Following Carver Hawke's contraction of the Blight in the Deep Roads, the Grey Wardens took him in to perform The Joining. A year has passed and Ferelden had the war against the archdemon. Although the blight has been over come, it's threat has never been greater. Witnesses speak of a woman dressed in white welding unheard of power. The chantry has begun to look at the mages, in fear that this woman is a powerful mage used to take them over. Thus tension grew causing civil war.

After loosing Bethany in the Deeproads and being blamed by his mother, Hawke joined the Templar's. As a recruit he must spend his days training, doing errands, then sleeping.
