Chapter 5: The Final Battle?

Part 1: Sugarland Shimmy!

Bon could barely move when her eyes shot open. "My lady!" Her trusty gummy took the wet cloth from her forehead. "Where's Sally?" She groaned as she tried to sit, but failing to even lift her own arm. "Sh, she's alright. She came by ,not to long ago, to check on you."

Bon sighed in relief, "Thank goodness." Berry looked away as he tucked the noble's leg back under the covers. "Hopefully she comes back tonight. She's been working late at the Devil's Casino to keep him away..."

"What!?" Bon shot up with a hiss of pain. "My lady please rest! Sally will explain when she gets back." The noble grumbled as she laid back down. She closed her eyes but all she could think about was Sally.

A soft breath near her ear startled Bon awake. "Sally?!" She opened her eyes to see a snoozing blond at her side. "Shh~ her lady ship is resting." Sally mumbled sleepily. "Oh? I'm sorry you're majesty~" Bon whispered the tease, moving slowly towards her love. "Bon isn't awake..." The blond breathed. "Oh but darling, I am." Bon scooped up the blond's chin and kissed the limp pink lips. Sally leaned into it unconsciously, lazily kissing back. As the taste of sugar hit the back of her throat, Sally's eyes opened. "Bon!" She managed to say between said noble's breaths. "Sorry for waking you my love. You were just too cute to ignore." Bon wiggled into Sally's arms as the actress helped to pull her in. "We're in big trouble Sugar." Sally sighed, nuzzling into Bon's curls. "I'm so sorry for dragging you into this." The noble mumbled as tears began to form. "I would always choose you, my only regret is your injuries. Now, that you're awake I must warn you, The Devil now controls the whole Island."

"He has that much power?" Bon huffed as her tears continued to fall.

"Yes. Just today, the Cup brothers have lost theirs."

"Stupid brats." Bon sighed.

"I don't know how far they can go, but they are tasked in collecting our contracts."

"They won't be able to get past the first Isle. Let alone me." Bon smirked.

"Don't get too cocky Sugar. You're still unable to stand."

Bon huffed but shivered when she felt Sally's hand touch her side. "Promise me you won't attack them yourself. Berry and I have already picked out some of your strongest fighters to battle on your behalf."

"But what if they fail?" Bon meowed as Sally lowered her hand to her thigh. "Then I'll have to put on the most intense play I've ever starred in."

"I can't just sit around and wait! I don't want you to get hurt!" (B)

"Bon Bon. I am more then capable of taking care of myself. I know you're worried, but I'm not going to just hand the boys my contract without a tussle. And if I win I'll demand yours. So please, promise me you won't leave the castle once the battle begins." (S)

"But they're just a couple of kids. I almost ate them at one point." (B)

"Bon Bon!" (S)

"Fine! I promise I won't leave the castle. But if I have to, I will shoot at them." (B)

"Fair enough, just be careful. I don't know how much more you're body can take." (S)

"I love you Sally." Bon lowered her hands to cover Sally's. They intertwined as the two drifted. "I love you too Bon Bon. Good night Sugar."

Bon sat patiently at her castle as she eyed the cupcake house entrance to her domain. "Stupid cups. Making me wait." She sighed but stood quickly when the door opened.

"Don't you remember Mugsy? She tried to eat us last time." Cuphead explained to his brother. "I know, but we did brake her rules." Mugman argued as the two walked up to the baroness. "Hello boys. It's been a while." She smirked as her yellow eyes scanned the pack they carried. Many pieces of parchment stuck out of it, along with different bottles filled with power ups. "My my, what a collection." She said leaning over. "Please May we have your contract, The Baroness?" Mugman asked kindly as Cuphead raised his hand. "Or else lady." He sneered. "Sorry boys, but I can't just give you my contract." She frowned. To her surprise, her cane came to life and pulled her into the castle. "Good luck boys!" She called as her soldiers began the fight.

"She isn't even fighting!" Cuphead spat as he finished off the energetic gum ball machine. "She is a baroness Cuphead. It almost looks like she doesn't have a say in the matter." Mugman pointed out the watchful Bon sitting on top of her castle. "Hey lady! Why don't you come down here and fight!" Cuphead demanded. The noble's rage increased as he continued to shame her. "Oh I wish I could." Bon growled as she pullout her gun.

As the two cups took down her third soldier, she knew it was getting closer to the end. "Alright boys! Here I come!" The baroness pulled her castle up on its... hands? And began to chase the brothers as they shot at its crazed driver, who used her own head as a weapon.

Bon Bon had enough. She touched her side as she began to cry. "Alright! You win!" Berry joined her side holding a white flag. Bon used her dress to calmly float down to the boys. "Here. This is my contract, but I have a request." Bon held out her soul contact and Cuphead greedily took it and turned before Bon could finish. She looked over at the kind Mug who said, "What can we do for you The Baroness?" Bon's eyes softened as she spoke. "Please spare Sally's soul. She means the world to me." Bon explained. "I promise we'll find a way to free us all your lady ship. I can try but King Dice won't let us pass without everyone's contract."

"Thank you Mugman. I appreciate your kindness." She gently lifted the mug into an embrace and kissed his forehead sweetly. "Oh gosh~ you're welcome." The mug blushed as she clumsily followed his brother. "Good luck boys!" Bon called, filled with hope and worry.

Part 2: Dramatic Fanatic!

The audience filled the theater as the cup brothers stumbled in. Many other citizens and candy people where desperate to cheer Sally on. The blond walked across the stage in a long white gown and a bouquet in her hands. "Alright boys, are we going to fight?" Sally smiled as Mugman took a step forward. "I'm sorry Ms Sally. We tried but we can't get by without your contract."

"It's alright hon. Just tell me, is Bon Bon alright? She didn't try to fight did she?" Sally was filled with worry as she asked the children. "She's fine. She stayed locked up in her castle." Cuphead huffed as he crossed his arms. Sally sighed in relief, "She actually kept her promise, I'm so happy." Sally smiled as she tossed the flowers to the crowd. "May we have your contract please? Do we really need to fight?" Mugman pleaded as the curtain went up. "Sorry boys, I'm fighting for Bon Bon's contract. Let's begin!" She shouted as she ripped off the gown, now she was in her short blue dress with her orange parasol. The background was painted as if the boys crashed her wedding.

The curtain closed as the second act began. Sally pointed angrily at the boys. "I'll get you this time!" She shouted as she spun her parasol. Toy mice scattered around the stage, chasing the two cups. "This is ridiculous!" Cuphead shouted as a mouse knocked him down. "Cuphead! Look out!" Mugman shouted as a baby bottle landed at his feet.

The third act was apron them as the curtain shut. Sally was lifting into the air as her dress faded to white. Fake wings sprouted from her back as she flew above the stage. "Time for the intermission! Please grab some drinks and snacks!" She cheered as she was lowered back onto the stage. Cuphead shot at her, making her jump. "Hey! It's brake time! Put your hand down!" Sally growled. "Brakes are for wimps. Let's get back to the fight." Cuphead sighed. "What's wrong with you brother? Ever sense we started, you've looked down on everyone." Mugman's eyes softened as he approached his brother. "That's because they've been attacking us and we've won every time." The cup mumbled as he took a seat at the edge of the stage. "None of us want to fight hon. Take me for example, I only want Bon's contract. You can have mine." Sally pulled out her parchment and handed it to the mug. "Are you sure?" Mugman smiled. "Yes, Bon Bon is my one and only. I just want her to be safe."

"Here." Mugman handed her Bon's contact. "Mugsy?! What are you doing?!" Cuphead protested. "King Dice already counted her's."

"But the Devil didn't! If he sees one is missing he will have us come back! Or worse!"

Sally watched as the two argued. "Boys! Boys! Mugman, this is really sweet of you and I appreciate it." Sally leaned over and unknowingly copied her lover's action. She placed a small kiss on the mug's head. "Gosh, you ladies are something." Mugman swooned. "You boys are tough! I think you two can take them down if you tried, so let's go all out! Show me what you got! But I must warn you, I won't give up Bon's contract to just anyone."

The curtains rose as Sally floated down in a now red dress with fluffy red hair. She summoned lightning and waves at the boys as they dodged and shot.

The curtains closed and opened to a wrecked stage, as Sally floated above them in her angle costume. Her parasol chased the boys around as the audience threw sharp red roses. The candy people threw pink candy roses that shattered as they hit the ground, making it harder for the boys to avoid. The fight was over when Sally was lowered back down to the stage. Bruises from their shots shown bright purple and her exhaustion was clearly visible. "Sally! Are you alright?" Mugman ran to the actress's side. "Yes, I'll be alright. Here, please take care of it for me?" She handed back the parchment with Bon's name printed on it. "I will! I won't let the Devil have it, no matter what happens." The mug helped her to her feet. "That's all I needed to hear. It's getting late, would you mind if I traveled with you for a moment?" Sally asked. Mugman nodded but Cuphead huffed as the three of them began to leave. "Troop! I'll clean up tomorrow. Go home and get yourself's some sleep. Thank you all for your hard work today!" Sally yelled, curtsying as well as she could with her injuries. "Don't worry, you need more sleep then we do." Her friends came from backstage and all of them lovingly hugged her. "Now go comfort your princess." The man nudged her as she happily took the hint.

Part 3: Dancing with the Devil

"Sally!" Bon rushed over to her actress, who walked through the castle gate. "Hey Sugar, you look good." Sally smirked as she landed a sweet kiss on the candy cheek. "Rraaa! That stupid cup and mug! Wait until I..."

Sally quickly took hold of Bon's clenched fists. "It was unavoidable sweet heart. Forgive them, for me?" Sally fluttered her lashes as a gentle smile creeped up the baroness's face. "If you insist. I hope they know what they are doing." She sighed softly as she wrapped a helpful arm around the blond. "Let's get some rest. Who knows what tomorrow will bring."

"Bon?"

"Hu? What is it?"

Sally turned as she wrapped her arms around the pink one's neck. Slowly pulling them closer together. The more confident actress pressed her lips against sugary red ones. Both pairs of eye closed as they enjoyed whatever time they may have left, together.

"Mugsy, I hope you know what you are doing." Cuphead huffed as they walked past The Phantom Express, and into Inkwell Hell. Bright lights of the casino stood before them. "I don't, but I know what we should do. Everyone deserves better then this!" Mugman turned to his brother with confusion and pity. "It's not my fault they ended up this way." Cuphead argued, clinging to his bag of contracts. "But we can save them! They are our friends!"

"Mugman, who would attack their friends? The Baroness tried to eat us! Cala Maria too! Werner invaded our home, and ruined Elder Kettle's cake!"

Mugman blinked in shock. He pulled himself together for his rebuttal. "Sally gave us money for ice cream after we lost our piggy bank, even after we scammed her! BrinyBeard took us on a high seas adventure after we snuck onto his ship! The Baroness shared her candy and we disregarded her rules! Do they deserve to be sold out Cuphead?" The two looked back at each other before the cup spoke with a sigh, "You're right as usual, but taking on the Devil?"

"What do we have to loose? "

"Our souls?"

"Technically we already lost them."

Cuphead stood still before a laughter erupted from his tiny body. "So true!!" He couldn't help but fall to the floor clenching his gut. Mugman watch with a smile as he waited to walk back into the monstrous building, lit up with colorful neon sign.

"We did it?" Mugman's eyes widened as she looked upon the broken king of hell. The Devil laid there; unmoving, unemotional, unhinged. Mugman turned away with his brother, but looked back. "Ya know... you've caused a lot of pain. Have you ever did anything nice for someone?" The mug waited on a response as he watched the poor excuse of a king sit up, then vanish.

Bon couldn't sleep. Thoughts raced around her head as she tried to get comfortable. She watched Sally's lungs expand with each breath, calmly touching her cheek before she heard a disturbance deep within the castle. "What is it?" She whispered, as she slowly entangled herself from the other's arms. Sally whined but sleepily turned with a mumbled, "Love you." The noble smiled as she leaned down. "I love you too Darling."

Hurrying down the steps, she noticed her castle was moving on its own. "What? What is it?" She called trying to open the gate. She didn't see or hear anything outside other then the castle's questionable clomping. "You'll wake Sally! I demand you stop!" Bon growled as she yanked on the bars. Slowly it came to a stop with a low growl in response. "What? Don't tell me you were sleep walking... Ah!" Bon jumping when a horned black beast walked out of the shadows. "No! I told you, you're not..."

"Please, your lady ship, I just want to talk." The Devil placed his hands on the gate as Bon backed away. "Are you wanting to talk or to threaten me again?" She spat angrily but softened when he slid down to the ground. "I know I've been awful, that's just who I am... but you're been one of the only people I would ever call a friend."

"That friendship has sailed. You stabbed me in the back when I was at my lowest, and I don't know if I can ever forgive you."

The demon lowered his head shamefully. With a snap of his fingers, he was gone. Bon felt something strange. Like a weight had been lifted. She looked down and noticed she was floating off the ground. A bright light engulfed her as she spun to look around. "What the?" She tried reaching for something to grab onto as she cursed the Devil for his lousy trick. "This isn't funny! Put me down right...Ah!" She fell on her rump and all the light vanished. At first glance she didn't notice anything strange. She shrugged it off and lifted herself up. "If he touched Sally, he's going to regret it." She marched up the steps, but her sour temper was calmed when her eyes looked over her one and only. "Thank goodness you're alright." She whispered, and when she carefully brushing back a blond lock of hair she noticed the bruises were gone. Then she felt it herself. Quickly and curiously she pulled up her gown. Her legs were smooth and mark less. " The hell?" Continuing to examine herself, she noticed no signs of ever being in battle, even her side was reconstructed. Every ounce of feeling was present as if nothing had ever happened, especially when a new pair of hands wrapped themselves around her exposed stomach. "My my, don't tease me when I'm sleeping. That's rude." Sally snickered as she ran a hand over the renewed hip. With a yip, the noble shivered under the touch. "Sally! You're hands are freezing!" Said actress giggled in a drowsy haze. "Warmth ~" she mumbled, dragging her princess down onto the bed. "At least let me cover myself!" Bon wriggled in desperation as her cheeks practically lit up the room. "What?" Sally opened her eyes and saw an exposed sheepish Bon trying to escape her grip. Her eyes darted along the exposed skin. "Sorry!" She suddenly let go, flipped the covers over her head.

"Sally? You alright dear?" Bon asked as she gently rubbed the actress's covered back. "Are you dressed?" Sally called, her voice was mumbled by the blanket. A soft hum echoed in her ear as her blond mess of hair stood on end. She could feel the warm pink skin slide next to her. "Do you want me to?" Bon slowly wrapped herself around Sally's cold, thin figure. "Mm, I can't ignore it!" Sally protested, earning herself a soft chuckle. "You didn't answer my question." Bon's ton lowered as she snuggled closer to Sally's ear. "O...only I...if you're alright with it." Sally stuttered. "Darling ~ I was only joking. Good night my love." Bon purred as she nuzzled into Sally's shoulder as the blond laid wide awake.

The two ladies made there way to the Isle 3 tree. Sally placed a loving kiss on her girls lips. "I have to know what happened." Sally insisted as she slowly placed a leg into the stump. "I wish I could go too!" Bon folded her arms in distaste. "I do too Sugar. I'll be back, I promise." "You better!" Bon pulled Sally by her dress for another passionate kiss, before Sally wondered off to town.

The Noble sat there, just staring impatiently at the bark of the doorway. "Aren't you going to mingle with the rest of them?" A familiar town irritated Bon further. "What do you mean? I'm cursed remember?" She hissed. "You were cursed." The Devil leaned up against the tree as he looked to the ground. Bon blinked rapidly before asking, "Were?" "Yes, I broke it when I released your contact. I healed your land and everything inside it. Tiring work that was. I think Sally was the easiest to heal, and you definitely took the most work." The Devil didn't budge from his spot, until a happy pink blob rushed into his arms. "You did this? Why!! I'm so happy you did! But why?" She bombarded him with happy 'why's and hugged him tightly. "I need to make up for the awful work I do. You and Dice are so precious to me... I didn't want to loose both of you at the same time." The Devil lowered his head onto Bon's shoulder, but she pulled him back up to get a good look at him. She softened before speaking, "Just talk to him. He stayed by you this whole time right? He must care." "I don't known if I..." "Come on. Baroness's orders, make sure to tell him how much you appreciate him."

"Yes ma'am... let's go." The Devil motioned Bon through the tree and she curiously followed. She stuck a hand through and wasn't repelled. "Yes! Yes! Yes!" She squealed as she happily jumped onto the soft ground of Isle three.

"The Devil has been defeated! You are all free!" Mugman and Cuphead yelled together as the townspeople cheered. Sally was among her troop as they listened gleefully to the children. "This is great! You and the baroness won't have to ..." Sally's man friend was surprised when Sally kissed him on the cheek. "I have to tell Bon!! She's going to be so...!" Sally turned to see the Candy noble looking right at her. "Bon!!! You're outside! Hiya!!!" Sally rushed and practically flew into her lover's arms. "How are you here? Tell me everyth..." Sally was cut off by Bon's sweet loving kiss. "No more kissing anyone else! I mean it!" Bon looked stern but instantly softened as she spun her actress around a few times. "I'm free my love! We can go anywhere, whenever you want!" The two laughed and twirled without a care in the world. The two lived happily between two worlds.

~The End~
