.
Thus, she quickly complies. However, she greatly struggles to talk as she loses the ability to control her mouth. "Check…bockets." There is a short pause, "Wemote…thewe…"
Flipping her so that her stomach is facing up, Faye proceeds to empty out her pockets. True to her word, there is a small remote within it. Seeing a button that says it'll release the tube, she rushes back and immediately presses the button.
Some small noises are heard right below Anthony and a second later the glass tube is ejected straight into the air. He quickly escapes and everyone else moves out of the way so that the tube doesn't land on them.
Faye is elated, "Master! You're free! Thank goodness!" She can't help but bury herself straight into Anthony's chest.
A few tears escape his eyes, "Yes…I'm back. I'm sorry I made you worry. Thank you."
"Hey! Don't leave me out of this!" Sarah pouts as she quickly joins in on the hug and changes her expression into a great big smile.
While they hug, Sarah notices Motoko eyeing them like she wants to join in, but awkwardly turns her head away.
Grinning, she makes her way to her.
"Do…do you need something?" Motoko asks as she approaches.
"Actually, I do. I need you to join us!" Grabbing her hand, she pulls the resistant Motoko along.
"W-wait! What are you do-oomph!" She attempts to ask what in the world she is doing before colliding straight into Anthony's back.
Realizing what she did, she begins to apologize, but he instead grabs her and pulls her into the four-way hug.
"Thank you. Thank you guys for everything." He says, eternally grateful.
"I hardly did anything master. I should be thanking you for all you've done for me."
"Hehe…now that you're free. I expect you to take me to the aquarium again!" Sarah teases at first, but then she says seriously, "But really, thank you. If you hadn't come, I still would've been cruel to Keitaro and I would've allowed Naru and the others to continue their horrible antics."
"I'm least deserving of your thanks." Motoko starts, "If you and Faye hadn't come along, I would've still acted like a crazy lunatic towards men, especially Urashima. If the dojo had fallen into my hands when I was in that state of mind, I think I would've…" She sniffles just thinking about it, "permanently ruined it. So, if anything, thank YOU for all you've done."
After hugging for a few more moments, Hoshiko speaks up, "I hate to ruin the moment, but Masako is going to die if we leave her be for much longer."
"Oh right!" Anthony hastily separates himself from everyone. The other three are saddened to be removed from the warmth and tenderness of the hug. "Faye, what exactly did you do?"
"I don't know master. I deeply apologize. After hearing and seeing you in agony again for a third time something in me snapped. Suddenly, I felt like I had just learned a new ability that I had never used before. It's weird, but despite never using it before, I just knew it would defeat her. All that mattered to me in that moment was killing her. For that, I am terribly sorry. I know that conflicts with your morals. Please punish me as you wish."
"I see. We can discuss punishment later. For now, let's go to her."
"Understood."
Motoko and Sarah are asked to stay behind by Hoshiko.
Hoshiko speaks up as they head towards Masako, "I can explain what exactly happened to Faye when Masako is healed."
Meanwhile, Hotaru and his officers in the western section of the forest demand for an explanation of what exactly happened. Haruka takes one for the team as she tries to explain what happened and blames Souta for initiating the whole thing.
Souta comes up with an excuse, "She's lying officer! We weren't trying to illegally expand our business. RubyCorp actually owns some private properties and the Hinata Inn is one of many of them. We typically rent out any inns we own. Unfortunately, the tenants here have failed to pay their expenses for the last several months so we were forced to evict them."
"Is this true Ms. Haruka?" Hotaru asks.
She gasps in denial, "What?! Are you telling me you actually believe the crap this guy is spouting? Of course that isn't true! What sort of landlord would tear down a freaking inn to evict its tenants? Wouldn't it be far more logical and practical to just simply enter and take them out by force without causing any harm to the building?"
"What she says makes sense Mr. Hotaru." One of the officers says. The rest of the officers agree as well.
Hotaru counters, "Without concrete proof, I can't automatically disprove what he says."
"Oh for pete's sake." Haruka can't help but smack her forehead.
"Hoho, it looks like my daughter is in need of some assistance." An elderly voice is heard behind the three of them.
Haruka recognizes the voice and quickly turns around, "Granny?!"
The elderly woman smiles at her, "That's me!"
Behind her are two other individuals who appear to have travelled alongside her. They appear to be wearing rather fancy clothing that only royalty would usually wear. Behind them are many men wearing black suits and black sunglasses. Getting a good look at the two of them, Haruka says, "Are you two Amalla and Lamba by any chance?"
"Correct." Amalla confirms, "We are here in regards to Su as discussed before. Would you happen to know where she is by chance?"
"She's on the premises. As to her exact location, I'm unsure."
"That is good enough for us. Thank you." Lamba bows to her. The two and the people behind them begin to make their leave.
"Wait! I need to inform of you of something before you see her." Haruka says.
They stop and turn around. Amalla asks, "What is that?"
"She's currently in her adult form, so keep that in mind."
Adult form? What the heck is she talking about? Souta and Hotaru wonder.
She frowns in response, but nods. "Thank you for telling us that."
They leave the area.
"Ahem" Hina coughs lightly, "I can see that the inn my grandson has worked so hard on to maintain is completely demolished. I heard quite a lot of noise on my way here, so can I hear what happened?"
Haruka again gives a brief summary of the attack and the reason Souta has for initiating it. Again, Souta tries to rebut her claims.
After another round of arguing back and forth, both Haruka and Souta are stopped in their tracks by what Hina says all of a sudden.
"Souta Hirano, as the son of the late Akio Hirano, you are certainly rather foolish."
"Huh?" Both of them are confused. Souta adds on, "What did you just say about me?"
"I said that you are a very foolish man. Are you aware of what act you have committed against the Urashima Clan by demolishing the inn and attacking its residents? Not to mention, three of those members your team of maids attacked are direct members of the Urashima Clan."
This does not clear up anything for Souta. Instead, he gets irritated, "How dare you call me foolish! Ever since my father has passed, I've taken over his company and we have been growing every year."
Hina sighs, "How does that relate to what we are talking about? That has nothing to do with the Urashima Clan. Didn't your father tell you what your company's relation with the Urashima Clan is?"
Souta thinks back to around the time his dying father was talking to him about how to handle company affairs once he passed.
Thirty seconds later, he replies, "I vaguely recall him saying something about the Urashima Clan but I don't remember what it is."
"Well." Hina starts, "Perhaps you should've paid more attention to what he was saying then. Otherwise…" Reaching into her purse, she pulls out a rolled-up piece of paper tied with a little ribbon. Undoing the ribbon, the paper reveals its full length and she hands it to Souta. "You may not have violated the contract between your company and my clan."
"W-what is this?" He takes the document from her and begins to read it. As he reads, an increasingly worried expression forms on his face. "No…this can't be real. I don't remember my father ever signing such a document! I don't even own a copy of it!"
"Let me see it." Haruka demands as she reaches out and takes the document. Most of the document contains a bunch of boring legal stuff but one line sticks out to her.
"The Urashima Clan and RubyCorp formerly agree to never interfere with one another, whether publicly or privately, in any way, shape, or form."
Hina gives a little backstory, "Long ago, Akio and I were friends with one another. I won't bore you with the details on how we met or anything, but do know that we were rather close. Anyway, we often hung out and traded business ideas with one another, as we both wanted to start our own businesses one day. Once we were out of high school, Akio had saved up enough funds to start up RubyCorp. A few years later, I managed to amass enough money to open my very own inn. Over the years we often gave tips to one another and helped improve the other's business." She smiles as she remembers those days.
Shortly after she smiles, she frowns as she begins the next part of her tale, "Unfortunately, as the years went by our thoughts and beliefs on how to run a company began to conflict with each other more and more. We hardly agreed on anything anymore. Due to that, our friendship was ultimately ruined. Despite that occurring, we still held respect for one another and we didn't want anyone in either of our companies to try to sabotage or ruin the other in any way. Thus, we drafted up the contract you now see and signed it to be effective forever."
"Granny, why didn't you tell me, Keitaro, or anyone else in our family about this?!" Haruka asks a bit irritated. This would've been nice to know back when Souta originally tried to buy the inn.
"I'm sorry. It has been many years since the Urashima Clan and RubyCorp have interacted with each other in any capacity so I had simply found it unnecessary. I was clearly foolish."
"Just like you were that time when you went on the world tour and told Keitaro to come to the inn despite you not even being there. Plus you failed to notify him that the inn had changed to an all-girls dorm. He was brutally assaulted by the girls due to that." She harshly reminds her.
She slowly nods, "Yes…I've come to regret what I did back then. It was very foolish of me to do that. I will apologize to my grandson for what I did. Hopefully what I'm doing here today will at least somewhat rectify what I did then."
"This isn't enough proof!" Souta argues, "Besides, don't you need the original version for it to be legitimate? You have no idea whether your version is the original or not."
"Did someone say they need a document?" Faye asks as she approaches them with Anthony, Masako, and Hoshiko.
"H-huh?" Souta turns around and sees them.
"Are you all alright? I don't really know exactly what happened over there but it seemed really intense."
"Yes, everyone is fine." Anthony initially replies, but then he turns his head over to Masako who is currently looking rather aggravated. "Well, except for her."
Masako steps forward and comes next to Souta. Facing him, she begins to speak, "Master. No, scratch that. Souta. Why did you never tell anyone about this?!"
Tossing him a paper, he begins to read it. He quickly realizes that it contains the exact same contract, word for word, as Hina's version. Additionally, it's signed by the both of them.
"What we were doing was completely illegal! You can get sued for this!" She shouts in anger.
"Isn't it already illegal to forcefully take over someone's property and attack its residents, regardless of whether there is a contract or not?" Haruka counters.
"Yes it is." Hotaru confirms.
"That's true." Masako admits, "These might sound like excuses, but I thought we could do all of this relatively quietly without getting any courts involved. That's why I was alright with this. Also, I wasn't in a fully right state of mind the whole time. I hated Faye so much that it completely clouded my judgement on what is moral and what isn't.
Noticing her use of past tense, Haruka asks, "So you don't hate her anymore?"
She nods, "No. Now that I know the truth."
-Flashback-
Once Anthony, Faye, and Hoshiko reach Masako, she has fallen completely unconscious and appears to be barely breathing.
"Now Faye, pour as much of your healing magic into her as possible to remove the poison within her system."
"I don't take orders from you anymore headmistress." She replies.
"Well, you do for now." Anthony replies annoyed, "Do anything she says so Masako can recover."
"Understood."
She initially places her hands on her stomach, but Hoshiko has her move to her chest, where her heart is. Pouring as much magic in as she can muster a bright white light shines over her chest.
About 15 seconds later, Masako slowly begins to open her eyes.
"What…what happened?" She drowsily asks to no one in particular. Trying to figure out who is with her, she slowly recognizes Hoshiko. Once she fully does so, she freaks out, "H-Headmistress! W-what are you doing here?"
"You passed out from Faye's poison. Thankfully she nullified and removed it before you could die from it. As for why I'm here, you'll know shortly."
"Wait, Faye poisoned her?!" Anthony asks shocked. Wasn't she a healer? How could she have possibly poisoned her?
"That's what I did to her?" Faye says, she seemed to be just as clueless as her master.
"That's right. You see, while every healer's primary magic is the ability to heal and restore health to living beings, there is also a more…sinister version of their magic that lives within them."
"So basically, they can both heal and inflict illness?" Anthony concludes.
"Yes, that's correct."
"Why didn't we ever know this? Or why was it never demonstrated?" Faye asks.
"There are two reasons. One, it can easily be abused to your advantage, not to mention immoral. Two, a specific requirement has to be met to use it for the first time."
"Is it to enrage the person by any chance?" Masako asks. She is now sitting up.
"Mmm…yes. But that's not the entire answer. You see, the person has to not be just enraged, they have to be in an unstoppable rage. Their fury so enormous that absolutely no one can stop them, no matter how much you try to reason with them."
"I can't believe I made her that furious with me. I knew she cared about Anthony a lot but I never knew it was THAT deep. This wasn't meant to happen."
"Why did you do that to her?" Hoshiko asks while giving her a glare.
"I…" She turns her head away. "I simply wanted to get back at Faye. That's all."
"Get back at her for what?"
"…..killing Asuka." She admits.
She sighs, "I see. It's a good thing I came today then. Where is Reiko?"
"Reiko? What does Reiko have to do with any of this?" Masako asks.
Faye replies, "I sent her flying to the eastern section of the woods when she tried to interfere in my confrontation of Masako."
"Let's find her then."
The four of them head to the eastern section of the forest and after searching for a few minutes they hear some groans. Making their way towards the sound, they eventually find her lying on her stomach.
"Reiko! Are you alright?" Masako asks upon seeing her.
"Argh…urp. M-Mako…?" She queasily replies. As soon as it fully clicks in that it's Masako she's talking to, she jumps up as if her injuries were faked all along. Unfortunately, her back immediately gives her searing pain once she tries to stand up.
"Faye, heal her too please. I don't think she can really talk in this state." Anthony orders.
"As you wish."
She does as she is instructed and after a few moments, Reiko looks good as new.
"Hah, as expected of you. Your skills have not declined in the slightest." Reiko says as she observes her body. She then turns to Masako, "I'm so glad you're alright. I was worried you'd get hurt out there."
"Right…thanks for your concern." She turns her head away.
"Now that everyone is all healed up, I have something very important to discuss with all three of you." She looks at the three maids.
"What is it?" Reiko asks.
Taking her purse off her shoulder, Hoshiko digs around in it for a moment before pulling out a book.
"Recognize this?" She shows the cover to the girls.
"Asuka's diary?!" Masako exclaims shocked. Tears are already forming around her eyes.
"I never knew she kept a diary." Faye comments.
Reiko doesn't reply but instead widens her eyes and starts to sweat ever so slightly. Oh no. Why does she have her diary? I can't imagine this is a good thing…
"Yes, we found it recently back at the school and there were some interesting things written in here that you three might be interested in."
"You invaded her privacy?! How dare you!" Masako shouts disgusted that she would do such a thing.
"I know, but this is a small price to pay compared to what we discovered. Please read from these pages." She begins to open the book to the pages in question.
"I refuse to delve into her privacy!" Masako states with assertion.
"Even if what she wrote down may finally solve the mystery as to why Faye supposedly refused to heal Asuka?"
This is an incredibly tempting offer for her. It always seemed really weird why Faye would refuse to heal her. It was so out of character for her. Due to her anger and disappointment towards her she never gave any real thought as to why she would actually do that.
"A…alright. L-Let's see what she has to say." She gives in.
Now Reiko really starts to sweat, "W-wait you guys. Do we really need to do this? We all know Faye refused to heal her. She just won't admit to it. Any criminal would do that."
"Oh? If I killed her, then why are you so hesitant on seeing what Asuka has to say? If anything, I should be the one worried about you two reading about my crimes, yet I'm not."
This makes her go completely silent. Should I burn the book? I don't know what's written in there, but I can't risk them finding out! Mako will hate me if she finds out what I did! She ultimately decides burning the book is too risky. All she can do is hope and pray everything will go smoothly.
As they read, Masako initially cries a little seeing her absolutely beautiful cursive handwriting. Reading about her brings in a flood of memories involving her, as well as Reiko and Faye back in the day. They really all got along back then.
Continuing on, Masako gasps upon the reveal of Reiko disguising herself as Faye. She instantly wants to question her on this, but forces herself to continue reading. Reiko starts to frantically play with her hair while Faye widens her eyes slightly.
Once they read the last two lines, which basically say that she wishes Masako and Faye won't break up their friendship over this misunderstanding, as well as realizing that she tried to tell the former about Reiko, there is a flurry of emotions between all four of them.
Faye and Anthony are the most neutral of them all. The former is upset with Reiko for deliberately ruining their friendship, but since she hasn't cared about Masako for many months now, her emotions aren't that strong. The latter is glad to officially know that Faye didn't do something evil like that. However, he does wonder why Reiko would do something like that. Whatever it is though, he figures it isn't good.
Reiko is by now sweating full-on bullets and is slowly trying to inch herself away from the other two. Internally, her mind is in overdrive mode. Oh crap oh crap oh crap! She found out! I messed up! What am I gonna do?! She's gonna question me any moment!
Her fear comes true just a moment later when Masako, who is now crying, suddenly demands, "Why Reiko?! Why did you do that?! You completely ruined our friendship! I really thought she let her die by her own free will!"
She takes a step back, "H-hold on there Mako. I-I have my reasons for doing that."
Stomping towards her, she demands, "What reasons? What damn reasons do you have for posing as Faye and doing all that crap? It's almost like…you deliberately wanted to end our friendship."
Continuing to step back, she yelps, "C-crap! H-how did you-"
"So you DID do that with the intention to end our friendship!" She angrily concludes. Her sadness now being replaced by anger.
Reiko pitifully tries to deny it, "N-no! That's not what I meant! I-"
Before she can speak any further, Masako transforms her right arm into a tentacle. Extending it out, she wraps it around Reiko's neck, effectively strangling her.
"You're going to tell me exactly why you did that. Right now. And no lying, I hate lies." She demands, her voice cold as ice.
At her wit's end and slightly struggling to breathe, she caves and admits everything.
"I-I did it so I could be with you Mako! I hated the fact that you had friends besides me. I cared about you so much that I never wanted to have any other friends but you. I wanted to spend all my time with you. You had no friends at the time either, so I thought we would be each other's only friend. So when I saw you starting to hang out with Asuka, I began to get jealous. It only increased when Faye came into the picture. Those two were spending time with you when I could've been! I put up with it for a long time, but it was nearly unbearable. So when Asuka's heart attack occurred while Faye was out training, I thought the stars couldn't have aligned any better. Asuka would die, so you two naturally wouldn't be friends anymore. Then I could take on Faye's appearance and ruin her reputation with you so you two wouldn't talk anymore. Finally, I would have you all to myself. It was a win-win situation for me. That's why I did it."
The four listening to her confession are unanimously extremely disgusted by her actions and her reasonings behind them.
"How deplorable." Anthony gives her contempt look.
"That's awful. I can't believe you'd do such a thing. And you were such a great student too." Hoshiko says with a somber tone.
"You're a scumbag, plain and simple." Faye says.
Masako lowers her head, "For the last year it wasn't Faye I should've been angry with. It was YOU! You were the one who deserved my wrath!" She quickly raises her head and grits her teeth at her, just like a dog would when it spots an enemy.
"I know your angry Masako, and you have every right to be, but don't do anything rash." Hoshiko warns her.
She agrees, "You're right headmistress. I shouldn't do anything rash, and I won't, because I already know the perfect punishment for her."
"M-Mako…?"
"First of all, NEVER use that nickname EVER again. I've always disliked it, but now it sickens me to the core when you use it. Second of all, I forbid you from ever seeing me again. Take your pathetic, miserable face out of my presence immediately." She releases her tentacle hold she has on her and reverts her tentacle back into a regular hand.
Reiko pleads, "I-I'm sorry Masako! Please forgive me! Please let me stay with you! I don't know what I'd do without you!"
"Headmistress, please take her out of my sight. I can't bear to look at her anymore."
Silently complying, she heads towards Reiko and places a hand on her shoulder. They instantly teleport away. A few moments later, Hoshiko comes back by herself.
"Where did you take her?" Anthony asks.
"A place within Maid High Academy where our more troublesome students go. She still has Souta as her master, so technically I can't discipline her at the moment. However, I'll convince him to relinquish her as his maid one way or another. Also, Masako, don't think that you're fully innocent. I will somehow convince Souta to also release you. For your punishment, I'll let Faye be the one who decides that, since you initially did all that to get revenge on her."
She nods, "I understand."
Turning to Faye, she says, "Faye, you were right this whole time. I'm so sorry for doubting you all this time. I should've had more faith in you. I should've known it isn't in your nature to willingly let people die like that. I'm also very sorry for blackmailing you. It was very unbecoming of me. I used your love and affection towards Anthony against you."
"I don't care what you did to me. Blackmail me, hurt me, mentally harm me, I don't care about any of that."
"What? Seriously?" She asks, surprised to hear how little she cares about what happens to herself.
"What I do care about is what you've done to master." She points to him for extra emphasis. "You brought him to the mansion against his will. You trapped him in a glass tube so he couldn't escape. Then you had the absolute audacity to torture him not once, not twice, but THREE times. That is completely unforgivable. Compared to what Reiko did, what you did is far worse by comparison. Now, apologize to the person who actually deserves it, not that it'll be enough to excuse everything you did."
"You're right. I understand." Turning to face Anthony, she bows, "Anthony, I am very sorry for involving you in my selfish plan of revenge against Faye. While I had and continue to have no personal grudge or ill will against you, I know that does not excuse the torture that I put you through. Again, I am very sorry."
"It's…it's fine I guess." He accepts her apology. "You seem genuinely remorseful. Plus you actually had a valid reason for what you did, despite going way too far with it. I can't say the same thing for someone else I know."
"Thank…thank you so much." She sniffles a tear.
"You better be grateful that master is as kind as he is." Faye says while giving her a glare.
"I am grateful." So much so, I actually want to help him out. But there's master…
"So now that that problem is solved, what now?" Anthony asks the group.
Faye is the first one to speak, "If I may master, I'd like to prove to Souta that what he's done to the inn is completely illegal."
"Wait huh? Illegal?" Masako questions.
"Yes. Take a look at this." Reaching into her pocket, she pulls out a piece of paper.
"What is this?" She asks.
"Read this and you'll figure out that your master is a giant idiot."
Taking the paper, she begins to read. Once she finishes, she asks, "What is the Urashima Clan?"
"As Keitaro's last name is Urashima, this is likely the people in his family, including himself." She answers.
"Is Keitaro the one that runs this inn?"
"Yes."
She realizes what a giant mistake they have made.
"Oh crap. You're right, my master is an idiot. How could he approve of this operation when this contract is here?! Where did you find this?
"In the storage room you put me in."
"Oh…" She awkwardly averts her eyes, "Sorry about that. Well, at least you found this due to that."
"Let's show this to him then. If Keitaro sues RubyCorp for violating the contract, then he could win a LOT of money in court. Then, he could use that money to rebuild the inn!"
"I like your thinking master!" Faye smiles proudly at him.
"T-Thanks!" He nervously rubs the back of his head. "Let's go show him it then."
"Just so you guys know." Hoshiko starts, "If Souta is proven to be a criminal, he will be relinquished from all his maids."
"Wow, really?" Anthony asks.
She nods, "Yes. There is a clause on the approval form when taking on a maid that states if the master becomes a legally recognized criminal, then all maids he or she currently has will be relinquished from him or her effective immediately. No questions asked."
"Huh, interesting." He comments.
Hoshiko adds, "That doesn't mean the maids are forced to stop serving their master. It just means they are free to search for a new one. From past experiences though, the vast majority of the maids will abandon their master who have turned into a criminal."
As they begin to leave to find Souta, Masako is the only one who stays behind.
"Are you coming Masako? What's the holdup? Oh…wait…" Anthony just remembered; Souta is her master. If she was to come with them and present this document alongside them, she'd be basically rebelling against him. "It's about Souta, isn't it?"
She doesn't respond.
"You don't have to come with us if you don't want. We'll just take it to him ourselves. Will you hand me the paper?" He holds out a hand.
After a few moments of no response, she begins to talk, "No, I want to present this to him myself if you'll let me. Master, no, wait, Souta has never been the greatest master to us."
"Considering he was willing to take over the inn by force, I can't say that surprises me."
"He never really mistreats us for the most part, he gives us food and each of us has our own room, plus he generally lets me do what I want within reason and when I'm not carrying out an order for him."
"It sounds like he treats you all pretty well then." Anthony says.
She responds, "At a glance, yes. However, I'm fairly certain he does the bare minimum to care for us. The food we eat is cheap, stale, and hard. Our rooms are barely big enough to house a bed, armoire, and desk, so we are rather cramped. He never thanks us for the hard work we do on a daily basis nor does he ask us how we are doing. He just gives orders and not much else."
"That's awful!" He says, thinking that what Souta is doing is irresponsible and cruel towards them.
"My master is far superior to yours." Faye voices her opinion.
"Why haven't you come and filled out a withdrawal form then?" Hoshiko asks her.
"I've thought about it many times, but he did take me and the other maids in, so I am very grateful to him for that. And it's not like he mistreats us, except when he punishes us. He beats us pretty mercilessly whenever we really anger him."
"I don't care what you girls may have done to him, if he gives a punishment that goes beyond what the initial crime is, then he should be reported for it." Anthony says.
"Well, now that he has recklessly done this, I'm through with him. I can't serve someone who doesn't appreciate us for who we are and is willing to perform such reckless behavior without proper research first. Now, let's go present this evidence against him."
Before any of them can reply, she begins to walk off. The three follow her.
-Flashback End-
"I see. I won't pry into what happened in your past with Faye, but I'm glad to hear it's cleared up now." Haruka says to Masako.
She bows slightly, "Thank you for your kind words."
Souta is shocked by what Masako has given him, he shouts to her, "Where did you find this?! And how dare you be disrespectful to me like that! You can only call me master!"
Masako shakes her head, "I didn't find this, Faye did when she was rummaging through your storage room under the stairs."
"She did WHAT?!" He shouts.
"It's your fault you left such an important contract in an abandoned storage room collecting dust." Faye says.
"Let me see this." Hotaru demands.
Initially Souta doesn't do so, but glares from everyone causes him to tense up and comply.
Looking the two over, he nods several times, "Yes, this document is also legitimate. Souta Hirano, you are hereby arrested for violating this contract between the Urashima Clan and RubyCorp. All your assistants are to be arrested as well."
"WHAT?! You can't do that! I'm the CEO of RubyCorp! If you arrest me, then my company will fall apart! Thousands of people will lose their jobs! Do you want that?"
"You have a son, correct? He's over 20 as far as I know. Simply pass the business onto him, or at least until your company can find a suitable replacement."
Souta protests against his arrest some more but no one listens to him as the officers place him in handcuffs. One of the officers drags him away while another calls for more officers to come and assist them with the arrests. They are about to look for all the maids who participated in the attack and arrest them too, but Hoshiko asks for just a little more time before they do so, as she wishes to have an important discussion with them. They reluctantly comply.
After around 10 minutes Hoshiko manages to gather all the maids together and explains what has happened to Souta. They are completely shocked when they learn about the contract and admit they had no idea he even had such a thing. As they all basically share Masako's opinion of him, they all quickly announce that they will no longer serve him. She then states that due their participation in the attack, they will all be arrested. There is initially some resistance but they do realize that they are just as much at fault as Souta is. Finally, Hoshiko asks for the assistance of some maids in order to perform memory erasure. Most of them offer to help, and the ones that are selected by her get straight to work.
Putting their hands all on top of one another's, a colorful ball of light begins to form. Each color that appears represents one of the elements. Red for fire, orange for wind, yellow for heal, green for earth, blue for water, and finally purple for mystery.
As they pour their mana into this ball, it eventually grows to be 2 feet in diameter. The ball glows so brightly that everyone on the premises turn to look at it in all its glory. They wonder what in the world it is.
Once the ball reaches the 3 feet in diameter, they all at once thrust their hands into the air, sending the ball high into the sky. The ball explodes brilliantly in the air and the mana contained within it is spread so far and wide that it covers at least 5 miles surrounding the inn. Any people who get within 30 feet of any mana that lands automatically absorbs it into their bodies and the effects of absorbing it immediately begin.
The effect is that any memories the person has related to observing magic directly in any way is completely removed. The only people who are spared from this effect are the ones that have mana flowing within their body. Unbeknownst to everyone, Hoshiko had earlier secretly unleashed an aerial spell that targeted the people Faye mentioned would get their own maid later on, as well as Anthony. This spell injected them with a small amount of mana and thus saved them from memory erasure.
"That should do it. Great work." Hoshiko compliments the maids on a job well done.
Shortly afterwards, more police officers arrive on the scene and begin to arrest the maids.
Back with Hina and the others, Hotaru asks, "By the way, is Naru Narusegawa here?" Oh please let her be! This is my last chance to save myself from getting fired!
"I've been wondering where she is as well. I need to have a discussion with her, as well as Keitaro. I want to be fully informed on what has been going on during my absence."
Haruka replies, "Yes, she is here somewhere. As to where exactly, I'm not entirely sure."
It is at this point that Keitaro and Kanako arrive on the scene. They both spot Hina.
"Granny?! What are you doing here? I wasn't expecting you to visit!" Keitaro gasps, both happy to see her and horrified. What awful timing! She's probably going to scold me to oblivion for allowing her beloved inn to be completely annihilated!
Kanako has a similar reaction to her brother.
"Haruka called me to inform me that the inn was in some deep trouble due to RubyCorp. Thus I promptly came to deal with the situation."
"Haruka! I told you not to call her! She was having fun on her world tour!" Kanako scolds her.
"I believe this takes way higher priority. Wouldn't you want to be informed if you were in her boat?" She counters.
"She is right my dear. This is very serious. I'm glad she called me and didn't leave me in the dark." Hina says.
Kanako awkwardly looks away, "I'm sorry."
"Now then, do you two know where Naru is by any chance?" Hina asks.
"Yeah, she's that way." Keitaro points towards the direction she is located.
"Thank you."
"Ms. Hina is it? I'd like to ask you to wait to communicate with her until after she is arrested and put in prison." Hotaru says. Despite his calm composure, he is internally jumping for joy now that he FINALLY knows where she is!
She frowns, but nods, "I understand. Please let me know when I can speak with her."
"Of course."
Hotaru and a few other officers proceed to leave the area.
In the western side of the forest are Su, Amalla, Lamba, and in a cage in the distance, Naru.
-Flashback Start-
"Kaolla Su!" An authoritative voice makes itself known.
Su recognizes the voice and suddenly sees two people approach her. She covers her mouth with her hands in shock, "Amalla?! Lamba?! What are you two doing here?"
"Keitaro informed us what you have been up to these past few years." Amalla answers with some contempt. "Why and how are you in your adult form? Don't you know how dangerous and stressful it is to transform?"
"I am aware of the risks. However, it was necessary in order to atone for my immediate sins regarding the RubyCorp situation, which Keitaro has likely told you about. As for how I did it, I used this." Picking up a large metal square object that is sitting next to her, she flips on a switch and bathes herself in the red light that comes out of it.
"Don't tell me…you were able to successfully replicate the rays of the red moon?!" Amalla says astonished.
She nods, "It was difficult, but yes."
"That's Kaolla for you, she can make things beyond our comprehension." Lamba chuckles lightly.
Amalla sighs, "Well, considering you are currently in this form, there is not much to discuss at the moment. However, you will need to be properly punished for what your younger self has done, and it will be your younger self that will go through with that punishment. Otherwise, how are you supposed to grow permanently?"
Su solemly states, "I understand. Please do what you feel is necessary."
"You will be coming back to Molmol with us tonight, so please say your final goodbyes to everyone." Lamba says.
"Yes Lamba."
-Flashback End-
Hotaru is able to find the first three rather easily.
"Hello, I'm sorry to bother you three, but would any of you know exactly where Naru Narusegawa is?"
"Yes, she's right over there." Su points to her cage. "I assume you are here to arrest her?"
"Correct."
"Then please do so."
Finding it a little odd that she wishes for her arrest, Hotaru and the others get right to work. Naru, who has been silently crying for the past half hour and continuing to do so, puts forth no resistance. He is quite surprised by this, but is nonetheless pleased that she isn't making his job any harder than it needs to be. They open the cage with a key provided by Su and lead her out. One of the officers handcuffs her and they lead her away.
"Hopefully she learns just how hurtful her actions were for everyone around her." Su states to her sister and step-brother.
"Indeed. And I hope your younger self learns that as well." Lamba replies.
The rest of the day is rather chaotic. Souta's son, Akimitsu, is called and informed about what has occurred. He is appalled by what his father has done and offers the effected tenants residence at the mansion Souta once inhabited.
All the maids, including Masako, are arrested for their participation in the operation. None of them put forth much if any resistance, mostly due to Hoshiko's influence. Hoshiko tells the maids that once they are out of prison, she wishes to speak with them all at the academy. They tell her they will come. Additionally, Masako makes one last apology on behalf of all the maids to every person who has been affected by the attack in any way.
As for Reiko, while she is the only maid who participated in the attack and did not get arrested, Hoshiko instead has some other plans for her to compensate for that. Having her spend some time away from Masako would also do her some good. Perhaps she will get over her obsession towards her.
As the basement of the Hinata Inn is thankfully mostly unscathed, all the belongings are pulled out of there. Everyone assists with pulling them out and once they do so, Emi and Sachiyo tell everyone that they have to go. They all thank them for their help.
-Souta's Former Mansion-
It takes several hours, but all the personal belongings are safely delivered to the mansion. The maids who are still there are shocked to see them. Hoshiko explains the situation and they, like the rest of the maids, are fine with ditching Souta. They even assist with bringing in the belongings.
Once that is done, Mei proceeds to head home. Right before she does, she promises to try to talk some sense into Naru, alongside her family, while she is in prison. They genuinely wish her luck with that. Hoshiko also leaves and the tenants thank her for her help.
Shortly afterwards, Amalla, Lamba, and Su bid goodbye to everyone as they prepare to fly back to MolMol. Before they do so, Su gives one last apology to everyone for how selfish and immature her younger self has been and that she hopes to return someday properly grown up. A few tears are shed during this apology, most notably by Sarah, who says that she'll be waiting for her, no matter how long it takes for her to grow up.
Amalla and Lamba inform the other residents that her "Special Forces" will go by the Hinata Inn tomorrow and pick up all the dangerous stuff Su has built over the years. Keitaro thanks them for doing this.
Mutsumi also leaves, but she tells them that they can call her if they need anything.
Tsuruko and Nyamo decide to spend the night at the mansion. The former states that she will leave for the God Cry School first thing in the morning, while the latter states she will stay for at least a week before needing to fly back to Pararakelse Island.
Hina also states her desire to stay at the mansion for the time being. Keitaro allows her to.
After dinner is served and everyone is finally given the first chance to relax all day, Anthony goes to the bedroom that he and Faye decided they would temporarily reside in.
Flopping himself on the bed, he breathes out a gigantic sigh of relief. He looks out towards the window to see the sun setting in the distance.
A few moments later, there is a knock at the door.
"Yes? Who is it?"
"It's Faye."
"Come in. You know you don't have to knock."
She enters the room, "I'm sorry master, I thought it would be rude not to knock beforehand."
"I suppose it is a good thing to do regularly, since you never know what you might walk in on…" Hhe mumbles.
"What was that master?"
"O-oh! Nothing!" He nervously scratches his head.
She gives a confused expression, but decides to lay it to rest. She looks out the window, "Quite a beautiful sunset we have tonight."
"It sure is. It's a nice thing to look at after all everyone went through today."
"Agreed."
Suddenly, she frowns.
He notices, "What's the matter? Is something bothering you?"
"Well…" She nervously shuffles her feet a little, "I just wanted to apologize for all the horrible things you went through between yesterday and today. You shouldn't have had to suffer even the tiniest amount of pain."
Suddenly, he hugs her.
"W-wha?" She blushes slightly at the sudden contact with her master.
"Faye, it's not your fault whatsoever. If you're blaming yourself at all for what I went through, please just stop that right now. That's an order." His words are said in a way that is both stern and soothing at the same time.
"Y-yes, understood."
"While Masako did do those horrible things to me, I honestly don't hate her. I can understand to some extent why she went to such lengths. It must've been so hard for her to deal with the death of a dear friend that, in her mind, could've been totally prevented." He then sighs, "Though I'll admit, I'd like to not see her for a long while. Seeing her face reminds me of the torturous pain I went through. I might get PTSD from that…"
"Oh master…" She begins to silently cry for him.
A little while later, they separate and begin to do their own things.
An hour later, a question forms into Faye's head.
"Master?"
"Yes?"
"Please tell me truthfully, since coming into this world, how do you truly feel about everything that has happened?"
"Well…" He thinks for a moment, "Truthfully, ever since entering the Love Hina world, I'd say I'm having a blast so far!"
-Author's Corner-
A/N: Well, that was a ride, wasn't it? Sorry for taking so long to update compared to usual, but I think the length of this chapter speaks for itself haha. While this chapter ends the final major arc of the story, we are not quite done yet! There will be one more chapter, and it will be the epilogue. It will be set 15 years later, when Naru is released from prison.
Now, I have a question for you all. When I start out the chapter, who's perspective do you wish to see first, Keitaro's, or Anthony's? Whichever one is picked more frequently will be the one I will write.
Dr. Exposition: That description of Naru sounds pretty accurate. Also, I really like the artwork you have for Love Hina: Double Trouble. It's amazing!
The Disquieting One: Naru sure is a pain in the butt to deal with, huh? And yeah, Reiko is pretty evil. Sorry if you had hope that she would be good lol. As I mentioned in the A/N, there will be one more chapter.
Frequent Reader: Congratulations on figuring out Reiko's true personality! She is so obsessed with Masako that she will do almost anything to make sure no one is friends with Masako but her. Glad you had a good laugh at how stupid Naru was acting!
Lifetime Guest: Glad you enjoyed his roast towards her!
cocabean93: Haha glad to see you be proud of Anthony.
Under Of Flower: Naru was technically the "leader" of the girls. As in, she influenced how they behaved and they also never really questioned her. Haha, I think Hina kinda forced Kanako to go on the trip with her, but I'm not absolutely positive on that. Hoshiko actually works hard at the school, she just has some other priorities to attend to first before she can deal with the RubyCorp issue. Hahaha! Your comment on Seta had me laughing a little bit there. That "still hate you PEACE." Was just so out of left-field that it had me chortling. For all the negative traits and behaviors Naru has, the one thing she has going for her are her looks. At least, that's what I think. As for other stories, I do have a few in mind. However, I think I'm going to take a bit of a break after finishing this story.
Phoenixwright101: Not sure if you read the entire story up to this point or not, but if you have, then I'd like to say thank you for your feedback. I'm aware that some sentences may lack in variety and I hope to fix that as I write and read more. I generally try to imagine them having a conversation as you suggested and I think for the most part the dialogue sounds fairly natural.
woopydoopy: I'm really glad to hear that you've enjoyed the story! I hope the excitement paid off!
iacopo passerini: The final mystery regarding Reiko has been solved in this chapter. Detail is shown on how the characters on each side fight. Yeah, many fanfics here do have Naru go through a lot of humiliation and pain. Truthfully, I think she deserves getting kicked out of Tokyo U and thrown into jail for what she has done to Keitaro. I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
